Nat, Mike and Dan love thanksgiving - Dan loves it so much he's going to Italy on thursday. Mike's going to be sharing his love at the No 1 Sports Bar in Old Street. Yikes... In other news: We're on the front page of the itunes podcast store, whoop! Argo is surprisingly good; the European Podcast Awards are still at the voting stage - vote 'Carnage, early and often; The Killing is back so we're losing Mike for the duration; it's overtime week in the NFL; when Andrew met Tom - the young pretender rode into Foxboro and got SCHOOLED; Mat Ryan had a nightmare, 5 interceptions and no touchdowns; the Dolphins got stuffed by the Bills, whose D finally turned up; Norv Turner’s Chargers looked a little better – only losing by 7 to Denver; the Blue Jays' blockbuster 12-player trade with the Marlins became official on Monday afternoon; Blue Jays turned back the clock Tuesday by hiring John Gibbons to be their new manager; in an NBA season where all of the big teams are looking ropey early – the talk of the NBA are the Milwaukee Bucks! They top the Central division, thanks mainly to Monta Ellis; thanksgiving gets discussed; loads of questions in the Bodeans Mailbag and much, much more...
Nat, Mike and Dan are political beasts, it's on their passports and everything. They prove why at least one of those words is a relevant description with a thorough discussion of the key topics at hand. Honestly, they do: composers, Bond films, sports, what else is there...? With them to help on this front is friend of the show, very funny man and Americarnage's new sideline reporter: Tom Bell. In other news: The Cannon of Carlson gets an airing; Tom has Eagles in his attic; the team try their hand at Monday Night Football intros; Andrew Luck overcame the Miami Dolphins, passing for a 433 yards and breaking the rookie single game passing record; in Oakland number 31 overall pick Doug Martin went insane – rushing for 4 touchdowns and 251 yards; the Falcons went to 8-0, patiently putting away the Cowboys, whose misfiring offence ad disorganised defence will be nowhere near the play offs this year; the NBA season is a week old and all the talk is of the new look Lakers who are rubbish! Despite dumping Bynum and picking up Steve Nash and Dwight Howerd, LA lost their first three before Dwight put 28 on the Pistons in an impressive victory; it's awards season in the MLB, Nat gives us the low-down - Americarnage's place in Melky Cabrera's scheme is revealed; no Hockey, god damn it; Fantasy league update - do you care?; loadsa questions from the Bodeans Mailbag; awesome game from Hollywood and much, much more... Welcome to episode 56 of the Maximise Potential Podcast. I would hazard a guess that the majority of you tuning into this podcast do so because you have a passion for continuous learning and professional development that you can apply within your career and workplace. Yet, if you are like me, you are inundated with so many different avenues and formats of learning that it makes it incredibly difficult to choose what you believe will be the one that offers the most benefit to you or your team. And it was having a conversation about this very issue that led me to the interview we’re featuring today. I would like to introduce Alex Adamopolous who was someone who did take the time to question the effectiveness of traditional approaches to learning and came up with his own strategy to enable learning to be quicker, more memorable and ultimately more effective. Here is Alex to explain more… Key messages from Alex: I went into this interview with the premise that it would be focussed solely on the techniques associated with learning, however it was clear from how the interview developed that Alex’s underlying passion were people – and how his approach is orientated to empower and develop individuals to enable them to make the most of their skills and opportunities. This will become even clearer when I replay just a few of the phrases that Alex mentioned in the interview: “Innovation is about people, not technology” “Transformation happens with people.” “Your people are your strategy” Without doubt, the 70 – 20 – 10 model that formed the basis of so much of what Alex spoke about is well-worth mentioning again; 70% of work-related training & knowledge is gained whilst on the job itself, 20% comes through mentoring, whilst just 10% is from the classroom. And finally, the quote that Alex left us with was “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Alex referred to a research report on employee engagement, which at the time he was unable to qualify. However, since recording the interview we can confirm that Alex’s figures were accurate and the report is titled ‘the state of the global workplace’ compiled by Gallop. On a final note, I would like to recommend that you visit Alex’s company’s website, which can be found at http://www.emergn.com/ where you will find and incredible array of further articles and resources on this subject. Alex, thank you so much again for appearing on the Maximise Potential Podcast. A couple of notes to finish on… I’m sure you remember my interview with Dave Sissens on episode 45 where he re-lived his experience of trekking to the North Pole – well, earlier this year Dave was at it again with an even more extreme challenge. I’m going to sit down with him soon to record the interview and I hope to have it live before Christmas! Welcome to episode 55 of the Maximise Potential Podcast. Over the last few years we have been fortunate to share the accounts of individuals who have created multi-million pound businesses, faced near-death experiences, have broken world records, made countless sacrifices to achieve their dreams and have found an inner strength to drawn upon at times of despair. Yet in testament to the wonderful array of interviews that we have shared on this podcast, the individual who you are about to listen to has somehow managed to tick each and every one of these boxes. Please allow me to introduce you all to Neil Laughton and allow him to share some of his inspirational stories with you on the Maximise Potential Podcast… Key messages from Neil: As with all of our interviews, I’m always left with a sense of awe at the level of accomplishment individuals, such as Neil, have been able to amass within their life. As always, I find myself jotting down one note after another when I’m playing back the interviews – and here are a few of my favourites from Neil’s interview: “Being not too proud to ask for help” was one in particular that sprung out at me, as did “Look for opportunities and opportunities will come your way.” Yet the one that stood out the most to me was Neil’s closing statement, which was to “never, ever give up.” If you visit the webpage for this episode you’ll find several other superb mantras of Neil’s for you to digest and consider within your own life. Neil Laughton, I know we recorded this some time ago now, but thank you once again for sharing your inspirational story with us on the Maximise Potential Podcast. Neil Laughton Quotes: Set some goals, make and plan and go for it! I always had a goal to aspire to Recognise when you need help - and don't be too proud to ask for help Something will always come up if you keep as long as you keep yourself in the game Don't play the victim You have to be aware that you are selling yourself - people have to want to buy from 'you' Look for opportunities and opportunities will come your way never, ever give up Connect with and Learn more about Neil Laughton: Neil's website: Neil Laughton Twitter: Follow Neil on Twitter Listen to the interview: Click on the following link: http://www.maximisepotential.co.uk/neil-laughton/ European Podcast Awards: http://www.maximisepotential.co.uk/maximise-potential-wins-european-podcast-of-the-year/ Rate & Review the Maximise Potential Podcast on iTunes: http://bit.ly/itunes-maxpotential Sponsors: Jenrick Recruitment - specialists in Engineering, Food and Drink, IT and Commercial recruitment services Xerxes Music

... To Drive the Cold Winter Away by Samantha Gillogly Sam is a fabulous artist and frequent contributor to the show. Here she has played 'To Drive the Cold Winter Away' for us and we read her favourite verse for her in the show and print it below. When not practicing, performing, or composing, Gillogly’s off hours are spent writing fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and experimenting in painting, drawing and calligraphy. She is a published writer in multiple formats, and has been a contributing critic to The Green Man Review, an online arts and culture magazine, and now writes on Celtic Arts and Culture for Examiner.com. Her favourite culinary pursuit is brewing her infamous triple-espresso coffee, known to those who've dared taste it as "Viola Varnish". You can find out more about Sam on her website or on our Contributor Page. You can also read her wonderful Celtic articles on her Examiner.com site. The Isle of Many Gods by David Rankine & Sorita D'Este Isles of the Many Gods : An A-Z of the Pagan Gods & Goddesses worshipped in Ancient Britain during the first millenium through to the Middle Ages: A ... Britain During the First Millennium CE. The Isles of the Many Gods brings together, for the first time, information on the worship of these deities in Britain, in an easy to use A-Z. It includes both the native & immigrant gods & goddesses, from well known gods like Apollo, Brigit, Freya, Herne, Isis, Mars & Woden to lesser known ones like Abandinus, Arianrhod, Genii Cucullati, Midir, Vitiris & the Wheel God. You can find out more about the book or buy it from Avalonia Books or Amazon. Find out more about Avalonia on their website or on our Contributor Page. Believe by Jenna Greene Jenna Greene is a Celtic Pagan singer-songwriter and harpist. Her songs are inspired by hope and healing, following bliss, nature mythology, the law of attraction and the little miracles in everyday life. Believe: "I wrote this song for my daughter and all children-at-heart. It is about a magical friendship between a fairy and a human child. The fairy teaches the child to always believe in herself and in her dreams. This song has become my personal anthem. I end every concert with Believe to remind myself and my audience that believing is the magic that creates reality." Jenna can be found on Myspace, but her own website provides lots of useful information. You can find out more details about Jenna on her Contributor Page on our website. The Wife or the Wuddy by John Mackay Wilson This story is the second part of a tale, "The Wife or the Wuddy' by Mr Wilson who was famed for collecting hundreds of tales from the Scottish Borders. I think they went up to about volume 23! This story is a little lengthy, and is the main reason that we split this Holiday Special into two parts. The first part of the story can be heard in Episode SP17a. If you find the accents or the vocabulary somewhat difficult to follow, then please follow along with the text which you can find at Project Gutenberg listed below. You can read the original of this book on Project Gutenberg. Dagda by Andrew Hinkinson-Hodnett I wrote the first version of my poem Dagda back in October 2004, and the verses were shortly afterwards used in casting a sacred circle to invoke the male aspect of the Divine. Dagda is an Old God, an important figure in Irish mythology and a High King of the Tuatha Dé Danann. He is important to many Pagan paths including Druidry. Dagda is sometimes connected in people’s minds to the Green Man whose face adorns old churches, and while there appears to be no evidence I can find to confirm that link as real it is nevertheless one that I myself intuitively make. The version of the poem I present to you today was extensively revised just as a gloriously hot pink and baby blue dawn broke on this very morning in 2009. I only realised when the reworking was finished that it is exactly five years and two months after the original was committed to paper. I hope you enjoy reading, and feel free to make use of the poem in your own ritual invocations (but as ever please acknowledge the poet’s copyright, and do not republish anywhere else). The image above is the Dagda on the Gundestrup Cauldron, courtesy of Wiki. You can read more from Andy on his fascinating blog and poetry site, The Spicy Cauldon. [Source and the full text of the poem] The Greenwood Grove by Damh the Bard This song, The Greenwood Grove, comes from Damh's second album - The Hills they are Hollow which is available on his website, at CD Baby or in iTunes. For more details about Damh - his music and his work, have a look at his website, paganmusic.co.uk or our Contributor Page. Promo - Digital Magic by Philippa Ballantine Digital Magic is the sequel to Chasing the Bard- the award winning podcast novel–written by New Zealand author Philippa Ballantine. "Penherem is a quaint, sleepy English village where people go to escape the 21st Century. Hiding from the world of laptop computers, the Internet, and wireless communication, is Ella. A writer, now barren of ideas and drive, she resigns herself to a quiet life of solitude. Everything changes with the arrival of a shapeshifting thief. Suddenly, everyone begins to change–from the local librarian to the lady of the manor–revealing their true natures and dangerous secrets. Something in this sleepy English village is awakening… something that might be better left alone." You can follow the Digital Magic blog or subscribe to the podcast. You can also find the podcast in iTunes. The story is also available in print form. Nines by The Pentacle Drummers "The Pentacle Drummers' livery has always been green and red. Our tatter coats and face paint help lend a theatrical touch to events. Sometimes it seems that we live our 'Life in Tatters'. At the Herstmonceux and Michelham Priory Medieval Festivals we enter into the spirit of the events by adopting full medieval attire. At bonfires we adopt a much darker look. You will recognise us by our more sombre black gothic costumes and makeup, some wicked hats and a plethora of glowsticks."
Hør bl.a.: - hvad gør I for at opdage nye tilfælde af PML? ...
