On the day of Wonder Man, Marvel also gifted us with the teaser trailer for Daredevil: Born Again season two, which will begin on March 24. Our full cast of characters returns, with the teaser even showing Foggy Nelson, and debuts Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones in the MCU. The eight episode second season looks promising and we know a third season is already greenlit.Lucasfilm's first property of 2026 will be the animated series Maul: Shadow Lord. The show's trailer dropped online last Friday to acclaim from fans of Star Wars animation. The eight episode series will premiere with two episodes on April 6 and release two episodes a week leading up to the finale episodes on May 4th - a significant day for Star Wars fandom. The character of Maul debuted in The Phantom Menace and has a storied reputation through other animated properties such as The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.It's Mattel's next outing bringing toys to life on screen as the trailer for Masters of the Universe premiered a few days ago. The popular 1980s franchise is becoming lifelike through performances of Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and more stars like Idris Elba, Kristen Wiig, and Sasheer Zamata.Christina Hodson has been tapped to write The Brave and the Bold, an upcoming Batman film set in the DCU for DC Studios with Andy Muschietti set to direct. Hodson has several other DC credentials, having worked with Andy Muschietti on The Flash. She also penned the Margot Robbie-led Birds of Prey movie. Her other credits include the 2018 Transformers movie Bumblebee.Max Parker, star of the Netflix series Boots, has joined the cast of Prime Video's God of War adaptation series. Parker will play Heimdall who first appeared in the second God of War game, God of War Ragnarök, as an antagonist.Oscar nominations have been announced and Ryan Coogler's Sinners set a record with 16 total nominations. Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another followed with 13 nominations. Warner Bros. scored 30 nominations in total, tying its record number of nominations set in 2005. Indie distributor Neon and streamer Netflix had 18 noms each, while Focus Features had 13 and A24 had 11. Netflix's Frankenstein, A24's Marty Supreme and Neon's Sentimental Value all garnered nine nominations, while Focus' Hamnet had eight. All are in the marquee Best Picture race joining Sinners, One Battle, Focus' Bugonia, Apple's F1, Neon's The Secret Agent and Netflix's Train Dreams.Illumination and Nintendo's The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will now open on Wednesday, April 1 instead of April 3. Illumination also revealed an extended teaser trailer that features the first look at Yoshi.A massive winter storm impacting much of the U.S. is taking a toll on the domestic box office as numerous communities and cities advised citizens to stay home, and more than 400 hundred theaters closed. Overall revenue is expected to fall to the lowest point of the year to date. The weekend's winner is new thriller Mercy, starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. On Saturday, MGM Amazon Studios reported an estimated $12.6 million opening before the extent of theater closures was known. And as the doctors fight to keep him alive, Matt mentally resets his mission. He decides this is war with Wilson Fisk, and war requires honesty. So he tells his entire team the truth: he's Daredevil. No more secrets.  When he gets back out on the streets in his mind's version of events, he barely has time to breathe before a bone-knife-throwing assassin attacks him. And when he limps home afterward, who's waiting in his apartment? Elektra. They fall back into old patterns, but when Matt asks her to stay and join the team.  From there, Matt and his crew move aggressively—they decide to kidnap John Wesley, Fisk's right-hand man, to force him to spill how the election was rigged. The plan blows up in their faces, but somehow, they still manage to grab Wesley. They lose his guards, get attacked by more bone knives, and end up scrambling into a church for cover…where Fisk's assassin, Vigil, is already waiting. Daredevil and Elektra take him on in a brutal fight. Elektra almost kills him, Daredevil stops her, and in that split second, Vigil drives a bone knife straight into Wesley's back. The only man who could presumably tell them how Fisk did it is now dead—Elektra walks out.  While out on patrol he's ambushed by a swarm of Stilt-Men, forced into an arena, and dropped into a who's-who gauntlet of enemies—Klaw, Ikari, Electro, Gladiator, Typhoid Mary. But Matt turns the tables, manipulating the villains into fighting each other for the “honor” of killing him. It works. At least until he reaches the roof, hoping to catch his breath, and is immediately shot by Bullseye. Matt's seconds from dying again when he's unexpectedly saved…by his magically created, now-fully-real brother, Mike Murdock, who claims he can help end all of this.  Mike's intel leads Matt straight to the truth: the Mad Thinker helped Fisk rig the mayoral election. With that, Matt convinces the DA to prosecute the mayor and put Daredevil himself on the witness stand. A parade of heroes testify. Fisk slips up under questioning, admits to “adjustments,” and Fisk loses the court case and he's recalled as mayor. It's a victory…until Vigil returns. Daredevil unmasks him—and sees his own face staring back.  And that's when the illusion cracks. We realize the entire story, every moment, every battle, every twist, has been in Matt's head while he lies unconscious in the hospital. He's still fighting for his life. In the quiet between heartbeats, he sees Karen Page beside him. She tells him gently that it isn't his time. The panels go dark…until a single heartbeat rises from the silence. Daredevil isn't dead. He's choosing to fight.  In March we get the Man Without Fear limited series from writer Jed Mackay and artists Danilo Beyruth, Stefano Landini, Iban Coello, and Paolo Villanelli. It's a haunting bridge between Daredevil's fall and whatever comes next. It's a really interesting story – deserving our spotlight for this week.  In April, Volume 6 starts with a new creative team – Writer Chip Zdarsky and art by Marco Checchetto. The opening storyline is titled “Know Fear”. In it we see Matt Murdock back on the streets as Daredevil—too early, too shaky, and already in over his head. Between flashbacks of young Matt talking to a priest, we watch him struggle through patrols, botch a robbery takedown, and accidentally kill one of the thieves due to head trauma. New-to-NYC Detective Cole North zeroes in on him immediately, refusing to play the usual “look the other way” game, and soon Daredevil is shot, chased, cornered, and nearly arrested as Wilson Fisk—now Mayor—watches from a distance, thrilled to see his old enemy unraveling.  Things spiral further as Daredevil finds himself rescued—and judged—by the one man he never wants to owe anything to: the Punisher. Frank Castle drags Matt to his hideout and brutally challenges the idea that Daredevil is still a hero. A prisoner dies, blows are exchanged, and Matt ultimately escapes, injured and ashamed, just as the NYPD begins questioning Cole North's escalating methods… even while Fisk quietly rewards him for keeping the pressure on.  The breaking point comes when Matt is rescued from the Owl's men by Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Danny Rand—street-level peers who've been watching him self-destruct in real time. After Matt admits he accidentally killed the robber, the others acknowledge they've made mistakes too… but they also agree he's too unstable to keep wearing the mask. Matt slips away, heads home, and meets Spider-Man waiting for him on the rooftop—delivering the final gut punch: Matt's done. No more Daredevil. And if he suits up again? His own friends will stop him.  In the final full story arch of 2019, “No Devils, Only God”, Eight weeks after Daredevil “died,” Matt Murdock is trying hard to live a normal life—working as a probation officer, meeting ex-cons, even starting a romance with Mindy from the local bookstore—but the shadows keep tugging at him. NYC is shifting: Fisk is secretly beating inmates to a pulp while publicly claiming he's going legitimate, and Cole North—now targeted by dirty cops and nearly killed—is the lone detective trying to clean up a precinct drowning in corruption. As Matt finds himself drawn into Mindy's family dinner, he realizes her in-laws are the Libris crime family… just moments before a sniper attack (courtesy of the Owl) leaves one man wounded and Matt forced to intervene without revealing who he once was.  The city whispers that Daredevil is back, but Matt insists he's not—at least, not fully. He shadows crimes with his senses and quietly calls them in, plays tortured theology chess with Reed Richards, and wrestles with whether God expects him to rise again. He slips into a makeshift costume to save a runaway boy from gang life, and that taste of heroism only deepens his conflict. Meanwhile, Matt's relationship with Mindy crosses into an affair, complicating everything just as the Owl escalates his war, burning down her bookstore and pulling Matt in deeper.  When Cole North is targeted again—his partner beaten so badly he later dies—Matt can't stay retired. He joins North in the police station brawl, stopping the detective from killing corrupt officers and telling him to pin the chaos on Daredevil. On today's episode, I talk to comics writer Brian Michael Bendis. Originally from Cleveland, OH, Brian knew from an early age he wanted to make comics. His late teens and twenties were spent making his own comics, some of them published by Caliber Press, and in 1996, a lot of this work was collected together at Image. This led to working on the Spawn spin-off Sam and Twitch, and in 1998, he began releasing Powers, which would go on to garner both critical and commercial success, as well as Harvey and Eisner Awards. In 2000, Brian co-created Miles Morales when he began writing Ultimate Spider-Man. The next year, Brian began a defining run on Daredevil and co-created Jessica Jones with the start of Alias. And this is essentially just the first decade of his career! Since then, he went on to write defining runs on comics like Avengers and New Avengers, events like House of M, books like Superman and Action Comics for DC, and most recently, for the 25th anniversary of Powers, Brian and artist Michael Avon Oeming are creating a new 12-issue series at Dark Horse, and it's great! Let's rundown the biggest headlines from Marvel Television:Wonder Man released its official teaser trailer alongside the announcement that the 8-episode series had been delayed from December 2025 to January 27, 2026Fans in attendance were treated to an exclusive trailer for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, presented by Daredevil actor Charlie Cox who was reunited with Jessica Jones actor Krysten Ritter. The series was confirmed for a March 2026 release on Disney Plus and we also learned Wilson Bethel's Bullseye will return and Matthew Lillard will be an antagonist to Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin. Separate from NYCC, but still worth mentioning on the subject of Daredevil: Born Again, speaking with Entertainment Tonight Marvel TV Head Brad Winderbaum shared the season's connection to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, saying "We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there's coherence there. We don't want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it is important."VisionQuest and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 were confirmed for Fall 2026 release windows, while X-Men '97 Season 2 was announced for Summer 2026. All three shows debuted exclusive trailers not yet released to the public and both animated series confirmed their third seasons to be in development.On the DCU TV side of things, Peacemaker Season 2 aired its final episode last week, and while we'll avoid getting specific with spoilers given the recency, when asked about a third season James Gunn did provide comments on the series' future and its impact on the DCU at large, saying, “This is about the other stories in which this [cliffhanger] will play out,” he said. “Never say never. But right now, this is about the future of the DCU.” Gunn also shared that he spoke with Ryan Reynolds about a Deadpool cameo in Peacemaker and that while the actor was interested, the logistics required to pull off the crossover were ultimately deemed too daunting.Despite Tron: Ares' number one spot debut at the box office last weekend with a $60.5 million global haul, the numbers are disappointingly muted when weighed against projections of $85-95 million and a reported $180 million budget. Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung is attached to direct with Robbie's Lucky Chap producing.Warner Brothers has announced that an untitled follow up to A Minecraft Movie will hit theaters on July 23rd, 2027. Jared Hess returns to direct and will write the script with Chris Galletta, one of the writers of the original.Disney has officially resumed development on a live action adaptation of Tangled. The project has The Greatest Showman's Michael Gracey attached to direct a script from Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Scarlett Johansson is being eyed to star as Mother Gothel.Christopher Briney, one of the leads of Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty, has joined HBO Max's Emmy-winning comedy Hacks for its upcoming fifth season, which is currently in production.

WGA-nominated writer, director and USC professor Ted Braun, and TV and film writer and exec. producer Melissa Rosenberg, joined me to talk about reimagining screenwriting education with the MFA in Screenwriting at Bennington College. Ted Braun is the Program's Director and the WGA-nominated writer and director of Darfur Now, Betting on Zero, and Viva Maestro. He is a Professor of Screenwriting and Joseph Campbell Endowed Chair of Cinematic Ethics at USC's School of Cinematic Arts and was named one of Variety's Top Ten Teachers in Film and TV in 2018. Melissa Rosenberg is a writer and executive producer known for Twilight, Jessica Jones, and a 1986 graduate of Bennington College, where she is now a Trustee. She helped create and showrun Jessica Jones and adapted the Twilight film series, while also serving as head writer for Dexter. Bennington College will admit just 12 gifted, driven writers—students who are serious about building a body of work and launching a professional screenwriting career—to their inaugural class of The MFA in Screenwriting. Braun notes, “We're looking for students with imagination and hunger—those who want to develop a foundation for a decades-long screenwriting career.” The MFA in Screenwriting at Bennington College prepares writers for a life as creative and professional leaders in the evolving landscape of film and television.
