Hi, I'm Brooke Czarnecki I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian. While I help others find food freedom now, it wasn't that long ago that I used to do some of the same things many of us do in the “pursuit of health” (that actually weren't healthy at all!). In todays episode of the Actively Fueled Podcast, Brooke shares her own nutrition journey and covers topics including:-Disordered eating and how sneaky thoughts can mask as normal/healthy behavior  -Orthorexia and focusing heavily on eating "perfectly"  -Exercise and RED-s -Intuitive Eating  My story is a part of me and my story is the reason I am able to help so many incredible people. My life used to revolve around food rules and restrictions. I thought my body was something that had to be controlled in order to stay “in check.” I was terrified of what might happen if my body changed. Letting go of the restrictions and rules wasn't easy but I wouldn't change a thing about my story. My story is a part of me and my story is the reason I am able to help so many incredible people. YOU deserve to live a life free of food rules and restrictions because you see – it's not just about the food. It's about living a more empowered and inspired life that isn't defined by your body.Brooke Czarnecki is the owner of Intentful Nutrition, LLC. Brooke's mission at Intentful Nutrition is for all individuals to tune out diet culture, understand their unique definition of health and for all individuals to treat their body with dignity and respect. We help runners and athletes understand exactly how to fuel their body and help individuals in eating disorder recovery reconnect with their mind and body. Interested in a 1:1 consult with me? Wouldn't it be great if you lived a stress-free life, ate all the nourishing food your body needs, and never had to worry about the effects of aging?   The wellness industry loves to prey on women in midlife (you and me) who are experiencing symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and weight gain.   In this episode, Val Schonberg RDN is back giving you the evidence-based nitty gritty on what supplements can support women in midlife and which ones are more hype than they're worth.   In our conversation, you'll hear what supplements can be the most effective for women in perimenopause based on current research, and how to tell if a supplement is from a reputable company or of high quality.   Val uncovers which supplements promoted by the media for women in midlife don't have research to support their claims and worse, show harmful effects - like adaptogens.   There's been a lot of hype recently about adaptogens being used to support stress response and reduce burnout. Val describes what adaptogens are and if there's research to back their reduce-burnout claims.   Finally, Val shares her top 3 recommendations of supplements for perimenopause - especially if you only want to take the bare minimum to get the most vitality out of this season in your life.    Val Schonberg is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with a master's degree in Nutrition Science from the University of Minnesota.   She is Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics, a Certified Menopause Practitioner with the North American Menopause Society and a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.   Val owns EnlightenU Nutrition Consulting, LLC, a private practice in Atlanta, Georgia where she specializes in nutrition for recreational and professional athletes, dancers and performing artists, women in midlife and menopause, and individuals with disordered eating concerns.
