In this thought-provoking episode of the Exploring Mind and Body podcast, host Drew Taddia delves into a subject that hits home on a deep level. With an understanding that not everyone will agree with his perspective, Drew initiates a political conversation about the potential ramifications of government intervention in the health product industry and its impact on businesses. Reflecting on the recent years marked by business closures and economic instability, Drew questions the need for further regulations that directly affect gyms, small health facilities, and independent practitioners who rely on health products, such as supplements, chiropractic care, and massage therapy, as a significant part of their income. The proposed bill discussed in this episode threatens not only these establishments but also health food stores and countless MLM-type companies that offer diverse health products. Drew raises concerns about the motives behind the government's push for regulation. Instead of focusing on ensuring cleaner and more regulated products for the public's well-being, he speculates that larger control and influence, coupled with the pressure exerted by the pharmaceutical industry, may be the underlying driving forces. The potential loss of access to supplements and other health products that have positively impacted the lives of many deeply troubles Drew, who believes that this move could severely limit consumer choice and ultimately harm personal health. With heartfelt sincerity, Drew shares his personal experiences and the testimonials he receives regularly, attesting to the positive impact his supplements and educational content have had on people's lives. The possibility of losing the ability to provide such support weighs heavily on him, and he questions whether this type of intervention aligns with the principles of a free country. As the episode unfolds, Drew highlights the immense efforts he and his family have dedicated to building their business and making a difference in the lives of others. However, the threat of the proposed bill jeopardizes their livelihood and prompts them to contemplate extreme measures, such as leaving the country to start anew. The urgency of the situation fuels their determination to take action and fight for their rights, as well as the rights of other small businesses in similar predicaments. Drawing upon the strength of community and the power of collective action, Drew urges listeners to join the cause. He firmly believes in the strength of numbers and encourages individuals to use their voices, whether by making phone calls, writing letters, or sharing informational flyers. Every act, no matter how small, could contribute to making a difference and protecting businesses like his that have positively impacted the lives of many. In this emotionally charged episode, Drew emphasizes the significance of taking a stand, even if it means facing challenges and uncertainties. With unwavering determination, he asserts that he will continue fighting for his family, their business, and the health and well-being of all those who have supported them throughout the years.

Episode 600 of Exploring Mind and Body, hosted by Drew Taddia, delves into the topic of leveling up one's fitness game, with a specific focus on the challenges faced by busy moms in achieving their desired fitness results. Drew begins by expressing gratitude for the loyal listeners and the global reach of the show. He then explains that the episode's content was taken from one of his Facebook Live sessions, highlighting his recent acquisition of a new microphone for improved audio quality. The majority of the show's audience consists of busy moms, and Drew addresses their common concern of not seeing desired fitness outcomes. He explains that emotional investment is crucial for achieving results, and one key factor influencing emotional investment is financial investment. Drew emphasizes that the abundance of free fitness content online often leads people to undervalue it. Many individuals have only dabbled in fitness, trying occasional workouts or seeking advice from friends and family, without committing to a structured program or hiring a coach. Drew emphasizes the importance of commitment and investment in achieving fitness goals. He recounts personal experiences where he provided programs to friends and family at no cost, resulting in little effort and zero results due to the lack of financial and emotional investment. Drawing parallels to top athletes, successful businesspeople, and skilled speakers, Drew highlights that the best performers in any field have coaches guiding and supporting them. He introduces the concept of "leveling up," where increased investment correlates with greater results and improvement. In closing, Drew encourages listeners to engage with the show's content and visit the Facebook page to express their appreciation. Exploring Mind and Body promises an insightful and engaging discussion on what it takes to elevate one's fitness game and overcome the challenges faced by busy moms. https://youtube.com/shorts/UshDJQXRse8

This is the final episode of the show! After 128 episodes, I have decided to practice that I preach, and make the tough call on priorities and pressures in my life, which means this show will be setting with the sun today. Whether that's forever or for now is not relevant because "forever" is not happening today. With all the demands on my time, I have been facing my own burnout – something I've had as a central theme in many episodes in this show. To protect and love myself, I've taken an inventory of all the things that I am committed to, where they are in the grand scheme of building toward my goals, whether they've served their purpose, and how I might be able to move forward without them. Though it was a hard decision I've grappled with for several months, ending the show here made a lot of sense. Do a Day is not going anywhere, however, with all the resources at your fingertips, as ever. You can still get the book in paperback, Kindle, Audible, Apple Books, Google Play Books, Nook and more. You can still do the Do a Day Masterclass, or sign up for 1-on-1 coaching with me. And the entire back catalog of episodes of the show will still be available for you to go back, listen to, and grow from. With all the stories and inspiration in the 127 episodes that I've released before this final one, I know there is at least one spark that every person in the world could use to start the flame that lets you Go Out and Do It! KiDSMARATHON is designed as an “In-School” 8 - 10 or 40 week Run Club/Daily Mile program for elementary age school children. The essential components of the program, “Healthy Connections” nutrition education - healthy eating, training tips, and running skills for the duration of the program. The “Final Mile” is a celebration of their achievements where they are awarded a finisher shirt and replica medal from a race that Rod Dixon has participated in.
Drew Taddia traveled the world as a professional athlete coming from Canada, through the US, and overseas into Australia and Germany following his dreams and passion of baseball. He quickly became the ‘go to’ guy regarding fitness and nutrition as he continually experimented on his own body to find out what foods would help recover quicker or build muscle more efficiently, how to exercise that would help him jump higher, run faster and help him stand out on the field. He soon found out stress played a vital role in what he was putting both in and on his body, and how by reducing stress through a plant based diet and avoiding toxins both on and off the field, he could improve as an athlete and stand out from the competition. Drew wrote a best selling book called Detoxify Yourself, which is a 30 day plant based meal plan teaching readers how to avoid toxins, which foods will help heal and recover, and how to prepare the meals with recipes and grocery lists. Because of the toxins on the market regarding conventional protein supplement he designed his own plant based protein powder made with quinoa and hemp hearts. Drew has also been on air for 5 years as a radio host (96.5 CKFM) where he interviews world renowned experts in health, fitness, nutrition, lifestyle and more. Key Points from the Episode with Drew Taddia: Drew runs some businesses from home, including a podcast and protein supplement company. That allows him to live life by his rules, taking time to be on the beach or doing some sport, choosing who he works with when, etc. That freedom has always been a life dream. His success has always been about putting in the work, having the work ethic to be there. He’s seen people not have that ethic or commitment, and they haven’t succeeded, despite having the raw talent. Having been a professional baseball player, he’s gotten to see the outcome of the combination of raw talent and hard work first-hand. Growing up, Drew was always very athletic, and had a dream to play college sports growing up. He played football, baseball and basketball in high school, but was better at baseball, so he focused there. He sent out hundreds of letters to schools with baseball programs to try to get an opportunity, and all of them were rejection letters. He didn’t give up, though, feeling determined to play. He found a school in Northern California that let him walk on and try out, and he made the team. Growing up, he was no different, for example shooting basketball in the freezing cold of Canada. He was raised by his mother, with his dad not really around. While no one told him his dreams were undoable, no one was explicitly pushing him either. While he made the team as a walk on, he was a ‘red shirt’, meaning he was only good enough for the practice team. Coming back for sophomore year, he expected to make the actual team, but found himself cut. That left him lost as to what to do next for his life and how to keep playing given how hard he worked to be there. He immediately got on the phone, and called every school within driving distance, not worrying about what position they might have an opening for. He found a school looking for a Centerfielder. Despite being a second baseman, he said he could play centerfield, and immediately changed schools. Not knowing the intricacies of baseball, I didn’t realize how different the positions are, and how much work it would take to develop the skills and muscle memory to be a successful Centerfielder. With his hard work ethic, Drew made the team, made the All-Conference team despite it being a tougher conference than the first one he was in, and actually went on to beat the team he had been cut from. Making All-Conference means all of the other coaches in the league voted him as the best in his position, even though he had never played the position before. Being cut actually made Drew’s career, despite how it felt at the time. Being told, “No, you’re not good enough to play on this team,” pushed him harder to play for someone else. Coming out of his college career, he did not get signed into a professional league, so he joined various leagues and kept practicing for hours every day – throwing and hitting balls, doing sprint drills and more. He did it all day every day until someone would take him. Drew also developed the skills to live minimally in this process. In professional sports and as an entrepreneur, you never know when your next paycheck is coming. So when he could make money, he worked as much as he could and saved every penny. And when he spent, he spent as little as he could, living a spartan life focused on training. He finally landed professional opportunities across the US and the world, having to drop everything for an opportunity on the spot, wherever one came up. Anything could change in an instance that could change your life in either direction. Someone could be injured on a Major League team that gets bumped down to the minors and takes your position. Or someone could get moved up that opens a door for you. Drew found himself between contracts at one point, which meant he unpacked the suitcase he was living out of and found that it was actually not so bad. The normalcy and stability of it was kind of nice. He got into training people at a local gym, and started applying to a local radio station to do a show. The show finally said yes when his next baseball contract was to start, and he also released a book at the same time called Detoxify Yourself. He said he’d do the show and book signings for another season, and then go back, but instead he launched a protein supplement when the next season came around, putting baseball off again. The pattern repeated itself with more and more stability in his life pushing the instability of baseball off further. It’s interesting in pro sports where you’re all one the team together, but people are also looking for you to fail so they can step in and get their shot. It’s a real contrast to what I talked about with Ryan Stratis in the American Ninja Warrior space. Today, Drew and his wife work in their holistic health business, helping people live a healthy lifestyle in different ways. In this show Dorothy interviews Drew Taddia, on how to find success. How he was able to start a radio show, create podcasts and be part of a running community. In this show they talk about setting goals, creating a plan and living inspired. Follow along to learn how you can set and achieve goals yourself!
I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit and played various team sports as a kid but was never all that good at any of them. I really enjoyed getting outside and running though so I stuck with cross country and track throughout high school. I loved competing, the feeling of pushing myself to get stronger and faster, plus the team camaraderie was unlike any other sport I had played. I took a corporate job after graduating college which led me out west to Arizona. Moving out west reinvigorated my passion for running and being outside. I took up trail running, rock climbing, backpacking - pretty much anything to keep me outdoors whenever I wasn’t in the office. Eventually my company went up for sale and I found myself with a great severance package. I took the opportunity to do something I had always dreamed of and headed to South America on a solo adventure. While I was there I climbed 13 high peaks in the Andes and trekked through some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. After my trip, I didn’t feel an urgency to go running back to corporate America. Shocker. I had qualified for the Boston Marathon and decided to focus on that while contemplating what I wanted to do next. While training, some buddies of mine convinced me to sign up for a Spartan race. I had the time of my life. I felt like a kid again, rolling through the mud, swinging across monkey bars, and barreling down steep hills through the Sonoran desert. I crossed the finish line, walked over to registration, and signed myself up to race the short course the next day. I placed top 10 overall, I couldn’t believe it! I was hooked. Over the past year I’ve focused on developing myself to become a top contender in the world of obstacle course racing (OCR) and have put my corporate career on hold in the meantime. I absolutely love this sport that I’ve stumbled upon and how it pushes me to become an incredibly well-rounded athlete. OCR has really taken off in the past couple years and continues to draw some of the most talented and hard working athletes across the world. In order to keep up I have to constantly push myself to get stronger, faster, and more resilient. After placing first in the all-age division at the Spartan World Championship in 2018, I decided to begin racing in the elite category. Since racing as an elite, I’ve made the podium 4 times including my first overall win recently at the SoCal Spartan Sprint in Lebec. I placed in the top 10 at the final US National Series race this year in Utah and at the North American Championship in West Virginia. I had a devastating DNF at Worlds in Tahoe due to hypothermia, but have my heart set on a top 10 finish at the 2020 World Championship. I moved to California just a few months ago (currently in Redondo Beach) and was lucky enough to stumble upon SBRC. This incredible group has welcomed me with open arms and it’s been so great having a community to train with.
Welcome to the third episode of Poisecast: a Podcast that discusses exercise, workout and overall fitness related best practices and topics. In our third episode we talk with former professional baseball player Drew Taddia (@drewtaddia) about some of his secrets to success and how his health and fitness path has lead him to the nutrition world.Host: Alysia JarmonGuest: Drew TaddiaSupport the show (http://poisefitness.com)
Having played professional baseball traveling the world for over 10 years, Drew Taddia talks about the struggle with competition. Is it a good thing, is it bad. Should we have winners if there is losers; and what does society think of giving out awards for first, second and third place, if there is awards at all. Drew shares his personal experience with what he’s learned through competition, what he struggles with today post athletics and what we can learn from these experiences.
In the past few years I have made running a priority. I schedule my runs around work and my weekends around my long runs. Through consistency, I have brought my marathon time down from over 4 hours to 3:31 to 3:15 to 3:09. What gets me out the door everyday is loving to be outside (I am also a huge hiking enthusiast). My next goal is to run a sub 3 hour marathon. I don't know if I will be able to do it, but I love improvement and pushing my body to see what it can do.
· College mathematics professor for 20 years, receiving tenure 2 years ago at El Camino College in Torrance CA. · Born and raised in Los Angeles, currently living in Hermosa Beach. · Bachelors and Masters degree from Loyola Marymount University. · For almost 12 years, I was a “freeway flyer” teaching at 3-4 colleges a semester, just trying to make ends meet. I was FINALLY lucky enough be hired full time as a Professor at El Camino in 2013. · During that time, I was spending more time in my car than anywhere else. Just driving, teaching, eating, driving, teaching, eating…eating junk food on the run all day. I was probably 25-30 pounds heavier than I am now. · My sister asked if I would run a 5k with her in 2010. I trained my butt off and while my time was less than stellar (36 minutes. My current PR is 20:06!), I was hooked. I ran track in grade school and loved it, but nothing after that. The 5k in 2010 was what started this entire triathlon thing. · In 2012 I ran my first half-marathon (Orange County Marathon) in 2:36. It was slow but steady. I was so proud of myself and at the same time it was beyond my comprehension how someone could run TWICE that. It boggled my mind. · In 2014 I did a “reverse” tri in Los Alamitos (called ‘Race on the Base’). I literally had to borrow someone’s bike, swim cap and bathing suit. Even though it was a ‘super sprint’ race, I was absolutely in love with the sport. I felt that if I could really get into it, it would allow me to be active longer in life by biking and swimming instead of running all the time. Less pounding on the joints. · Since 2014, I’ve gone on to complete countless half-marathons, sprint and Olympic distance triathlon races, 2 Gran Fondo bike races, 7 half-Ironman races (PR of 5:26 at 70.3 Santa Cruz in 2018), 1 full Ironman (Ireland 2019 - now THAT is a hell of a story), Chicago Marathon (where I BQed with 3:39 finish) and named an Ironman All World Athlete in 2018 and 2019 (Top 5% in my Age Group). · I will be running the NYC Marathon in November for charity (Team Autism Speaks). It’s been such a humbling experience raising the money for this great cause. Running the race for a cause bigger than myself is going to truly be something special. · Non-athletic fun fact: In college I was the drummer in an all-girl pop/punk band who was produced by one of the members of the 80’s band The Go-Go’s. · 2019 sponsors/team member: o Wattie Ink Hit Squad Team o SBR Product Ambassador o NUUN Ambassador o BOCO Gear MVP Team · Local club affiliations: o LA Tri Club o South Bay Running Club o Tower 26

In short, part ninja, part athlete, park monk and a part of this world. Why these handful of descriptions? Because life isn’t that serious, because we all have a ninja secretly hidden deep down, because we all want to give and are a part of this world, and most of us have a peaceful calming deep down that we’re looking to find. Part Ninja. Because of my cat like reflexes, slacklining ability and mysterious, seemingly magical powers. Part Athlete. Growing up as one, the drive to achieve is a burning fire that only ignites as I find inspiration from around the world directed toward healthy living. Part Monk. Because of my spiritual connections, meditation practices and natural, holistic way of life. Part of this World Because each and every one if us influences this world in one way or another, positively or negatively. We affect the environment we live in, the strangers we pass by and the loved ones we cherish. Each one of us is a part of this world. Stress is a problem that most people deal with, and my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is with a man who has an amazing story that has led to where he is today as part ninja, part monk, and part of this world. Yes, that is a start that we have never done on Join Up Dots, but after you listen to the guest talk then you realise that it's about spot on. Going back in time, our guests story started as he travelled the world as a professional athlete coming from Canada, through the US, and overseas into Australia and Germany as he followed his dreams and passion of baseball. In fact he spent most of his life as an athlete, and as he got older, he discovered a passion that wasn't expected at the beginning of his sporting life But throughout an arduous season swinging the bat, he found he was able to stay healthy and injury free through a long season no matter what city, or continent or how far he travelled. And this was the first dawning realisation of where he wanted to go in his life The experiments he performed on himself through both nutrition and fitness started to form his fledgling business, and what he found was fascinating, He discovered that the majority of what causes us issues in our health all stem from our stress levels. He discovered that if we're able to reduce the stress in our lives through what we put in and on our body, and by reducing the stress in our environment, we can live healthy, vibrant lives. So how did he discover this, and although part monk is he able to to now remain stress free in his life when someone cuts him up on the freeway? And what is the number one thing that we can do to induce this state of stress free relaxation around in our lives? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Drew Taddia

177: Drew Taddia on Reducing Stress and Detoxing Smartly. Making long lasting changes a little at a time and using a plant-based diet to avoid toxins. Drew has traveled the world as a professional athlete coming from Canada, working through the US, and overseas into Australia and Germany following his dreams and passion of baseball. He quickly became the ‘go to' guy regarding fitness and nutrition as he continually experimented on his own body to find out what foods would help him recover quicker or build muscle more efficiently, and how to exercise to help him jump higher, run faster, and help him stand out on the field. He soon found out stress played a vital role in what he was putting both in and on his body. He learned that by reducing stress through a plant based diet and avoiding toxins both on and off the field, he could improve as an athlete and stand out from the competition. Using what he learned, Drew wrote the best-selling book Detoxify Yourself, which is a 30-day plant-based meal plan teaching readers how to avoid toxins, chose foods to help heal and recover, and how to prepare the meals with recipes and grocery lists. Concerned about the toxins on the market in conventional protein supplements, he designed his own plant based protein powder made with quinoa and hemp hearts. Drew has also been on air for 5 years as a radio host (96.5 ckfm) where he interviews world renowned experts in health, fitness, nutrition, lifestyle and more. In this podcast: Greg interviews health and fitness advocate and radio show host Drew Taddia, and they talk about the importance of reducing stress and making sustainable lifestyle changes that work. Drew teaches about using a different mindset when making lifestyle changes, and how that can be the difference in succeeding or failing. He tackles health and fitness in three areas of nutrition, exercise and environment and explains how to keep it from becoming overwhelming. “If you never start, you're never going to get anywhere” Go to www.urbanfarm.org/trueformlife for more information, photos and links on this podcast and to check out our other great guests.
Drew Taddia was captain of winning high school teams in three different in Canada, but his hundreds of letters to U.S. college coaches were coming back, “Not interested.” So, he targeted four states with warm climates, packed his bags and just showed up at a California college. The coach looked at him like he was crazy when this unknown player told him, “I’m going to play for you,” but Drew made it into the tryouts and onto the team. Knowing he had work to do, he taught himself nutrition and fitness. “Soon I became the go-to guy of how to design a fitness program.”
On this show I'm joined by Adam and Shoshana Chaim from the Plant Trainers podcast who actually interview me on this edition of Exploring Mind and Body Drew's passion for baseball led him to research about nutrition and workouts to help him stay on the field longer and move up the ranks from College to the professional level. He started experimenting with his own body and tested which food made him quicker, stronger and what foods would even help him heal quicker. He eventually discovered that plant-based nutrition can make a big difference in his performance as an athlete. He became stronger, healthier and even slept better. He started to have more mental clarity than ever. The secret, all the while, was the food that he was putting into his body. This eventually led him to design "Complete Truth Protein", which is a whole food supplement. Now, he is now a full time health and wellness advocate hosts his Nationally Syndicated Radio Talk Show is author of "Detoxify Yourself"and has a new passion of helping other live healthy lives. Show Notes: - grew up in Canada - goal as an athlete to be a college athlete - went down to California played college ball - started to experiment with own body. - researched about nutrition, workouts to stay on the field longer. - plant-based nutrition - common misconceptions on becoming an athlete - toxic food can cause stress - genetically modified food - alcohol, tobacco, soy, coke, redbull - greens can energize you in the morning - fruits and vegetables - non-gmo foods (fruits and vegetables) - foods you can afford - locale farmers - access to organic food - Drew's green smoothie ingredients - stayed away from dairy - injuries roots from stress on our body Detoxify Yourself Are you looking to Detoxify Yourself, live a life free of toxins, full of energy, alive and rejuvenated?! Sometimes, that “edge” you may be looking for ends up providing you with an advantage, but in unexpected ways. That's just how uncertainty works. This was true for my guest on this episode Drew Taddia. Drew spent many years as a professional baseball player. Being from Canada, one of the disadvantages he had to contend with is not playing as many games as his American counterparts prior to taking a risk and moving to the USA to try his hand at that country's “greatest pastime”. Trying to bridge the gap, Drew turned towards nutrition. He started to figure what works (mostly a plant-based whole foods diet). Eventually, these efforts paid off – but not exactly as intended. Drew decided to try his hand at coaching and training others in diet and nutrition. What started off rocky, has turned into a successful career as an author, fitness expert, podcast host and many more things. Today, Drew joins me for a fun, engaging and informative conversation about: Drew's background story including his baseball career; Taking risks; Building resilience through: Nutrition, particularly of the plant-based (vegan) variety; Managing stress Mindfulness How to make positive changes that will endure Finding a career that you love Loads more It was a blast speaking to Drew and I am sure you'll find it entertaining and extremely useful.
