Zashiki Warashi: Imaginary Friend or Foe (9/18/24)

The Secret Teachings

A recent Hollywood trend has showcased the childhood custom of imagination. Movies like IF, Harold and the Purple Crayon, and Imaginary all tap into the fantasy of childhood, and the potential horrors in the latter case. It's estimated by a report in Psychology Today that by age 7, about 37% of children have Imaginary friends. Sometimes they are animals, other times they are human with varying genders, and other times they are unidentified but speak different languages. The obvious question is whether children are using their imaginations or are the target of supernatural forces. In Ancient Rome there were household deities who were kept and honored for the protections they offered to the home. Inanimate objects in Rome were supposedly brought to life with their own spirit called NUMEN. This is a belief shared by the Japanese with both KAMI and YOKAI, and the famous Hakkiyagyo procession or Kamikakushi. The household spirits of Rome were called Zashiki Warashi in Japan, and they would both protect a home and befriend children to sing songs and play games. In countless horror movies we may recall children talking to spirits in the home before bad things begin to happen. The playful nature of children indicates a level of emotional intelligence separate from logical critical thinking intelligence. Their ability to play imaginary friend is vastly different than the large percentage of adults who may not have any ability at all to imagine or hold inner dialogue. A small recent study published in Psychological Science suggested that 1/10 have no inner speech. Based on the work of Russell Hurlburt, it's estimated that 30-50% of the public has no inner dialogue. They therefore struggle with language, memory, and other things. This has given rise to the idea of the NPC Theory that up to half the population is nothing more than robotic computer-controlled beings. Perhaps the imaginary friends of childhood take possession of the child and push out the newly formed soul-body so that the growing human never develops any sense of self - they are spiritually dead and the body is left only seeking pleasures in the activities of demons. Correlation is not causation but with about 30% of kids having imaginary friends and 30% of adults having no internal dialogue, perhaps there is a connection - especially when we separate real imagination from the supernatural. Those adults then act as automatons. Perhaps that is also why all over the world sacred texts inform us to stay away from certain meats, because they could pollute our body, i.e., place parasites inside of us. -FREE ARCHIVE & RSS: https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-secret-teachings Twitter: https://twitter.com/TST___Radio Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesecretteachings WEBSITE (BOOKS, RESUBSCRIBE for early show access): http://thesecretteachings.info Paypal: rdgable@yahoo.com CashApp: $rdgable EMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.com

Controversial physics firebrand Sean Carroll has cut a swathe through the otherwise meek and mild podcasting industry over the last few years. Known in the biz as the "bad boy" of science communication, he offends as much as he educ....> No, we can't back any of that up obviously, those are all actually lies. Let's start again.Sean Carroll has worked as a research professor in theoretical physics and philosophy of science at Caltech and is presently an external professor at the Santa Fe Institute. He currently focuses on popular writing and public education on topics in physics and has appeared in several science documentaries. Since 2018 Sean has hosted his podcast Mindscape, which focuses not only on science but also on "society, philosophy, culture, arts and ideas". Now, that's a broad scope and firmly places Sean in the realm of "public intellectual", and potentially within the scope of a "secular guru" (in the broader non-pejorative sense - don't start mashing your keyboard with angry e-mails just yet). The fact is, Sean appears to have an excellent reputation for being responsible, reasonable and engaging, and his Mindscape podcast is wildly popular. But despite his mild-mannered presentation, Sean is quite happy to take on culture-war-adjacent topics such as promoting a naturalistic and physicalist atheist position against religious approaches. He's also prepared to stake out and defend non-orthodox positions, such as the many-worlds interpretation of quantum physics, and countenance somewhat out-there ideas such as the holographic principle. But we won't be covering his deep physics ideas in this episode... possibly because we're not smart enough. Rather, we'll look at a recent episode where Sean stretched his polymathic wings, in the finest tradition of a secular guru, and weighed in on AI and large-language models (LLMs). Is Sean getting over his skis, falling face-first into a mound of powdery pseudo-profound bullshit or is he gliding gracefully down a black diamond with careful caveats and insightful reflections? Also covered the stoic nature of Western Buddhists, the dangers of giving bad people credit, and the unifying nature of the Ukraine conflict.LinksYouTube 'Drama' channel covering all the Vaush stuff in excruciating detailThe Wikipedia entry on Buddhist Modernism Sharf, R. They say there have been eight worlds before ours. Eight times the people of this planet, over vast millennia, built their civilizations, reaching heights we cannot even fully imagine now. They spoke to the stars, reshaped the creatures of the world, and mastered form and essence. They built cities and machines that have since crumbled to dust, leaving only their barest remnants. This is the Ninth World. The people of the prior worlds are gone—scattered, disappeared, or transcended. But their works remain, in the places and devices that still contain some germ of their original function. The ignorant call these magic, but the wise know that these are our legacy. Please join Kristen Numen and me as we talk about The Spiritual Key of Divinity and so much more, as well as live Q&A and processes. On this call with Kristen you will: -Learn about your internal key to unlocking your Divinity -Learn how to invoke assistance from your Spiritual Team -Learn how this key transforms your life -Learn how this key transforms those around you and the Earth! -Learn about the process of balancing your Yin & Yang -Receive a meditative activation from The Angelic Realm
In late 2016 Kristen awakened to a higher truth. She became aware that we have more control over our lives than we are told. Thoughts are things, we create our reality, our inner world creates our outer world. she started to notice that she could hear, see, feel, and know things beyond her physical senses. She could see and communicate with those that have crossed to the other side. She started to see and communicate with Beings of Light. Kristen began this journey through a spontaneous awakening. She continued on this path because of a light, a passion that was ignited within her. Through this journey Kristen has found that she has a strong connection to her Spirit Guides and that of others. The ability to know which Beings are coming through, what a person can work on to assist them in their lives, and what abilities you have and what to do to open them up further. We are meant to live our best lives here on Earth and the key to this is knowing what needs to be worked on, released, and nurtured in order to move on to your ideal path. She is able to see sacred geometry and light codes with her physical eyes. These light codes assist in her growth and allows her to assist others in opening up their spiritual abilities. When mediumship comes through, loved ones bring forward validating evidence that they are living in the spirit realm. Loved ones who have physically passed experience our lives THROUGH us! The amazing part is when spirit validates things that have happened after they have passed, to show that they are always with us, cheering us on, showing us signs that we are unconditionally loved. Kristen is a Kundalini Reiki Master and Teacher. Kundalini Reiki means energy that comes from the Earth and meets with the Reiki life force energy from God/Source. She is a conduit for which the energy comes through, the recipient is the actual healer. The reiki recipient has to accept the energy, set intentions as to where the healing is needed (eg. pain/sickness/spiritual growth/there are limitless possibilities) and allow it to flow through without judgement. Kristen also utilizes this energy to assist with activations, clearings, opening portals of light, and gridwork. The beauty of Kundalini Reiki is that it is intention based. When called to this type of energy, possibilities are limitless. Kristen has the ability to bi-locate to other realms and work one on one with Beings of Light. These experiences are similar to what some call Near Death Experiences (NDE), however she is able to access her inner portal to achieve this out of body communication. This bi-locating ability is still being worked on with the guidance of her team. Many Beings visit her in this physical reality and she can see them with her physical eyes and can communicate. Kristen is able to connect with Gaia (Mother Earth) and Elemental Beings. Receiving signs, winks, synchronicities from Spirit to assist on this life journey. Being a multi faceted channel allows her to connect with many types of Beings of Light, and receive guidance and knowledge. She is able to see the "shadow side" (beliefs and parts of ourselves we don't like to see) of those that she is reading in order to bring positive transformation to their lives.   Kristen is grateful for everything and everyone in her life. This journey has transformed her life for the better. Her goal is to open others up to the magic of this human realm, and experience joy on a new level. Knowing that you can face anything head on with confidence and create the life of your dreams. Spiritualism, Episode #3 of 4. In the late 20th century, white Americans flocked to New Age spirituality, collecting crystals, hugging trees, and finding their places in the great Medicine Wheel. Many didn't realize - or didn't care - that much of this spirituality was based on the spiritual faiths and practices of Native American tribes. Frustrated with what they called “spiritual hucksterism,” members of the American Indian Movement (AIM) began protesting - and have never stopped. Who were these ‘plastic shamans,' and how did the spiritual services they sold become so popular? Listen to find out! "There is this incredible philosophy around healing and wholeness and working with plants yet most people only experience it through products on a shelf."Ann Ambrecht is a writer and anthropologist (PhD, Harvard 1995) whose work explores the relationships between humans and the earth, most recently through her work with plants, herbal medicine, and the botanical industry. She is the director of the Sustainable Herbs Program, a program of the American Botanical Council, which she began in 2016 to help bridge the gaps between the values of herbal medicine and the reality of sourcing and producing herbs on a global scale. She is the co-producer of the documentary Numen: the Nature of Plants, and author of the award-winning ethnographic memoir, Thin Places: A Pilgrimage Home, based on her research in Nepal. She is a student of herbal medicine and was a 2017 Fulbright-Nehru Scholar documenting the supply chain of medicinal plants in India. Her book, The Business of Botanicals: Exploring the Healing Promise of Plant Medicines in a Global Industry was published in February 2021.In this episode, Ann discusses how the Sustainable Herbs Program wants to inspire a movement that supports high-quality herbal products, sustainable and ethical sourcing, and greater overall transparency in how herbs reach end-users.Ann talks on:An introduction to herbalism - being exposed to the aliveness of the world and experiencing plants as living entities.Telling the story of herbalism to reach different audiences. What is currently happening in the herb industry – the negatives and positives.
