This is a Fan Fav episode. As much as you hate to admit it, relationships are vital to our happiness and success in life. The relationship you have with yourself , your romantic partner, your family, friends and co-workers dictate more than you can imagine. Dr. Molly Maloof, author of The Spark Factor, believes in relationships and connections so much she's created a lecture for Stanford University called Live Better Longer. She touches on the value of social connection and its impact on long-term health and disease. Molly talks with Lisa in this episode and runs down the power of love, what intense romantic love feels like, and an entire masterclass on sexual desire and arousal. The fact that Molly ranks love in the same category of needs as thirst and hunger says a lot. In addition to unpacking the power of love, Molly also covers the power a loss of love has on your physical and mental health. So much of her explanation fills the voids we have in understanding why a bad break can make us feel crazy and do things out of character. What do you think of this episode? Do you have any topics you'd like me to cover?Judgment can be both useful and harmful. When it works well it's a safety mechanism for keeping kids from being harmed. When it works badly it can create feelings of shame and fear which stop parents reaching out for help, cause us to doubt our instincts and miss the vital importance of connection with our children. Sometimes, our fear of judgment can even paralyse us parents and stop us making the decision we know would be better for our family. We can't control what others think about us but we can control how we think about ourselves and how we respond to judgment. That's why I've set up this podcast to give you a chance to hear other parents talk about what experts say, and realise that there is absolutely no perfect parent or perfect way to do things. Personally, I've found parenting more of a haggle than an art. People who think they have the right answer rarely understand the complexities of our own haggle.TOP TIPS SHARED IN THE EPISODE:1. Lead with Empathy, Not AuthorityStart by acknowledging how hard parenting can be."I know how tough it is—I've been there too." This creates a shared experience, not a hierarchy.2. Ask, Don't AssumeInstead of diving in with advice, invite the conversation:"Would it help if I shared something that worked for me?" "Are you looking for suggestions or just someone to listen?" This gives them control, which preserves their dignity.3. Share, Don't InstructFrame advice as personal experience or something you've come across—not a prescription:"What really helped us was..." "I read something interesting the other day about how teens..."Avoid “should,” “always,” or “never” statements.4. Validate Before You AdviseBefore offering tips, show you understand their situation:"That sounds so frustrating—I can see why you're worried." Validation lowers defensiveness and opens them up to ideas.5. Focus on Curiosity, Not CriticismYou might say:"Have you noticed if she gets more upset when..." "Do you think he might be reacting to...?" This invites reflection rather than implying fault.6. Know When to Just Be ThereSometimes advice isn't what they need—just a calm presence or someone to say:"You're doing better than you think."Mo Gawdat quote:Mo Gawdat defines happiness as a state where your perception of life's events is equal to or greater than your expectations. Break Ups episode mentioned in the reviews: https://www.teenagersuntangled.com/144-first-love-breakups-lgbtq-how-to-support-our-kids-through-the-turmoil/Support the showThank you so much for your support. Summary:   Can love really be quantified? In this enlightening episode of Higher Density Living, Zoey Charif reveals how heartbreak and data led her to design the groundbreaking Love Formula. From spiritual growth to psychological clarity, discover how compatibility, self-love, and purpose can be measured and mastered. Tune in and transform your understanding of relationships through the lens of consciousness and calculated connection.   Overview:   What if your most painful breakup held the key to unlocking your highest potential in love? This episode explores that profound question through the eyes of Zoey Charif, an Afghan-born, Vancouver-raised analyst turned relationship alchemist. After enduring cycles of unhealed romantic patterns, Zoey transmuted her emotional pain into purpose by crafting the “Love Formula”—a method to assess compatibility based on values, traits, and emotional intelligence.   Jason Rigby and Zoey dive into how trauma, distorted self-worth, and cultural expectations can shape our relationship choices unconsciously. Zoey's approach doesn't eliminate emotion—it elevates it. Listeners will learn how to calculate their “Self Score,” identify top values, and consciously match with a partner whose score complements their own. From admiration as a foundation for love to understanding why purpose heals, this episode bridges the analytical and the ethereal, offering spiritual seekers a method to love wisely and fully.   Timestamps: 00:00 Introduction to Love and Self-Awareness 02:39 Personal Insights and Self-Discovery 05:30 The Love Formula Explained 08:25 Understanding Compatibility and Attraction 11:07 The Role of Purpose in Relationships 13:59 Navigating Emotions and Impulsivity 16:45 Mismatch Relationships and Their Consequences 19:26 Celebrating Success in Relationships 22:10 Addressing Insecurities and Communication 25:00 The Impact of Trauma on Self-Worth 27:22 Understanding Toxicity in Relationships 30:25 Identifying Imbalances in Partner Dynamics 33:00 The Role of Self-Confidence in Relationships 37:35 Exploring Personality Types in Relationships 43:10 The Importance of Boundaries 48:50 Recognizing Deceivers in Dating   Quotes: “You can admire your partner without losing yourself.” – Zoey Charif “Our emotions are primal. Our choices are divine.” – Jason Rigby “Love isn't luck. It's clarity, courage, and calculation.” – Zoey Charif   Takeaways: Self-awareness is crucial for healthy relationships. The Love Formula helps measure compatibility scientifically. Understanding personal values can improve relationship choices. Attraction should not overshadow compatibility in relationships. Purpose in life can enhance relationship satisfaction. Emotions can cloud judgment; clarity is essential. Mismatched values often lead to relationship breakdowns. Celebrating each other's successes strengthens bonds. Jealousy often stems from insecurity and low self-worth. Recognizing toxic patterns can prevent future heartache.   Resources:
