In 2004, an incident involving an unidentified aerospace vehicle encountered by personnel serving aboard the USS Nimitz carrier strike group off the Baja California coast gave rise to one of the most widely-discussed UAP incidents in modern history. Now, new information has come to light about a similar 2023 incident, reported by personnel aboard the USS Jackson who say they observed—and filmed—four similar objects, one of which was allegedly tracked as it emerged from the water. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we dive into the latest news about the USS Jackson UAP case, how it came to light, and what independent analysis of the video footage showing two of the objects has revealed. We also look at recent claims involving UAP made public by the Skywatcher team, and what all these newly released UAP images and video reveal about the current debate over anomalous objects in our skies. Have you had a UFO/UAP sighting? Please consider reporting your sighting to the UAP Sightings Reporting System, a public resource for information about sightings of aerial phenomena. Between 2016 and 2019, a series of secretive tests were conducted by the U.S. Navy into a mysterious phenomenon that became known as "The Pais Effect." The experimentation stemmed from the publication of a collection of unusual patents describing UFO-like technologies by Salvatore Pais, an engineer and inventor whose work remains controversial today. Joining us this week on The Micah Hanks Program, Salvatore Pais speaks with Micah and colleague Tim McMillan for an on-the-record discussion about the patents, what inspired them, official inquiries that resulted from the Navy's experiments, and also the national security significance of Pais's research into "The Pais Effect." Listen Now to Future News 11.08.2022 NASA has never been one to not have a few good missions unfolding, not the least of which is the Artemis space ship and it’s trip to the moon next week. And then there’s the Lunar Flashlight..On the moon, we must find…water!! And what better to find it with than a special ‘flashlight.’ And then we have the first sonification of our planet’s massive magnetic field; where we can listen to the beautiful aurora borealis, solar flares hitting the field, and other Gaian electro-magnetic phenomena. And since we are paying attention to the Earth, consider that COP 27 is happening this week, where the health of the planet is under scrutiny. For the future of power, the race is heating up towards electrification of energy or the use of hydrogen, the most plentiful element in the universe. Much progress is being had in both building better batteries and in the use of hydrogen. A promising trajectory is not just Greeen Hydrogen from solar electrolysis, but now Red Hydrogen, where high temperatures generated by the excess heat of nuclear reactors can cheaply create the gas from water. Wow, enjoy!
In September 1951, a radar facility along the New Jersey coast began to detect fast moving, unidentified aircraft traveling at high altitudes. Less than a half hour later, a pair of military aircraft flying nearby observed an odd, disc-shaped object which, after they began chasing it, quickly evaded them and flew out to sea. The incident at Fort Monmouth was dismissed by the U.S. Air Force's Project Grudge, the immediate predecessor to Project Blue Book, as having been due to operator error on part of the staff at the radar facility, and a balloon observed by the two pilots. However, a deeper investigation reveals otherwise about a case that, ultimately, caused a "system reset" for the USAF's UFO investigations. We look at this controversial case, and its historical implications in UFO studies, on this episode of The Micah Hanks Program. Within the broader range of UAP reports that have been collected over the last several decades are the so-called “flying triangle UFOs”, objects which are typically described as large, silent, slow-moving triangular objects which are dark enough in color to nearly blend in against the night sky, save only for lighted portions which are often reported at the corners, as well as the center of the base of the objects. This week, we dive into the history of sightings involving black triangle UFOs, exploring the theories about their origin, and possible technologies behind them on this episode of The Micah Hanks Program. On September 16, 1994, sixty-two students at Ariel School in Zimbabwe witnessed something incredible that has impacted many of their lives to this day. Today, their story remains one of the most striking incidents involving a landed UFO craft ever recorded, and yet many questions about the case still remain. Joining us this week is researcher and filmmaker Randall Nickerson, who traveled to Zimbabwe and other locations in order to fully document this incredible story in his film, Ariel Phenomenon. Since the late 1940s, sightings of unidentified flying objects have made headlines across America and other parts of the world. While a seemingly global phenomenon, the collection of data on the UFO subject has benefited greatly from serious investigators who have narrowed the focus of their efforts to specific regions or areas of study. Pennsylvania's Stan Gordon is perhaps one of the best-known examples of the regional UFO researcher extraordinaire. He has chronicled sightings of UFOs, and occasional cases involving "high strangeness" in his home state for more than six decades, and joins us this week to discuss his work on The Micah Hanks Program. Since 2017, many surprising developments have occurred within the study of UFOs, or what the U.S. government and many scientists now prefer to call UAP. But how much has really changed since the UFO mystery began decades ago, and what have we learned in recent years about the phenomenon? Joining us to discuss all this and more is journalist Alejandro Rojas, who shares his insights on the current state of science being applied toward aerial mysteries, as well as the government's ongoing involvement with UAP investigations... all this week on The Micah Hanks Program. Since the late 1940s, unidentified aerial phenomena reported in our skies have remained an issue on the public mind, and an occasional focus of various government agencies. As significant as the UFO problem is, of equal concern to many is the transparency government agencies display about their involvement with the phenomenon and its study. This week, we begin with a report on UAP developments in Brazil, where the Brazilian Senate recently passed an official Requirement related to UAP transparency. Brazilian UFO researcher A.J. Gevaerd joins us to discuss this development, and then later in the program, Bill Ottman, CEO and co-founder of Minds, joins us to discuss his interest in the UAP subject, along with issues related to free speech, transparency, and alt-tech in this week's edition of The Micah Hanks Program. It is among the greatest questions humans have ever asked about life and our place in the cosmos: are we alone in the universe? While scientists believe they are closing in on answers to this long-standing question, many UFO proponents throughout the years have argued that the evidence for alien life can be found right here on Earth. On this week's edition of The Micah Hanks Program, we wade into the debate over UFOs and the "extraterrestrial hypothesis," and why some scientists think that the idea could present challenges for the study of unidentified aerial phenomena going forward. What are the origins of life on Earth? Did the building blocks for life originate here, or did they travel to our planet in the distant past from someplace further out in the cosmos? On this week's edition of The Micah Hanks Program, we explore the idea of panspermia or "cosmic ancestry," which supposes that for life to exist on a planet like ours may rely on extraterrestrial factors. We also look at ideas about whether aliens might already recognize that we exist but choose not to communicate with us, or even whether alien life may already exist right here on Earth. On the morning of July 16, 1945, the world changed forever. On a remote test site in the New Mexico desert, a group of scientists gathered and watched the first atomic explosion, and humankind's entry into the Atomic Age. It has long been argued that the beginning of the UFO phenomenon coincides with the arrival of nuclear weapons at the end of the Second World War. But despite the fact that many--if not most--historical books on the UFO subject begin in or around 1947, shortly after the first nuclear tests of the Atomic Age, do the mysterious flying objects in our skies have deeper roots than this? This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look back at pre-1947 reports that present a strong case for the idea that UFOs have been with us far longer than most historians recognize, and certainly well in advance of the arrival of the Atomic Age. News: NASA finally has a new Leader Since Charles Bolden stepped down in January 2017, this position has been vacant, but Trump then proposed Jim Bridenstine and he has officially been confirmed. He was a Navy pilot, he managed the Air and Space Museum in Tulsa, and he is on the House Committee that oversees NASA, but other than that has really no qualifying experience. Seeing as Trump appointed him and the Trump Administration itself tried gutting NASA of all Earth Science and Climate research last year, I’m hesitant that this will be good, but we will see… SpaceX News SpaceX has launched NASA’s exoplanet-hunting spacecraft successfully into space and landed back on Earth again as a reusable rocket. SpaceX also receive approval to build its BFR, Big Falcon Rocket Rocket and Spaceship, in the Port of Los Angeles. It’s so large that it actually won’t fit on any roads and will have to be transported by barge (massive flat boat), through the Panama Canal, to Cape Canaveral, Florida. Why is this important? The BFR is currently the most promising option as a spaceship to transport humanity to Mars. Why Galileo? Last Episode we discussed NASA’s latest mission to Europa, the Europa Clipper, and we mentioned that Jupiter’s Moon Europa is one of the 4 Galilean moons. These moons have curious names though. SIDE NOTE: If you’ve ever wondered where these planets and moons got their names, we trace it all the way back to Roman Mythology. Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury were named after Roman gods because these were the planets that early Romans could see without a telescope. Then, we continued the tradition, for example: MERCURY: Roman Winged Messenger, winged god of travel because he moves so fast VENUS: Roman Goddess of Love, no doubt because of Venus's dazzling appearance in the sky MARS: Roman God of War JUPITER: Chief Roman God (Jupiter is King of the Gods, an elected position) SATURN: Former Roman God of Agriculture, retired. Replaced by his daughter, Ceres, which is the name of the Dwarf planet Ceres; the largest object in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter URANUS: Former Roman God of the Sky who was replaced by his grandson, Jupiter. NEPTUNE: Roman Lord of the Sea PLUTO: Roman Lord of the Underworld The Romans saw Jupiter as the equivalent to Zeus in Greek mythology, and German astronomer Simon Marius named its 4 moons after Jupiter’s lovers, Io, Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa. However, Jupiter has 67 moons and each of them were continued to be named after lovers of Jupiter, and when those names ran out, names of his children were used. Then at long last we sent a Spacecraft there to scope things out and of course NASA named it JUNO, after Jupiter’s wife. Back to Galileo! Galileo was the first person ever to discover moons around another planet in our solar system and he did this in the year 1610. He is also credited with first observing the rings of Saturn, the phases of Venus, sunspots on our very own Sun and the shadowed lunar surface. The reason why he is so fascinating for us is his story of discovering and trying to spread this truth that the Earth orbited the Sun, and not the other way around! At every turn he was stopped either by the Roman Catholic Church, by the many other churches branched off from the Reformation who understood the bible to be far too literal to allow for his outlandish ideas, or by people who held true to Aristotle’s and Ptolemy’s geocentric ideas so much that they thought Galileo was heretical and insane. Galileo's Background Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa, Italy in 1564. In 1581, he started at the University of Pisa studying medicine, but was soon drawn to the study of mathematics. After school, he went on to become the chair of mathematics at the universities of Pisa and then Padua, centering most of his studies on the mathematics and physics of falling bodies. With that research, he eventually published Du Motu (On Motion), a work that contradicted Aristotle’s views on motion and falling objects. Galileo gave popular lectures to many large crowds which spread his fame and got people talking. Initial Discoveries That all being said, it was his homemade telescope that really catapulted him into upsetting the Church and the norm. At this point, everyone KNEW that the Earth was not only the center of our planetary system, but the center of the Universe as well. In 1604, Galileo built his very own telescope. He noticed that moons orbited Jupiter, confirming that not everything orbited the Earth. He also saw that Venus had shadowed phases, but we’re inconsistent and nothing like the Moons. One of his other major discoveries that locked in his belief of a sun-centered or heliocentric system was the Moons bumpy and shadowed surface, that its phases came from our orbit of the Sun! All of this however, contradicted Aristotle’s teachings and the established order defined by the Catholic Church. Resistance In 1613, Galileo wrote a letter to a student basically saying that the Copernican Theory (or the heliocentric) didn’t actually contradict passages from the Bible and that the Sun was indeed the center of the Solar System. This letter was then made public and the Church denounced the Copernican theory, naming it heretical and thus ordered Galileo in 1616 not to “hold, teach, or defend in any manner” the Copernican theory. Galileo obeyed this order for seven years, partly because he was a devout catholic and partly due to relieve pressure and allow him to continue research. Then inn 1623, Galileo’s friend was elected Pope Urban VIII and he allowed Galileo to pursue his work again on the condition that everything written about this heliocentric theory was objective and not proclaiming it as truth. What did he do? In 1632, he published “Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems” and well, proclaimed it as truth. Galileo was then summoned to Rome and tried for over a year without cruelty, but when he was finally threatened with torture, he finally admitted to supporting the theory. He was convicted of heresy (or contradicting religious doctrine) and due to his old age, lived the last 8 years of his life under house arrest. It’s said that while supporting the theory would get him arrested and claiming it as truth would lead to graver consequences, still he stood up to his inquisitors before leaving for home and spoke the words "e pur, si muove" or "even so, it does move." Speaking of course of the truth that Earth moves and cannot be the center of the universe. Clearly bypassed or ignored, he was ordered not to have any visitors and not to have any of his works printed outside of Italy and naturally, he ignored both, spreading his works to France and Holland. While under house arrest, ha also wrote “Two New Sciences”and eventually became blind, extremely ill, and died on January 8 1642. Partially due to the spreading of his works, over 100 years later in 1758, the Church could no longer deny the evidence of opposing scientific explanations dropped its ban on published works supporting the Copernican Theory, and by 1835 the Church disposed of its opposition to heliocentrism in general. Finally in 1992, Pope John Paul II rectified one of the Catholic Church’s most infamous wrongs of condemning Galileo, which was seen throughout history as one of the main pillars separating Science and Religion, of course later confirming that science and religion are in fact complimentary in their explanation and support for theories concerning the beginning of Earth and our Universe. Patreon Questions: FLO: Angela Cunningham from Poway CA askes: 1a. How do we decide who has the right to mine, colonize, set up their stuff, etc. on the moon? 1b. If/when there are multiple private entities working/living on the moon, who governs them? ANSWER: Agreed upon in 1967, and signed by over 50 major countries, the Outer Space Treaty states plainly that anyone can go to the moon, but no nation can claim ownership to any part of the moon. Episode 004 - NASA Spinoffs FUN FACT OF THE DAY: THERE MAY BE A PLANET MADE OUT OF DIAMONDS. As space facts go, this is pretty impressive. Research by Yale University scientists suggests that a rocky planet called 55 Cancri e — which has a radius twice Earth’s, and a mass eight times greater – may have a surface made up of graphite and diamond. It’s 40 light years away but visible to the naked eye in the constellation of Cancer. Contest Reminder Shout out to Gwydion 16 year old from North Whales hoping to study Astrophysics at University and go on to cool Space Stuff after that News: NASA will fly you to the sun — or at least your name. Now until April 27, NASA is accepting online submissions to be sent on the Parker Solar Probe all the way to the sun. Learn more and add your name to the mission here: http://go.nasa.gov/HotTicket China’s Space Station is crashing to Earth If you haven’t heard, Tiangong-1 launched in 2011 as China's first space laboratory, a first step to a permanent space station. For about five years, it orbited Earth and acted as a base for three missions for the Chinese National Space Administration. In September 2016, however, Chinese officials announced that they had lost control of the station, meaning it would eventually come hurtling back to Earth. Exactly when or where it would do so was a mystery. We’ve now learned that the 9.5 ton Heavenly Palace is expected to sometime in the next few weeks in Spain, Portugal, France, and maybe even Greece. Todays Topic: Spinoffs Tony what are spinoffs? Inside 2018 Spinoffs Since 2976, Spinoff has anually profiled an average of 50 commercial technologies with origins in NASA missions and research. You can download these issues at spinoff.nasa.gov Weightless “Weight” Lifting Builds Muscle on Earth In zero gravity, the human body quickly loses significant muscle and bone mass, making a rigorous workout schedule crucial to long-term health. OYO Fitness founder Paul Francis worked with NASA to develop a resistive exercise device for the astronauts to use in space. The innovation led to several lines of Earth-bound exercise devices, most recently OYO Fitness’ DoubleFlex Silver portable gym. Francis describes the DoubleFlex as the world’s only exercise device that applies resistance to both sides of muscle groups in one motion, enabling balanced bodybuilding in half the time. “Combining strength with movement, without weight or momentum, our portable gym is the new way to get fit anywhere, anytime,” he says. Space-Grade Insulation Keeps Beer Colder on Earth KegSheet beer keg insulators made with multilayer reflective thin-film insulation pioneered by NASA, are not just effective but also lightweight and low-mass, folding up small enough to fit in a back pocket. KegSheets began showing up at retailers, mostly around Philadelphia, in late summer of 2016, going for anywhere from $8 to $15. Most Famous Spinoffs Digital Image Sensors Whether you are using a DSLR camera, your cell phone, or a GoPro, you’re using NASA technology. The CMOS active pixel sensor in most digital cameras was invented when NASA needed to miniaturize cameras for missions to other planets. Related Myth: Didn’t NASA also invent the MRI?? CAT SCAN??? No, actually NASA did not invent it, but this active pixel sensor that was originally made to enhance images from the Moon and that was implemented in these cameras, was also used to improve images of the organs in the human body for diagnostic purposes. Two techniques that were improved by this spinoff were the CAT Scan and the MRI Enriched Baby Formula While developing life support systems for Mars missions, NASA-funded researchers discovered a natural source for an omega-3 fatty acid that is now incorporated into more than 90 percent of baby formulas on the market. Winglets Upturned tips of wings known as “winglets.” Winglets are used by nearly all modern aircraft and have saved many billions of dollars in fuel costs. GPS Before NASA, GPS data could be inaccurate by as much as 15 meters (50 feet)due to uncertainty of GPS satellites’ positions, drift in satellite clocks and interference from Earth’s atmosphere. In the 1990s, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) developed software to correct these uncertainties. This technology now supports all the world’s major precision-GPS providers with corrective data, enabling accuracy up to within five centimeters. Memory Foam Created to keep test pilots cushioned during flights. Today, we use it for beds, couches, chairs, shoes, movie theater seats , and football helmets. Advanced Water Filtration Even though we’ve recently discovered water on the Moon and on Mars, these planets are still considered deserts. Every drop must be recycled and reused. A nanofiber filter created to purify water in orbit aboard the ISS is currently at work on Earth in devices that supply water to remote villages as well as in a water bottle that lets hikers and adventurers gather water from streams and lakes and filter it right there in there bottle. Invisible Braces A company working with NASA invented the translucent ceramic that became “invisible” braces, which went on to become one of the best-selling orthodontic products of all time. Cochlear Implants Adam Kissiah, an engineer at Kennedy Space Center who was hearing impaired used his NASA experience from work in the Space Shuttle Program to develop a hearing aid that worked by electric impulses rather than sound amplification. Dustbuster/ Cordless Tools One of the most successful commercial spinoffs of space When astronauts in the Apollo program needed to bring tools far away from the lander, NASA made them cordless tools. All of the screwdrivers you see when you walk into Home Depot exist because of this The most popular spinoff being the Dustbuster cordless vacuum. Laptop In November 1983, NASA flew a nine-day space shuttle mission that marked the space debut of SPOC, the Shuttle Portable Onboard Computer… or, the first laptop. Since then, computer companies have all used this technology. Freeze Drying When NASA was creating food for astronauts to eat in space, they worked with Nestle to come up with Freeze Drying – a process that involves dehydration of food to make it more convenient for transport, but is now used commercially with fruit and even insects.. Scratch-resistant Lenses To withstand to harsh environments of space, NASA developed a diamond-like carbon coating for the Astronauts visors. This was eventually spunoff to the sunglasses industry and most higher quality sungalasses are coated with this. Joystick This computer gaming device was first used on the Apollo Lunar Rover. However, gaming wasn’t it’s first spinoff application. In 1972, a paraplegic named Tom Wertz noticed Apollo astronauts driving the Lunar Rover with the joystick of their time, known as the T-bar. After testing himself, he realized that if this could be adapted to cars, it would help the handicapped population immensely. After nearly 10 years in development NASA and the Department of Veterans Affairs developed a joystick called Unistik, that was installed to control a Ford van. NOT NASA -Mistakenly Attributed Items The following is a list of technologies sometimes mistakenly attributed directly to NASA. In many cases, NASA popularized technology or aided its development, which ultimately resulted in the technology's creation. Tang juice powder - Tang was developed by General Foods in 1957, and it has been for sale since 1959. It was used in the multiple space missions, which gave brand awareness to it. Barcodes - The barcode was invented in 1948. However, NASA developed a type of barcode that could endure in space environments. Space Pen - An urban legend states that NASA spent a large amount of money to develop a pen that would write in space (the result purportedly being the Fisher Space Pen), while the Soviets used pencils. While NASA did spend funds to create a pen to work in space, the project was cancelled due to public opposition, and U.S. astronauts used pencils until the Fisher space pen was invented by a third party. Velcro - Velcro is a Swiss invention from the 1940s. Velcro was used during the Apollo missions to anchor equipment for astronauts; it is used for convenience in zero gravity situations. Science is moving as fast as politics these days, and just as in the days of Galileo, science is being politicized and legislated. When you have to legislate science, it ain't pure science, is it? Nor is everyone's intentions necessarily always benevolent. Tune in and join the discussion on the Mad Scientists Exposed show! We will discuss chemtrails, HAARP, vaccines, and many topics scientists do NOT want us to discuss.
