We start off at a slumber party in a cabin in the woods where El uses her psychic abilities to spy on people and she gets scared of a fart and a possible murder. This is not the babysitters club people, this slumber party is almost as weird as the ones in Jessica Jones (inside joke with myself) Hopper comes home drunk and stood up but he's happy his daughter is making out with Max instead of Mike now because she's just way cooler than him. (kidding, well not about Max being cooler because she is, but the rest of it) Steve, Dustin and Robin are doing a better job of defending the country than anyone has since the 1960s by spying on a jazzercize class and hopping up on tables in the mall and yes they are still doing a better job of catching Russian spies than Brenner and the actual government irl Joyce tells Hopper she was in the same room as another man for important reasons and his man brain can't handle that because he's suddenly an annoying jealous bf, even though he's not her bf at all... chill out Hopper, I know you are better than this. But he promises to take her on a date at the place were all her troubles came from and where her last bf died which is a great idea... Mike and Lucas are simping over their exes who are way too busy tracking down a missing lifeguard and having a good time to care about stupid boys but when Will wants the boys to stop caring about "stupid girls" Mike does an accidental homophobia and then feels bad... dude you should have just played D&D because you trying to do things in the real world just pisses everyone you care about off badly... you are not good at real life... Nancy tries really hard to get men in suits in the 1980s to stop being misogynist A-holes and take her seriously and girl... this runs in the family because you are fighting a losing battle, move on because you are better than them anyway, but she's relentless and her and jonathon find Mrs. Driscoll eating fertilizer in her basement and it is disgusting. Hopper get's his ass kicked at the lab like he's Steve Harrington or something... El and Max track down a red door and find Billy pretending to be a normal person and not being very good at it He stares El down because he is also the mindflayer and several other names that we won't find out about until season 4... Heather thwops her dad, Tom (nancy's boss) upside the head with a wine bottle and it's mildly satisfying except for the fact that she's only doing it because she's been 'flayed' by Billy/the mindflayer... and Nancy didn't even get to see Tom get owned by his own daughter, what a shame
On this week's episode, Cody kicks things off with an enthusiastic discussion about some of the exciting news emerging from the highly anticipated New York Comic-Con 2025. He shares with Joe the thrilling announcement regarding the much-celebrated return of Jessica Jones, a character that has garnered a loyal fanbase, as she will be portrayed once again by the talented actress Kristen Ritter in the upcoming season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. This revival has sparked a wave of excitement among fans, who are eager to see how Jessica's character will evolve within the gritty narrative of Hell's Kitchen. Additionally, Cody reveals that there will be a new addition to the cast for this season: none other than Matthew Lillard, known for his diverse roles in both film and television, who will take on the character of Mr. Charles. This character is expected to serve as a formidable rival to Vincent D'Onofrio's iconic portrayal of Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin. The dynamic between these characters promises to add depth and intrigue to the unfolding storylines.Continuing the conversation, Cody expresses his enthusiasm about Edgar Wright's upcoming project, The Running Man, which has been generating buzz in the film community. He discusses the unique approach Wright is known for, particularly his ability to blend humor with action, and how this might redefine the classic narrative originally conceived by Stephen King. Cody's excitement is palpable as he transitions to a discussion about anime, specifically highlighting his anticipation for the new season of One-Punch Man. This leads to an engaging dialogue between the two about the intricacies of anime, including the often-controversial topic of filler episodes. They explore how filler can sometimes detract from the main storyline, yet also provide opportunities for character development and world-building, leading to a deeper appreciation of the medium. As the episode progresses, the conversation shifts to literature, with both Cody and Joe sharing insights about the books they are currently reading. Cody dives into a discussion about The End of the World as We Know It: New Tales of Stephen King's The Stand, a collection of short stories that expand upon the universe of King's iconic novel. He elaborates on how these new tales offer fresh perspectives and narratives that enrich the original story, and how they resonate with contemporary themes of survival and morality. Joe then shares his own literary journey, revealing that he has started reading the latest installment in the Robert Langdon series, titled The Secret of Secrets. This prompts a lively exchange about Dan Brown's distinctive writing style, his penchant for weaving intricate puzzles, and the thrill of uncovering hidden truths within historical contexts. To wrap up the episode, the guys delve into a discussion about the novel "S." by Doug Dorst and J.J. Abrams. They explore the innovative narrative structure of the book, which combines a story with margins filled with annotations, letters, and other ephemera that create a multi-layered reading experience. Cody and Joe contemplate the implications of such a format on storytelling and how it challenges traditional narratives, inviting readers to engage in a more interactive way. Their conversation reflects a shared appreciation for creativity in literature and the evolving nature of storytelling in both books and other media. Overall, this episode is packed with insights, excitement, and a celebration of the rich tapestry of storytelling across various platforms.Official Website: https://www.comesnaturallypodcast.comOfficial Merchandise: https://shop.spreadshirt.com/comes-naturally-podcast/iTunes: http://tinyurl.com/kqkgackFacebook: http://tinyurl.com/myovgm8Tumblr: http://tinyurl.com/m7a6mg9Twitter: @ComesNaturalPodYouTube: http://tiny.cc/5snxpy
Comic-Con was lit. We saw panels for Marvel, Mortal Kombat, and a new show called The Beauty. Highlights: • Marvel Zombies — 4 episodes. Not canon. But Blade + Moon Knight powers? Dope. • X-Men '97 — New showrunners. Same as the first showrunners. Trailer was sick. • Daredevil Season 2 — trailer blew up. Jessica Jones shows. It's bigger, wilder, leads into Brand New Day. Season 3 also confirmed. • Wonder Man — meta AF. An actor chasing a superhero life? Could end up with actual powers. • Vision Quest — most of this one's inside Vision's head. He's wrestling with all his AIs (Jarvis, FRIDAY, Karen, Ultron, Edith), and one of his kids might still be alive. • Mortal Kombat 2 — they dropped a 5-min clip. We get realm traveling (Baraka's realm seen), a more humorous tone, and a deeper Johnny Cage journey. NEED MERCH?!: www.insensitivemerch.com Join the cult of Casual Nerds and get up to 15% off! Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes While Marvel Studios allegiance to San Diego and Hall H seems to have waned in recent years, not so for last weekend's New York City Comic Con where our favorite cinematic universe teased the latest and greatest for their small screen offerings. Let's rundown the biggest headlines from Marvel Television:Wonder Man released its official teaser trailer alongside the announcement that the 8-episode series had been delayed from December 2025 to January 27, 2026Fans in attendance were treated to an exclusive trailer for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, presented by Daredevil actor Charlie Cox who was reunited with Jessica Jones actor Krysten Ritter. The series was confirmed for a March 2026 release on Disney Plus and we also learned Wilson Bethel's Bullseye will return and Matthew Lillard will be an antagonist to Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin. Separate from NYCC, but still worth mentioning on the subject of Daredevil: Born Again, speaking with Entertainment Tonight Marvel TV Head Brad Winderbaum shared the season's connection to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying "We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there's coherence there. We don't want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it is important."VisionQuest and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 were confirmed for Fall 2026 release windows, while X-Men '97 Season 2 was announced for Summer 2026. All three shows debuted exclusive trailers not yet released to the public and both animated series confirmed their third seasons to be in development. On the DCU TV side of things, Peacemaker Season 2 aired its final episode last week, and while we'll avoid getting specific with spoilers given the recency, when asked about a third season James Gunn did provide comments on the series' future and its impact on the DCU at large, saying, “This is about the other stories in which this [cliffhanger] will play out,” he said. “Never say never. But right now, this is about the future of the DCU.” Gunn also shared that he spoke with Ryan Reynolds about a Deadpool cameo in Peacemaker and that while the actor was interested, the logistics required to pull off the crossover were ultimately deemed too daunting.Despite Tron: Ares' number one spot debut at the box office last weekend with a $60.5 million global haul, the numbers are disappointingly muted when weighed against projections of $85-95 million and a reported $180 million budget. The film currently holds a 56% on Rotten Tomatoes and B+ Cinemascore.HBO revealed the debut trailer for Game of Thrones spin off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms at New York Comic Con last week and has announced a premiere date of Jan. 18.Bradley Cooper is in talks to star opposite Margot Robbie in the Ocean's Eleven prequel at Warner Bros. Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung is attached to direct with Robbie's Lucky Chap producing.Warner Brothers has announced that an untitled follow up to A Minecraft Movie will hit theaters on July 23rd, 2027. Jared Hess returns to direct and will write the script with Chris Galletta, one of the writers of the original.Disney has officially resumed development on a live action adaptation of Tangled. The project has The Greatest Showman's Michael Gracey attached to direct a script from Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Scarlett Johansson is being eyed to star as Mother Gothel.Christopher Briney, one of the leads of Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty, has joined HBO Max's Emmy-winning comedy Hacks for its upcoming fifth season, which is currently in production.
It's all about comebacks on this week's Moviecast. The Rock is trying to make a comeback with Jumanji 3. Ocean's 14 will bring back all the old actors it can. NYCC let us know that we'll see the return of X-Men 97, Jessica Jones, and maybe even Luke Cage. Also, DC is cooking up an animated version of Knightfall. #nycc #jumanji3 #knightfall #dc #marvel #dcu #netflix #streaming #oceans14 #tv #aycg #allyoucangeek

(see below) We're joined by SFFilm's Director of Education Keith Zwölfer and Education Manager Soph Schultz Rocha who discuss the importance of a thriving film culture. The program is broken up into two experience levels: the Starter Lab, which is for beginner students looking to learn the basics of filmmaking and enhance their storytelling skills; and the Advanced Lab, which is for students who want to build upon their existing skills. All students dive deep into the filmmaking process by learning about screenwriting, storyboarding, production, cinematography, sound, editing, and much more.Through a combination of lectures, hands-on exercises, guest speakers, discussions, and workshops, campers form a deeper understanding of the production process from conceptualization to post-production, transform their ideas into proper screenplays, and create group short films of their own. Throughout the duration of camp, students create a short film and rotate roles to experience all positions on a film set including director, cinematographer, sound, and grip. Students will gain technical skills such as editing with Adobe Premiere Pro, screenplay formatting, learning how to use professional cameras, as well as lighting and sound equipment. Camp culminates with a screening of the student's final films and a walk on the red carpet! The curriculum is supplemented with guest speakers of SFFILM supported and Bay Area filmmakers. In recent years guests have included Academy Award nominated Jim Lebrecht (Crip Camp), Bret Parker (Pixar), Academy Award nominated filmmaker Trevor Jimenez (Weekends), Alice Wu (The Half of It), aSupport the showThanks for listening and for your support! On this week's episode, I had the joy of talking with writer Arisa White and visual artist Daniel Minter about their new public artworks, both of which were commissioned by Indigo Arts Alliance and the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens on the occasion of the Deconstructing the Boundaries: Tending to Communities symposium this summer. Daniel Minter is an acclaimed American artist, recognized primarily for his work in painting and assemblage, whose themes often focus on experiences of displacement and diaspora. Minter's creative journey is deeply informed by extensive travel across Africa and worldwide destinations of the African Diaspora. Minter's work has been featured in and acquired by numerous esteemed institutions and galleries, including the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, Portland Museum of Art, Seattle Art Museum, Charles H. Wright Museum, Bowdoin College Art Museum, Farnsworth Art Museum, The David C. Driskell Center, and more.Arisa White is an associate professor of English and Creative Writing at Colby College. She is the author of Who's Your Daddy, co-editor of Home Is Where You Queer Your Heart, and co-author of Biddy Mason Speaks Up, the second book in the Fighting for Justice Series for young readers. In collaboration with composer Jessica Jones, Post Pardon: The Opera is Arisa's librettist debut. Her poetry is widely published, and her collections have been nominated for an NAACP Image Award and a Lambda Literary Award, and have won the Per Diem Poetry Prize, the Maine Literary Award, the Nautilus Book Award, an Independent Publisher Book Award, and the Golden Crown Literary Award. As the creator of the Beautiful Things Project, Arisa curates poetic collaborations that are rooted in Black queer women's ways of knowing. She is a Cave Canem fellow and serves on the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance Community Advisory Board. Mostly FilmWe're back this week with a quick dip into capes, comebacks, and comedy as Mostly Film returns with another round of hot takes and popcorn-powered opinions.
Wow, what an honor it was to have Carrie-Anne Moss on the show this week! You of course know Carrie-Anne from her iconic portrayal of Trinity in the Matrix. She also played Natalie in Memento and Jeri Hogarth in Jessica Jones and she's currently starring as Greta Nelso alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in FUBAR. We talk about it in the episode, but Carrie-Anne is one of those actors, like Sigourney Weaver, who has become known for playing strong women. But I love how her strong women always have this layer of vulnerability. I've truly looked up to her for so long and it was amazing to get to know her a bit better! We talk about her film roles and the way she thinks about acting as a trade. We also discuss her experience being a mom to three kids and how that led her into meditation— if you're curious to take one of her guided meditations on Annapurna Living, I recommend checking it out! This was a really fun and meaningful conversation for me and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the parallels between my career and Carrie-Anne's and what it's like to be responsible for a fan's queer awakening. About Jamie Neumann Jamie Neumann is a force on screen, known for disappearing into roles that live in the gray area. She broke out with her powerful performance as a sex worker-turned-activist in HBO's The Deuce, and kept audiences on edge in Lovecraft Country, Jessica Jones, and Donald Glover's Atlanta, where she played a foster parent whose well-meaning liberalism went dangerously off course. She's worked across genres and with some of the most visionary creators in the game—David Simon, Jordan Peele, Donald Glover, and more—always bringing raw intensity and soul to her characters. With recent credits including Twisted Metal, 61st Street, NOS4A2, and American Rust, Jamie continues to prove she's not just in the scene—she is the scene. In this episode of I Am Refocused Radio, Jamie Neumann joins us to break down her latest role in THIRSTY and what it really takes to portray a woman balancing purpose, power, and personal sacrifice. We talk about the cost of ambition, the emotional layers of playing Audrey Allen, and how Jamie chooses roles that shake the audience out of comfort and into truth. If you're into storytelling that hits hard, characters that leave a mark, and conversations that go deeper than the script—this one's for you.ABOUT THIRSTY, AVAILABLE ON DEMAND THIRSTY follows the upstart campaign of an audacious attorney Audrey Allen (Jamie Neumann) as she strives to unseat the incumbent mayor of Oakland. Driven by her rough upbringing and altruistic desires, Audrey is willing to endure the relentless demands of campaign life. This is a woman who fights to win. Audrey's criticism of the popular incumbent mayor Maya King (Brandee Evans) motivates a veteran of the political game Anne Dixon (Kyra Sedgwick) to bolster her struggling campaign. Audrey's skeptical husband Tae Kim (Sung Kang) views Anne's behavior as machiavellian but fails to convince his wife to move more cautiously. Audrey is blinded by ambition and subsequently thrust into the limelight with her family in tow.Anne's go-to political operative Valentina Ramos (Briana Venskus-Vazquez) isn't Audrey's fan but reluctantly becomes her campaign manager anyway. They clash over tactical issues and Audrey's charismatic field manager Derek Williams (Tyler Lepley) often steps in as referee. As the campaign gains momentum, T.K. becomes increasingly alienated and the tensions in their marriage escalate. Audrey's daughter Eunbi also feels the sting of her mother's absence. At Anne's behest, Audrey keeps her troubled sister Sonia (Thora Birch) at arm's length but this strategy soon becomes untenable. As election day approaches, Audrey is guilt-ridden for not being a more involved mother, sister and wife but nevertheless remains consumed by election fever. Soon she is confronted with impossible decisions that put both her career and her family on the line. Audrey must reconcile the seduction of the political game with her own moral compass or risk losing it all. Here's the trailer:Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFDLmvITe1c Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.
