In this episode of the Kidney Stone Diet podcast, Jill Harris discusses the importance of understanding nutritional deficiencies and their impact on preventing kidney stones. She explores how deficiencies in hydration, calcium, and other nutrients can increase the risk of kidney stones, particularly in individuals with malabsorption issues or those who have undergone bariatric surgery. She emphasizes a balanced diet and gives practical strategies to reduce kidney stone risk, while also encouraging listeners to maintain hope and consistency in their diet.TakeawaysNutritional deficiencies can significantly increase the risk of kidney stones.Hydration is crucial; insufficient water intake leads to concentrated urine and stone formation.Calcium deficiency can lead to higher oxalate levels, increasing stone risk.Malabsorption issues, such as those from bariatric surgery, can complicate nutrient absorption.Citrate plays a protective role against kidney stones by surrounding calcium in urine.Eating less processed food can help reduce nutritional deficiencies.Consistency in dietary practices is more important than perfection.Bariatric patients often require higher calcium supplementation due to malabsorption. There is always hope for kidney stone formers; lifestyle changes can lead to improvement.00:00 Introduction02:09 Exploring the Deficiency that Causes Kidney Stones05:31 The Impact of Malabsorption on Stone Formation06:00 Different Types of Deficiencies and Their Effects07:24 Addressing Deficiencies through Diet and Medical Interventions08:20 Consistency and Enjoyment in Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle09:45 The Link Between Deficiency and Kidney Stone Risk10:49 Resources for Kidney Stone Prevention11:16 Encouragement and Hope for Kidney Stone Formers11:43 Conclusion and Call to Action——HAVE A QUESTION? _Leave us a voicemail at (773) 789-8764. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Cindy: I have battled diarrhea for several years, and despite all kinds of stool testing and various diagnosis, I finally diagnosed myself with bile acid malabsorption. I have the classic symptoms. They put me on medication for it, and it is controlling the diarrhea, but I am wondering if I will have to take medication the rest of my life or is there a cure?   Melissa: I trying to adopt a more plant based diet but am concerned about lectins and oxalates. I reading a lot about how they are damaging and consuming a lot of them on a plant based diet can have bad health effects. Can you advise if this is a real issue and how to handle, or if this something not to worry about?   Dionna: Hey, Dr. Cabral. First, a sincere thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing what you do. After a year and a half of being so sick, your Big 5, plus the gut health lab have changed my life! I am in month 2 of the CBO Protocol. We leave for Barbados on March 29th. I will still be about a week or two from finishing the Protocol, and will not have started the Gut Finisher yet. How can I go on vacation, be able to eat, and NOT reverse all the work I've done to get better. Also, I am not a big drinker at all, but on rare occasion, I like to enjoy a cocktail. Is that even a possibility while on the protocol? I want to enjoy vacation but more importantly, not mess up everything I've worked so hard for. Thank you! You are an Earth Angel! REVISED from just a few hours ago. I just wanted to clarify that I will be staying at an All Inclusive Resort while in Barbados. I'm not sure what my food options will look like, which is the basis for my original question. Thank you   Taliitha (tah-leh-thuh, like Tabitha, she/her): Thank you for having this forum to ask questions, and for consistently sharing your knowledge. I have pigmented purpura dermatosis, biopsy confirmed, that comes and goes over most of my body. If you are not familiar, it is a type of capillaritis. Do you have any thoughts on root cause or management? For over 6 months, and currently I am taking rutin and vitamin C in the form of equilife alkalizing vitamin C (based on a research article suggesting this would be helpful), no noticeable effects. Did minerals & metals, organic acids, food sensitivity labs. I am taking DNS, DFVB, B complex, magnesium, adrenal soothe, omega-3, and non-equilife zinc/elderberry gummies, histpro and digestive enzyme. Quarterly detoxes for 1 year with a 21-day, heavy metal detox, just started the CBO protocol.   Tin: I am 15 weeks pregnant and I am taking my time to learn more about prenatal and maternity health. I’m curious what are your thoughts about Oral Glucose Tolerance Test? It usually contains 75g of sugar in the solution and taken after fasting. I'm a bit concerned about this much sugar plus the colorings added to that. My OB said this is required to test for gestational diabetes but heard that test can come out false and inaccurate. My FBS and HbA1c are all good, I take supplements and workout, so I think I have low risk. What are other alternatives for this that has less risk to my body? Thank you again for all that you do.   Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right! - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/2991 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? It's a common cause of chronic diarrhea. When bile acids aren't properly absorbed in your intestines, they build up, upsetting the chemical balance inside. Excess bile acids trigger your colon to secrete extra water, leading to watery stools. Bile acid malabsorption (BAM) is often misdiagnosed as Irritable Bowel Syndrome or is overlooked in individuals with Crohn's disease. Bile Acid Malabsorption happens when the small intestine is unable to direct bile acid back to the liver. This means that the body doesn't absorb water properly and affects digestion. The condition results in what is known as Bile Acid Diarrhoea. How will a new test for Bile Acid Malabsorption be developed? Currently, the only test for bile acid malabsorption is the SeHCAT test which is expensive, time consuming and uses radiation. The team have developed a test which they believe will diagnose the condition more rapidly and cost effectively than the current test. For its initial testing phase, it will be used on stool (poo) samples, and in its second phase the research team will assess whether it can also guide treatment decisions on what dose should be given to individual patients. The aim of the study is to establish a better test for BAM, do the groundwork for a future study of the role of faecal bile acid measurements within the NHS, and use the data collected from this trial to prepare other studies to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of individuals with BAM. Why diagnose bile acid malabsorption? Chronic diarrhea is one of the most common reasons why people get referred to specialist gastroenterology clinics, and can account for as many as 1 in 20 referrals. Bile acid malabsorption is a major cause of chronic diarrhoea and is thought to affect up to 1 million people in the UK. As well as individuals with Crohn's disease, as many as one in three people diagnosed with IBS with diarrhoea (IBS-D) may actually be experiencing BAM but the current gold standard SeCHAT test is only available in certain UK centres. It is also time consuming and costly. In 2012 the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence's Diagnostic Advisory Group concluded that a new test for the diagnosis of BAM was needed. Candida is very tricky to work with so you need to know many of the contributing factors and why it is so hard to get rid of. It's never just one thing, and prsistency is key. Candida Induced Alcohol Poisoning Candida requires sugar as food. This can come in the source of any chemical that ends in “ose” such as glucose, fructose, or sucrose. Carbohydrates such as bread and pasta are also converted by the body into sugars that act as another food source for the yeast. When glucose (from sugars and carbohydrates) is digested by Candida, it creates the alcoholic chemical ethanol and its extremely toxic byproduct, acetaldehyde. Candida and this alcohol, acetaldehyde, are transferred via the placenta to the developing fetus and are capable of doing harm during development. After birth, the baby continues to receive alcohol through the mother's breast milk. Alcohol can cause malnutrition by preventing the body from digesting proteins. Many liquid herbal tinctures contain alcohol. Be sure supplements are alcohol free. Associated problems from alcohol: Aggressive and violent behavior. Alcohol causes damage to areas of the brain that can increase aggressive behavior to violent behavior. Anxiety Lethargy Impaired coordination, speech, and memory loss. Liver damage causing a lowered ability of the body's detoxification processes. Damage to the intestinal lining reducing the ability for proper digestion and absorption of nutrients. Inability of the hormones released by the thyroid to become activated. NOTE: The thyroid may produce an acceptable lab test because it is releasing the proper hormones. The problem is that, once released, the hormones cannot do their jobs due to acetaldehyde inhibiting the working sites needed by those hormones. Malabsorption and malnutrition due to inhibition of pancreatic enzymes and reduced ability for the stomach to produce hydrochloric acid... Today, I'm going to share 22 signs of a magnesium deficiency. Sixty percent of magnesium is in the bone, 20% is in the muscle, 19% is in the soft tissue, and 1% is in the blood. Magnesium deficiency is the most overlooked deficiency because it cannot be detected by a blood test. The top causes of magnesium deficiency include: • Consumption of sugar and refined carbs • Alcohol consumption • Cirrhosis of the liver • NPK fertilizer leads to crops that are low in magnesium • Malabsorption from gut inflammation • Diuretics • PPIs • Gastric bypass surgery • Low vitamin D • Inflammation Diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular disease are all associated with low magnesium. The best sources of magnesium are leafy greens, almonds, and dark chocolate, but some of these foods contain oxalates. Oxalates block the absorption of magnesium. Meat, cheese, and shellfish contain magnesium and do not contain oxalates. Here are 22 surprising signs of magnesium deficiency: • Anxiety • Insomnia • Depression • Migraines • Restless leg syndrome • Muscle cramps • Fatigue • Tourette's syndrome • Oxidative cholesterol • High homocysteine levels • High blood pressure • Calcification of the arteries • Arrhythmias • Stroke • Metabolic syndrome • Polycystic ovarian syndrome • Kidney stones • Higher levels of calcium in the blood • Inflammation • Nystagmus • Asthma Neuromuscular excitability, or tetany, is the number 1 earliest sign of a magnesium deficiency. Tetany is a twitching of the muscles, often affecting the left eye. Magnesium is required for proper nerve function. When you're deficient, the nerves become more excited, leading to faster nerve impulses.

This week we will discuss Bile acid malabsorption (BAM),  a gastrointestinal disease. It's a common cause of chronic diarrhea. When bile acids aren't properly absorbed in your intestines, they build up, upsetting the chemical balance inside. Excess bile acids trigger your colon to secrete extra water, leading to watery stools. What are bile acids? Bile is a substance your liver makes while filtering your blood. Your liver sorts waste products, such as toxins, dead blood cells and excess cholesterol into bile. Bile acids come from synthesizing these products together. The different acids in bile help to stabilize the lipids in the mix and keep them in a liquid form. Your liver sends bile through your bile ducts to your small intestine to help with digestion. Bile acids in your small intestine help break down fats for absorption. When that work is done, they are supposed to be reabsorbed themselves, returning to your circulation and then your liver to be recycled into bile again. What is malabsorption? Malabsorption is any failure of your intestines to absorb all of the chemicals they're meant to. Malabsorption can be a problem with your intestines themselves, or it may result from a chemical imbalance. For example, you may have too much or too little of a certain chemical for your intestines to absorb. Who does bile acid malabsorption affect? BAM has been historically underdiagnosed due to a lack of accessible ways to test for it. But studies now show that at least 30% of those diagnosed with functional diarrhea disorders may have BAM. Functional disorders are those that have no apparent cause and are likely to go undetected during a medical examination, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). BAM is seen in people with conditions such as: Microscopic colitis. Crohn disease. HIV-related enteritis. Diarrhea that persists after a bacterial infection. Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. It can also happen in people who receive certain medical treatments including: Surgical bypass or resection of the ileum, the last section of the small intestine. Gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy). Radiation therapy, especially in the abdominal-pelvic region. Chemotherapy. Metformin, a treatment for type 2 diabetes. What are the symptoms of bile acid malabsorption? Typical symptoms include: Watery diarrhea. Frequent bowel movements. Painful stomach cramps. Urgency and difficulty holding bowel movements in. Some people also have: Abdominal bloating. Gas and gas pain. Steatorrhea (fatty stools.) Indigestion. Long-term symptoms can include: Dehydration. Fatigue. Headaches. Dizziness. Nausea. Weight gain. Weight loss. About half of people have constant symptoms, and the other half only report occasional symptoms. What causes bile acid diarrhea? The symptoms of bile acid malabsorption — primarily, bile acid diarrhea, or BAD — result from the buildup of bile acids in your colon, where food waste turns to poop. Normally, 95% of the bile acids in your small intestine are reabsorbed in the last segment (the ileum) before passing on to your colon. When too many are left over, however, they pass into your large intestine with the rest of the waste. Bile acids in your colon irritate the mucous lining, triggering it to secrete extra fluid and speeding up the muscle contractions that move poop along. This causes frequent, urgent diarrhea and cramping. What causes bile acid malabsorption? What causes bile acids to build up in your intestines is another question. Researchers have classified the possible causes of BAM into four different types. Sometimes they classify BAM as either primary or secondary. Primary BAM is caused by your liver overproducing bile acids (types 2 and 4.) Secondary BAM is caused by damage to your small intestine due to disease, surgery or radiation treatment (types 1 and 3.) Type 1 BAM is caused by a problem with your ileum itself. This is considered true malabsorption, because the problem begins at absorption stage of the bile acid cycle. You may have type 1 BAM if you've had the last part of your small intestine surgically removed, altered or bypassed to treat another condition. Certain diseases, such as Crohn's disease, and treatments such as radiation therapy can also damage the ileum. Significant damage impairs its ability to absorb. Type 2 BAM has sometimes been called “idiopathic,” which means that it happens spontaneously or for unknown reasons. However, current research suggests that it's a problem with the chemical signaling between your intestines and your liver. This signaling is what normally regulates your bile acid cycle (enterohepatic circulation.) Chemicals in your blood signal when your liver should produce and deliver more bile acids and when it's time to stop, reabsorb and recycle them. But with type 2 BAM, your liver doesn't get the memo to stop. So, it keeps sending bile acids — too many for your ileum to absorb. Type 3 BAM is caused by gastrointestinal diseases that can affect your ileum along with other parts of your digestive system. These include celiac disease, chronic pancreatitis and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Type 4 BAM is caused by excessive bile acid production as a side effect of taking Metformin.

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions:    Matt: Hello, I've been seeing/hearing a lot lately about how vegetables are bad for you because of certain defensive toxins they produce to protect against being eating. I see this a lot coming from the carnivore community. I was wondering if there is any validity to the claim that vegetables are “toxic”?   Nana: Hi Dr. Cabral, Thanks to you and your team, I am finally healing after years of chronic inflammation! I am currently on the CBO protocol and the diet has has helped curb some of the symptoms I had been having. However, I am still struggling with scalloped tongue, and thin hair and slow growing nails. I have been eating alot of fruits veggies, oils, and some meat, as well as daily smoothies but I don't see any changes. I am wondering if it is malabsorption of some kind, but I am not sure what next steps to take and I am not currently able to do any functional medicine tests. Any advice? Also, for someone prone to pitta imbalances, is it okay to eat histamine releasing foods like citrus if they are avoiding histamine rich foods like avocado and smoked meats?   Nana: Hi again, I had a question about how to support a loved one with an illness who isn't open to trying non-conventional medicine approaches, and isn't ready to change their diet. How do you help them get better when they aren't ready to do what it takes to get there?   Anonymous: Good morning! Could you recommend a couple of whole-house water filtration systems? They're a big investment so I would want to make sure I get the right one that actually does what it's supposed to do. Also, is it necessary to have both a water filtration and softener system (for health) or will just the filter do? Btw appreciate all that you do!    Paul: Hi Dr. Cabral, I appreciate all your work and I have a question about food sensitivity testing. There are multiple research papers indicating these tests do more harm than good due to multiple factors and can turn people off of eating healthy, nutritious foods simply because of an IgG antibody that was present at the time of the test. How do you coach IHPs to coach patients on results from these types of standard IgG tests? Thank you! Paul   Kelsie: Hi dr Cabral! I have had some constipation for a year or two. Recently I have had harder to pass stool and blood in stool. Would you recommend a colonoscopy in this situation?     Thank you for tuning into today's Cabral HouseCall and be sure to check back tomorrow where we answer more of our community's questions!      - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/2689 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. On today's show I will review my research on how fat malabsorption, gallstone disease, and Hashimoto's are linked. I will review how fats are normally digested, what fat malabsorption is, what gallstone disease is, what some of the treatment options are, and some simple action steps you can take now to get some relief whether you still have a gallbladder or not. . Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let's get started!    Anonymous: Hello doctor, I'd be grateful if you would provide your thoughts about my digestive concern. I pass gas often. Sometimes several times within an hour. It's odorless. It'll begin a couple hours after lunch and continue through the night. I pass a lot of gas in the mornings before having to go number 2. After that i won't have excessive gas until after lunch again. I never feel bloated. I'm not gassy when fasting, it's only after eating whole food meals. I drink a smoothie for breakfast. Lunch and dinner follows your weight maintenance plan from ihp. I eat plant based for 80% of my whole food meals. I take two digestive enzymes with each meal and I use extra enzymes when I eat beans. Thanks in advance for your response. Angie: Hi Dr. Cabral. Thank you for your work and dedication to help people all over the world get well and feel alive again. I have done the detox, parasite protocol and am now doing the CBO protocol and am currently undergoing testing for mold toxicity through my local naturopathic doctor. I have two questions: 1). I will be doing the CBO Finisher after the CBO protocol. My body does not react well to glutamine and it gives me unexplained anxiety. I can take the FM detox levels, but not the 5G in the Healthy Gut Support. Why is that? Because of this, what dosage do you recommend me titrate until I can handle the 5G? 2). If I have high levels of mold and will likely need to repeat or lengthen my treatment, what do you recommend? Should I repeat month 1 and 2 again or continue only certain supplements until I get my levels down? Jen: I am curious why I urinate so much more after a smoothie, than just plain water. Whenever I have a smoothie, I am running to pee multiple times within the following 1-2 hours. I don't have this with water. Thank you! Emma: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have struggled for years with constipation, gas and bloating. I have tried everything in the book and the foods I have the hardest time digesting are vegetables and fruits. I struggle because I know how healthy they are for the gut and everything, but they just make me more constipated and bloated. What do you recommend? Lorena: I take the DNS everyday and recently have done a blood test in which serum vitamin B12 and serum folate were elevated. Does this means there's a deficiency or that I'm taking too much vitamin B? Lorena: I also forgot to ask that I recently did a hair tissue test that showed high magnesium (low potassium) & high zinc (copper normal). I take 400mg of magnesium citrate and 100mg of mag glycinate before bed and the balanced zinc every morning. As an anxious Vata, my body does well with magnesium. But now I'm not sure what to do. Should I stop taking magnesium and zinc? Man every time we start a new episode I'm like hey have we really done that many episodes.   Pastor Newms: [0:43] No you've done that many episodes.   Pastor Bill: [0:48] No you make it sound like I'm much older than you are. Not much.   Pastor Newms: [1:00] Actually like five years older than me and she isn't like 17 actually. I think you're aren't you like 11 years older.   Pastor Bill: [1:13] I will be definitely not I will be turning 40 in January.   Pastor Newms: [1:22] 11 years older than me yeah cuz I'm only 29 I don't know which time I did I don't know man.   Pastor Bill: [1:38] I know how to count one to skip a few 99 100.   Pastor Newms: [1:50] Nothing it doesn't work three minutes.   Pastor Bill: [2:18] So did you hear they found a case of the Lambda variant in like like I think Louisiana. Somebody's ahead of the Curve.   Pastor Newms: [2:30] No   Pastor Bill: [2:36] Let's go over our Greek letters Alpha Beta Delta Gamma Epsilon Lambda where did Epsilon go.   Pastor Newms: [2:46] Well to be fair.   Pastor Bill: [2:48] Where's the Epsilon variant at?   Pastor Newms: [2:51] To be fair it might just not be here it might be somewhere else in the world.   Pastor Bill: [2:56] S-sure I didn't know we had a beta I never heard of the beta variant, and then they came out with the Delta and I was like whoa what happened we went from from alpha to Delta.   Pastor Newms: [3:26] What do I use Romulan messages for which group uses the Romulan.   Pastor Bill: [3:31] Trade them the Klingons you trade them for Klingon credits.   Pastor Newms: [3:38] Good good good. Because this area that I fight in is you know every few minutes I can get.   Pastor Bill: [3:50] Well it drops every 15 minutes.   [3:58] Unless they changed that part of the algorithm or dropping scouts more often I don't know.   [4:07] Zadie on Twitch yes you are supposed to be able to hear it right now but there is enough for ya there. I'm assuming were visually live now.   Pastor Newms: [5:11] We still got three seconds.   Pastor Bill: [5:13] Really seconds are so long.   Pastor Newms: [5:16] Now we are visually live just in time for them to see you go glug glug glug glug on your addictive substances.   Pastor Bill: [5:22] Glug, glug, glug on my Dr Pepper that still doesn't taste right it doesn't taste right it tastes like there's not enough syrup in it.   Pastor Newms: [5:29] Yeah that's because you had Covid probably.   Pastor Bill: [5:32] That's from the Covid and it's the only thing that doesn't taste right though is Dr. Pepper.   Pastor Newms: [5:36] Well that would make sense because it's the thing you consume the most in the thing you love the most that is a food substance so.   Pastor Bill: [5:45] I've seen videos from people just this week more than one person talking about when they got Covid and when they got better the only thing that's still tasted right was Dr. Pepper, and I'm like why does it got to be different for me that Dr. Pepper tastes wrong and everything else taste right Zaidie what are you saying nope not yet about, Zaidies on Twitch like nope yeah.   Pastor Newms: [6:10] Yeah what is she saying nope not yet about.   Pastor Bill: [6:13] Maybe if you delay maybe she hears what you can't see.   Pastor Newms: [6:17] Yeah it might be a delay well I know there's a delay but, and plus she has to use this janky TV thing and it doesn't work real well because she doesn't use her phone and.   Pastor Bill: [6:36] Okay then.   Pastor Newms: [6:36] I'll never mind she's on her phone tonight so it's not the janky TV thing it's something else.   Pastor Bill: [6:41] Interesting I know we went live on YouTube I got the email when we went live so that should be working.   Pastor Newms: [6:52] Phoenix is probably upstairs asleep.   Pastor Bill: [7:00] So how was your week Pastor Newms. And you were alone no best friend beside you.   Pastor Newms: [7:22] So we spend too much time together. They just overall and so when you were out of town it was definitely odd and it is true you were Zaidies friend first, it was definitely odd and there were a couple days where I was just like, I'm just going to go to bed because I just wasn't in the mood to.   Pastor Bill: [7:53] I have a visitor.   Pastor Newms: [7:56] Yes hello.   Pastor Bill: [7:57] She's come to ask for cough drops while we're live.   Pastor Newms: [8:01] While we're live to the whole internet.   Pastor Bill: [8:04] Live to the whole internet on Twitter and Facebook and YouTube live with church.   Pastor Newms: [8:10] Here ya go sweetheart.   Pastor Bill: [8:14] Here take this you can't give her a cough drop through the phone give this to your mama.   Pastor Newms: [8:31] We are not sponsored but we really we really should be sponsored by Ricola because.   Pastor Bill: [8:37] Oh man I buy so much Ricola.   Pastor Newms: [8:40] The amount that Pastor Bill uses you know their sugar free ones.   Pastor Bill: [8:47] I've heard.   Pastor Newms: [8:49] I don't say that these ones don't have much sugar but because of Seraphina's, issues with sugar, her sugar allergy we were looking for ones and we happen to cross them and we were like, what and she loves them and they're just hers and she makes sure everyone knows they're just hers fructos Malabsorption.   Pastor Bill: [9:21] Huh.   Pastor Newms: [9:22] That's that's what she technically has Zaidie just posted it in the, but I can't speak English well so when we start going to the root words of and can't do it but so that was weird the fact that you were gone for the majority of the week was odd Phoenix has been in a lot of pain recently, HP Phoenix and she decided to finally get in for a particular doctor's appointment and got scheduled for her HIDA scan to which the doctor that, did the HIDA scan the HIDA scan checks to see how functioning your gallbladder is.   [10:09] But it checks that and, the doctor that ordered the scan then told her the day they got her results that she immediately had to go see a surgeon the next day when the she saw the surgeon the surgeon said well we're going to do the operation at 11, so on Friday she went in for emergency surgery meanwhile, her puppy dog ended up with a double ear infection that I had to take her to the vet for yesterday so that unit inside our family unit had a really rough week and, but they're both feeling much much better, HP Phoenix actually left the house today which was good we went over to my mother's so to have a delicious lunch of.   Pastor Bill: [11:07] Launch.   Pastor Newms: [11:08] Love roast, I love roast potatoes and carrots it's like my favorite meal and it's not like a complicated meal that's the thing, like you know you ask people what's your favorite meal well I prefer this with this this like roast potatoes and carrots in a Crock-Pot, and I put.   Pastor Bill: [11:31] I like to enjoy Tomatoes particularly be sun-dried on the hills of Tuscany and like to take those and cook those in some olive oil.   Pastor Newms: [11:40] I'm like I'm like I'd like some carrots some peeled potatoes and a cow but in some water with some spices and and that's my.   Pastor Bill: [11:54] I'm no better I'm no better chop up a potato some potato chop up some weenies and fried up in some olive oil put some salt on there mmm.   [12:15] It's my week was good you know I just got over all this sickness which unfortunately now Roxanne is trying to struggle with her. Fried we did we do.   Pastor Newms: [12:29] Weenies hot dogs he said hot dogs.   Pastor Bill: [12:33] I didn't say Wheaties as I said weenies hot dog means. Hebrew National kosher cut pieces of beef inside of collagen tubes.   [12:53] So I shouldn't have eaten before we went live it's aggravated my sinus drainage so now I'm coughing more than I was before I before I ate dinner I made a mistake.   Pastor Newms: [13:02] Yeah because you were you were pretty fine beforehand so that was that was a boo-boo.   Pastor Bill: [13:08] It aggrivated my esophagus all right oh yeah so we went on a little family vacation down to Lake Livingston in Onalaska Texas got an Airbnb, I spent four days three nights, there was a nice little fire pit we did s'mores I cooked some steaks went out on the water and some little canoe, which I mean it was exhausting and from having to row the canoes but not else kind of fun, um but it was just you know some good time to disconnect from all this technology stuff and, just spend some time with the family one-on-one before Gerg starts school on Tuesday, His first day of public school ninth grade so that's exciting so that's basically what my we close. We still chatted some on text and, so up I still played I still put on the world started yet I still played the game.   Pastor Newms: [14:28] Yes I know.   Pastor Bill: [14:31] The war will only start if certain conditions aren't met.   Pastor Newms: [14:37] Aha yeah.   Pastor Bill: [14:39] You and I both know they're not going to meet those conditions.   Pastor Newms: [14:42] Now we're going to war next week I mean that's just a thing.   Pastor Bill: [14:44] Are we going to war. Just prepare for it it's coming, I hear the drums.   Pastor Newms: [14:52] Um   Pastor Bill: [14:54] Are there jobs okay so now it's time for Getting to Know the Pastor.   Pastor Newms: [14:59] Uh-huh sure is.   Pastor Bill: [15:03] This week's card is "What was your first screen name?"   [15:17] "What was your first screen name?"   Pastor Newms: [15:19] Now okay so are we talking about, because screen names are can be construed differently are we talking about like AOL Messenger screen names are we talking about, like the three call letters you put into video games because that's all they allowed on high scores are we talking about.   Pastor Bill: [15:41] No not initials an actual name.   Pastor Newms: [15:49] Hey well days what was that good you know I'm not going to even remember because that was, that was pre Newms would have been our first AOL chat rooms was before that name so, I have no idea I don't know.   Pastor Bill: [16:22] Okay my first screen name was billiamshea82.   Pastor Newms: [16:30] You still use that email.   Pastor Bill: [16:35] No I don't not with the 82 now it's just billiamshea and I dropped the 82 when I dropped Hotmail.   Pastor Newms: [16:44] Yeah I honestly don't remember I can tell you my first, Xbox name because I actually still have my Microsoft account is under a live email address as opposed to a Microsoft account I'm actually off to dress which is, I'm not going to say it now just realized that I gave too much of.   Pastor Bill: [17:14] The mistake that you had made.   Pastor Newms: [17:15] Yeah but I know it.   Pastor Bill: [17:22] My mom still has a live email address.   Pastor Newms: [17:24] I am it was really weird like when I started doing something and was like do you have a Microsoft account and I entered my regular email and it was like oh your Microsoft account is this and I'm like, I mean technically yeah I, so I still use mine which is really weird and there's no telling. What might be on it wherever the email box is actually held out their necks.   Pastor Bill: [18:00] At this point just a lot of spam.   Pastor Newms: [18:02] I'd hate to imagine what's in there to be honest because I never have actually used it as an email, it's only a login for things so I would hate to imagine what is actually sitting out there and how much of it there is.   Pastor Bill: [18:22] Indeed.   Pastor Newms: [18:23] So yeah that was easy.   Pastor Bill: [18:25] All right cool so I guess we're warmed up and we warmed up man I know I'm warmed up it's hot in here.   Pastor Newms: [18:34] My hands actually cold but you know I guess we're whoa.   Pastor Bill: [18:44] All right so tonight we are talking about well okay so tonight's episode title is privileged, insert word in the blank, privileged Progressive her great I said privilege Im like that's the wrong word Progressive.   Pastor Newms: [19:04] I was like okay that's not what you sent me I'm not prepared to talk about privileged.   Pastor Bill: [19:08] Just like never those like I prepared for the wrong thing.   Pastor Newms: [19:14] Like I can talk about privilege fill in the blank because I call people privileged fill in the blanks all the time but, I'm going to slip at some point of the podcast if that's where we're going I'm going to say the fill in the blank word.   Pastor Bill: [19:32] Progressive.   Pastor Newms: [19:33] Yes.   Pastor Bill: [19:34] Fill in the blank and so, who's that it's so basically in the grand scheme of things when we talk about people being Progressive we're looking at social constructs, religion you know Christianity and and know on and on and on and on and on. And the premise of what I'm just going to lay it out there the premise of my message tonight that I want to get across is that, treating other people with basic decent. Wow words treating others with basic human decency is not Progressive.   Pastor Newms: [20:27] It's not.   Pastor Bill: [20:30] If someone says this is my pronoun using their pronoun is not Progressive it's respect okay, I just it goes on and on and on and on all examples of that same exact kind of thing showing someone, that they are respected and loved and recognized is not Progressive it's not some, big change from the way things always have been, the words and the way you're using them have changed, being a basic decent human being and and treating other people like they are worthy human being that is not Progressive, It should just be the normal.   Pastor Newms: [21:24] Yeah and like you know little things like we should not tell people that they should eat out of dog bowls and you know little things. When you call someone out for saying things like that and then. You're called other things in you're just like no no you should just treat humans as valid humans this shouldn't be a, it shouldn't be hard.   Pastor Bill: [22:01] And the same thing part of my message tonight of the same thing applies to Christianity and to scriptures, it is not Progressive to love your neighbor with no conditions that's literally as basic of Christianity as you can get there's nothing Progressive about that, nothing Progressive about grabbing hold of the hand of your neighbor whose black, white, Jewish, Muslim, gay, straight, trans, young, old, did I miss anybody, there's nothing Progressive about loving your neighbor as they are it is the basics of Christianity the very very basic and then it gets labeled Progressive and rejected, by the actual progressives, who have stopped doing what the Bible said this to do and created their own little denomination of what we do this.   Pastor Newms: [23:21] That is that is definitely something that that is is interesting, when you're talking about Grace when you're talking about you know the things that we normally talk about there are people who will then label, us as quote-unquote Progressive Christians and then like, you go out and you look at what the definition on the internet of a progressive Christian is and you're like no no, that is that is not what we are we are we are just you know if anything we're Old Testament, Christians were actually really old Christians we are not progressives we do not believe that Jesus is, one way we don't you know there's there's a lot that you shirt reading that Progressive stuff there's actually a couple of churches here in Murfreesboro that. When we were looking as we're looking for a new, church it's like we came across one and it was it was one of the it is it's you know oh we're coming together as all faiths and all and invented and I'm like no no no no sorry no.   Pastor Bill: [24:47] As long as all those fists and come under the banner of God sent Jesus Christ then sure let's all come together.   Pastor Newms: [24:56] They don't and so that's always an interesting thing when you look at, how words turn over time also you know there's it's such a weird Oddity, when you think of you know 20 years ago if someone said you were Progressive you were like maybe and now it's like you're Progressive no no no no no no no because it now means something, a step, you know it's a step outside of Christianity in my mind because it's stopping following Christ it's will Christ is a way to God instead of you know.   Pastor Bill: [25:50] That's not a semantics around relation that's a straight up.   Pastor Newms: [25:53] No I know that's why that's why I said it very sarcastically I mean it's just crazy when we want to take the words of Christ and blatantly just walk away from her, and, call ourselves Progressive and so it's definitely something that is a dangerous line that are that there are people that are, calling themselves post evangelicals are going towards so.   Pastor Bill: [26:29] Post Evangelical.   Pastor Newms: [26:46] High percentage is because somewhere in the church, abused power but you know that's neither here nor there there's other reasons also that it can happen but people who were raised in the church and have walked away from, the church are commonly referred to as post evangelicals and even some cities, and some counties and countries and things that's what they term it is post Evangelical, areas of the country so people that were in the Bible Belt and are no longer people that were things like that.   [27:36] But I know that's not the exact Direction you wanted to go tonight.   Pastor Bill: [27:42] I laid my cards on the table.   [27:51] So where we go from here is where we go from here where do we go from here there's something that says that.   Pastor Newms: [28:01] So I was wondering, at the beginning of every episode and then on our podcasts on the little as it goes out there's a little picture and it's got the verse for the week on it and I was wondering the purpose behind, this particular verse for this.   Pastor Bill: [28:23] Okay which was Romans chapter 12 verse 15.   [28:35] And I think this this really sums up, the whole basic human decency thing Rejoice with those who Rejoice and weep with those who weep.   [28:54] That in a nutshell for me sums up the whole treating other people correctly. So you have all this blaming and finger-pointing and treating people a certain way because they don't line up with the way you see the world ended up. Here in Romans Paul lays out this beautiful thing about. Christian ethics more or less and this thing of empathizing with each other, and being able to put yourself into their shoes, and being able to Rejoice with another human being because they're rejoicing being able to weep with another human being, because they're weeping I think about as a good example when the Supreme Court said, every state has to recognize as a license issued by another state, and the whole LGBTQ Community celebrated.   [30:16] As empathic people who are commanded to Rejoice with others when they rejoice. That's a victory we should have celebrated. And what I saw play out in churches Across the Nation was condemnation.   [30:41] Condemnation of the people celebrating, condemnation of their lifestyle choices, condemnation of so many things and while you may or may not have agreed with, gay marriage and homosexual relationships as a Christian, who is commanded to go out and reach the world with the gospel message. Make friends and make relationships with people to bring them to the Lord we should have been celebrating.   [31:22] And with those people before that that were hidden in all those roadblocks and not able to and going through these gut-wrenching life, issues things like, well I've been with this person for 20 years and they had a car wreck but we live in a state where we can't actually officiate our marriage and now they're in the ICU dying and I can't even see the person I've been with for the last 20 years, while they're on their deathbed because we're not technically related.   [31:57] And we weren't weeping with those people when they were weeping.   [32:03] So to me this verse really sums it up in a very sobering way. We should be treating other people in a manner where we can Rejoice with them when they rejoice and weep with them when they weep this is loving your neighbor. This is not Progressive this is basic love. This is basic compassion but they're doing this and they're doing that and I don't agree with this and I don't agree with that, well you sir need to get your heart right with the Lord then because it has nothing in the scripture about only show compassion to your neighbor, only with your neighbor only Rejoice with your neighbor if your neighbor looks like you thinks like you talks like you and is perfect like you that's not there.   Pastor Newms: [33:06] The Commandment is to love. Not to tolerate, through several conversations this week because of some situations, there's been a lot of conversations that I've been a part of or seen going on and, Toleration has been talked about a bunch it's like well I tolerate them and it's like, what you tolerate a human being you you like well I don't agree with them so I only have to tolerate them no you have to love them you don't have to agree with them, but you also shouldn't talk so derogatory you know you shouldn't you know there are think it's not about oh well I tolerate that person. You know I disagree with a lot of things in life and not all of them, for valid reasons because I'm a very picky individual I'm very opinionated I know this is shocking to anyone who knows me but.   [34:30] I can't just tolerate the people around me I'm commanded to love them so no I don't like, that this person has this going on I don't like that that person has that going on I don't like that this person does that doesn't mean I'm going to have, a Yell at them conversation or a disregard of their human life because of it, we're supposed to come alongside them and love them and show them Jesus in the way that we can and.   [35:16] That's what we're supposed to do like it's not, it shouldn't be too complicated but people are like well I only, tolerate up to this point you're like no no that you don't get to choose at what point you stop loving humans that's it, The Love Thy Neighbor didn't have a caveat on it technically it has a caveat as yourself but that was also talking about, loving yourself and that as isn't, caveat as it's a different as in the but anyway I'm not going to get into that doesn't actually mean as sadly because.   Pastor Bill: [36:01] Cumulative.   Pastor Newms: [36:02] Then I wouldn't have to love people because I don't like myself most days but sadly that's not what the verse means in, the original text so I don't get to use that loophole I tried I tried really hard.   Pastor Bill: [36:19] Always with the loopholes.   Pastor Newms: [36:21] Hey you know it's there important in life, I'm a good I'm A good rule follower.   [36:33] But yeah I mean that's that's the thing that really irked me this week I had some really, angry conversations throughout the week with Billiam not angry at Bill, angry and Bill just went a uh hu uh hu uh hu because of things that are going on and, it was just funny because it's like well I mean if you feel you need to say something you can but, and I'm like but I'm angry he's like well yes but you still have to be nice to the other person that you're angry with also well I don't want to be well then that's not love you're like a fine you're right all right I'll word it nicely you know but that's always something that's hard to do also is to love the people that we disagree with, yes this person is being a fill-in the blank that we were talking about at the beginning of the episode because of the bad titling, but that doesn't mean we can not show love to those people also even in the people that we know are, going in scripture people we know are using the lord's name in vain and not in the way of you know like we've talked about in the past.   [38:00] Twisting the words of the Bible and using God to control people in or, beat them down as opposed to Bringing people up and loving them we still have to show those people love and not, call them bigots and throw things at them no matter how much I want to my best friend says I'm not allowed to because I have to show them love and so that's something that, often times, people skim over you know when you're commanded love everyone sadly it does mean everyone it's sadly means.   Pastor Bill: [38:49] We're given a lot of generalizations here so let's just kind of bring bring it back around and give the exam, so we play a game it's am ultimately you know mother person game Sue's interactions with other human beings a lot of interactions, and there are there's this long-held Grudge between these two individuals is female it plays the game and this male plays game and she is the one to, Tribble a lot you know there are people like that that they won't let something go and they'll just keep bringing it back up and so she's just doing her thing and never really crossing the line, too much some of the verbiage she's used she's used some some wording that I wouldn't have agreed with in the past, but nothing like overly oh my gosh you you need to be censured for saying that so she's pushing this guy and he tells her to go, what did you say eat from a dog dish or whatever was he told her.   Pastor Newms: [39:55] From a dog dish because you are a blank.   Pastor Bill: [39:59] So another member of her Alliance came into the chat to defend her, and I don't really remember how it came up that he was gay but it came up that he was a gay man the one that's defending the female and the other person involved, then said you need to get out more told him it was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve proceeded to tell him that Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed, for the way he lives his life.   Pastor Newms: [40:34] By the flood.   Pastor Bill: [40:35] And then proceeded to tell him that God sent a flood, to destroy the whole world because of his kind and this gentleman keeping his cool said. Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed by fire.   Pastor Newms: [40:57] And then berated him for not knowing his Bible which was very humorous to read and just sad that it was even said.   Pastor Bill: [41:10] So so so I stepped into the situation and I publicly denounced, belittling women which this guy has done I publicly denounced casually using homophobia as a weapon, and dehumanizing other, and I told the their Alliance that he needed to be removed from the head of their Alliance because he has engaged in these acts repeatedly.   Pastor Newms: [41:47] This is not the first time sadly there is lots of documentation that it's happened on multiple occasions.   Pastor Bill: [41:56] We came to the defense of the gentleman who identified himself as a gay man and the girl who was told go away from a dog dish because. We have to stand up for those that are being disenfranchised that's basic. Did you see it and when someone is using the Bible to don't make that face on camera.   Pastor Newms: [42:27] My my OBS something is gone sideways and I don't know what I've broken.   Pastor Bill: [42:38] Do we still have audio going out.   Pastor Newms: [42:40] I don't think I broke anything about that.   Pastor Bill: [42:48] Possible technical difficulty.   Pastor Newms: [42:52] Can everyone still see us and someone say that they can see us and I don't know where this, is supposed to be okay they can hear and see us so obviously whatever I broke is not it is just a thing inside my tool not anything to actually cause issues so I don't know what I did, okay so continue.   Pastor Bill: [43:14] Stream still says we're we're live so.   Pastor Newms: [43:20] I just don't know where this little thing is supposed to go.   Pastor Bill: [43:24] So we took the, we stood up for the person who's being disenfranchised because you should always send up for, the person is being disenfranchised the person who's being attacked the person who you know and and the person you stepped Over The Line, especially using the Bible to beat someone over the head, so   Pastor Newms: [43:56] Especially using the Bible inaccurately.   Pastor Bill: [43:59] And then using it inaccurately.   Pastor Newms: [44:02] That's that's that's the thing that pushed one of the things that pushed me over the edge was not. I take great offense when when people use Christianity as the reason, for being a bully if you're just kind of a jerk, cool be a jerk like that if that's who you are do you whatever I don't care, but don't use your Christianity as the basis for why you are now treating someone and going out of your way to treat someone differently, because you now know they believe something different than you that, is where I start to have a big issue with it and the other aspect that makes this not worse necessarily but this, it was cuz they're not now, the fourth largest Alliance in the game so it's not even just like oh it's these three dudes over here being stupid and we can just ignore them and yes they're wrong.   Pastor Bill: [45:19] It's a guy leading an alliance of 71 people.   Pastor Newms: [45:21] Yeah.   Pastor Bill: [45:23] Did have 71 people they ridden some issues.   Pastor Newms: [45:28] There's been lots of benefits been fun watching some of the drama one of his people that doesn't agree with him decided to kick all of their members and they've only gotten about half of them back but, to me I really take a lot of offense to when people then, defend someone doing that I just it's it's wrong with me because it's just like why are you using things to.   Pastor Bill: [46:00] There's an appropriate time there's an appropriate time to defend someone who is the offender and it's after you've addressed the situation, right pull him out of the Admiral or position and then when he's no longer in power, and he's removed from the situation then we can deal with the hurt that he's going through.   [46:32] To defend him while he still in a position to continue hurting others, is inappropriate this is this is this whole this whole thing about and the church is horrible about it the Big C horrible about it when someone comes up and says that person did this to me, the first response in most churches has been oh no brother so-and-so would never do that we can't believe that instead of oh my gosh I'm so sorry that you were hurt, let's pull you aside and you tell us what happened we'll go pull him aside, if we can corroborate then we can move forward with a punishment, instead of believing the person and giving the accused the benefit of the doubt.   [47:35] We just ignore the person who was hurt and lift up the person who was accused, but that's not how that should work we have to believe the accuser even if the person being accused is innocent while still giving the benefit of the doubt to the person accused, and allow the person that was hurt to give the evidence so that we can take action.   [48:05] Unfortunately if you are hurt and you have an accusation but you don't have evidence then there's little to nothing that an Administration can do they can believe you all day, without evidence there's little to nothing that an administrative body can do to fix the situation.   Pastor Newms: [48:29] And and one of the one of the issues, there are times where overtime the reverse we find out is true, there was recently a very very publicized if your, into the internet much where there was an actress who went, and said my husband is abusing me and.   Pastor Bill: [49:01] Mmm.   Pastor Newms: [49:02] We as a community we as people who get on the internet we're like can't believe he would do that wow that guy seems really good he must be a jerk and, you know we removed it, couple months down the road come to find out all the police reports, were dismissed because they were lies and all the things that she did, to do it including the makeup artist that put the makeup on her to show the bruising and all of that all came out and we're like no this was a ruse just to get money and she got it, and then she didn't use it how she said she was going to so she lied again to the public and that and then now the internet's like, never mind he's great you suck and, whole scores of people just straight didn't go watch certain movies.   [50:19] Got to love children, I still haven't seen that movie because I boycotted it and never went back to watch it because, I don't want to at this point and it's just like all right and you know and, and he's like no here's all the things but he lost movie deals you know tons of stuff because of it and he now has to rebuild his life when come to find out, she was the abuser the whole time, he's in counseling for it and so it's kind of like oh hmm so.   Pastor Bill: [51:15] Hmm.   Pastor Newms: [51:18] You know there are times where the reverse is true, and we as a culture or administration of groups and things like that have to, take both set him aside your both innocent till proven guilty you know we believe you we believe you, where's the you know and then.   Pastor Bill: [51:38] And sometimes it really is a fact of the abuser or made an honest mistake.   Pastor Newms: [51:48] Sometimes not always.   Pastor Bill: [51:48] Not always not always sometimes that's why there's that thing of you know we believe both of you let's go over what happened.   Pastor Newms: [52:01] And when we say abuser.   Pastor Bill: [52:03] Lots of people well if you're accused of abuse you know the the the person that got hurt is the one that has the right of saying that was abuse.   Pastor Newms: [52:16] And that and it can be more than just one type so many people are like oh well, you know well there is verbal abuse and that can cause permanent damage and a lot of people for years and years and years will verbal abuse isn't real abuse mental illness.   Pastor Bill: [52:34] No it definitely is.   Pastor Newms: [52:35] You know and you know there's people who have permanent scarring from abuse I mean I know, I have friends that if you talk too loud you know that person's like I'm sorry I'm sorry you're like what, huh no you're just you're just over there like you're across the restaurant I wasn't trying to yell at you like, why are you flinching in the corner wait why are you finishing in the corner who's done something to make you feel you know and that's when the Jonathan side of me stops, forgetting to love the whole group and that's besides the point that's another discussion that's when my Vengeance comes out though, it's definitely something that. It sucks but we have to try to do better and continue to try to do better as a culture and has the capital c church and as individuals in, protecting the disenfranchised and the people that need when they ask don't don't swoop in and, try to protect as the I'm the white man protecting you make sure that your please don't put on that Cape because that's a whole nother issue that we won't talk about.   Pastor Bill: [54:05] No delusions of being the white savior.   Pastor Newms: [54:08] Yeah make sure you're not doing.   Pastor Bill: [54:09] My actions this week in game were accurate and appropriate because I'm a part of this community I'm an admiral in this community I've been an admiral in another Alliance in this community, and you know it was brought to my attention.   Pastor Newms: [54:26] Yeah you didn't do it you didn't do it because you felt like it, the group of the particular person and a different group said hey this happened we're publicly denouncing these people and then it was like wait why.   Pastor Bill: [54:45] I went to them and I said.   Pastor Newms: [54:47] Here's all the reasons why.   Pastor Bill: [54:47] Do you have screenshots of what was said and I gathered screenshots I grabbed the gathered evidence so that I could take action.   Pastor Newms: [54:55] And then it's like okay they've said this and there are smaller group and they aren't as vocal so I can be super loud.   Pastor Bill: [55:07] But I think it's I think it's important for a lot of people to hear that asking for evidence is not saying you don't believe someone, asking for evidence is asked is saying I believe you give me fire power, to move on your behalf because that's what the evidence is, so with your if your heart is your you know abuse if you're or anything, expect to be asked for evidence and don't be offended that you're being asked to give evidence because evidence is Firepower they can use on your behalf poor Finnick he's in the shower.   Pastor Newms: [55:55] Okay I'm like who's pinching my.   Pastor Bill: [55:56] And he is not happy about it.   Pastor Newms: [56:07] Okay no one's pinching him okay that's just making sure.   Pastor Bill: [56:12] Probably not.   [56:28] Dad replace little dude with a new little dude because little dude once a little gnome.   Pastor Newms: [56:32] You brought in a new little tube for me have a little dude because no one in my.   Pastor Bill: [56:38] I was like I was like.   Pastor Newms: [56:39] Can have little dudes we all have little girl.   Pastor Bill: [56:41] I was like I was like Greg you can die now I have a replacement, he was like what I'm just playing I'm just playing but seriously.   Pastor Newms: [56:53] That's me that's not showing love.   Pastor Bill: [56:55] All right no it's well it kind of is when you know you're driving your teenager considering that whole ribbing means friendship face anyway.   Pastor Newms: [57:06] Still don't I still don't understand some of the language he uses.   Pastor Bill: [57:11] His his eaten speak yeah it's weird alright well that's all I have for tonight do you have anything else you want to add.   Pastor Newms: [57:30] Please don't make me so angry that I yell at Bill and then yell at you in a game like it's just please don't do that to me my heart can't take it I'm old now.   Pastor Bill: [57:45] 30 second. 30 second buffer has been 30 seconds yet course not that's not time works 30 second buffer 30 second buffer 30 second buffer I love you guys have a great week.   Pastor Newms: [58:01] The think the thing that moved is the timer thing that I can see what okay there it is.   Pastor Bill: [58:07] Okay it's definitely been 33 seconds so you say your thing you say stay safe you say your thing and until next time.   Pastor Newms: [58:14] Stay safe stay safe and and we love you. I'm a hit the button now.

Crohn's Veteran Podcast Founder Jordan McConnell shares his personal journey with Bile Acid Malabsorption (BAM). BAM occurs when your body produces either too much bile acid or doesn't utilize it correctly. In Jordan's case, his ileum was surgically removed due to Crohn's symptoms, eliminating his body's ability to permanently process bile acid correctly and most fats. For more information about Bile Acid Malabsorption check this article: https://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/what-is-bile-acid-malabsorption. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let’s get started!    James: Hey Doc. Hope all is wellI was wondering how to ask a question for the podcast?I really would like to know the realistic aftermath of Covid-19 — I keep reading and researching post Covid syndrome and I can’t shake a lot of the crazy things I am seeing and hearing — my 6 year hold had Covid as we speak — he is generally healthy with no conditions and is asymptomatic — however he is on a highly inflammable diet and I’m not sure he get gets any real vitamins or minerals on a consistent basisThis is very concerning for me and should be for a lot of people. The question is, is this more fear mongering by the media and our govt to ensure our reliance on a vaccine? Or is this really legit research? It’s stating that it can effect even “healthy” individuals who never actually show symptoms of the viru.Doc, your the only one I trust and I’d like your feedback on this! Thanks for all you do. Bettina: Hi Stephen Cabral. Thank you so much for your work, really appreciate it.I have a friend (38 years old) who suffers from what I believe in English is called "gallbladder acid bile malabsorption or gallbladder malabsorption". The doctors say that there isn't much to do expect some medicine but so far my friend isn't taking anything because she is concerned with sideeffects. What would you recommend that I suggest her to look at in order to hopefully help her. She cannot afford your products unfortunately due to the taxes that DK puts on, but I hope you can suggest something that she can find here in Europe which will help her.Thank you so much for your time and your help. Shiela: I have a re-occurring knee injury on one side that flares up with physical activity such as jumping, dancing, hiking, and squatting. I've had an MRI and there's nothing structurally wrong with it, just seems to be inflammation causing pain. What do you recommend to treat it naturally? See all the Healthcast at https://www.biobalancehealth.com/healthcast-blog/ The entire system from your mouth to the end of the alimentary canal. Food that we eat is a fuel. We ingest it in the mouth and the GI system breaks it down into consumable energy units called BTU's that are what our food becomes at the cellular level. This level provides our cells with the energy they need to do their job. We discuss the process from the beginning to the end. The end is where the waste product is eliminated when we go to the bathroom. One important ingredient in the process is relative to the bacteria in your gut biome. If you have enough bacteria, with enough variety of bacteria, you are better able to digest your food intake and convert it into the energy your cells need. There is even a process available to doctors if you are determined not to have the proper kind and amount, of bacteria in your gut biome. This process is called a fecal transplant. The feces from some other person who has the bacteria you need to make is transplanted into your system so that those bacteria will grow and work within your system. That way, you are able to process and digest your food intake. A less serious option would be to take probiotics which can help you produce the proper bacteria in your gut. The Gastrointestinal System: The GI system has a wide variety of changes throughout life. With aging, there is a decline in the actual form of the intestines. This causes a decline in the absorption of some nutrients, such as fatty acids and cholesterol. We want to consider the following changes in the GI system as aging happens: Decreased ability of the intestinal walls to hold and absorb nutrients makes older people highly sensitive to minor body insults; Drugs appreciably affect taste sensation and thereby appetite Malabsorption can be caused by low levels of gastric acids, possibly compounded by gastric hypochlorhydria with small bowel bacterial over-growth; Lowered gastrointestinal movement including incontinence may occur. GI changers in mucosal immune response also occur. Our intestines do a lot more for us than we actually give it credit for.  The intestines process our food and convert it into blood sugar to feed our cells.  The intestines keep toxins out of the blood and filter the food we eat.  The GI tract holds all the good bacteria that is necessary for our immune system to function and to process our food.  Without bacteria in the gut we would not be “fed” at all! When the GI system ages, we stop absorbing B12 from the stomach and our acid level and enzymes from the pancreas and liver decreases so we can't break down meat and fat, which means we are malnourished. Even drugs and vitamins care impossible to absorb when the gut ages. For instance, without the stomach acid and enzymes you can't break meat and proteins into amino acids to make new muscle.  Our GI system is sustained down- stream from our sex hormones but are still made healthy by a combination of fresh balanced diet, probiotics, and sex hormones. Taking care of our GI system becomes more of a challenge as we age. Because of the resistance that aging effects cause in the GI system, we have to find different ways that our gut and bodies can absorb the proper values of nutrients for good health. As we age, we often stop absorbing various nutrients like B12, a vitamin. Also, out taste sensations change, we get to a point that we can only taste sweets. Fortunately, we now have systems of consumables that allow us to ingest proper balances of the nutrients we need without eating the foods that we used to eat in order to obtain them. There are drinks (usually chocolate flavored or vanilla) that contain all the recommended nutrients for a day's consumption. We can further give sublingual tablets hat will put those nutrients into our system without having to eat those foods, because our bodies lose the ability to absorb them through the GI system. As we age, it becomes more important to understand these changes in our GI system and make proper adaptations so our bodies will have enough energy and have the ability to keep us healthy as we age.

Can PEMT genetics cause fat malabsorption, mineral deficiencies, and oxalate problems?| Masterjohn Q&A Files #94

Mastering Nutrition

Question: Can PEMT genetics cause fat malabsorption, mineral deficiencies, and oxalate problems? First of all, saponification of minerals, the point here is that if you have malabsorption of fat, the fatty acids are going to bind to any positively charged minerals in your diet. This has been particularly well studied in preterm infants where the poor absorption of fatty acids causes the fatty acids to bind to the calcium that have lower bioavailability. Yeah. If you surpass your ability to absorb the fat, the fatty acids can bind minerals and induce mineral deficiencies. I agree with this. PEMT polymorphism is a marker of poor synthesis of phosphatidylcholine. That will impair export of fat from the liver. Low phosphatidylcholine synthesis due to PEMT. I was thinking of it as a direct marker. It's not a direct marker, but it could theoretically impact. This is probably especially true if you have a low phosphatidylcholine intake. Probably eating phosphatidylcholine protects against this. But yeah, low phosphatidylcholine levels in the liver partly as an interaction between low activity in the PEMT enzyme and low intake of phosphatidylcholine from food could cause bile acid issues, which could in turn cause fat malabsorption. If you have fat malabsorption and you have enough digestion of the fat to release the free fatty acids from triglycerides, but you don't have enough absorption of those fatty acids, the fatty acids will bind calcium. They won't bind oxalate, they can't. Binding the calcium will lower the calcium absorption, and it will also prevent the calcium from binding oxalate. Calcium binding oxalate is what prevents oxalate absorption, so yes, I would think that would increase oxalate absorption. Could an elevated BUN indicate protein malabsorption and low stomach acid? | Masterjohn Q&A Files #93

Mastering Nutrition

Question: Could an elevated BUN indicate protein malabsorption and low stomach acid? I get the Heidelberg test. That's the only accurate way to assess stomach acid. If you want to do something else, it would be better to use the kitchen techniques, like take half a teaspoon of baking soda and see how long you take to burp, or take HCl with your meal and keep adding capsules and see how many capsules you can take without reflux. That's probably both more accurate than using BUN. I find it almost certainly the case that a slightly high BUN would never be a useful marker of low stomach acid and would never be a good marker of poor protein digestion. If you want to know if you have poor protein digestion, measure the protein in your stool. Get a GI stool test that looks at what you're not absorbing. That's how you test that. The reason that this sounds nuts to me is maybe you are allowing the protein to ferment in your gut and generate urea from the microbes that you're absorbing, like maybe. But where does most of the urea come from that's in your blood? It comes from the urea cycle, which is how you get rid of ammonia. How do you get ammonia in your body that goes into the urea cycle? You digest protein into amino acids, you absorb the amino acids, and then you break them down so that you can either burn them for energy or turn them into glucose or turn them into certain neurotransmitters or whatever, and then you lose ammonia that you put into the urea cycle. Why wouldn't the urea be a marker of having good digestion? I'm not even sure that we could say it could be an equally useful test of good digestion and bad digestion of protein. I don't know if it's as good a marker of bad digestion of protein as it is of good digestion of protein. But even if it were just as good a marker of bad digestion of protein as it is of good digestion of protein, something that's an equally good marker of two opposites is not a good marker of anything. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let’s get started! Somah: Hi Doctor Cabral, Hope you are well. Your podcasts’ have changed my life. They are so informative. I’ve recommended you and your supplements to anyone who will listen. I take your CBD oil, Vitamin D, Vitamin C and some other things you recommend. I’m a 39 years old female, eat well, exercise often but last year I had about 7 bouts of tonsillitis. The doctors recommended that I get them removed but I’m a bit skeptical. I’ve been on Antibiotics all of last year and even steroids. There has to be another way. Please help. I’m so close to just getting them removed. I have an infection right now. Any information you can offer will be appreciated. Thank you so so much!! Anonymous: Hello Dr. Cabral and Team, Just received diagnosis on Friday (2-16) of esophageal cancer. It was a complete shock, I am a 56 year old white male, 6'1", was 235 lbs in October and now 210 as of this morning. Unfortunately thought that my inability to swallow was a temporary issue. Have had Barium swallow, endoscopy (biopsy) and CT scan. Results from latter should be back today or tomorrow. Weight loss has accelerated to about 1 lb./day. Started on Ensure yesterday. Tough getting food down. Have been eating cream of wheat with bone broth, Athletic Greens with nut milk, soups, nuts, avocados, etc. Had just started listening to your podcast in January and had ordered your 7 day detox just a few weeks ago. Obviously won't be finishing that off. In process of setting up my team to fight this cancer. Hoping you can help out or point me in the right direction.  Shannon: Hi Dr. Cabral. My question is regarding where to start in terms of what test to purchase to get a better idea of my personal health status. I'm 33 YO, 5'4", 62.7kg. My weight has not changed in the past 7 years, but my body composition has. I stay very active and eat clean organic foods, limit on the dairy and grains. I recently replaced my black morning coffee with ACV, lemon and sea salt and incorporated a fruit/veggie smoothie. Noticed an instant change; less bloating, no heart palpitations or anxiety. I was thinking of starting with the Organic Acids test, but not too sure. I would also like to complete your 7-day detox, but trying to conceive. What would you recommend? Very grateful for your time, thank you. Shannon Judy: I read in one of your FAQs that we should not eat the skins of potatoes. Does that include all varieties of sweet potatoes? Why should the skins be avoided?  Jess: Hi Stephen, Thank you for your incredible podcast! i have a few questions - sorry in advance for the long post what can i do to help acne during pregnancy? i usually do have some skin problems however in the few weeks it has been worse than usual. i just found out i am pregnant (about 6 weeks) so think thats the reason it has gotten so much worse. i am also still breast feeding my toddler (once or twice a day) - so i know a detox is out of the question. what are some other things i can do to help this? Also what would you suggest to use instead of toddler milk/formula when trying to wean? my little one is 19 months old and still had some breastmilk, apart from that he also has a grass fed toddler formula/milk. would you suggest an alternative milk like coconut milk? Thank you so much Jess  Cristina: Hi Stephen, I am 36 years old woman. Two years ago I developed an autoimmune condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa. So last year I decided to change my foods habits. I did an intolerance food test and with the diet I am in remission. My diet is gluten free, dairy free, nightshades free. I eat veggies, meats, fish, fruits and nuts. Two months ago I developed Papulostear Rosacea in one of my cheeks. At this moment I don’t understand what’s going on. I have been on a healthy style since January 2017. What’s wrong with me?  Bill: I have a heavy, constant post-nasal drip. I have listened to Stephen's podcasts and it seems that the appropriate test for me to order is the IGG test. Is that what you would recommend in order to diagnose my problem?  Ann: Hi Dr. Cabral, Thank you for addressing my question about fructose malabsorption. About three years ago I began to experience feelings of nausea, gas and diarrhea. I went to see a gastroenterologist and he completed several invasive tests as well as a test for h pylori and SIBO. He told me that I had IBS and to take Prilosec, which I never did. A couple months went by and the diarrhea got really bad. I went back to see the same doctor and told him that something was wrong. He said, “Well I guess we can run a breath test for lactose and fructose”. The test result showed that I have fructose malabsorption. The doctor told me that there is no cure and that I should avoid eating food with fructose in it. Little did I know that a lot of food has this in it with varying amounts. I am fine with not eating sugar, honey, wheat and most fruits but I love all vegetables. I don’t feel as though I am getting a balanced diet because some veggies I can’t eat. Everyday I take a multi vitamin, fish oil, and D3 during winter. Will I ever be able to eat all my favorite veggies and fruits again? Thank you for speaking about a common sense approach to medicine. I have referred many people to your website. Ann James: My wife is having problem with heartburn and bloating. She is starting the detox this Monday. What else should she do to treat this condition? An estimated 50% of Americans are on some type of psychotropic drug. Half of the US population! What is causing such widespread prevalence of mental health disorders? Prescription anti-depressants and sedatives don’t solve the underlying problem…  So how do we get to the bottom of this?  The Gluten Free RN contends that there may be a connection between mental health and undiagnosed celiac disease. Today she explains how several disorders (anxiety, depression and paranoia, among others) have been linked to gluten, discussing how a leaky blood-brain barrier can lead to hypoxia, an inflammation of the brain. Nadine walks us through the best research in mental health disorders and gluten sensitivity, sharing two landmark studies that emphasize the gut/brain connection and characterize celiac disease as primarily a neurological disorder. Nadine offers her insight around working with schizophrenic patients and the increasing number of children suffering from anxiety. Listen in to understand how gluten impacts your mental health, and learn how to eliminate brain fog, get off prescription meds, and enjoy a higher quality of life! What’s Discussed:  The connection between gluten and hypoxia Leaky blood-brain barrier leads to inflammation of brain, decreased oxygen flow The shocking statistics around Americans and psychotropic drugs Estimated 50% of US population on psychotropic medication The potential relationship between mental health disorders and undiagnosed celiac disease High instance of depression, anxiety, fatigue and paranoia May have difficulty sleeping, headaches or seizure disorder Nearly all experience brain fog The health consequences of undiagnosed celiac disease Malabsorption of nutrients Damaged immune system Neurological symptoms Hormonal imbalance Neurotransmitter disruption The findings of the landmark Cooke study in 1966 Ten of 16 patients with celiac disease had severe progressive neuropathy All 16 had severe malabsorption The conclusion of an editorial published in Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry Celiac disease, NCGS is primarily neurological How a gluten-free diet can resolve gastrointestinal and psychiatric symptoms Celiac disease can manifest as depression, anxiety or psychosis Research published in International Journal of Celiac Disease demonstrates gut/brain connection Nadine’s experience with schizophrenia patients Majority are gene positive for HLA-DQ2, HLA-DQ8 The increasing number of children diagnosed with anxiety disorder May be caused by undiagnosed sensitivity to gluten The concept of food as medicine Body may read gluten as toxic, must remove from diet Resources: ‘Gluten Sensitivity as a Neurological Illness’ in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry ‘Psychiatric Complications of Celiac Disease’ in the International Journal of Celiac Disease ‘Genetic Hypothesis of Idiopathic Schizophrenia: Its Exorphin Connection’ in Schizophrenia Bulletin ‘Markers of Gluten Sensitivity and Celiac Disease in Bipolar Disorder’ in Bipolar Disorders ‘Neurologic and Psychiatric Manifestations of Celiac Disease and Gluten Sensitivity’ in Psychiatric Quarterly ‘Neuropsychiatric Symptoms and Celiac Disease’ in Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment Connect with Nadine: Instagram Facebook Contact via Email ‘Your Skin on Gluten’ on YouTube Melodies of the Danube Gluten-Free Cruise with Nadine Books by Nadine: Dough Nation: A Nurse's Memoir of Celiac Disease from Missed Diagnosis to Food and Health Activism

The Staying Young Show     Show Title: “Auto-Immune Deficiencies Explained” Co-Hosts: Judy Gaman, Walter Gaman, Mark Anderson Guest: None Segment 1 Today's show is all about auto-immune disease. Perhaps these are the most misunderstood diseases out there. When someone in your family, a friend or co-worker is stricken with an auto-immune disease, it can be hard to understand. That's why we've decided to cover some of the most common ones. This hour, our focus will be on rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, celiac disease, Sjögren's syndrome, and Multiple sclerosis (MS) Define auto-immune disease - A disease in which the body's immune system attacks healthy cells Explain what separates an auto-immune disease from other diseases? Harder to diagnose? More long term? Etc? Rheumatoid arthritis discussion 200,000 cases diagnosed a year The body's immune system attacks its own tissue, especially in the joints. Severe cases can include attack of the internal organs. Causes painful swelling of the joint lining. Over long periods of time, can cause bone erosion and joint deformity. (Crooked fingers, hands, feet) No cure for rheumatoid arthritis. Physiotherapy and medication can help slow progression. Managed with called anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDS) Discuss classic presentation / labs ordered/ x-rays/ case studies DOC SHOCK the Institute for Basic Science (IBS), invented a hydrogel to fight rheumatoid arthritis. This jelly-like material could be used to absorb extra fluids in swelling joints and release drugs. Immune cells at the inflamed joints are the main source of nitric oxide accumulation. While some nitric oxide is good, too much actually is what causes the damage. This gel will help reduce fluid and nitric oxide levels. Perhaps the closest thing to a cure so far, since it deals with the problem and not just managing the symptoms. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/10/171011091727.htm TAKE THE SURVEY!!!! Symptoms include fatigue, joint pain, rash, and fever. Cyclical with bouts of pain and remission. No cure. Current treatments focus on improving quality of life and reducing/controlling symptoms. T People with Lupus stay out of the sun and always wear sun screen SPF 30 or greater Anti-inflammatory diet Disease management includes medications, such as anti-inflammatories and steroids. Probiotics important as with any auto-immune disease Case studies, labs, etc Sjögren's syndrome The body's immune system attacks its own healthy cells that produce saliva and tears. Segment 3 The whole show has been about auto-immune disease. While we've already covered rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and Sjögren's syndrome, I want to focus on celiac disease – something we are way too familiar with. Celiac Disease The immune response to eating gluten creates inflammation ultimately damaging the small intestine's lining. This inflammatory process can cause other medical complications. Malabsorption of nutrients. Symptom include diarrhea, bloating, gas, fatigue, low blood count (anemia), and osteoporosis. Some people may have no GI symptoms, but have an inflammatory process that goes undiagnosed. Strict gluten-free diet that can help manage symptoms Affects all ages People with celiac disease are at-risk for serious health consequences, like other autoimmune diseases, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, and even certain cancers. An estimated 1 in 133 Americans, or about 1% of the population 83% of Americans who have celiac disease are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed with other conditions. 6-10 years is the average time a person waits to be correctly diagnosed   SHOUT OUT TO MILITARY Judy tease DD – grab a pen! 844-well100. According to the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center, 10% of MS patients also suffer from celiac disease. Studies conducted in Italy and Spain uncovered a significant increased prevalence of celiac disease in first-degree relatives of MS patients, 18% and 32% respectively. Additional research has identified situations in which celiac disease mimicked other neurological disorders such as MS and ALS.  With evidence like that, it is definitely worth it to further explore the relationship between MS and celiac disease. Today, the Gluten Free RN investigates whether MS and celiac disease are similar, related, or perhaps the same thing, as she shares case studies from the literature and her own experience. Nadine discusses the story of Dr. Terry Wahls, explaining how she was able to resolve her symptoms of MS with a variation of a Paleo diet. She outlines the analogous symptoms of MS and celiac cerebellar ataxia, the neurological damage caused by gluten, and how malabsorption of nutrients caused by intestinal damage can extend to medication. Listen and learn how Nadine and others have resolved symptoms of MS and other neurological disorders on a gluten-free diet! What’s Discussed:  Nadine’s MS scare Bouts with falling, dragging feet Numbness, tingling (neuropathy) Symptoms disappeared after adopting gluten-free diet Takes two to three years to resolve neurological symptoms Dr. Terry Wahls’ story Diagnosed with MS, confined to wheelchair Continued to research condition Adopted version of Paleo diet Now walks without cane, rides bike again Conducts Today’s podcast is a conversation I had with a wonderful fount of knowledge, Beverly Meyer. Beverly has been a client of natural health therapies since 1972. After a successful but exhausting career in business (with interviews in Glamour, Venture, Entrepreneur and Inc.), she devoted herself full-time to the study and practice of health therapies. She’s been helping clients with a wide variety of health problems ever since. On today’s show we’re chatting about the very undervalued vitamin - Vitamin K, and the role its lack plays in all kinds of physical conditions from facial and mouth bone abnormalities to fertility and pregnancy. No matter what you’ve heard about Vitamin K in the past, you’re sure to hear something you didn’t know on this podcast episode. Beverly’s story of the discovery of Vitamin K’s importance in the human diet. Around the age of 61 Beverly discovered that her narrow palate was at the root of issues she was experiencing - anxiety, heart issues, etc. The shape of her jaw (V-shaped instead of U-shaped) was pushing back on her skull causing undue pressure on her brain. Wearing a particular kind of mouth guard for a while corrected the problem but she wasn’t satisfied. She began questioning why the last few generations of people have had more narrow palates than those in the past. What she discovered was that our diets in the last decade have been deficient in Vitamin K2 in particular, an essential vitamin in the development of bones and facial structures. The is a very intriguing conversation that will uncover the importance of Vitamin K and explain why everyone needs to be on some kind of supplementation to provide Vitamin K to their diet. What is Vitamin K? Vitamin K is one of the fat-soluble vitamins… and the way these fat-soluble vitamins work is that they all move and work together. If any of them is missing the function of the others are compromised. Vitamin K is the most neglected and misunderstood of the bunch. It’s lack is now being traced to health problems of all kinds. It’s a vitamin most people in the western world don’t get much of in their regular diet. What should you do in light of this information? Today’s guest, Beverly Meyer, is an expert on Vitamin K and shares a great deal of actionable information on this episode, so set aside some time to hear what she’s got to say, and what she recommends for the average person to do about their lack of Vitamin K. The main function of Vitamin K2: It’s all about Calcium. Beverly Meyer’s way of understanding what Vitamin K does in the diet is a clever, 3-word sentence she’s come up with, and all of the words begin with the letter “K,” (Isn’t that Klever?) Here it is: K Karries Kalcium (K carries calcium). Vitamin K is the delivery truck that picks up calcium and delivers it to the proper address. When you get deficient in K, the places in your body that need calcium don’t get it. So what happens to the calcium? It could float around aimlessly in your bloodstream causing plaque in your arteries. It could turn into plaque on your teeth. It could contribute to gallstones or kidney stones. Find out more about why K is so important in your diet by listening to this episode. The importance of supplementing with Vitamin K every day. There are foods you can add to or increase in your diet that will give you additional Vitamin K2. Animal organs, pastured eggs, blue cheese, and many others are on the list of the best foods to include. But even then you won’t likely get enough to prevent the abnormalities that come from a diet deficient in Vitamin K. That’s why Beverly Meyer, today’s guest, recommends that everyone from age 3 through all stages of adulthood, use Vitamin K supplements. In today’s conversation Beverly recommends a couple of different brands of Vitamin K supplements that are natural and safe and shares more foods you can eat to help make up for any Vitamin K deficiency. In this episode I discuss the rampant, undiagnosed, malnutrition that permeates our society and some of the common ailments that people perceive as “normal” but that are actually red flags for poor digestion, poor diet, and malnutrition. These symptoms are usually the result of years, decades even, of malnutrition- the body’s stores of certain nutrients exhausted, it can no longer function optimally and begins to fail. Some of the red flags: •    Adrenal exhaustion and insufficiency •    Adult acne •    Allergies to foods •    Anemia, pernicious •    Appetite, excessive •    Asthma •    Atherosclerosis •    Autoimmune diseases •    B12 Deficiency •    B6 Deficiency •    Bacterial Dysbiosis •    Broken capillaries •    Calcium deficiency leading to insomnia, cramps, nervousness •    Chronic infections •    Chronic weakness •    Conjunctivitis •    Constipation (with liver/gallbladder involvement) •    Delayed gastric emptying (food feels like it’s just sitting there in your stomach for hours) •    Diabetes •    Diarrhea (with inflammatory bowel disease) or chronic diarrhea •    Dizziness •    Drowsiness after meals •    Dysbiosis (bowel flora is out of balance) •    Eczema, psoriasis or the history of eczema •    Emaciation (a protein deficiency) •    Environmental Chemical Sensitivities •    Feeling too full •    Flatulence in general •    Food cravings for sour foods •    Hair dry and brittle (nails too) •    Hair falling out •    Halitosis •    Heartburn/GERD/Acid reflux •    Immunity decreased •    Intestinal damage •    Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) •    Leaky gut •    Loss of taste for meats •    Malabsorption/maldigestion •    Meal related bloating or burping •    Mucoid Colitis •    Nails, thin/weak or dry and brittle •    Obesity •    Offensive smelling stool •    Pallor •    Pimples turning into boils (can also indicate low exocrine pancreas function) •    Poor memory •    Poor muscle tone •    Rheumatoid Arthritis •    Swollen tongue •    Thyroid problems •    Ulcer like pains •    Vision disturbances •    Vitamins B3 (Niacin) deficiency—also called Pellagra •    White spots on nails •    Yeast/Candida   Digestion (food selection and diet is a whole different but related topic that we aren’t covering in this episode) starts in the mouth. In the mouth: ·         Chewing the food to liquification allows the sensors in your mouth to send signals to the brain telling it what types of nutrients you have consumed and how much. The brain uses this information to tell your stomach and intestine, pancreas, gallbladder, and so on, what enzymes to secrete and how much to secrete to prepare the food for absorption. ·         Insufficient chewing short circuits this brain pathway- leading to insufficient secretions of stomach acid and enzymes. ·         Insufficient chewing also leads us to drink liquids (particularly cold liquids) with the meal thereby diluting the action of acid and enzymes on food. ·         Cold foods and liquids must be warmed by the body (stomach) before they can pass to the intestine- this leads to fermentation of the foods creating organic gasses that burn the valve at the top of the stomach and if it happens often enough, weakens the valve and burns the esophageal lining (GERD). ·         Minerals need a very low pH (strong acidic environment) to properly break down so that they can be absorbed and used by the body. Insufficient levels of stomach acid can lead to minerals being absorbed into the blood stream but not being sufficiently activated, they remain in the bloodstream and are eventually excreted rather than being incorporated into the bones, teeth, and tissues. ·         Sufficient stomach acid kills bacteria, viruses, yeasts, molds, candida, and parasites before they get far. Insufficient stomach acid allows them to live and gives them access to the lower gut and body interior. Many autoimmune issues result from a cascade of issues following chronic insufficient stomach acid. ·         Tums, Rolaids, and proton pump inhibitors like Protonix, and other PPIs actually suppress or absorb the stomach acid- severely impacting digestion negatively and perpetuating an already pressing problem. ·         To test whether or not you are sensitive to HCl (and for the presence of ulcers) take the HCl Sensitivity Test HERE. ·         For those who FAIL the HCl Sensitivity test, shoot me an email (manny@therolfworkshop.com) and I will make recommendations to resolve the issue. ·         For those who PASS the HCl Sensitivity test, shoot me an email and I will send you the follow up test: The Zypan Test for optimal digestion. ·         To order Zypan (free shipping from me) in either 90Tablet or 330Tablet size- call my concierge at (949) 954-6225.   ·         All other questions- email me directly at manny@therolfworkshop.comdi
