Sweet and Lowdown opened on December 3rd in just 3 theaters and taking in an impressive 31,562 dollar per screen average Written and directed by Woody Allen, it stars Sean Penn as fictional jazz guitar legend Emmet Ray alongside Samantha Morton and Uma Thurman, Brad Garrett, John Waters, Anthony LaPaglia, and Brian Markinson, among others. Sweet and Lowdown was a welcome end to what many saw as a mid-90s slump for Allen, who had released a string of movies who that had been received with mixed or sometimes scathing reviews, like 1995's Mighty Aphrodite, 1996's Everyone Says I Love You, 1997's Deconstructing Harry, and 1998's Celebrity. It's also difficult to not see in light of revelations of Allen's darker behaviors throughout his career, to say nothing of Penn. But it can also sweet and charming, and its jazz-age nostalgia is as hard to resist as Morton's acclaimed, Oscar-nominated silent performance. Joining John and Julia to talk through Sweet and Lowdown's ups and downs is actor, writer, and director Liz Whitmere, who has some thoughts on toxic behavior in the entertainment industry. Liz is on Bluesky @lizwhitmere

Deconstructing Harry is the 27th film written and directed by Woody Allen, first released in 1997. Woody Allen stars as Harry Block, a cantankerous writer who is accused by the people in his life of using them in his work. Those in his life, many of them women, are also portrayed as their fiction selves. Together they form one of the biggest casts Allen has ever assembled. When Harry is honoured at his old school, he goes on a strange journey with his kidnapped son and a prostitute. This is one of Allen's harshest films. There's prostitution, kidnapping, infidelity, nudity and more explicitness. There's even the casual use of the “c” word. But that harsh surface obscures some pretty astute comedy, deft directing and a pretty fantastic film. Welcome to the Woody Allen Pages podcast. This week - episode 21 - we look at 1997's Deconstructing Harry. How it was conceived, how it was made and how it is really quite rude. Spoilers are everywhere so watch the film and then come back. Welcome to Episode 3 of BULLSHITTERY Podcast! Look at you, supporting this chaotic artist by listening to her chaotic podcast!? Legend!? Hellooooo! Join me as I chat with my friend Adam Rose; actor, dancer, content creator, comedy icon, blue-cardigan king, dad & hubby! Adam is the best & I'm so happy you're here to learn more about his illustrious life as a performer. Here's his IMDb bio: Rose made his debut opposite Robin Williams and Julie Kavner in Woody Allen's Deconstructing Harry. Born to a would-be Rabbinical cantor and an opera singer, Rose embraced music at an early age and excelled at Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and the martial arts training he underwent. It was during this same time that Rose was cast to be the voice of Peanut for three years, as the title-character on PB & J Otter, a cartoon on the Disney Channel. Soon after Rose would perform under the direction of Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, Thoroughly Modern Millie) alongside Kristen Johnston and John Pankow in Peter Hedges' Baby Anger. The successful portrayal of a young boy with cancer led to subsequent guest spots on TV's Ed and Third Watch.Having developed a passion for live theater, Rose landed a role on stage with Theodore Bikel in The Gathering and went on to tour with three consecutive productions - including the pre-Broadway tour with Hal Linden. Throughout his time on stage and in recording booths, Rose continued to grow his love for dance, and at age 15 went on to become the youngest to ever teach dance at the renowned Broadway Dance Center in New York. While continuing to study the dramatic arts at New York's famed LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts, he appeared on the hit series The Sopranos and the Comedy Central movie The Hebrew Hammer, starring Adam Goldberg. It was soon after that Rose had the honor of working with Noah Baumbach, Jeff Daniels, Laura Linney, and Anna Paquin in the Oscar-nominated The Squid and the Whale, as Otto - the best friend of Walt, played by Jesse Eisenberg. After four years of Shakespeare, character study, dialects, clowning (-study, not literally), vocal and dance training and all other school subjects, Rose was done with High School and ready to head west. The exodus was aided by his role on the production of Dead End, directed by Nicholas Martin at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles' famous Music Center. Rose starred as Angel, one of the Dead End Kids, alongside Jeremy SIsto, Tom Everett Scott, Joyce Van Patten, and Kathryn Hahn. He later appeared in HBO's Voyeur Internet project, directed by Jake Scott, and soon after earned a role in Kenneth Lonergan's Margaret. Rose once again found himself on-set with Anna Paquin, along with Matthew Borderick, Matt Damon, Mark Ruffalo, and Kieran Culkin, just to name a few. While still acclimating to life in LA, Rose continued to make appearances on many hit TV shows. Follow Adam everywhere at @realadamrose. Celebrity is the 28th film written and directed by Woody Allen, first released in 1998. Kenneth Branagh stars as Lee Simon, a journalist with aspirations of higher writing and a better life. He has just split from his wife Robin, played by Judy Davis. The two go on separate searches for happiness through fame. Lee by hanging around it, Robin by accidentally becoming it. Coming straight after Deconstructing Harry, Celebrity is another harsh, angry film. Shot in stark black and white and with a biting, sour message. It is one of Allen's biggest casts and a large sprawling story. There's a lot of film here to discuss. Welcome to the Woody Allen Pages Podcast, by me, the creator of the Woody Allen Pages website. What Charlie Chaplin did to Adolf Hitler in “The Great Dictator” Woody Allen does to himself in “Deconstructing Harry”. Written & Directed by Woody Allen. Starring Woody Allen, Hazelle Goodman, Judy Davis, Elisabeth Shue, Kirstie Alley, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Julie Kavner, Demi Moore, Amy Irving, Caroline Aaron, Mariel Hemingway, Tobey Maguire, Robin Williams, Stanley Tucci, Bob Balaban, Eric Bogosian, Billy Crystal How is the world wrong about Deconstructing Harry? From Andras: Woody Allen's films are often used, misleadingly, as evidence to justify the accusations against him. A film like “Deconstructing Harry” does the opposite. In Allen's most direct cinematic response to the end of his relationship with Mia Farrow he portrays himself as a pill popping, booze swilling, womanizer who brings misery upon those around him by using their lives for his art. A guilty man might be expected to portray himself as innocent but Allen seems to be saying, “It's true. I am horrible. Just not the way you think”. This is not only the response of an innocent man. It's the response of a great artist. Currently available on Tubi. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Adam Rose has lived the acting life in Hollywood since he was 9-years old, making his debut opposite Robin Williams and Julie Kavner in Woody Allen's Deconstructing Harry. With over 55 tinsel-town projects to date he's played roles on the sets of luminary directors and actors with credits that include The Sopranos, Veronica Mars, Netflix's Santa Clarita Diet, Supernatural, Merry Happy Whatever, and so many more. He's worked with Matthew Broderick, Matt Damon, Mark Ruffalo, and Anna Paquin, to name a few. As a writer, Adam sold his first pilot, PISSED, to Warner Bros. His short film, QUEEN, which he wrote and directed, screened at over 50 film festivals and won several awards. But back in 2009, he intuitively knew that social media would change how the world consumes content forever. At a time when most of his celebrity peers turned their noses up to anything "online," Adam began cultivating fans outside of his Hollywood projects. Today, Adam has amassed an enormous social media following, with over 3.7 million followers on TikTok and nearly half a million on Instagram, not to mention his growing YouTube. He's one of the most beloved creators with A-list brand deals, known for his viral comedy sketches, dances, and "lovely" wife, a character he plays opposite himself. In this episode, Adam and I unpack the question, "What drives the other: Does the traditional career drive a social following, or does a social following drive your traditional career?" It's an interesting debate. We dive into the story of digital identity and the famous blue cardigan that his fans are obsessed with, and how his community reacts to his content. Adam shares his content strategy, secrets to creativity, production schedule, and a typical day in his life. The whole episode is like a hug in your ear, full of warmth, comedy, and advice. *** This episode of LEAVE YOUR MARK is brought to you by Ever/Body, a New-York based cosmetic dermatology business that exists to thoughtfully support every body along their beauty journey.
Caroline returns to the big screen as the lead of CALL WAITING, a one-woman, tour-de-force poignant comedy; the story of two women who never meet but impact each other profoundly. Caroline stars as both 'Judy Baxter' and 'Carol Lane,' the impossible diva and the bed-ridden writer. One's an actress and the other, the character she plays. Both lives hijacked by fractured families, they discover the path to healing is on the other end of the phone. Judy Baxter is an author who's of the age where she is suffering from women's problems and suspecting her husband of searching out younger game. She is homebound by a debilitating and rare bladder infection, and so she depends on her phone for constant companionship. Judy's story is intermittently interrupted by Carol Lane, the actress playing Judy Baxter. Carol Lane, too, is revealed through her one-sided phone conversations. Also, a woman of a certain age, Carol is anxious about a career being sidelined by "younger game." She is put upon by a helpless ex-husband and her son's impending surgery. While Judy feels having multiple conversations on a single phone (even while in pain) is her emotional obligation, Carol's sense of survival demands that her own needs take priority over all other responsibilities including motherhood. The film is set for release on Amazon Prime over Laborl Day Weekend 2020. Season 3 of the hit series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" (currently streaming) was just nominated for 20 EMMY AWARDS (the most of any other series) and follows the next step in 'Midge's' quest to conquer the comedy world as she embarks on tour with African American and closeted gay musician 'Shy Baldwin.' Caroline stars as 'Shirley Maisel,' Joel's enigmatic Jewish mother who hails from the Upper West Side. A modern matriarch, Shirley stands firm as a pillar of support for the family and her grandchildren, despite her occasional hijinks. "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" is about many things - standup comedy, living in NYC in the 1950s, Jewish family life, etc., but also tackles important issues such as women's roles at the time, and with season 3 LGBTQ and racial discrimination. Social justice is something deeply rooted in Aaron's soul, having grown up Jewish in southern Richmond, Virgina. Her late mother was prominent civil rights activist Nina Friedman Abady, a Selma, Alabama civil rights activist who walked with Martin Luther King Jr. and Aaron endured cross-burnings on her Virgina front lawn. Her mother, who worked full time to support three kids, is also her real-life inspiration for playing 'Shirley Maisel' who is also a liberated woman for the times and full partner in the family business. After studying performing arts at American University in Washington, D.C., Aaron moved to NY and debuted on Broadway in Robert Altman's "Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean."The following season, Caroline starred in the back to back Broadway smashes "The Iceman Cometh," and "I Hate Hamlet", cementing her as the Big Apple's most stirring acclaim to fame. On the big screen, Caroline has built her acting career as a loveable and unforgettable character actress. She has appeared in over a hundred box office hits, including "Hello, My Name is Doris", "21 & 22 Jump Street", "Beyond The Sea", "Just Like Heaven," "Nancy Drew," "Sleepless in Seattle," "Edward Scissorhands" and many more. She has also appeared in four films directed by Woody Allen: "Crimes and Misdemeanors," "Alice," "Husbands and Wives", and "Deconstructing Harry". Her television work includes "Grey's Anatomy," "Modern Family," "Sex and The City," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Transparent," "Episodes," and most recently in the new FOX series "Outmatched." When she is not on the set of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", Caroline enjoys catching up with her two children, playwriting, and producing her podcast series, "Angst And Daisies."

Saturday saw probably the most heartbreaking come-from-behind win of Pep Guardiola's career, as City returned to their dressing room only to hear that Liverpool had scored a late winner of their own - but were the City manager's supposed comments about Mané's diving misreported? Mané didn't really dive, of course, as VAR should have decided - and no, we can't avoid talking about VAR forever - it's clear now almost everyone has now turned against it, we discuss what's going wrong and why. We also talk a little bit about Richard Keogh and Harry Arter. Then we welcome David Sneyd to studio to talk about Shamrock Rovers' win in the FAI Cup final, his interview with Jack Byrne and the season that was in the League of Ireland.
Macy and Mel join forces with Abigael to track down the Assassin; Maggie starts her new gig and has a breakthrough when she reaches out to help Jordan; Harry discovers a horrifying secret. ScoreCard: 9.9/10 Feedback: blackgirlcouch@gmail.comTumblr: slowlyandrogynousmiracleTwitter: christinaj16831

Stek brödet i stekpanna. Det ska få färg så det behövs rikligt med matfett. Blanda i sockret under stekningen.
Chris Bauer has an acting resume as long as my arm. Hes worked with some of the greatest actors and directors that there is. But all that aside, Chris Bauer is a very interesting, thoughtful, deep and complex guy. We talk about his strict Catholic upbringing. How he started acting in commercials at the age of 3. His 3 month long planned proposal to his now wife and how he tried talking her out of it immedialtely after. How True Blood has become an experiment in sociology. How he cursed at Woody Allen during the filming of Deconstructing Harry on camera. His take on improv and getting shirtless for an audience. Getting naked on True Blood. His struggle with his weight. What Howard Stern thinks of him. Working with Bill Murray. His first meeting with Alan Ball and how that lead to his role as Sheriff Andy Bellefleur on HBO's TRUE BLOOD. And so much more!! We laughed a lot. Had some deep moments. I hope you listen, like and share. Thanks!! This week, Travis introduces one of his favorite filmmakers to the group via Deconstructing Harry (1997). Woody Allen writes, directs, and stars as a neurotic writer, suffering from writers block, who becomes haunted by people and characters from his past as his short stories and real life begin to intermingle. Listen as we evaluate the merits of high-brow comedy, the career of Woody Allen, and generally become self-made film scholars overnight. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
