“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.” — Galatians 5:17 In every believer's heart there is a constant struggle between the old nature and the new. The Grace Filled Leader-Work Life Balance, Productivity, Time Management, Emotional Intelligence, People Pleasing, Overwhelm

The hardest part of recognizing a people-pleasing pattern isn't the recognition itself. It's the quiet, unsettling question that surfaces right after: But if I stop... who am I? In Part 2 of The Dying to Please Series, Tanya Engesether goes beneath the surface of the people-pleasing pattern to the identity question at its core — because for many high-capacity women, people-pleasing isn't just something they do. It is who they are. The strong one. The reliable one. The capable one. The selfless one. And the prospect of changing that pattern doesn't feel like healing. It feels like losing themselves. In this episode, Tanya explores how people-pleasing becomes identity over time, names the specific roles many women have built their lives around, and addresses the grief that comes with letting go of a familiar story — even a painful one. She then goes to the theological root of the issue: the difference between a worth that is performed and a worth that is established by God before you ever did a single thing. This is not a ten-step plan. This is an honest, grace-filled conversation about what it means to begin rebuilding your identity on a foundation that does not shift — and what becomes possible when you do. In This Episode You'll Learn: How people-pleasing transitions from survival strategy to identity over time The specific roles high-capacity women build their lives around — and what each one is costing them Why letting go of a people-pleasing identity involves real grief — and why that grief is valid The theological foundation of worth — what God says about your value before your performance begins The difference between performing an identity and living from one What Psalm 139, Ephesians 2:10, and Galatians 5:1 say about identity and freedom What it practically looks like to begin untangling worth from usefulness Why receiving is a spiritual practice — and why people-pleasers struggle with it How identity-level work is the foundation of sustainable physical healing Scripture Referenced Psalm 139:14 — "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Ephesians 2:10 — "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works." Galatians 5:1 — "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free." Galatians 1:10 — "Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?" Key Takeaway Your worth was established before your performance began. Rebuilding your identity outside of people-pleasing doesn't happen all at once — it happens in small, repeated, often uncomfortable moments of choosing differently. And the woman you find on the other side of that work is worth knowing. I hope this episode blesses you! In this episode of Faith Over Fear, Jennifer Slattery welcomes Christian counselor and author Dr. Kris Reece for a candid conversation about toxic relationships, manipulation, people-pleasing, and the confusion many believers experience when love becomes emotionally draining. Kris shares insights from her personal story and explains why unhealthy relationship patterns can be difficult to recognize, especially for those who have spent years trying to earn approval, keep the peace, or carry responsibility for others. Together, Jennifer and Kris explore what Scripture teaches about guarding our hearts, setting healthy boundaries, and identifying fear-driven motivations. Listeners will learn how to discern the difference between Christ-led love and unhealthy self-sacrifice, find freedom from people-pleasing, and pursue relationships marked by wisdom, peace, and truth. Can external discipline actually change you from the inside out? In this Beyond the Notes teaching, Pastor Russell Howard works through Colossians 2:16-23, where Paul identifies two dangers for believers: the legalistic judgment of others and the illusion of holiness through self-made religion. From dietary restrictions to ascetic practices to claims of superior spiritual experience, Paul's argument is direct. These things have an appearance of wisdom, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh. The episode closes with Galatians 5:16, what Pastor Russell calls the single most concise and powerful verse in the New Testament on gaining mastery over the desires of the flesh. There are no rules to add, no habits to adopt. There is one command: walk by the Spirit. This teaching is for anyone who has tried harder and still come up short, and who wants to understand what actually produces real growth. What is the true source of addiction and bondage? In this powerful message, we continue our series on Bondage of Addiction and examine what the Bible says about the spiritual roots of destructive habits and life-controlling struggles. Discover why Scripture calls addiction "bondage," how self-centered desires can become spiritual strongholds, and why true freedom begins with repentance. Through the stories of Lot, the Pool of Bethesda, and key teachings from Galatians and Corinthians, we learn that Jesus Christ remains the answer for every person trapped in guilt, shame, fear, or addiction. This message reveals that repentance is not punishment but God's pathway to grace, mercy, healing, and lasting freedom. No matter how deep the struggle, Christ can break every chain and lead us into a Spirit-filled life of victory.

God Reminds Those Who Want a Deeper Relationship with Him of His Expectations for Their Management of His Resources He Provided Them MESSAGE SUMMARY: As followers of Jesus, we want to go deeper in our personal relationship with God. However, God tells some of us that we must start being more responsible for the material things that He has provided before we can go deeper into spiritual revelations. Also, many of us, while seeking to know the Lord better, want to know His will in our lives and for the World. At the same time, we want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. In Mathew 6:19-21, Jesus is telling us that all that we have, which we tend to call our own, really comes from God. God has expectations for our good management of His resources in our personal relationship with Him: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.". God tells us that we are to be good managers of His gifts; however, in Luke 12:19-21, Jesus completes a parable about a man who thought that all his assets were his and not from God: “'And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”. Pointedly, God is telling us that if we cannot be responsible for the earthly treasures, which He has provided us, then how can we be responsible for His Spiritual treasures that He wants to provide us as we seek to deepen our personal relationship with Him?   TODAY'S PRAYER: Most merciful God I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I might delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of Your Name. Amen.  TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Self-Centeredness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Love. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). In this episode I explore an easily-overlooked text with surprising political implications. In Romans 8:29-30, Paul claims that we were “predestined to become conformed to the Image of His Son” and that because of this will have been “glorified”. What does Paul mean? In her book Conformed to the Image of His Son, Dr. Haley Goranson Jacob argues that Paul is claiming believers are conformed to Jesus's status and  function as the Son of God who rules over creation, and that our glorification denotes a sharing in that rule. She explains how ‘glory' when applied to humans in the Greek Old Testament regularly denotes power, authority, and dominion, that the restoration of human glory is an important subtheme in Romans 5-8, and that the sharing in Christ's inheritance which Paul articulates in Romans 8:12-17 is a participation in his rule. The language of ‘image' in Romans 8:29 is evocative of Genesis 1 and Psalm 8, where humans are, as God's image-bearers, given dominion over His creation, and since Jesus now rules are king over all creation his family, defined by faith and the Spirit, participate in that rule. The political implications are significant; I discuss how the church is God's set-apart family and that we are given the task of and empowered to rule over creation, which we must do in conformity with the crucified Messiah. The church exercises political power, but the political power must be cruciform and congruent with Christ's Messianic reign. I also discuss how passages like this should be brought into the conversation about the Bible and politics.  Media Referenced:            Ephesians 1 Episode: https://libertarianchristians.com/episode/ep-248-far-above-all-rule-and-authority-ephesians-115-23/ Philippians 2 Episode: https://libertarianchristians.com/episode/ep-248-far-above-all-rule-and-authority-ephesians-115-23/ Galatians 4 w/ Cody Cook: https://libertarianchristians.com/episode/ep-245-galatians-41-7-and-deliverance-from-this-evil-age-with-cody-cook/ Liberty and Authority: https://libertarianchristians.com/episode/ep-184-liberty-authority-and-the-political-spectrum/  The Protestant Libertarian Podcast is a project of the Libertarian Christian Institute and a part of the Christians For Liberty Network. In this sermon, we explore why the Trinity isn't a theological side note but the very center of Christian faith, shaping how we understand God, creation, the cross, and life in the Spirit.Beginning with God's self-revelation as “I AM WHO I AM” (Exodus 3:14) and the doctrine of divine aseity, we look at what it means that God is utterly self-sufficient—and why our cultural obsession with radical independence is a distortion of our created design (Genesis 1:26–27; Psalm 100:3).From there, we unpack the profound claim that “God is love” (1 John 4:8, 16). If love necessarily involves a lover and a beloved, then only a triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—can be love in Himself from all eternity (John 17:24). We consider creation as both creatio ex nihilo and creatio ex amore—God making all things out of nothing and out of His overflowing love (Psalm 33:6; Psalm 136; Colossians 1:15–17; John 1:1–3).We then trace how the same self-giving love revealed in creation is unveiled at the cross. Jesus' crucifixion is not God acting “out of character,” but the clearest revelation of who God has always been (John 8:28; Romans 5:6–8; Revelation 13:8). The Father, Son, and Spirit act inseparably in salvation just as in creation: the Father sends, the Son is sent, and the Spirit conceives, empowers, and applies Christ's finished work (Luke 1:35; John 1:29–34; Hebrews 9:14).Next, we look at Pentecost and the gift of the Holy Spirit as God's way of bringing us into His own triune life of love (Acts 1:8; Acts 2:1–4; Romans 5:5). By the Spirit, the Father and Son “make their home” with us (John 14:16–23), so that we now remain in Him and He in us (1 John 3:24; John 15:1–11). God's love doesn't sit still; it “compels” us outward in mission (2 Corinthians 5:14–15; Matthew 28:18–20).Finally, we connect this to the movement from pilgrims to pioneers:Like the crowds in Acts 2, we ascend as pilgrims to encounter God in worship and community (Psalm 24:3–6; Hebrews 10:24–25).Filled with the Spirit, we are sent out as pioneers of the gospel to the nations, carrying the same self-giving love we see in Father, Son, and Spirit (Acts 2:5–11; Acts 8:4; Romans 10:13–15).The message concludes with a clear invitation to repentance, faith, and full surrender to Jesus (Mark 1:14–15; Romans 10:9–10; Ephesians 2:8–9), and a prayer to be filled with the Holy Spirit to live in and live out the eternal love of God (Galatians 2:20; Galatians 5:22–25; Jude 20–21).

We're not just a church. We're a Family. Our Vision is clear, simple, and unique. Our vision is Jesus in you. Our vision is for the people of God to have a faith that holds them. The kind of faith that vanquishes doubt, verifies identity, and voraciously contends for inner peace. A faith that removes the past, clarifies the present, and breathes life into the future. Our vision is the Kingdom of God built within the people of this obscure, yet mighty generation. A kingdom so great that its purpose destroys the common lack of self worth. A kingdom that sharpens the eyes, tenses the muscles, and readies itself for the battle against darkness. A Kingdom that brings purpose and healing to those who have failed more than succeeded, who are sinners more than saints, and who have known more pain than pleasure. Our vision is to challenge the weak and unproductive church of our day. To step beyond those who are religiously immature and search out those who for their love for Christ cannot be offended. Our hope is to raise warriors instead of those who think God only exists to keep bad things from happening. To raise those who know that following Christ means suffering loss yet gaining all things. Our vision is clear, simple, and unique…. It is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Paul the apostle tells two stories in parallel: the children with no future and the children of the promise. Contrasting tales of children of a servant with no future security and children of a covenant promise whose future is secure unfold in the history of Israel. Paul maps these on to the lives of the Galatians to remind them of their inheritance in Christ, something they have quickly forgotten. And something we are quick to forget as well. Discussion Questions for Small Groups: 1. Where do you see yourself returning to futile and temporary things because it is easier than remembering the promise in Christ? 2. Every person faces a choice: Will we follow the desires of the flesh, or will we walk by the Spirit? In this lesson from Galatians 5, we examine the two paths that stand before us. One path follows the world and its temptations, leading ultimately to destruction. The other follows Christ, requiring faith, self-control, and sacrifice, but leading to eternal life.Using Jesus' temptation in the wilderness as the perfect example, this lesson challenges us to choose the narrow way and live according to the Spirit rather than the desires of the flesh.Key themes include: Walking by the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-26)  The conflict between flesh and spirit  The narrow gate and the broad way (Matthew 7)  Jesus' victory over temptation (Matthew 4)  The works of the flesh  The fruit of the Spirit  Choosing Christ every day "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." (Galatians 5:16)The Christian life is not a passive journey. Each day we must consciously choose which path we will follow. Through Christ, we can overcome temptation, bear spiritual fruit, and walk the path that leads to life. #Galatians5 #WalkByTheSpirit #FruitOfTheSpirit #ChristianSermon #BibleStudy #ChurchOfChrist #Faith #ChristianLiving #JesusChrist #Temptation #NarrowGate #SpiritualGrowth #FollowJesus #BiblicalTeaching #ChristianEncouragement

In this final message from Galatians, Pastor Nate explored what it means to "ive by the Spirit." Paul reminds us that the Spirit-led life is not mystical or abstract, but practical and visible in everyday relationships. Those who are spiritual restore others with gentleness, bear one another's burdens, support the work of the gospel, and persevere in doing good. Throughout the chapter, Paul contrasts the works of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit and calls believers to reject pride, comparison, and self-reliance.Paul closes the letter by returning to its central theme: our justification is not found through religious works, law-keeping, or outward rituals, but through the grace of God received by faith in Jesus Christ. The only thing worth boasting in is the cross of Christ, through which we have been made a new creation. As we conclude our study of Galatians, we are reminded to stand firm in the true gospel of grace, walk in step with the Spirit, and rest confidently in the fact that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ which transforms, and keeps us to the very end.

Series: The Fruit of the Spirit Title: Plant and Abide Speaker: Pastor Daron Earlewine Date: May 31, 2026 SERIES OVERVIEW: This year, we have been leaning into the person and work of the Holy Spirit. We have talked about the Spirit's presence, power, voice, and gifts. But one of the most important works of the Holy Spirit is not only what He does through us, but what He forms within us. The gifts of the Spirit matter. God empowers His people for ministry, mission, healing, prophecy, service, leadership, and evangelism. But Scripture is clear: spiritual power without spiritual character is dangerous. A person can be gifted and still be immature. A church can be impressive and still be unhealthy. A leader can have influence and still lack integrity. That is why Paul tells us in Galatians 5 that the evidence of a Spirit-filled life is not only power, but fruit: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." — Galatians 5:22–23 NIV The fruit of the Spirit is the character of Jesus being cultivated in us by the Holy Spirit. This summer, we will walk through each fruit one week at a time and ask: What kind of people is the Holy Spirit forming us to become? Because the goal is not merely to be more talented, more productive, more knowledgeable, or more spiritually impressive. The goal is to become more like Jesus. What if the life you want is only 52 days away? Not 52 months. Not 52 years. 52 days. That's how long it took Nehemiah to rebuild walls that sat in ruin for 140 years. Not because he had more resources. Because he stopped normalizing the ruin and started building. In this message, Pastor Eric Thomas delivers one of the most direct, no-excuses sermons of the year. Using the story of Nehemiah, the reality of financial freedom, and raw testimony about structure, systems, and standards, ET breaks down the real reason your life is still broken. It's not because it's too hard to fix. It's because you've normalized it. You didn't ask for the trauma. You didn't choose the betrayal. You didn't knock your own walls down. But 140 years later, you're still standing in the rubble. And God is asking you one question: when are you going to rebuild? Your norm determines your outcomes — not your prayers. You can pray all you want, but if your environment, your habits, and your circle are still operating in 140-year dysfunction, nothing changes. God is calling you out of the 140 and into the 52. Out of survival mode and into builder mode. Out of excuses and into execution. In this message you'll discover: → Why 52 days is not a timeline, it's an identity → The difference between normalizing ruin and normalizing rebuilding → Why your norm determines your outcomes, not your prayers → How to stop fighting the people God sent to help you → The real reason you've been protecting your old normal → Why financial, relational, and spiritual freedom all come down to one word: standards

Many believers understand what it means to be freed from sin, but struggle to know what comes next. Too often, freedom becomes apathy, isolation, or self-centered living.Paul reminds us that we have been called to something greater. We are freed to serve selflessly, not ourselves. Freed to restore gently, not criticize or condemn. Freed to walk humbly, not compare, compete, or live from pride.Through practical application, powerful illustrations, and a clear gospel focus, Peyton shows how true freedom flourishes in godly community. As we bear one another's burdens, pursue restoration with gentleness, and walk in humility, we reflect the heart of Christ and fulfill the law of love.Whether you're feeling stuck, distracted, or simply wondering what faithful Christian living looks like, this message will encourage you to step into the purpose for which Christ set you free.Join us as we discover what comes next: a life of selfless service, gentle restoration, and humble dependence on Jesus. This message is designed to help the Kilgore campus experience God's manifest presence and His ever-restoring life.

While our culture often defines freedom as the ability to do whatever we want, Scripture teaches that real freedom is found in surrendering to Jesus and walking in step with the Holy Spirit.Todd explains how the Gospel frees us not only from sin's penalty but also from its power, transforming our hearts to love God and serve others. Rather than using our freedom as an excuse for selfish living, believers are called to love sacrificially, restore one another gently, bear each other's burdens, and pursue authentic community.Discover how Gospel freedom is not freedom to sin, but freedom from sin—a freedom that produces humility, service, and Christ-centered relationships. If Jesus is first and best, life works best when He is first.

While believers have been set free from the burden of earning righteousness through performance, Christian freedom is not a license for self-centered living. Instead, we are freed to follow Jesus by willingly taking on His yoke—a life marked by love, humility, and service.Ben unpacks Paul's warning against using freedom as an opportunity for the flesh and shows how true freedom is expressed through serving others, pursuing restoration rather than condemnation, and walking in humble submission rather than prideful comparison. Through practical teaching and personal testimony, this message highlights how gospel-centered community helps believers bear one another's burdens and grow in Christ together.Whether you're wrestling with legalism, isolation, or the challenge of living out your faith in community, this message offers a biblical picture of what it looks like to stand firm in the freedom Christ has secured for His people.

April 25, 2026 - Equipped 2026 - Day 3 - 2:30 PM Session In this fast-paced teaching session (a leadership/preacher track) Allen surveys 15 characters from Genesis that are referenced in the epistles of the New Testament, explaining how each person points to major theological themes and offering practical sermon ideas. The episode situates the study within a broader Bible overview (the 5.12 Old Testament / 4.1.21.1 New Testament schema) and emphasizes selecting 3–4 memorable lessons to personalize and preach. Key characters examined include Adam and Eve (human failure and divine redemption; the first and second Adam contrast in Romans 5 and 1 Corinthians 15); Cain and Abel (faithful worship vs. false religion; anger and violence); Enoch (walking with God and being taken by God; Hebrews 11, Jude); Noah (obedient faith, separation from the world, and baptism typology in 1 Peter 3); Lot (worldliness and maintaining faith amid compromise); Abraham and Sarah (justification by faith and works, patient trust); Isaac (substitutionary sacrifice type); Ishmael (bondage under law vs. freedom in Christ); Jacob and Esau (election, spiritual growth, profane living and misplaced priorities); Joseph (God's providence and forgiveness); and Melchizedek (a priestly type of Christ). The episode also unpacks recurring motifs and teaching tools: types and antitypes in the Old Testament, three levels of law, Satan's three temptation tactics (doubt God's Word, deny God's consequences, substitute worldly promises), practical sermon outlines, and multiple New Testament cross-references (Romans, Hebrews, Galatians, James, 1 Peter, Jude, Acts). The speaker provides concrete preaching points and pastoral applications—how to illustrate each character's lesson, sermon outline suggestions, and pastoral exhortations for personal growth and ministry. Listeners should expect a 40‑minute rapid tour designed to equip preachers and students with sermon ideas, textual hooks, and pastoral takeaways—encouraging them to focus on a few key figures for teaching, to apply typology responsibly, and to learn spiritual lessons ranging from repentance and obedience to providence and forgiveness. Our Awesome God -- Part 2: Trinity; Our Father MESSAGE SUMMARY: We worship an awesome, majestic, exalted God. We worship our God with extreme wonder. Our awesome God has revealed Himself as Trinity – three persons of the Godhead comprising one God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, all coequal. We worship Him in extreme reverence, fear, and wonder. All analogies fall shot in explaining an incomprehensible God and the Trinity. The Trinity is a mystery, and the word Trinity is not found in the Bible – the Bible has inferences to the Word Trinity and each of its component persons without naming the overarching word “Trinity”. Today, we are going to look at the Fatherhood of God – the first person of the Trinity. God is beyond gender, but He has revealed Himself as Father in the Bible. In the Old Testament, God is constantly referred to as Father. In the New Testament teachings of Jesus, we are presented with a new level intimacy with God the Father. As in Jesus' “Parable of the Prodigal Son” in Luke 15:11-32, the father gave his son his independence and freedom of will when requested by the son so that he could stray, but the father was always looking for the return of his son, just as God, as our Father, looks for our return to Him from our sinful lives. The father in Jesus' parable exhibited both “mercy” and “grace”, just as God our Father provides us “mercy” and “grace” through the Cross and the Resurrection. Jesus, through His parable, wants us to know that God loves us and God desires a relationship with us. Today, the implications of God our Father to us are: 1) we are adopted into God's family; 2) the Father makes us Spiritual persons – God gives the Holy Spirit; and 3) God the Father allows us to become “Spiritual Heirs” – including an inheritance of eternal life. It is because of Jesus that we can have access to this loving Father. We cannot rely on someone else for our relationship with God – we are God's children; but God, our Father, has no grandchildren. Jesus tells us in John 14:6-7: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.'". The understanding of the Godhead and the Trinity are a gift to us through our Salvation brought to us by Jesus.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Keeping the Sabbath, Lord, will require a lot of changes in the way I am living life. Teach me, Lord, how to take the next step with this in a way that fits my unique personality and situation. Help me to trust you with all that will remain unfinished and to enjoy my humble place in your very large world. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 129). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM RIGHTEOUS IN GOD'S EYES. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 SCRIPTURE REFERENCE (ESV): Psalms 68:5; Deuteronomy 32:6; Isaiah 64:8; Malachi 2:10; John 14:23; John 20:17; Matthew 6:9; Ephesians 4:6; Romans 8:15; Luke 15:11-32; John 1:12; 2 Corinthians 6:8; Galatians 4:6; Romans 8:16; Romans 8:17; Ephesians 2:18; John 14:6-7.
