Anastasia Canonica was born in post-Soviet Russia in 1991, the year the USSR collapsed and the monetary system reset overnight, erasing everyone's savings. She was placed in an orphanage at age 4 after her parents turned to alcohol amid the poverty crisis, spending ages 4-16 in Orphanage Number 5 in Novokuznetsk, Siberia. After her father's death when she was 11, she became consumed with anger and resentment, developing a physical growth on her body. At 13, she experienced a miracle healing through Louise Hay's book "Heal Your Body," learning to release resentment and forgive. After a two-year adoption process, Anastasia came to America at 16, right as the 2008 financial crisis hit. Parents, the research is in and there are many things to be concerned about as we look at the “state of the American family.” Yet, at the same time, the most important take-away, in my opinion, is that once again children select their parents as the most influential people in their spiritual lives - don't miss that! When it seems that your children are listening more to their peers, social media influences, or just zoning out - remember that the truth you are sharing is having an impact even if you can't see it right away! The research also shows that parents talk about the importance of teaching their children the Word of God, saying prayers with their kids, and making sure that as a family they are in church…BUT, less than half of the professing Christian parents actually followed through and did those things! Parents, these should be none-negotiable things in your home - nothing is more important than the spiritual wellbeing of your family…nothing. Take time to reflect on how you're doing as a husband/father or wife/mother and where you can improve - then take those important steps to grow in your own faith and show your children how to grow in their walk with the Lord.

We are surrounded by endless choices for engagement and entertainment, but feel more isolated than ever. And nowhere is that more keenly felt than in the family. What should be the central node of human society, for many, has become distant. Fathers are absent. Children feel disconnected. Fertility has fallen. Government programs have replaced providers. Mass media has replaced human connection. One thing we should all be able to agree on. It's time to stop scrolling and look up. It's time for a renaissance in the family. Katie lebt mit ihrer Familie in Bakersfield, einer konservativen Gegend, mitten im liberalen Kalifornien. Mit Trump an der Macht ist sie zufrieden. Sie findet einzig, er könnte weniger «mean things» sagen. State attorneys general set the tone for 2026 at the final December NAAG Capital Forum in Washington D.C., highlighting how AG enforcement and policy priorities will evolve — from tech and youth safety to antitrust, preemption issues, and rising consumer costs. Panels emphasized bipartisan collaboration, creative uses of state authority, and proactive engagement with businesses, while previewing Connecticut AG William Tong's 2026 initiative focused on Driving Down Costs for American Families and spotlighting actions on pricing, healthcare consolidation, junk fees, and more. For legal, compliance, and marketing teams, this episode offers a strategic snapshot of where multistate enforcement and regulatory focus are headed — signaling the issues most likely to shape investigations, litigation, and enforcement in the year ahead. Host and American Family Farmer, Doug Stephan www.eastleighfarm.com shares the biggest news affecting family farmers, starting with word of $12 Billion in aide for farmers in our country, how tariffs are affecting small farmers, and management of taxes for farmers. Then, Doug shares his opinions on the top news stories of the week in farming and agriculture and why the chaos of the trade policy is causing more questions than answers week after week. When you look at the recent announcements of trade deals, promises and substantial relief coming to farmers, one can't help but question the poor management for causing this in the first place. While Democrats are busy blaming Republicans and Republicans are busy blaming Democrats, American family farmers are caught in the middle. It's an enlightening and informative discussion you won't want to miss. Website: AmericanFamilyFarmerShow.com Social Media: @GoodDayNetworks

Book episode! What happens when a policy meant to shape a nation reaches into the most intimate corners of a family's life? Journalist Barbara Demick'sDaughters of the Bamboo Grove becomes a prism for a China where babies vanish, families fracture, and two identical lives grow up worlds apart. One twin speaks Mandarin, the other English. One hides in a bamboo grove; the other lands in Texas. Demick joins The Jacob Shapiro Show to explore the lives shaped, and misshaped, by China's restrictive one-child policy. Shapiro and Demick probe the emotional aftershocks of separation, the uneasy collision of two cultures when twins are reunited across continents, and the moral ambiguity of institutions that believed they were doing the right thing.--Timestamps:(00:00) - Introduction and Guest Introduction(00:46) - Discussing the Book: Daughters of the Bamboo Grove(02:04) - Barbara's Journey and Discoveries in China(05:15) - The Impact of China's One-Child Policy(11:28) - Adoption and Family Planning in China(21:21) - Cultural and Demographic Shifts in China(25:35) - Cultural Juxtaposition of Twins(26:35) - Impact of COVID on US-China Relations(27:35) - Adoption and Diplomatic Relations(28:31) - Challenges for Chinese and American Families(30:57) - Adoptees as Cultural Ambassadors(32:02) - Religious Influences in Adoption(34:42) - Economic Comparisons Between Families(39:18) - Psychological Trauma of Adoptees(45:13) -Author's Career and Future Projects(50:27) - Upcoming Book on Berlin--Referenced in the Show:Barbara Demick - https://www.barbarademick.com/Daughters of the Bamboo Grove - https://www.barbarademick.com/book/daughters-of-the-bamboo-grove/--Jacob Shapiro Site: jacobshapiro.comJacob Shapiro LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/jacob-l-s-a9337416Jacob Twitter: x.com/JacobShapJacob Shapiro Substack: jashap.substack.com/subscribe --The Jacob Shapiro Show is produced and edited by Audiographies LLC. It's been a long march to get here, but the results have been devastating. Thirty years ago, on Sept. 23, 1995, President Gordon B. Hinckley, then the President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, stood at the pulpit in the Salt Lake Tabernacle and gave a proclamation to the world on the sacred importance of the family. Over the next three decades, this powerful document, titled “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” has guided members of the Church, and others, in strengthening home and family by adhering to its prophetic principles in an increasingly changing world. On this episode of the Church News podcast, Church News reporter Mary Richards continues the discussion of “The Family Proclamation” and the family itself. She is joined by co-directors of Brigham Young University’s American Families of Faith Project, Loren Marks and David Dollahite, both of whom are professors of family life at Brigham Young University. They highlight their 25-year interfaith research on religiously active families and how resilience is built through faith practices. The Church News Podcast is a weekly podcast that invites listeners to make a journey of connection with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the globe. Hosts Jon Ryan Jensen, editor of the Church News, and Church News reporter Mary Richards share unique views of the stories, events, and people who form this international faith. With each episode, listeners are asked to embark on a journey to learn from one another and ponder, “What do I know now?” because of the experience. Produced by KellieAnn Halvorsen.
