295 – What do you think of when you hear the phrase: worshiping idols? You probably think of something that happened thousands of years ago, but isn't relevant in today's world.I mean really, who bows down to idols today?Well, you'd be surprised. We may not make idols the way people in the Bible did, but there are modern day idols that we need to quit worshiping. My guest this week, Jake Doberenz, host of the Smashing Idols Podcast, talks about some of the idols in today's world that even the church has been bowing down to. And he'll share: How to realize this is what's going on when you're not aware of it How to quit worshiping these modern day idolsHow to destroy themThe blessings that come when you do this.Jake says there are often times when we have to make choices in life. We can't follow the world and Christ at the same time. We can't serve a materialistic way of life and God. We need to serve God and follow Christ. And in the process, not to make idols out of our own opinions and perspectives.Jake Doberenz info:Website: www.jakedoberenz.com/Podcast and newsletter: https://jakedoberenz.substack.com/Theophany Media, Jake's podcast production co. www.theophanymedia.comShow notes:Transcript and Bible quotes: thebiblespeakstoyou.com/295Text me your questions or comments.∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞HELP ME CELEBRATE Your answer will be part of Episode 300 Go to Celebrate 300 and tell me Your nameWhere you're fromYour answer to this question: If you could go back in time and talk to Jesus, what would you ask him?I need your answer by June 13, 2025Thanks so much!Support the showIf you enjoy the podcast, please rate and leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify__________________James Early, the Jesus Mindset Coach, is a Bible teacher, speaker, and podcaster. In this episode, Ryan Panzer and Jake Doberenz join Loren and Martha to discuss the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the church. They share examples of how they are currently using AI in ministry. They also discuss the potential and possibilities of AI, including its role as a tool for helping to articulate faith stories and as a productivity booster. The conversation also highlights the importance of preaching and teaching, the caution of embracing AI without replacing human gifts, and the importance of nuance and ethics. They also address the fears and concerns surrounding AI in the church, such as job displacement and the potential for AI to replace human creativity and relationships, utilizing the theological lens of the Tower of Babel and understandings humans as simultaneously saint and sinner. Finally, together they explore the question of consciousness and the ascription of personhood to AI while calling for a continued conversation to discern the way forward. Christian Identity // S2E6 On this episode we had a conversation with Jake Doberenz the president of Theophany Media and author of "Who we are, 7 Christian Identities to Shape Your Life". We unpack 3 of 7 identities that Jake wrote about and in his book Jake covers 7 identities that the world pressures you to adopt along with 7 Christian Identities. This conversation is important as the world will continue to pull us in a direction that is moving away from God, and we need to stand strong in Christ with our identity is in Him!Check out Theophany Media:https://theophanymedia.com/Check out more of Yvette:https://positivelyjoy.com/If you need prayer or just want to connect more with Revitalize Kindness:https://www.revitalizekindness.com/https://www.facebook.com/RevitalizeKindness
Join us on this bonus episode as we discuss with our friend Jake Doberenz from Theophany Media the situation between Chris Rock and Will Smith that has resulted in many mixed emotions among their peers and fans.Check out our conversation as we try to untangle this controversial act that will never be forgotten among those that watch the Academy Awards. Overall I think we were fair to each actor involved, at the same time we definitely allowed our faith to guide this conversation. I think God revealed to me His sense of humor by the verse that He put in front of me, and in my opinion it is the perfect verse that highlights the part that both Chris and Will played in their altercation. As we always say on the podcast, God's word has the answers and this topic is no exception!

My wife Chelsea returns to Truthspresso to continue a series discussing abortion. Sci-Fi author Patrick S. Tomlinson wrote a series of tweets in October of 2017 that attracted media attention. News articles boasted that Tomlinson's "burning fertility clinic" thought experiment "shut down" "anti-abortion" arguments. Does Tomlinson's argument pose a challenge to the Pro-Life view? We don't think so. In fact, we think it can be turned back on him. Chelsea holds a B.S. in Nursing from Regis University, a Masters in Nursing from Pensacola Christian College, and a post-Master's certificate in Certified Nurse Midwifery from the University of Colorado. She has worked as a pediatric nurse, has volunteered over eight years of work at crisis pregnancy centers in Colorado and Florida, and has delivered over 100 babies. Chelsea runs the website https://www.crmidwifery.com/ (www.crmidwifery.com) to offer her services. She is opening her own life-affirming clinic this year to serve women in the Denver Metro area. The people of Babel wanted to make a name for themselves. They wanted to reach heaven by their own hand by building a huge tower that would bring them to God. But once again, God shows them that it's only through His Word and plan that we can get into heaven. This week's show dives into the story of the Tower of Babel, as the people's babbling amongst themselves gets them into trouble with God! He keeps His promise and doesn't flood the earth, but He does get creative and changes all the languages! Be sure to grab the activity sheet and coloring page for kids to do as they listen to the show. We also invite you to check out our featured podcast - The Bible...But Funnier for those older kids in your household. Each episode retells a Bible story in its ancient setting while adding a heavy dose of humor and levity. The funny storytelling doesn't stop it from being educational. Not only does it occasionally give important cultural facts, but the show ends with a brief lesson from the day's story. Their latest show tells the story of Baalam and his faithfulness to God!
