Jasmin Diab, CSC Jasmin describes herself, somewhat modestly, as a mum, leader, nerd and diversity advocate. She is also the President of Women in Nuclear Australia, the Oceania representative on the Women in Nuclear Global executive, a Partner with Global Nuclear Security Partners Australia, a Senior Associate with Mettle Global, a member of the ARPANSA Nuclear Safety Committee and a Fellow with Engineers Australia. Jasmin joined the Australian Army in 2001 and after graduating from the Australian Defence Force Academy and Royal Military College Duntroon,  became a Combat Engineer with the Royal Australian Engineers. With a background in explosive ordnance disposal, Jasmin spent most of her 22 years of service providing operational and training support in countering chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive threats and has seen operational service both domestically and overseas. She thrives leading multidisciplinary teams in uncertainty. On completion of her tenure as a Commanding Officer of an Engineer Regiment, she was awarded a Conspicuous Service Cross in the Kings Birthday Honours 2023 for her leadership. Major General Paul Nanson is a British Army Officer who serves as Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and General Officer Commanding Recruiting and Initial Training Command. During his thirty year career in the British Army, he has served in the Troubles, the Gulf War, the Bosnian War, the Iraq war, and the war in Afghanistan, which saw him appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire for distinguished services. People lie at the heart of any C2 complex – both those in command and their HQ staff, as well as those at the gritty end of an orders process. Beyond the dry doctrinal definitions of command and control sit the facets of mental capacity, resilience, adaptability, leadership, standards, behaviours, and trust. This isn't a one-size-fits-all approach either because the shock of combat and the context (and battlefield geometry of the fight) differ between battles, let alone campaigns or wars. One combat experience might feel similar to previous experiences, another utterly alien. Peter talks to Major General Zac Stenning, Commandant Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Director of Army Leadership, about what these mean, about mission command, the future of C2, the joint and combined fight, and the need for a dynamic C2 structure, as well as the role of industry. Underpinning all of this is a desire -  perhaps even a need - to seek and exploit human creativity and initiative in combat. Heady stuff.

He took command of 1 MERCIAN Regiment in 2020, and led the Battlegroup in Estonia on Op CABRIT 8 in 2021. He has worked at the Army Personnel Centre (APC) Glasgow, Army Headquarters and the Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ), where he was awarded an OBE for his work in support of operations in South Sudan and Somalia. He has instructed at the Infantry Training Centre Catterick, the Platoon Commander's Division at Brecon, and on the Intermediate Command and Staff Course (ICSC) at Shrivenham. He now heads up the Centre for Army Leadership, based at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS). Brigadier Rupert Hoskin, AM is the Commandant of the Royal Military College (Australia) and the Director of Army Leadership. He has had a diverse career, incorporating regimental and operational military service with engineering, project management, representational and diplomatic roles, as well as working in private industry.  He has worked in the UK, Tonga, Niger, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan, France, Morocco, Algeria, Kuwait and Iraq. Rupert has a Bachelor of Maritime Engineering with Honours from UNSW/ADFA, a Masters of Defence Studies from the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College, and a Masters of Business Administration from Latrobe University.  He is a Chartered Professional Engineer, and a Fellow and Engineering Executive of Engineers Australia.  He speaks French fluently and has a Diplôme approfondi de langue française (Higher Diploma of French) from the French Ministry of State Education.  He is a 2016 graduate of the Defence Strategic Studies Course, for which he was awarded the Chief of Defence Force/Secretary for Defence Prize for leadership and strategy.  In 2017, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (Military Division) for his contribution to Defence international relations. He was made an Officer in the US Legion of Merit, and awarded an Australian Commendation for Distinguished Service, for his work in the campaign against islamic State (ISIS). Brigadier Hoskin was also awarded a Chevalier de l' Ordre national du mérite (Knight of the French National Order of Merit) for his contribution to Australia/France relations.
