Tally Koren arrived in London with 1 suitcase and a dream in the late 90th, and against all odds became an international Singer - Songwriter. Despite family objections and countless music business rejections, what kept her going was, turning every minus to plus, taking every refusal to become better, and every hard situation to do something good to herself and others. Her turning point to fulfil her childhood dreams and to become a singer happened at the age of 26, while she was in a very un-happy marriage.A singing teacher immediately recognised her talent and thought that her low voice is reminding of Karen carpenter. In 2007 Tally made the decision to make her first album and not to wait for the record company.Despite one of the top radios plugger telling her that she doesn't have a chance to make it nationally being over 40. She made the choice to listen to the words of her song “Beauty of The Duty “saying “the only thing that holds you back is you”. Her song became a National success on the BBC radio 3 weeks later. Many of my other singles been playlisted with over 1000 radio stations in the UK and around the world.Performances include: the Royal Albert Hall, The National Arboretum, The Belgrade Theatre, Pizza on the Park, Pizza Express, The JW3, Electric Carousel, The Soho Revue Bar, the Forum (Kentish Town), Tate Britain to Celebrate William Blake's birthday,The House of Lords, opening a football match at the MK Dons Stadium.Music in Films: “Rotten Fruit” Windmills of Your Mind, and Man Who Sold the World.TV advert for Bell Atlantic, USA phone company. Her purpose in life is to inspire people to do what they love.“For me, Free Will is not just a song - it's a journey about resilience, commitment, and my life purpose to inspire people to make the best choices in life, have the courage to go for their dreams, never give up, and take every rejection to become better.”Find Tally Koren on all social media platforms @tallykorenGet your Jumpstart Journal here: http://subscribepage.io/YCauoKWork with me: www.karaleighgarrison.com/coaching

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the massacre of more than 33,000 Jews by Nazi occupying forces in the ravine of Babyn Yar in the suburbs of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. The figures rose to more than 100,000 over the following two years of Nazi occupation. Songs for Babyn Yar marks this anniversary with a performance featuring three Ukrainian musicians – Yuriy Gurzhy, Svetlana Kundish and Mariana Sadovska – who have composed and arranged the music. Drawing on diverse voices, including survivors' testimonies, traditional Yiddish and Ukrainian folk songs and poetry, they journey deep into 100 years of their country's history to reveal forgotten stories and silenced songs. It is a new act of remembrance that also asks how to move forward from a tragedy that has never been fully commemorated. After a performance at JW3 on Sunday 21 November, it will tour to Ukraine and there are plans for further UK performances. Songs for Babyn Yar is directed by Josephine Burton, artistic director of Dash Arts, who spoke to JR's arts editor Judi Herman about the story of the production and how it tells a powerful story.Songs for Babyn Yar runs Sunday 21 November. 7.30pm. £15 (in-person), £5 (online only). I was hoping Jonny Gould's Jewish State would feature more live events. But for the pesky pandemic, this would've been a much more frequent occurrence already. So it's with a great pleasure that this episode records a wonderful night in aid of Jewish Blind and Disabled as I took to the JW3 stage with Robert Rinder. In this frank conversation, Rob reveals how his hit daytime show, Judge Rinder was pitched as a remake of 70s courtroom drama, Crown Court. He also discusses the life changing attitudes which came from his deeply moving episode of “Who Do You Think You Are”, which chronicled his grandfather's miraculous escape from a Nazi death camp. It's not too late to make a donation to Jewish Blind & Disabled. On the night we raised a phenomenal £95,000 in the room. James King BBC Radio 2 (previously Radio 1) Rhianna Dhillon (BBC 6music, also previously Radio 1) return to Flixwatcher to review James’ choice John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (JW3) picks up exactly where Chapter 2 ends, Wick (Keanu Reeves) is now “excommunicado” after an unauthorized killing on the grounds of The Continental Hotel and is on the run from every hitman in New York. JW3 takes the ante that was upped in JW2 and turns everything up to 11. The mythology of the High Table is expanded, Wick travels to Casablanca, there are horse fu and attack dogs, even more, ultra-violence, more humour, and Jerome Flynn. Chances are if you enjoyed JW and JW2 you’ll probably like JW3 (possibly it could be your favourite in the franchise so far), if you didn’t you’ll probably give this one a miss. If you’ve always wanted to see John Wick kill someone with a book then this film is the one for you. Scores [supsystic-tables id=157] Rhianna remains unconvinced but it’s Kobi’s favourite of the franchise so far, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum scores 3.46 overall. For this week JW2 James Dyer (Empire Magazine and Pilot TV Magazine) and Chris Hewitt (Empire Magazine) join Flixwatcher (remotely) to review James’ choice John Wick: Chapter 2. John Wick: Chapter 2 (JW2) is the second film in the John Wick franchise, Keanu Reeves returns as John Wick and Chad Stahelski returns to direct. Having come out of retirement to avenge the death of his dog Wick now wants to go back in retirement but can only do this by clearing his debt in the form of a marker (a novelty-sized coin). Rejecting the marker is a violation of one of the two rules of the underworld and Wick is forced to carry out one last hit. JW2 brings the action and high kill count from JW and adds extra while taking some of the action to Rome and weaving in a little more of the mythology. JW2 is everything you would expect, drawing on martial arts and using stunt choreography over special effects keep the fight scenes fresh. Chances are if you enjoyed JW you’ll probably like JW2 (possibly it could be your favorite in the franchise so far), if you didn’t you’ll probably give this one a miss. In John Wick Reeves has created the ultimate fanboy dream hitman, after a long period in the wilderness of terrible films he has finally found his groove. He is clearly enjoying every second, his deadpan delivery (much mocked in many of his other films) just works and he gets to flex his gun-fu muscles. With a death count of 128 and an ending perfectly set up for JW3 there is a lot for fanboys to enjoy. Scores [supsystic-tables id=156] If you’ve always wanted to see John Wick kill someone with a pencil this film is the one for you. JW2 scores highly on recommendability but lose points on the small screen score (best experienced on the big screen was universally agreed) to score 3.75 overall. What do you guys think? The assassin underground world gets ever so bigger with the latest installment of the John Wick franchise. More secret societies, more secret governments, less people NOT in the underground. Parabellum translates to “prepare for war.” Our butts and backs were not ready for the war of our seats in B&B theaters’ MX4D. How did the high octane action play out as we literally were in high octane action ourselves? Listen in to find out. First and foremost, B&B Theaters is not endorsing or sponsoring this post. We talk about an aspect of their theaters, because its in one of their theaters that we saw John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. Because of a technical issue when seeing Shazam! we were given free passes to another film. We chose to use them to see John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. Only, it wasn’t just a regular ticket; this was for John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum in MX4D!!!!! What is MX4D? In a nutshell, its motion seats and atmospheric effects used to enhance the movie viewing experience. The seats move in all directions, the backs punch you, and water sprays in your face. At times you can feel the wind in your hair when there is a car chase. And at other times you can smell what’s happening on screen. And with such a gun heavy movie as John Wick, a strobe flash for virtually every gun shot. Is this worth it? Maybe, maybe not. Let us tell you about the movie first. All in all, there’s not much to say about the third chapter of John Wick. If you’ve seen 1 and 2, you know what you're getting into. John having to fight his way to survival in endless close quarters hand to hand, gun to gun combat. It’s the choreography that is the spectacle here. Keanu Reeves doesn’t say much in this movie at all; at times he even quotes himself from The Matrix. Halle Berry and her character’s attack dogs added a nice change of pace for the action. Mark Dacascos’s Zero made for a formidable antagonist that at times made the audience think perhaps John Wick has met his match. Ian McShane and Laurence Fishburne shine as they reprise their roles in the franchise. The most surprising and rewarding was Lance Reddick’s concierge character Charon. In past installments he’s been much like a concierge, there to answer questions and serve the needs of customers not getting involved in any sort of action. Here he arms himself not so much to defend John Wick, but to defend the hotel he loyally serves in. Is MX4D worth it? Depends. John Wick is not a movie that requires a lot of attention to follow the plot. It’s not like trying to follow the plot of Memento where every frame is littered with subtext and clues to the truth of the narrative. John Wick is a shoot ‘em up film with lots of cool action… and that’s about it. When being jostled around by motion controlled hydraulic seats, you don’t want to worry about subtle plot details. The seats were harder than traditional seats and for the case of some of our butts, they started to go numb toward the end. With that aside, both the Brothers Brotastic couldn’t stop laughing at how ridiculous the insane motion could be sometimes. Andrew personally thought the MX4D made John Wick 3 much more enjoyable than if he had seen it in a standard theater. Andrew gives JW3 1 ticket, he’s glad he saw it once. Philip gave JW3 2 tickets. He thoroughly enjoys the franchise, and can’t wait to see where chapter 4 takes him. Until next time, we’ll see you a the movies. And don’t forget to check your ticket stubs.

West End musical theatre veteran and professional singer Tracy Kashi is a warm, friendly and versatile vocalist and musician, with an Iranian, Israeli background. Based in North London, she has worked as an actress and singer and appeared many times at the Royal Festival Hall. She made her West End debut in Rent at The Prince of Wales and has worked with stars such as Petula Clark, Idina Menzel, Bobby McFerrin. She can be found singing Jazz at Ronnie Scotts or Kurt Weil at The Royal Festival Hall, and is the featured voice in the musical score for ITV’s Maigret with Rowan Atkinson. Her new show My Cancer Gap Year is an uplifting musical about her very recent experience with breast cancer—from shock diagnosis to tentative recovery—and combines comedy song and candid advice. This is Your London Legacy. “What do we humans do when stuff is hard to talk about? Very often we turn to humor to diffuse and deflect and communicate.” [10:26] Tracy doesn’t identify as a “cancer survivor” or undertaking a “cancer journey”. She feels as though she has had an experience with a disease and is still here. Hence the name of her show—Cancer Gap Year—which succinctly sums up how she feels about her experience, without diminishing the struggles that have come with her diagnosis and treatment. The show ties together song and comedy to convey Tracy’s experience—a mashup that she openly admits was difficult deliver, as she had never done any sort of stand up comedy before. She didn’t want to offend anyone by making light of sensitive material, but in the end she feels she was able to be authentic about the ridiculous parts of her “gap year” while treating the disease others may have experienced with respect. Tracy admits there was a bit of imposter syndrome at play, something she has had to overcome over the course of her career as a performer. However, her 20 minute version of the show was a bit of a trial run, and one Tracy was quite happy with. “Perfect is the enemy of the good.” [32:58] During Tracy’s diagnosis and treatment she took notes on everything from first finding her lump after a grimy ride on the Northern Line, to talking about bureaucratic insensitivities and her response to treatment—Tracy and her husband latched onto the ridiculous and laughed about it. It was healing for them. The show is Tracy’s way of doing something useful with her experience; raising awareness, raising money, showing respect and gratitude for everyone that helped her, and helping others cope and heal with the power of laughter and performance. If you are interested in seeing Tracy perform My Cancer Gap Year you can sign up at TracyKashi.com (http://www.tracykashi.com/welcome-1) to get gig info, watch videos, and find out more about her work. Tracy can also be booked for coaching. She has two upcoming shows; one on July 25th and another (the big one) on October 31st on the main stage at JW3. Dotted around London, in the concentrated areas where Orthodox Jews have made their home, groups of believers meet to pray and share their faith. Nothing unusual in that, but what make these gatherings significant are that women are leading the prayers, and they are sharing their celebration with men, These prayer groups are called Partnership Minyans, and have become a symbol of a major shift in Judaism making many traditional believers extremely uncomfortable With a panel in London, Emma Barnett asks what does this mean for this deeply traditional faith? Does this challenge to the structures of worship signal a new era of feminism with Orthodox Judaism? In the second programme of our special series to mark the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation led by Martin Luther, which split the Catholic church, Emma leads a panel discussion from the JW3 centre in north London to meet the ‘reformers’ to explore how they want their faith to change its attitudes to women and those whose resistance to it is based on the centuries old deep teaching of their faith. In a recent post covering a discussion between Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Maajid Nawaz at the JW3 in London, I wrote the following regarding their critics: Allegations — often nothing more than insinuations — have been made that Hirsi Ali and Nawaz have lied about who they are, that they don’t mean what they say, and that they are either greedy and self-serving or greedy and self-hating or both. A paradigmatic example of what the late Christopher Hitchens called “the pseudo-Left new style, whereby if your opponent thought he had identified your lowest possible motive, he was quite certain that he had isolated the only real one.” Hitchens offered this remark, not just as a matter of observation, but from personal experience. He had set out the moral arguments in favor of the removal of Saddam Hussein at abundant length and with a rare passion and clarity. Salient to his advocacy was the Iraqi regime’s mass-murder of Kurds and Marsh Arabs, and the torments suffered by Iraqis more generally at the hands of a despotism of uncommon paranoia … The post Bad Faith: Sam Harris, Omer Aziz, and Islam appeared first on Quillette.

In the October issue of Jewish Renaissance, Arthur Smith gives Judi Herman the not so sweet lowdown on his show, Arthur Smith Sings Leonard Cohen, with which the gravel-voiced wit makes his debut at JW3 in December. At age 36 Franz Kafka was still living at home, a petty bureaucrat, a failed artist, a timid Jewish son. Ruling and ruining his life was his overbearing father, Hermann. Kafka wrote a letter to his father in which he reveals deep connections between his life and his fiction. As he confesses, "All my writing was about you". Adapted from this monumental (and undelivered) letter, Kafka and Son is a blistering, often hilarious, dissection of domestic authority, starring Canadian actor Alon Nashman. Kafka and Son has toured Europe and now it returns to the UK as part of JW3’s Kafka Festival, 24 to 25 October. Judi Herman caught up with Alon Nashman when he performed his acclaimed one-man play in The Hague and after the performance he spoke to her for JR OutLoud.
