October 10 is such an insanely packed week that we wanted to review a few of the new releases a little early here at Breakfast All Day: TRON: ARES: The third movie in the "Tron" series has a dopey script but extremely cool visual effects and a great soundtrack from Nine Inch Nails. A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE: Kathryn Bigelow is back with a sharp, tense tale about what happens when an unknown country launches a nuclear strike against the United States. In theaters this weekend before streaming on Netflix Oct. 24. KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN: This splashy movie musical from "Dreamgirls" director Bill Condon features dazzling production numbers, lush production values and great performances from Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna and Tonatiuh, who is going to be a star. The Smashing Machine is a 2025 biographical drama film directed by Benny Safdie, starring Dwayne Johnson as legendary mixed martial arts fighter Mark Kerr. The film chronicles Kerr's career in the late 1990s, focusing on his quest to become the greatest fighter in the world while also battling his dependence on opioids and a volatile relationship with his girlfriend, Dawn (Emily Blunt). The movie is noted for its raw, observational style, using different film formats to reflect Kerr's emotional state and exploring themes of addiction and self-awareness. Hosted by Ausha. Send us a textWelcome back to DMRaka Charlie Sheen is the unfiltered Netflix documentary that's setting social media on fire. Told over two explosive episodes, it strips away the tabloid frenzy to reveal the real man behind the headlines. From childhood in Malibu to peak Hollywood fame and public collapse, Charlie Sheen finally opens up about the addictions, the scandals, and the self-destruction that nearly ended his career — and his life. Now seven years sober, he's reclaiming the mic to tell his story in his own words. With jaw-dropping confessions, exclusive interviews, and raw emotional moments, the doc features voices from those who lived it with him — Denise Richards, Jon Cryer, Brooke Mueller, even his former drug dealer. This isn't just another celebrity redemption arc; it's a wild, cautionary tale of excess, ego, and survival in the spotlight. Brutally honest, wildly entertaining, and impossible to ignore — aka Charlie Sheen is the doc everyone will be talking about. "No fear. Like Tom f---ing Cruise." One Battle After Another is Paul Thomas Anderson like you've never seen him before. Gripping you from the first second of its barnburner opening montage, Anderson synthesizes his typical mastery of emotional stakes with the very unexpected: action chops. We discuss his love for Terminator 2, another all-timer Leonardo DiCaprio performance, and the star turn of one Chase Infiniti. Even middle-of-the-road PTA is good enough for a spot in the best of the decade. Hell, make it two decades.

We'll spin around and wag our tails for a treat -- we're kinda shameless that way here at Breakfast All Day. October begins with reviews of three very different films: GOOD BOY, a lean and clever horror movie told from a dog's perspective. Indy, who's director and co-writer Ben Leonberg's own retriever, is actually the best boy. And in case you're worried: He's OK at the end. In theaters. PLAY DIRTY, a listless action comedy from director and co-writer Shane Black, who's had a much better track record with this kind of movie in the past ("Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," "The Nice Guys"). Mark Wahlberg and LaKeith Stanfield lead an ensemble cast. Streaming on Prime Video, but you should avoid it. ARE WE GOOD?, an intimate documentary that looks at the life and career of comedian and "WTF Podcast" host Marc Maron. In particular, it focuses on how he's working through grief after the death of his girlfriend, filmmaker Lynn Shelton. We liked this. In theaters. Next week is nuts, with about eight movies coming out that have awards potential, or at least year-end buzz. So keep your ears open, and we'll help guide you through this busy time. Can you outrun a giant mutant bear? As long as you're faster than the guy next to you! Prophecy puts the camp in Camp Kaiju, exploring serious themes in very schlocky ways. Good messaging, bad effects; good characters, bad casting; good guy with axe, bad guy with chainsaw. Not to mention giant tadpoles and killer sleeping bags. It's all here in this eco-horror cult classic that you gotta see to believe. Then, Peter Lorre's back to review The Monster Maker (1944) about a mad doctor injecting his enemies with acromegaly. One of the smartest things I did this year was give this film a 2nd chance viewing. Initially, I didn't give Good Boy the attention it deserved but saw other critics raving about how good it was. I went back in for round 2 and was knocked off my feet. Indy (the dog) carries this film with an adorable, heartwarming while terrifying performance. I just to wanted to reach through the screen and save Indy from all the bad things and you will too! Check out our review to get all the deets about Indy and what made make their film and the performances so endearing. Currently playing in Theaters now ♦♦ Director: Ben Leonberg Writers: Alex Cannon, Ben Leonberg Starring: Indy, Shane Jensen, Larry Fessenden, Arielle Friedman, Runtime: Minutes Synopsis: A dog and his owner take a trip to stay in rural family home, and immediately things get wild in the wilderness as Indy the dog starts to see and sense dark entities haunting the house and possibly his owner. We do not talk about Jeremy Irons enough on this show. He is an actor's actor who we do not see in genre often. His involvement in the remake of a 1980s cult classic changes that and has us excited. We also revisit our conversation about how comedians have positively affected horror. Plus, bad pedophiles vs good ones.We like when PR companies go the extra mile and the marketing for Bone Lake has been inspired. From suggestively placing the R rating to some cool posters, the film's promotion has been eye-catching. The over the top opening adds to this with lots of nudity and a gruesome kill. When it turns things down, it is to an almost shocking degree that may cause people to turn out. Which is a shame, since Bone Lake becomes an excellent psychological thriller that does an excellent job of toying with audience expectations. It also boasts one of the strongest performances of the year.Since returning in 2021, the V/H/S series has put out some great releases. They have taken things to he past along with trying out new things like sci-fi horror. This year the franchise tackles something that John Carpenter was never able to do. V/H/S Halloween sees the found footage anthology turn its eye towards a particular holiday in October. There have been some fun segments, but this is the most fun V/H/S has been as an overall product in years. It perfectly captures the Halloween spirit and presents stories that range from scary to funny. And all of them are gross. This is one of the movies that will become a regular tradition. But there is a major caveat. V/H/S Halloween also has the darkest segment in the history of the franchise. It will be a polarizing watch that many people may skip. Others will think it is great extreme horror. One thing is for sure; the segment is one of the best seen in the V/H/S series, but it feels out of place in this year's edition. Mike talks to Zach Cregger, the director of Weapons. Zach talks about what it’s like to have a No. 1 movie, what celebrity he hopes watches his film and why comedians are good at horror. Zach and Mike also get into a debate about punk rock. Mike then shares his Top 5 Directors of the 2020s so far. In the Movie Review, Mike talks about Him starring Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers. It’s about a rising quarterback who suffers a potentially career-ending injury after being attacked by an unhinged fan. Just when all seems lost, he receives a lifeline when his football hero offers to train him at an isolated compound. Mike talks about why he felt bamboozled, how it lacked a plot and why even though he didn’t fully love it that it could quite possibly be ahead of its time. In the Trailer Park, Mike talks about Sydney Sweeney stepping into the ring as boxing legend Christy Martin. She never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia until she discovered a knack for punching people. Mike shares Sydney Sweeney’s dedication to her character, the red flags from the trailer and what is the downfall of sports biopics. New Episodes Every Monday!
