Kinks, Fetishes & Pervertibles Participant #1: You're listening to the Sex with Dr. Jess podcast, sex and relationship advice you can use tonight. Welcome to the sex with Dr. Jess Podcast. I'm your co host, Brandon Ware, here with my lovely other half, Dr. Jess. Hey. Hey. 2023. I am finally getting used to writing writing it because I kept typing 2022, even in Contracts. Yeah, I usually do that for the first few weeks of the year and then catch on. I'm liking this year already. Well, that's great. Yes. And we have a quickie for folks today, real quickie on kinks versus fetishes, because we've got a super limited amount of time, and we just got off three flights, one of which was a very, very long overnight flight because we have some work overseas. Yeah, that was a bit of a milk run, but glad to be where we are. Yeah, it was an accident. But we did get to stop for a really good club sandwich. Always about a good club sandwich. Actually, there were two really good stops. We also had a really nice meal in one of the airports that never really happens. Oh, yeah, that's right. We had a stop in Toronto. It feels like a million years ago. But yeah, if you're lucky enough to fly through the Signature Suite in Toronto, their food's always been good. It's from Chef Hawksworth, who's a Canadian chef who has restaurants on the west coast. But the food's gotten even better. Yeah, well, I mean, you loved it. You were happy. I was just pleased not to be sitting on the ground working for an hour. I live for food. I live for food. All right, so we're talking kinks versus fetishes, and this person wants to know something fairly straightforward, which is perfect, because we've got this quicky amount of time. They've asked, what is the difference between a kink and a fetish? How common are they? What are the most common fetishes? And they say, I think I may have a few fetishes. So, Brendan, do you know the difference between a kink and a fetish? I do not. Okay. I'm just straight out, I mean no. Do you think you're kinky? Yeah, I think I'm a little kinky. You're a little kinky. You're not, like, dress up kinky. I don't think you're identity or community kinky. Like, you're not at the dungeons, you're not at the parties. But I could. You could. I took you to one once and they sort of tore you to shreds. Do you remember that? You know, I don't, but I feel like you should tell me that. It was the one that was up high in that apartment for a specific celebration. They did. I recall now because you were in a suit. I was in a suit. I definitely was the one that was singled out as someone who hadn't partaken in some of the activities before. One of these things just doesn't belong to be fair, it was a wedding it was a collar. And so you showed up in a suit. Yep, I did. I wore a very kinky I wore a kinky dress. Anyhow okay, so kinks versus fetishes.

Episode 59 Blake Hawksworth knows what it's like to experience the highs and lows of athletics. Rated as one of the top high school pitchers in the 2001 Major League Baseball draft class, Hawksworth was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in 28th round that summer. He instead enrolled at Bellevue Community College in Washington state, where he played for one season before signing with the St. Louis Cardinals. After just two seasons, Baseball America rated him as the top prospect in the Cardinals' organization. Injuries plagued his career, though, and limiting him to three seasons in the major leagues from 2009-2011 with the Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers. But he's remained heavily involved in the game since retiring in a coaching capacity. He serves as the pitching coach at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, California, but before that he was the pitching coach at Grand Canyon University, an assistant coach at California State-Fullerton, and an assistant basketball coach at Eastlake High School in Washington, where he graduated from also and starred as a basketball player. Hawksworth was a talented basketball player as well, and he talks about his love of hoops and sharing that with his son, Jackson, in this conversation with Matt and Leslee Holliday. He talks about the pressure he felt as a high school athlete, feeling like he needed to perform and focus on statistics instead of just helping his team. He also shares how he dealt with the disappointment his injuries brought and how his faith in God was shaped throughout the struggles and joys of his life and athletic career. Table Forty is part of the Sports Spectrum Podcast Network. -- If you enjoyed this episode, we know you'll love these conversations as well: — Matt Holliday – Lessons From His Career — Skip and Lindsey Schumaker – MLB Couple — Tennessee Basketball Coach Rick Barnes

Now brought to you by Scout Magazine. It's always wonderful to chat with individuals who are happy and fulfilled. Today's talk with bartender and budding entrepreneur Alex Black of imminent Blnd Tger was no exception. I've known Alex for many years now as a prominent fixture within the Vancouver hospitality industry. He's worked for some exceptional people and businesses. Most notably Wildebeest, Hawksworth and Nightingale just to name a few. We got on the line the other day to discuss his newest venture, a dumpling shop that will be the front of what used to be Mamie Taylor's. I say front because the back part of the space is still under construction for a different concept all together. Hoping to pay homage to the neighbourhood and their fondness for Chinese dumplings, Black and his team are coming this way with a small 7 dumpling menu with a focused, but fun beverage program. From what I've gathered, they've done the research and are excited to soon showcase what they've come up with. Can't wait. This chat was fun, informative and completely PG, something he and I often lack when speaking. Enjoy! Sadly, no Mickey. School demands his attention. He apologizes. blndtgerdumplings

Now brought to you by Scout Magazine. Now here’s a fun one. Two Chef heavyweights talking collaboration, life during the pandemic, staying upbeat, frustrations with third-party delivery apps and why they both love Chef Peter Ho. First, let’s just call it what it is, Chef and entrepreneur Doug Stephen has been killing it these past few years with his Downlow Chicken brand. Don’t believe me? Just drive on up to Commercial Drive at any time of the day and look for the massive crowd waiting outside for their orders. They’re always busy!!!Doug has been doing just so for years now with his love for this city and the food he wants to provide. Downlow Chicken and Downlow Burgers at The American are gems of the highest order. We’re really stoked he jumped on for this episode. He doesn’t disappoint. Then there’s Chef and Culinary Director Phil Scarfone of Osteria Savio Volpe, Pepino’s Spaghetti House and Cafe La Tana. Don’t sleep on this man and his talent. Jamie has tasted his food numerous times in the past, back when he was at Hawksworth and then at Nightingale and lately at his new homes. The man can cook and from what we learned today, he’s a calm leader who wants to do right by his profession and team. You’d be remiss to think he’d have an ego the size of a three Michelin star chef after coming in second in Top Chef Canada a few years back, but as you’ll quickly see during this interview, he’s laidback and chill. Our kind of guy. Plus he’s a big forager. What’s not to like about that? This episode is great and the boys deliver. We hope you enjoy. **Technical note: When the boys jump on, we had a bit of sound difficulty at the beginning, so the conversation jumps about 30 seconds to Doug explaining his basketball shoe collection after having just purchased a home basketball net. We apologize for this. Life via Zoom? Not ideal but it’ll have to do for now. ***Scout is one of Vancouver’s leading food and culture magazines. Chef David Hawksworth has released his first cookbook. Hawksworth. The CookBook Yes, it has incredible recipes but the stories of places and kitchens, victories, and defeats run throughout the pages. It’s a great read. It was/is an amazing life. David grew up on Canada’s West Coast but hit the road teaching himself how to cook (never a good move) He worked for the legendary Marco Pierre White (who trained Gordon Ramsay, Mario Batali, and Shannon Bennett). After nine years in London, Hawksworth decided if he wanted to see 40 and realize his dream of a restaurant called Hawksworth he would have to return to Vancouver. In 2011 he opened Hawksworth, named restaurant of the year in 2012 by Maclean’s magazine, and consistently ranked as one of the best in the country. Also opened Nightingale in 2016 in Coal Harbour, and two Bel Café locations, plus a catering arm. This podcast has a lot of his life story included but keep in mind, he’s still writing new chapters. This interview and book are not really about that he’s doing all these amazing things.. It's about HOW he did it – WHY he did it – and answers the question – at what price. We welcome a friend David Hawksworth and his first cookbook called strangely HAWKSWORTH. The Cookbook

There's confidence shifting the Government fleet to electric vehicles will make a measurable difference to the climate.16,000 vehicles are in line to be switched to electric as part of plans to respond to the newly-declared climate change emergency.Mercury CEO Vince Hawksworth told Kate Hawkesby it's good to make the change."If we're going to meet these carbon targets, one of the biggest opportunities in New Zealand is transport electrification."While it is a good start, Hawksworth says the Government could be bolder by setting a timeframe for banning the import of used fossil fuel vehicles."If we're going to shift the dial, we need to make sure we don't become the dumping ground for second hand fossil fuelled cars that no one else wants in the world."Hawksworth also thinks a fee could be put on high emission new vehicles and the money could help reduce the price of EVs.LISTEN ABOVE

Fintech Podcast: 8topod the 8topuz Financial Technology Podcast Hosted by Anthony Munns
On this episode of 8topod Fintech Podcast we meet Scott Hawksworth is a tech entrepreneur based in Chicago, IL. and the host of the SoarPay podcast called PayPod. After founding a number of businesses that required credit card payment processing solutions, he became interested in the larger payments industry and innovations in payment technology. An avid follower of the crypto payments revolution, Scott is particularly interested in the future of payments and fintech in the digital age. Soar Payments LLC launched in 2015 with the goal of providing industry-leading solutions in the high risk merchant account space. Since then, we have expanded to offer solutions to mid risk and low risk merchants, too — including many businesses owned by our friends and family, as well as hardworking entrepreneurs and business owners across the nation. Our Houston-based team does indeed deliver that “Texas Hospitality” you've heard so much about! Cowboy boots are optional, but highly encouraged, at SoarPay headquarters.
Mercury Energy has kept the faith with thousands of its mum and dad investors by eking out an increased final dividend for the June year and predicting another increase in the payout in year ahead.Drought and disruption from the Covid-19 pandemic helped drive Mercury's operating earnings down by 2 per cent over the year to June, but the company increased its dividend for the 12th year in a row.Operating earnings, (ebitdaf) of $494 million in the year were down $12m on the previous corresponding period but the company reported a 15.8cps dividend for the year, up 2 per cent on 2019.Despite uncertainty surrounding the planned closure of the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter and the impact of Covid-19, Mercury forecast ebitdaf of $515m for the 2021 year and a 17 cps dividend for the year. That would make it a 7.6 per cent increase on the 2020 dividend total - good news for the 70,000 shareholders with fewer than 5000 shares.Grant Swanepoel, director of equity research at Jarden, said the result and earnings outlook reflected the quality of Mercury's mostly North Island assets and the confidence of its board."It does show the board's confidence in its assets and its ability to navigate its way through the next few years," Swanepoel said."It's the one stock that appears to be the most bullet-proof under changing circumstances," Swanepoel said.It was Mercury's first full year without earnings from the Metrix smart metering business, which was sold last year.Mercury's net profit after tax of $207m was down by 42 per cent on the previous year's record profit of $357m, which was inflated by the $177m gain on the sale of Metrix.Adjusting for the sale, Mercury's net profit was up $27m, primarily because lower interest and tax charges more than offset the effects of lower rainfall.Mercury said its overall performance was strong in a testing financial year affected by drought across the Waikato catchment from September, and then disruption from Covid-19.The company said in July that it was well placed to respond to Rio Tinto's move to wind-down Tiwai's operations.Mercury chief executive Vince Hawksworth said the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy and on customers would "continue to be felt for some time".He added the announced closure of Tiwai, and decisions around timing of the closure, would lead to increased volatility in wholesale electricity markets. The closure of the plant - which uses 13 per cent of New Zealand's power - would have transmission pricing implications, and market and investment implications for Mercury and others.Mercury's renewable generation assets in the North Island are close to load centres and largely free of major transmission constraints.South Island generators Contact and Meridian are expected to bear the brunt of Tiwai's closure.Mercury's share price rallied after the result. The stock last traded at $5.03, up 15c.

Abstract: We present LipidFinder 2.0, incorporating four new modules that apply artefact filters, remove lipid and contaminant stacks, in-source fragments and salt clusters, and a new isotope deletion method which is significantly more sensitive than available open-access alternatives. We also incorporate a novel false discovery rate (FDR) method, utilizing a target-decoy strategy, which allows users to assess data quality. A renewed lipid profiling method is introduced which searches three different databases from LIPID MAPS and returns bulk lipid structures only, and a lipid category scatter plot with color blind friendly pallet. An API interface with XCMS Online is made available on LipidFinders online version. We show using real data that LipidFinder 2.0 provides a significant improvement over non-lipid metabolite filtering and lipid profiling, compared to available tools. In the early hours of January 15, 1978 serial killer Ted Bundy entered Florida State University’s Chi Omega sorority house through a rear door. Beginning at about 2:45 a.m. he entered the rooms of Margaret Bowman and Lisa Levy who did not survive their attacks. In an adjoining bedroom he attacked Kathy Kleiner, breaking her jaw and deeply lacerating her shoulder; and her roommate Karen Chandler, who suffered a concussion, broken jaw, loss of teeth, and a crushed finger. Kathy, who later testified in his trial, described seeing only a silhouette of a man wielding a club. Tallahassee detectives later determined that the four attacks took place in a total of less than 15 minutes, within earshot of more than 30 witnesses who heard nothing. Kathy discusses her experience that night, what happened in the months and years after, and what she feels about subsequent media coverage about Bundy.Luke Hawksworth appears in the first episode of Netflix’s unique dating show Dating Around, which follows one person going on five blind dates.
