With the release of Superman almost upon us, and the dawn of the DCU, we take a look back at every DC film released since the end of the Nolan Batman trilogy, from the DCEU, the other movies that are not in that continuity, and the theatrically animated films, we rank them all (and opinions will vary!) We've made it to the end of the Nolan Batman-verse with his final installment, the 2012 film, The Dark Knight Rises. Chris and Luke are joined by our good friend Sam to break down the conclusion to the trilogy within the franchise. Lines were drawn on this episode and sides were taken as we discuss whether this movie is a proper conclusion for the trilogy or just a bunch of nonsense. Does the Bane voice bother you? Well then stay tuned because you're going to be hearing it non-stop. Fish Stick Water!
We return to the Batman universe with our fifth episode in the franchise, where we celebrate the iconic start of Christopher Nolan's trilogy: Batman Begins (2005). Chris and Luke discuss the impeccably written first hour of the movie, the different versions of Fear that Bruce Wayne/Batman must face, the beginning of the Nolan Batman ending problem, and so much more. Also, we are joined by a Special Guest, the Boss man himself, Bruce Springsteen at the end of the show to discuss his thoughts on the crime and corruption in Gotham City. You don't want to miss this!
This week, Jared and Teladia create a sequel trilogy to the Christopher Nolan Batman movies of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises. They discuss the introduction of the Batfamily of Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and other characters such as Flash, Wonder Woman, and Superman. They also link this universe to the SnyderVerse by using Flashpoint to transition from the Batman Trilogy to the Zack Snyder DC movies. The Nolan Batman movies defined the character of Batman for a generation of fans, and a move the SnyderVerse could have been a unique way to reboot at the end of the universe. What do you think? What sequels to the Nolan Batman movies would you like to see? What character would you want to see? Would you want it to transition to the SnyderVerse? After a landmark 270th episode that saw the return of friend of the show Kevin Altieri, the Good Brothers considered unplugging the microphones for good, but alas their dedication and love of the listeners (and brands) have them back for a trip around the multiverse with an Elseworlds review of 2004's The Batman episode "Traction." Keeping on theme for the hosts mini-celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Knightfall storyline, this episode features this universe's version of "The Man that Broke The Bat" looking and functioning in a very different way then we saw in Batman: The Animated Series. Hear the hosts talk about the plot point and visual parallels to its' Knightfall/Knightquest comic book counterpart, Bane's visual comparison to a certain "Hulk" of a character, how this series went with a very specific version of Alfred and parallels and homages from and to the Nolan Batman movies and Sam Raimi's Spiderman. All of this and more, plus a preview of next month's review schedule await you on this week's all new DCAU Review! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dcaureview/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dcaureview/support

Perhaps a bit of a controversial choice, The Dark Knight Rises is the conclusion to the Nolan Batman trilogy. A lot of people enjoy this movie--but should it have been better? Was it too long? Was Bane's plan convoluted? At least one of us thinks so! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whywasntitbetter/message

Worst podcast you've ever heard? Well, our next one will be better! We're talking about Tim Burton's under-appreciated 1994 biographical comedy/drama 'Ed Wood'. This film follows the real life so-called "worst director of all time" Edward D. Wood Jr. on his journey to creating one of the most infamously terrible films in history 'Plan 9 from Outer Space' - as well as his assembly of a group of misfits, and his friendship with Bela Lugosi. The film stars Johnny Depp, Martin Landau, Sarah Jessica Parker, Bill Murray, Lisa Marie, George 'The Animal' Steel, Jeffrey Jones, and Patricia Arquette. We also get into the quality of comedy scripts, Burton vs. Nolan Batman, and the quality of carnival food. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: We are finally attempting to have a social media presence. Join us for another solo Anthony episode. This time he talks about the family get together, Top gun, escape rooms. About halfway through the podcast he realizes no one else was there the whole time, and he was talking to himself, it's all very emotional, I cried at the end when he wrote the description in the third person.
In this longer episode (sorry guys,) the dynamic duo of J&J talk about the critically and audience acclaimed Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan. Do we love them? Hate them?? Can we understand Batman's voice? Bane? Do we think the "twist" in The Dark Knight Rises was painfully obvious and could be seen thirty three miles away? Listen and find out! Joe and Smith sometimes ask each other questions to which they already know the answer. More Utah municipality talk. Smith is feeling a bit off and tries to re-center himself with a calming rendition of Cotton-eye Joe. The guys play a round of finger, mercenary, kiss with Nolan Batman villains, and then another round of candlelight dinner, church dance, eternal marriage with characters from The (Diggery) Batman. The guys surmise that the Joker would not be a very loyal Tenenbaum. Why does it feel so good to feel bad? It's so comforting sometimes. Joe recommendation: American Crime Story: Impeachment. Bane reads us a quote from Dallin Oaks about apologies. Joe Smith was a fast-talker, an artist of misdirection. 4'33” is a composition by experimental composer John Cage. Link below to EV's karaoke version of it. Smith starts out by accidentally reading the wrong chapter, that's just extra blessings. This chapter of the BOM starts with an angel appearing to Nephi and showing him all sorts of visions. Who is the best Scrooge? Michael Cain? George C. Scott? Bill Murray? Joe goes in-depth to explain the condensation of God. Smith channels his inner 12-year-old for a pretty jizzy interpretation of the vision of the tree of life. A dog at Smith's house says hello from a different room. Smith tells us a mission story about having to use his Priesthood authority to cast out EFY music. He shares his opinion on the LDS practice of having youth participate in a trek (pioneer LARP-ing). Smith gets so worked up talking about the trek that he needed to end the episode in anger, which is something experts advise against. George loved the Nolan Batman trilogy before we ever considered doing a podcast. So how excited will he be when he realizes that the same director put together a similar cast (plus a Wolverine and a Gollum) to tell the tale of two professional rivals who become bitter personal enemies. Oh and there is magic and David Bowie and maybe the darkest personal quest we've seen in a Piper Perabo movie. Will George and Travis be able to keep up with the twists and turns (and teleportation) in their first watch through this movie? Will Dan finally show the guys a movie that they both like on their first watch? Will anyone finally do something about these damn dirty apes? Tune in to find out! Dragon on The Couch: The Dragon watched The Last Duel (HBO), which she didn't expect to enjoy, but wound up loving it, especially in how it tells the story. Next, the Dragon watched Lamb (Rent), an A24 film that both Berto and her agreed had nothing to say, but they enjoyed. The Dragon watched Turning Red (Disney +), a new Pixar film about a girl who turns into a red panda; the Dragon really enjoyed it and felt it was a great depiction of a girl going through puberty. Next, she watched the Spanish film Parallel Mothers (Rent), about two women who gave birth in the same room, which she enjoyed but felt it was a little like a soap opera. Finally, the Dragon watched Tiny Tim: King for a Day (Kanopy), a documentary about a little known musician that she enjoyed. Berto on the Bed: Berto watched In the Line of Fire (Netflix), which he described as a good action-thriller/dad movie. Next, he watched Pig (Hulu) and felt it was slow and weird, but he really enjoyed it. Next, Berto watched The Dark Knight (HBO/Netflix), he thought it was great and he really enjoyed how the Nolan Batman films have deep themes. Next, Berto watched the French horror film Inside (Shudder), which he enjoyed but acknowledges it's cartoonish in its blood and gore. Berto watched The Adam Project (Netflix), which he thought was a good action film and he enjoyed Ryan Reynolds doing his typical comedic action movie role. Berto also watched Eli (Netflix), which started as a ghost horror film, but has a few twists that he thought were good and unexpected. Finally Berto watched Starship Troopers 2: Hero of The Federation (HBO), which he found to be bad and trite and had nothing to do with the original movie. This week's deep dive was the 2020 sci-fi film Meander, currently streaming on Amazon Prime.

An OG Ohio based sex shop has been sold. R.I.P. Ambiance, The Store for Lovers. Upon his arrival, Dam came through with an additional local news burner, literally. As we were already talking guns, we did one more that was super sad. Dan took to Verdansk on last time as a new map is coming to Call of Duty Warzone. He also got in some Suite time at the hockey game. He also has some Christmas fun times. Gabe explains what “Moving Day” is in the life of an RV'er. Tee's kid is turning 18 and that leads some places, including, is Chuck E Cheese frankensteining your pizza together? The Nolan Batman trilogy is bonkers good. We discuss why. The Matrix Resurrections cannot arrive soon enough! On our way to Reddit we take a dip off to USA Today to read something we feel is in the AITA multiverse. “FREE PS5!!” is what Ryan Bennett said I should name the episode. I didn’t listen, but hopefully, including “FREE PS5!!” in the notes will up the SEO anyway. We went off the rails a bit. Ryan’s lawyer got involved, but we also discussed offering a free PS5, the meaning of “paisano,” what we’d do with a million bucks, "small bane," "petite scarecrow," and he gave advice to knife guys. This episode was magically timed to release on Ryan's ACTUAL BIRTHDAY! Go online and wish him a good one. We’re continuing Courtney’s deep dive into the Nolan Batman trilogy with one of the most iconic and influential films of the last 30 years - 2008’s exceptional The Dark Knight! We marvel at the mesmerizing, timeless, and Oscar-winning portrayal of Heath Ledger’s Joker, we take detours about Patton Oswalt, Michael Keaton’s Batman, and discover some real animosity towards Pixar’s WALL-E - and then we mostly fawn over this gripping crime thriller dressed up as a Batman movie, whose cultural impact is still playing out over a decade later. (Also, it should’ve been nominated for — and then won — Best Picture.) We are on Nolan 3 where we talk about the Batman Trilogy and OMG Scott is just too excited.
We've reached the third and final of the Christopher Nolan Batman films, The Dark Knight Rises. On our Movie Game Night with The Filharmonic we found out Niko Del Rey and Jules Cruz were into this film, so we invited them back on for a real episode! They are very entertaining guys and we had a blast chatting with them about the observations they made about The Dark Knight Rises. We even got them to do their best Bane impression. It was a great way to end this trilogy. We concluded the episode with an Imitation Game and our Patrons get to hear us battle it out during our Top 5 Movie Trilogies (or more than trilogies) Draft! Thanks for going down the bat cave with us, we hope you enjoyed this series of episodes. Hey guys it's Noah here! It's been over a month since an episode was released and I'm very sorry about that. I had a very busy November and this was a hard episode to edit then, of course, there was Thanksgiving week. If you have been continuing to stick with the show and listen to episodes you haven't yet then I appreciate that. I hope you enjoy this episode. Sorry, this took so long to be released, that's on me. - Noah Noah, Sam, and Patrick reach the end of their Batman Retrospective and are concluding it with The Dark Knight Rises. Will they end it on a high note or a low note? The Dark Knight Rises is by far the most controversial movie of the three Nolan Batman films. What will they make of Bane, Joseph Gordon Levitt, and its near three-hour runtime? As the retrospective is now at an end they will also be giving their list of how they would rank all the Batman films (except for The Lego Batman Movie). Enjoy the end of the series! It's certainly been a long series that has spanned since the podcast's beginning. Enjoy! moviemaniacs2020@gmail.com

It's the 15th anniversary of Christopher Nolan's take on the caped crusader, Batman Begins. Riddle me this! Who's afraid of the big, black bat? As part of our 'classics revisited' episode for the 90s. We take a look back to what Batman was like in 1995's Batman Forever. Directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Val Kilmer, Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman and Chris O'Donnell. This ain't your Nolan Batman, full wild and unrepentant 1966's camp is on display here with an insane portrayal of the caped crusader as he tackles the hardship of a love triangle with himself, a new ward in Dick Grayson and two insane criminal wrecking havoc in Gotham as he is sent mysterious riddles (that he largely ignores). None of it makes sense and it is a wild ride. All these and more on Adjust Your Tracking! Follow us on: Twitter: @adjustyrtrack & Instagram: @betterfeelingfilms
Thoughts on The Dark Knight movie trilogy.
This week, host Karl Stern takes a look at another movie villain who is more than a one dimensional brute. We travel back to, what many feel, was the worst of the Nolan Batman films, however, the lead antagonist is an extremely interesting character. Bane is, on first examination, a brute. A strongman who aims to "break the Bat" as per comic book lore. However, there is much more to Bane than meets the eye... even if you can't understand him.
Our look back at the Dark Knight Trilogy continues with... The Dark Knight. From Joker memes to the seamless blending of crime and cape film, Erynn and Evelyn look at one of the most quoted superhero films of the 2000's.

Following up on the very well received Batman Begins, Christopher Nolan brought us The Dark Knight in 2008. The Caped Crusader takes on the mob and faces his toughest challenge yet with the Joker in this moody comic book adaptation that proved to be Heath Ledger's sendoff. But does this movie hold up? Listen as Jon, Colin and Paul discuss the finer and no so finer points of the second Nolan Batman movie and see if Batman saves the day, or if this brooding movie leaves us too sad and depressed to watch again.

As we’re all painfully aware by now, Marvel movies are reliable money printing machines, mostly beloved by audiences—or at least inoffensive to them. The DC universe, though, has enjoyed no such consistency. They had the Nolan Batman movies, regarded by some as masterpieces. If they’d just quit while they were ahead, we wouldn’t be here today talking about what an embarrassment Batman vs. Superman was. Wonder Woman was OK, though, right? Sure; why not. Anyway, there’s another one now. Justice League is what you might call DC’s answer to Avengers, except with fewer A-list heros and Zack Snyder at the helm for most of production. Chad, Chris, and Daniel are dedicated enough to see it early on opening weekend, so they’re here to help you decide how to spend your movie dollars. Has DC learned from their mistakes, or should they go sit in a corner and think about what they’ve done...again? Don’t forget to join us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/screenerscast/) and tell us what you think of the DC universe so far! Best movie ending ever? Daryl thinks so! Daryl Smith hosts again with Jay Sherer as this week's guest (role reversal!). They review Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises to complete the Nolan Batman trilogy, and then they dig deeper to ask some important questions about the story. First up, their review--Quality, Story Depth, and Likelihood to Refer it to others. And here are some of the deeper questions: Should Gordon have lied about Harvey Dent? What are the implications of his lie? "There is no despair without hope." - Bane. What does hope look like for Nolan's characters? Nolan has said the theme of this movie is pain. With David and Jessica out of town, Jimmy and Jason sit down for a nice civilized conversation that quickly turns controversial. They begin by discussing the career of actor Will Smith and a hypothetical reboot of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" with a CGI Uncle Phil. This leads us to the previously-discussed topic of Star Wars and the recent announcement from Disney saying they have no plans to use a CGI Carrie Fisher. The discussion of untimely deaths gets them talking about Heath Ledger and Nolan Batman movies. A few tangents later including: Child stars, Adam Sandler, Family Guy, etc; the two find their way to more controversial waters. They discuss Caitlin Jenner, Trump, Guns, and a possible Bathroom Bill, similar to North Carolina's, being passed in Texas. We welcome feedback - if you agree or disagree please leave a comment on any of our social media sites or email us.

She recognizes the manipulations that have led to this situation,” said Wendy Mericle, “Felicity has set her sights on Prometheus. This season we have said we're going to take her to a darker place, and you're seeing the genesis of the reason why, right here.” Link:http://tvline.com/2016/12/11/arrow-season-5-felicity-spoilers-billy-malone-death/ ARROW, SUPERGIRL, FLASH Go Retro In BATMAN '66 Style Animated Credits (Date: 12 Dec 2016) Fans have been pointing out similarities between Green Arrow and Batman since the 40s, when Ollie was parking his Arrowcar in his Arrowcave. Now, the Emerald Archer is following in the Dark Knight's footsteps one more time, and he's bringing the rest of CW's DC-Verse with him in this Arrow credit sequence, animated in the style of the Batman '66 TV credits by YouTube user Dave Jones. In trying to explain the story, series star Stephen Amell turned to a familiar superhero staple for audiences: Batman Begins. "Susan appears to be up to no good, but in reality, she's just following a very interesting story," Amell told reporters during a set visit back in November. "I mean, the mayor of the town where she's a reporter was clearly not on an island for five consecutive years -- which, by the way, I think it's about time we did that. I always think back to the first Nolan Batman, where Ra's al Ghul says to him 'The world is too small a place for someone like Bruce Wayne to disappear.' Even if [Oliver] wasn't as famous -- and he wasn't -- he did perish in a very famous incident in our story. I always thought when he was in Hong Kong that someone would stop him and be like, 'Hey, you look like Oliver Queen!' but it didn't happen." More than 1,800 participated — twice as many women as men — but the results proved there isn't such a great divide between the sexes after all, at least when it comes to what types of females we enjoy watching on screens. #15 is Felicity Smoak - Felicity was supposed to be a minor character, but her chemistry with Oliver Queen made her a fan favorite. By season two of The CW's adaptation of the DC comic, she was a regular player. "Felicity has developed over the course of the series," says Rickards. "She's from a regular world. She's relatable, honest and grounded. But she's not boring." During a new installment of The CW's Fan Feast, actor Carlos Valdes (Vibe) confirmed that Gypsy/Cindy Reynolds will be introduced at some point when the show returns in January. “There's going to be a new visitor to our world named Gypsy,” said Valdes. "DC Comics fans will be familiar with Gypsy. She is going to be coming in our world and Vibe will definitely get to learn some new skills as part of getting to know her. So I'm excited to see how that plays out.” Based on Valdes' comments, it's safe to assume that they'll be going with the New 52 incarnation of the character, who was a runaway from another dimension. The move came after the Oct. 21 appointment of the superhero to fight for gender equality sparked heavy criticism, with nearly 45,000 people signing an online petition asking U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to reconsider selection of the character. "Although the original creators may have intended Wonder Woman to represent a strong and independent 'warrior' woman with a feminist message, the reality is that the character's current iteration is that of a large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions," the petition read. Dozens of U.N. employees protested at the U.N. headquarters in New York City on the day of the appointment when Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment, said the Wonder Woman campaign would feature various initiatives "over the course of the next year." The U.N. did not provide further details as to why the Wonder Woman campaign was ending this week but spokesman Jeffrey Brez said campaigns using fictional characters often lasted no longer than a few months. Smallville jumpstarted comic book based tv shows and with that came along a show based on the Emerald Archer, Arrow. Of course in doing a show like this you have to have an angle and this show initially did. Arrow took its tone from the Nolan Batman movies and the First season showed it. As the show continued into its Second season however is where it started evolving and embracing the comic book material. So sit back and listen as Dee and CJ reflect on the first 2 seasons of this awesome show.
The power couple discusses the new Dark Horse on-going series from Matt and Sharlene Kindt, Dept. H. We start the week with our excitement for the season 6 premier of Game of Thrones (3:19) and then move into news about the next Spider-Man movie (8:49). We talk about some new podcasts, an NPR interview with Ta-Nehisi Coates (10:05) and Embedded (12:23). We also watched the first two episodes of the new season of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix (14:27). Marvel's Moon Knight #1, written by Jeff Lemire with art by Greg Smallwood, is up next. It was a great debut issue and introduction to the character that we highly recommend (15:53). The Fire Rises documentary about the Nolan Batman movie trilogy (20:20) and another viewing of Batman v. Superman (21:53) quickly followed. Then we dive into "Enough with the Canon," an article from The Atlantic by Asher Albein about the relationship between fans and canon (27:08). Finally, we get to Dept. H #1 and the great start of its locked-room mystery (38:03).

It's the movie that sparked a movement of comic book movies... the gritty reboot! Christopher Nolan made superheros cool and something not just nerds liked with BATMAN BEGINS (2005). In this ep the gang talks about the context of this movie, it's strength as an origin story, the significance of the Nolan Batman trilogy, and how it still holds up. Welcome back ladies and gentlemen! On this show we get into a whole bunch of it; including the Dark Knight Rises, #ForceFriday, the Tarkin novel, Interstellar, and of course, our weekly beer review. So, the Nolan Batman trilogy… probably everyone’s favorite, right? We recently re-watched TDKR and were excited to dish out our fanboy opinions on the conclusion of this epic series. What we remembered? Amazingness. What we saw this time? A solid movie, but the weakest of the three. How do you rate the Nolan trilogy from best to worst? Oh, and speaking Christopher Nolan, Mopar finally watched Interstellar!!! Rejoice! Support this podcast

It has been over a week since Marvel's The Avengers hit the big screen and the comic book world is still reeling. With that in mind Steve, Bob and Bobby tackle the conundrum of how DC Comics can catch up to Marvel in the movie department. Should they fast track a Justice League film or take time to launch The Flash, Wonder Woman and a non Nolan Batman in movies of their own? Find out what we think and let us know if you agree. Of course the gang takes some time to go over their books of the week with Bob lauding John Byrne's Trio, Steve loving on Avenging Spider-Man #7 and Bobby schizophrenically going over Civil War, Journey into Mystery and the Night of the Owls. Oh and Steve let's fly on Diablo III and how it's dominating his life. If this all sounds good to you why not sit back, relax and lets talk some comics!
