Together, they explore the real reasons we get distracted during sex, how internal “parts” (à la Internal Family Systems therapy) can hijack our pleasure, and why mindfulness doesn't mean you have to “clear your mind.” Whether you've ever felt pressured to perform, overwhelmed with distractions, or just curious about how to deepen your connection to yourself or a partner—this episode offers practical tools, validating insights, and a ton of “aha” moments. 00:00 Welcome & Intro to Naomi02:00 Naomi's Path to Becoming a Sex Therapist04:00 Growing Up with Open Sex Education05:00 Presence, Distraction & the Sexual Mindset09:00 How Mindfulness Actually Works (It's Not “Clearing Your Mind”)12:00 Communicating with Your Partner About Where You're At14:00 Mindfulness, Emotional Intimacy & Data Points17:00 What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?19:00 Common Parts That Show Up During Sex23:00 Productivity, Energy, and “Sex as a To-Do”26:00 Reconnecting with Play & Joy (Yes, Improv Counts!)30:00 Expanding Definitions of Sexual Touch33:00 The Pressure to “Go All the Way”34:00 How Stories and Anticipation Impact Desire38:00 Polyvagal Theory & Shifting Nervous System States41:00 Creating Space to Explore Without Judgment43:00 Where to Find NaomiWORK WITH HEATHERApply for a free Intimacy Breakthrough Call to learn about Heather's Pathway to Passion coaching method. https://heathershannon.co/new-clients/ LET'S CONNECT! Episode 300 is about why even great marriages could still be at the brink of divorce, and how going through self-transformation could remedy such a situation. There is a common misconception that if you are married, your marriage is guaranteed. This is not the case, and anyone who says otherwise is either unaware of or in denial of the issues concerning the reality of marriage. According to The National Center for Health Statistics in the United States, at least 50% of marriages will end in divorce (Jones & Schulz, 2000). Today, Keith Yackey, founder and CEO of The Married Game & The Ascend Brotherhood, has been committed to helping married men learn how to get their wives to “want” to have sex with them again. He will be discussing communication, attraction, integrity, supporting yourself and other winning formulas that could help you and your spouse rekindle your connection, as every great marriage could be on the doorstep of divorce. It's not a question of “if,” it's a question of “when.” The ability to overcome challenges helps us heal from pain, transform disappointment into victory, and rebuild trust. You don't have to go through the crisis alone. Get advice and guidance from our episodes. Follow us at https://menonpurpose.net/apply/. It's time to stop letting your marriage fall apart! Obedience to the last command of Jesus If your gospel isn't touching others, it hasn't touched you. Curry R. Blake By Pastor George Lehman Matthew 28: 16-17(NIV) – 16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. Matthew 28:18-20 (Amp) - “Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, all authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be). John 17:18 (NIV) – Just as You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. These words of Jesus were nothing less than the Spirit of a great world conquest. This was the beginning call to obedience to “GO” All the nations, all the world, every creature, to the uttermost part of the earth. The heart of Christ was set on claiming His rightful dominion over the world that He had redeemed and won for Himself. He counts on His disciples to obediently undertake and carry out the work. Our walk with God begins with the word “follow” and ends with the words “GO”. The devil shakes when he hears us say, I'll do as You say Lord. His promise to us. Matthew 28:18 (Amp) – “......All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” Matthew 28:20 (Amp) – Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be). I have won, so you now can “Go” with confidence and authority and win back the world for God. Go and plunder hell and populate heaven. Notice: Christ does not teach or argue, ask, or plead, He simply commands; “GO” He has trained His disciples in obedience. He can now count on them. Can He count on you? They accepted the command and passed it on to those who through them believed on His name. Within a generation, simple men, whose names we do not even know, had preached the gospel, and covered the whole of Europe. We are the fruit of their obedience. This command is for each one of us too today. There exists in the church of Christ NO privileged group to which alone belongs the honour, or the duty of carrying the Gospel to every creature. - Andrew Murray We are His body. We now occupy His place on earth. His will and love carrying out through us the work He began in winning the lost back to Him. How miserably the church has failed in obeying the command! How many Christians there are who don't even know such a command even exists! How many Christians there are who hear of it but do not wholeheartedly try to obey it! Many Christians seek to obey it but only when it's convenient, comfortable, easy, with no persecution and when they have time available. We need to accept these 3 commands and place ourselves at God's disposal. #1 Accept His command. There are so many factors that weaken the force of this command. The impression is that a command that is general in its nature and given to all - Its not as binding or as important as one that is personal and specific. If it's not easy to ‘go' and circumstances are difficult, then we believe absolute obedience cannot be demanded. We think God understands. These attitudes are not obedience. This was not the spirit in which the first disciples obeyed. Over the past 100 years the Barna research claims that 42% of born-again Christians are obedient to this command and share their faith. 58% are disobedient. Why not make up your mind even if no one else does. You will by His grace give your life to live for His Kingdom. You make the choice to accept His command. #2 Place yourself at His disposal. (Isaiah 6:8 – “Here I am send me.”) Many times, the great command has been strongly linked with missions - like to go to China or Africa. We think it's meant for others. Matthew 28:19 (Amp) – Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, What is the calling for every child of God? “Nothing less than to make every man a true disciple – living in Holy obedience to all of Christ's will”. So many Christians are always waiting to be spoon fed and never realize that they are called to make disciples. Let God know He can have you completely. You are a student in the school of obedience. Study the great command. Accept it with your whole heart and place yourself at His disposal. #3 Begin at once to act on your obedience. In whatever circumstance you find yourself, it is your privilege to have within reach souls that can be won for God. Andrew Murray The day you got saved, you were called into service. 2 Timothy 2:4 – No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of (civilian) life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him. God requires of you to boldly and humbly take up your life's calling of helping in the great work of winning back the world to God. Remember these words preceded the command to make disciples… “I am with you always”. Christ's power in heaven and His presence on earth – between these two pillars lies the gate through which the church enters the conquest[oorwinning] of the world. How obedient have you been to the Great Command? Jesus said: Matthew 24:14(NIV) – And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. You may want to recommit your life to the great command. Then pray this prayer with me: Blessed Son of God. Here I am. By your grace, I give my life to the carrying out of your last great command. Let my heart be as your heart. Let my weakness be as your strength. In your name I take a vow of complete and lasting obedience. ****

Ahaz refused to trust God but instead trusted in his own plan. From this we learn: 1) Give Up on Trusting Men- Ahaz didn't want to trust/depend on God- he wanted to depend on Assyria and its visible, strong looking armies. The result was that they turned on him, he was enslaved. This is what happens when we put our ultimate trust in men. 2) Go All in on Trusting Jesus- in spite of Ahaz's faithlessness God still acted for his people ultimately sending his Son as a virgin born baby to rescue and be with his people. He came to be God with us so that we could be with God forever.

"I remember this conversation that I had with my friends that my goal (was) to make $1 a day." ⸺ Kai Andrew Want to learn how to live life on your own terms? Our guest on this week's episode of The Videocraft Show Presented by Video Husky can show you how. Kai Andrew is a YouTube creator who teaches viewers how to make the most out of their 20s and 30s so they don't have to work until they're 65. At 27, Kai left behind a lucrative career that earned him $200,000 a year at its peak. He was able to walk away thanks to a frugal lifestyle spent saving and investing most of his income in his 20s. Some of Kai's most popular videos detail his experiences in real estate investing. Kai is a self-taught investor and developer, who built his own shipping container home without a builder and a mortgage. Aside from YouTube, he spends most of his time growing his property management and consulting business as well as hitting the waves with his surfboard. In this episode, you'll learn about... The importance of being resourceful and how he learned this growing up as the son of Vietnamese refugees. The books that have impacted how he thinks and approaches life. How a curiosity around building houses kick-started his journey as a YouTuber. How Kai runs an online community on Discord for his YouTube viewers. His definition of YouTube success. And much more... If you're a content creator, we know how time-consuming and tedious it is to edit your own videos. That's why Video Husky provides unlimited editing at a flat monthly rate. It's definitely tricky - just trying to keep it exciting for yourself and for everyone else…" ⸺ Andrew Hales Viewers all over the world know this week's guest as the “King of Awkward”. But there's much more to Andrew Hales than that. Andrew is the creator behind the long-running YouTube channel LAHWF. The name of his channel is an acronym for the phrase Losing All Hope Was Freedom, which many of you might know from the movie Fight Club. Andrew started his YouTube career in 2012, rising to internet fame thanks to his hidden camera experiments that went viral. He racked up millions of views by filming videos featuring himself and strangers in awkward social situations. In 2017, Andrew began filming the “Chatting With” series, which features conversations with a diverse lineup of guests. Past interviewees include fellow YouTube personalities such as Graham Stephan, an expert on narcissism, and even an ex-convict, too. Aside from pranks and interviews, Andrew's tried his hand at scripted content and he's even given vlogging a go, too. At the moment, Andrew is focusing most of his efforts on creating vlogs of his day-to-day life while he and his girlfriend vagabond around America for the next few months. In this episode of The Videocraft Show Presented By Video Husky, Jon Santiago talks with Andrew about: Tim Ferriss's influence on Andrew and what it was like to collaborate with him. The era of creating prank videos on YouTube. How he conducts interviews for his Chatting With series. Creating content you like versus creating content the audience likes. The advice he would give his younger self about becoming a YouTuber. And much more... If you're a content creator, we know how time-consuming and tedious it is to edit your own videos. That's why Video Husky provides unlimited editing at a flat monthly rate. Just send us your footage plus instructions of what you want and you'll get the first draft of your video in 1-2 business days. Guaranteed. Intrigued? Visit https://www.videohusky.com/pricing/. One of R&B music's most beloved and consistently popular vocal groups, The Whispers, began their legendary and timeless career in 1963. Twin brothers Walter and Wallace Scott joined with friends Nicholas Caldwell, Marcus Hutson, and Gordy Harmon to form a local singing group. They perfected their tight harmonies on the street corners in the Watts section of Los Angeles and in nightclubs in the in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area. They began singing together as "the Eden trio" created by Nicholas Caldwell and Marcus Hutson. Later, they were renamed "The Whispers" by Lou Bedell of Dore Records. The group recorded nine singles for the Dore label between 1964 and 1967. Their fame grew in the Bay Area while performing in a series of what was known as "The Battle of the Bands" where they competed against other local acts for their fans appreciation and affection. In 1969 they released "The Time Will Come" for a small L.A. based label Soul Clock Records, and subsequently recorded their first Top 10 R&B hit, "Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong," in 1970 when the group switched to Janus Records. By 1971 Gordy Harmon decided to leave the group and was replaced by Leaveil Degree who had previously sung with "The Friends of Distinction". The Whispers produced a string of hits over the next two decades and emerged as the leading romantic singers of their generation, racking up one gold album after another and charting numerous R&B hits throughout the seventies and eighties. The Whispers were the first artists featured on the newly formed Soul Train label (co- owned by the TV show's creator and host Don Cornelius and entrepreneur Dick Griffey). They gained national attention with their seventies albums, "One For The Money", "Open Up Your Love", and "Headlights" producing two singles that graced Billboard's Top 20 R&B Charts: "(Let's Go) All the Way" and "(Olivia) Lost and Turned Out". Their first platinum album "The Whispers" (1980) highlighted "A Song For Donny," a song written by Carrie Lucas in memory of Donny Hathaway, and their biggest hit "And The Beat Goes On." It was their most successful selling album (double platinum). The neoclassic "Lady," written by group member Nicholas Caldwell, is still a favorite at concerts. 1987's "Just Gets Better with Time", went platinum. It featured the R&B number 1 and US Top 10 pop entry "Rock Steady", a collaboration with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. Their vocal style harkens back to a more genteel era of crooning, preferring soft pillow talk and songs that speak to heartfelt emotions. They are arguably the most celebrated R&B balladeers of their generation and still make women swoon with their silky yet forceful tenors of twins Walter and Scotty. In the 1990s, The Whispers joined the Capitol Records family releasing more favorites. Expanding their creative horizons, brothers Walter and Scotty cut "My Brothers Keeper", a critically acclaimed duet album in 1993, scoring another R&B hit with a cover of the Intruders' "I Wanna Know Your Name." "Toast to the Ladies" released in 1995 featured a collection of love songs dedicated to women all overthe world. In 1997 the group moved to Interscope Records where they featured the works of Babyface once again with their album, "Songbook, Vol. 1: The Songs of Babyface". Marcus stopped performing with the group in 1989 due to ill health, and in 2000, when he passed on, the Whispers vowed never to replace him. In the new millennium the group still performs around the world to thousands of loyal fans. The group has not made any personnel changes and still consists of Walter Scott, Wallace Scott, Nicholas Caldwell, and Leaveil Degree. They have taken Las Vegas by storm, selling out in various casinos and hotels, and they have a tremendous following on the West and East coasts, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, St. Louis, Indiana, and Chicago. On September 23, 2003, The Whispers' four decades of accomplishments were acknowledged when Charlie Thomas of the Drifters inducted them into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. On June 12, 2005, The San Francisco Chapter of the Grammy Awards presented the Whispers with the prestigious Governors Award, the highest honor bestowed by an Academy Chapter. They continue to perform to sell-out crowds all over the world, and their popularity continues to grow among youth whose parents "raised" them on the Whispers' music. They are one of only a few "old School" groups that can boast of having over 40 years in the industry with a worldwide fan base, maintaining their vocal dominance and original members. Tosh and Kimley discuss “Go All the Way: A Literary Appreciation of Power Pop” by Paul Myers and S. W. Lauden. This compilation of short essays by a wide range of writers (including Michael Chabon and Allison Anders among others) explores the minutiae of what constitutes power pop exactly, whether or not it is even desirable to be lumped into this subgenre and which bands are considered power pop, with bands like Bad Finger, The Raspberries, Big Star, and Cheap Trick generally being considered the prototypes. Despite its effervescent appeal, fans of power pop are deadly serious about its nuances. Both celebrated and maligned, power pop is a nebulous genre and after reading this book things still seem murky to us. But like Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart pronounced in an attempt to define porn, we know it when we see it! Theme music: "Behind Our Efforts, Let There Be Found Our Efforts" by LG17

Episode 1058: If You Start, Go All the Way by Steve Kamb of Nerd Fitness on How to Commit To Your Big Goals & Health Discipline Steve Kamb started exercising back in high school without really knowing what he was doing. Through high school and college, he made every training mistake known to man and got zero results. It wasn’t until he graduated college and learned the right way to train that he started to see positive changes. He's a nerd, but likes fitness… so why not combine the two and turn life into one giant video game? And thus, in the fall of 2009, NerdFitness.com was born! Matthew 9:35 -10:8Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness. When he saw the crowds he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother, Andrew; James, son of Zebedee, and his brother, John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You have received without payment; give without payment. Some of you know – and have asked me about – my time in downtown Indy the last couple of weekends, participating in the peaceful protests for racial justice that have been such a large part of our nation’s life since George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis a few weeks ago. (Notice I said “peaceful protests,” not riots, there’s a distinct and meaningful difference.) Some of what I witnessed at these protests was new to me, in so many ways; and surprising; and worth sharing. I saw lots of signs, of course, and heard all the chants – some so clever they were funny. Some so full of rage, they were unsettling, at times.I saw people carrying gallons of milk on a hot summer day, in case they needed it to wash away the pepper spray or tear gas that are a distinct possibility and a common occurrence when the sun goes down on a protest, as you know.I saw white civilians dressed in camouflage, with automatic weapons strapped across their chests.I was wearing my funny shirt with the clerical collar, which makes many people assume I’m a priest. One guy said, “You don’t see many Catholic priests at these things, Father.” I said, “I’m a Lutheran.” He said, “That makes more sense.” (I took that as a compliment.) I saw police officers doing their job – minding the crowd, even greeting and talking with protesters. I went out of my way to acknowledge them a time or two and they returned the favor. I can’t imagine the fortitude and sense of vocation it takes for the good ones to do their job these days.I saw one white man trying to instigate a group of black protesters, throwing a water bottle at them, trading insults, and calling them a bunch of “N” words.I watched organizers pass around Sharpie markers and sharing the phone number we were instructed to write on our bodies in two different places, should we get arrested and need to be bailed out, if things went sideways or got ugly.I was even ritually “smudged” with sage smoke from a protester who was performing the ritual as an offering of protection and cleansing for those who had gathered. So when I read, in this morning’s Gospel, that when Jesus looked at the crowds back in Galilee, he had compassion for them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd, I thought about the crowds that gather for protests like the ones taking place these days in our own country and around the world. “…harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd…”I’m not sure why it’s happening now. I’m not sure why these particular deaths – George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Dreasjon Reed, and Ahmaud Arbery, I mean – seem to have sparked an outrage – if not a revolution – that the deaths of Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Philando Castille, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Michael Brown, Freddie Gray, Laquan McDonald, Botham Jean, Latasha Harlins, Amadou Diallo, and Emmett Till weren’t able to instigate. I’m not sure what’s different this time around and after so many years. And, sadly, I’m not at all convinced that the change so many of us long for is really going to come as soon or as fully as we would like. But, people of color – especially Black and Indigenous people – in this country, are telling us – and have been telling us for generations – that they indeed feel and have felt harassed and helpless for so long in so many ways. And as followers of Jesus, we are called to be moved – like Jesus was – with compassion for them. And the hard, holy news today is that immediately after his compassion is stirred, Jesus calls upon his disciples to do something about it, acknowledging that the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. There was, there is, there always will be so much work to do, and too often not as many people willing or able or inspired enough to do the heavy lifting. But for those who are ready and willing, Jesus gives the authority to do some amazing things: to cast out demons and to cure every disease and every sickness. And I would contend that the demons and the dis-ease and the sicknesses that need casting out and curing in this day and age, include but are not limited to the likes of prejudice, bigotry, white supremacy, and racism. And yes, I’m talking about George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, and the many others on that list. But I’m talking about things closer to home, too. Like the fact that within the last three years a Black boy at one of our schools was told to go drink from another drinking fountain. Or the fact that my children, and many of yours, have never had a Black teacher. (And neither did I, for that matter, in 20 years of public school, undergraduate university, and seminary education.) And I’m talking about the fact that zero Black people call Cross of Grace Lutheran Church their home. And that one member of our congregation told me once, not long ago, standing in our narthex, without shame, that he called the cops on a young Black man driving through his neighborhood, because “he clearly didn’t belong there.”And as terrifying and as disgusting and as frustrating and as embarrassing as those examples are to share, I find some hope for all of this in today’s Gospel – because of what we heard in last week’s Gospel. See, I listened differently last week to that little ditty we heard from the end of Matthew, Chapter 28, when Jesus said, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always to the end of the age.” “Go…” “All nations.” “…everything I have commanded you.” “Always…to the end of the age.”But at times like this, I am overwhelmed by the scope of that, I have to admit – what we call our “great commission.” It’s all so much, so daunting, and more than I feel ready for or capable of on a lot of days, to be honest. But I am reminded to be relieved, some, by this morning’s Gospel story – earlier in Matthew’s Gospel, Chapters 9 and 10 – where Jesus, in the midst of traveling around his own little neck of the woods in Galilee, calls his disciples together to set them about their mission in the world. Because when Jesus sends the disciples to “the lost sheep of the House of Israel,” as he says it this morning, he’s sending them to share the message and the story and the hard, holy good news of it all with the Jews – with their own people – people they know, people they love perhaps, or at least people they could relate to. “Gather with the ones you know,” he seems to be saying. “Keep it in the family, for now.” “Talk to your own people – friends and family, folks from your own synagogue, in your own neighborhoods, from your own cities and villages and towns. We’ll get to the nations later – somewhere in chapter 28.”And I don’t mean for this to be a cop out. It’s not a sneaky way to suggest we not reach out to people who are different from us. This isn’t me – or Jesus – saying God’s good news is just for people who sound and smell or live or look like me. I am in no way suggesting we limit the scope of our outreach to what is familiar and comfortable and close to home. I’m acknowledging that it all matters, for sure, but that maybe our first steps these days – however small – are meant to lead to something more down the road. Because, the story we are sharing is one of good news and of hope and of grace for all people. The Gospel we are called to tell about is a Gospel meant for the nations, for sure. “Red and Yellow, Black and White, they are precious in his sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.” There is no denying that. But when it comes to casting out and curing the sins and the sickness of racism and white supremacy and prejudice and bigotry, this is white people’s work. We need to get our own house in order before we can reach the nations, as God intends. This work is for you and me to do for ourselves, with each other, and for the sake of the world. This work is for those of us – myself included – who are blind to and who benefit so much from the systems of inequality that run the world around us.And I know there are plenty who wish I would get off of this soap box. Some of you have told me as much. And I’m sorry, but not so sorry about that right now. There’s a difference between a soap box and a pulpit. And when I stop collecting examples of blatant racism and bigotry from my own, everyday life – or from the lives of my children – in this community and in this congregation and from the church-at-large, I might feel compelled to slow my roll a bit. But the harvest is plentiful. There his so much work to be done. And please hear me when I say I’m learning along the way myself, in more ways than I wish I still need to learn. Which is where I’d like to invite you to join me today – and in the days ahead. Several of you have joined me in Race Relations Dialogue Circles around here over the course of the last few years. (I’m more than a little proud to say it didn’t take a televised lynching to inspire that work for our congregation.) But I would like to broaden the scope of those conversations and of that learning sooner, rather than later, in light of current events. So, in the next couple of weeks I will be inviting us to read some books, watch some documentaries, listen to some podcasts and, of course, to have some conversation and prayer about how we might respond to Jesus’ invitation to love one another, to cast out the evil of racism, to cure the sickness of bigotry, to heal the dis-ease of injustice that plagues our black and brown sisters and brothers and should therefore feel like a plague upon us, just the same. And just like those first disciples were sent, first, to their friends, families, and neighbors with the work Jesus called them to, I hope we will start with what and who we know. Let’s start in our kitchens. Let’s begin in our living rooms. Start something in your son’s car or your daughter’s bedroom. Begin at your own front door – at your office – on your neighbor’s porch. There are people all around us – acquaintances and the best of friends – who have something to learn from and to teach each of us in all of this. That’s what this morning’s Gospel is about for me this time around – doing the work of the Gospel for and with neighbors, family and friends – nothing more and nothing less. Today, Jesus isn’t sending us to the nations just yet. Today, Jesus is calling us to each other – to those we know and to those who know us. “Baby steps,” he seems to be saying, “if that’s still what it takes to begin.” “Share a little bit of yourself. Share a little bit about whatever you know or need to learn with the people close to you, and let’s just see if – finally… finally… finally – where the work of ending racism in our midst is concerned – the good news of great joy and justice and grace for all people will change the world as God intends.” Amen

Point: We will spend almost half of our lives either at work or in school. Jesus called us to "GO… All the time" We are not merely educated and employed, but rather - CALLED to GO. Scripture: Matt. 22:37-40; Colossians 3:22-25; Matt. 5:13-16 Questions: 1. Why do we look at places we find ourselves (work, school, etc.) as places we just need to go and BE, rather than a mission field? 2. What does it mean to be “called?” What does it look like to be called vs. employed? 3. Why should a Christian be the best employee on the job? 4. Why is the work place one of the hardest places to be a Christian? 5. Read Matt. 22:37-40. What is a practical 1st step YOU can take to LOVE GOD and LOVE OTHERS while “going” into your workplace or school?

Go All in.

Neil Patel is a Seattle, Washington-based entrepreneur, angel investor, and analytics expert. He is best known for his work in digital marketing, and as the cofounder of the analytics companies KISSmetrics, Crazy Egg, and Quick Sprout Favorite Success Quote “When things are looking good, always remember that someone else out there always has it better than you. And when things are going badly for you, remember someone has it worse” Key Points 1. Do Not Operate from Emotion One of the biggest mistake that people, especially entrepreneurs, make is that they operate from emotion and not logic. Like the opening success quote, it is important that you always remember that someone out there has it better and is kicking your butt at business, but someone out there also always has it worse and the failures you are facing are not life changing. Stay grounded as a man in your decision making. Always take some time and breathe whenever you feel overwhelmed and simply think through the situation logically. (Something Andrew and many guests have suggested for controlling your emotions are cold showers and meditation.) 2. When You Are Young You Have Nothing to Lose So often, young people allow fear to stop them from taking action without realizing one simple fact…. you have nothing to lose. When you are a young single guy, without a mortgage, car payments, or child support to pay, you are free. So start your business. The best thing that can happen is that you succeed and make millions, the likely outcome is that you will make some money but it won’t be your big break, the worst thing is that you learn. Is learning really that bad? 3. Keep Making Mistakes and Keep Learning No matter where you are in business, always be learning. Look at every “failure” as an opportunity instead of a mistake. Each time that something doesn’t work or turn out how you want it to, you have the choice to decide to analyze the opportunity and learn from it. And remember, the more you learn, the more you earn. 4. Business is a Game; Play a Game You Enjoy No matter what business you are in, it is all a game. A game that you should be playing to win, but a game no less. Be sure that you are playing a game that you enjoy. If you are in a business that you don’t enjoy, you are setting yourself up for failure before you begin. Succeeding in life and business is hard, it’s significantly harder if you aren’t passionate about working ridiculous hours, staying up late, waking up early, and making sacrifices. 5. Focus on One Idea and Go All or Nothing When you are first starting out in entrepreneurship, it’s very easy to get sucked into a million different projects and gigs without focusing on one to master. Find something that you enjoy and freaking crush it! Go after it with everything you have got, get laser focused and devote everything you can to it. Then, and only then will you truly succeed.
The best thing that can happen is that you succeed and make millions, the likely outcome is that you will make some money but it won't be your big break, the worst thing is that you learn. Is learning really that bad? 3. Keep Making Mistakes and Keep Learning No matter where you are in business, always be learning. Look at every “failure” as an opportunity instead of a mistake. Each time that something doesn't work or turn out how you want it to, you have the choice to decide to analyze the opportunity and learn from it. And remember, the more you learn, the more you earn. 4. Business is a Game; Play a Game You Enjoy No matter what business you are in, it is all a game. A game that you should be playing to win, but a game no less. Be sure that you are playing a game that you enjoy. If you are in a business that you don't enjoy, you are setting yourself up for failure before you begin. Succeeding in life and business is hard, it's significantly harder if you aren't passionate about working ridiculous hours, staying up late, waking up early, and making sacrifices. 5. Focus on One Idea and Go All or Nothing When you are first starting out in entrepreneurship, it's very easy to get sucked into a million different projects and gigs without focusing on one to master. Find something that you enjoy and freaking crush it! Go after it with everything you have got, get laser focused and devote everything you can to it. Then, and only then will you truly succeed.

Bizzar by Insane Clown Posse. ICP's 2000 album Bizzar is a return to form, but better! This is their best one so far, which makes it really fun to talk about. But for some reason, Cameron and Nathan still stall and digress into such topics as Amy Grant's slay rides, Digimon (digital monsters), and Archie's full-throated complaint that "JUGHEAD ATE ALL MY PIZZA." It's a real wild—wicked wild—romp that'll have you saying, "wicked clowns never die!" Whoop, whoop, indeed. Listen along to Bizzar on Spotify here. For a duo with a hit as big as "Let's Go All The Way" was in 1986, there should be more to the Sly Fox story than there is. Brought together in an almost "boy band" fashion, Michael Camacho and Gary "Mudbone" Cooper only managed one album that featured one giant hit (#7 in 1986) and that was all she wrote. To this day, their one album, also titled Let's Go All the Way, has never been released on cd. This week Michael tells us how the band came together, what that brief moment in the spotlight was like, and what he's been doing since, which includes his solo jazz album Just For You from 2006. https://www.facebook.com/michael.f.camacho/
Out of Cleveland Ohio came Raspberries. Led by Eric Carmen, they scored a monster hit in 1972 with “Go All the Way.” Carmen guided the band through four studio albums before embarking on a successful solo career in the mid Seventies, scoring hits like “All By Myself” and “Hungry Eyes,” and writing hits for other people, including “Almost Paradise” for Ann Wilson & Mike Reno. Finally, in 2004, the four original Raspberries reunited to commemorate the grand opening of the House of Blues in Cleveland. Now, that historic night has been made public, with the release of Pop Art Live, a 2-CD live set featuring 28 songs - everything the band played that historic first night, made available through Omnivore Recordings. We chat with Carmen about putting that reunion together, and why this recording sounds so much better than ones released before. Plus, he talks about the Raspberries' hit "Go All the Way" being included on the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.

I have to start the show notes out with something that has become glaringly apparent to me and yes, I know it seems obvious, but there is such a difference between "getting something" and "understanding something". The more I write and engage the easier it gets. I can't seem to write a post that is less than 1000 words! Whaaaaat? (this is one of my favorite new sayings, which I stole from Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in the movie "The Internship", which isn't an academy award winning movie but was a fun, enjoyable afternoon at the movies with my son). I'm not even kind of complaining... I'm having a ball! BUT... bom bom bom.... of course now I start seeing posts about how shorter posts are better (think post formats, which if you're not sure what they are I've got a post and video coming soon), and how single author blogs are dead. REALLY? Oy vey. I don't think so. There will always be trends, "new fangled fancy pants" ways of doing things but at the end of the day providing quality content will always work. Period. End of story. Full stop. (can't believe I used the statement 'new fangled'...) By the comments I'm receiving on these lengthy posts I'm not too worried. I'm receiving more comments than I ever have before and am building some amazing new relationships! So do yourself a favor... go ahead and read the latest and greatest news about what's working online, take it all and and then see what sticks! Think of it like panning for gold (I've actually done this! My parents live about an hour east of the Sierra Mountains, so we've actually panned for gold in 'them thar hills'... what is up with my lingo today?). When you pan for gold you scoop a bunch of of 'stuff' out of the river, but then you clear through all the crap to find the gold. You may only find a tiny nugget, but that tiny nugget is worth far more than a HUGE bucket of pebbles, rocks and sand (or whatever else you may find in the river). [sws_divider_basic] The Best Advice I've Ever Received Kind of a bold claim, I know. Of course when I had this 'nudge' to share this as the best advice I've ever received it felt like "BAM!" That's powerful! Now as I write this I'm thinking, "hmm... is this the BEST advice I've ever received?" Aah... my sidekick, the 'overthinker' has shown up. I'll push my sidekick aside and leave this as is, because no matter what you're doing, what area of your life you apply this to, it's going to pay off. I live by the saying that "you don't regret the things you do, you only regret the things you don't do." The best advice I ever received was actually in reference to my past relationship (promise I won't go all Dr. Phil on you here, not how I roll. Wayne Dyer yes, Dr. Phil, no). It was in the first couple of months of the relationship (you know, the 'honeymoon' phase) and I was on cloud 9. I was talking to my therapist about it (well, giggling like a school girl is more like it) and here's what she said to me: "Go ALL in Kim!" There was more to the conversation than that, but the overall message was give it all you've got. If it doesn't work out you can at least look back and know you gave it everything and savored every moment. Of course she was right. It didn't end the way I had hoped it would, but I have no regrets. 90 percent of the time it was great. And like most things that end (relationships, friendships, businesses...whatever), I can see now that there is no way I could have spent my life with him, but I know without a doubt that I went ALL in! This is a question you need to ask yourself about your business. Are you going 'ALL' in or are you playing at your business? How to determine if you're ALL in Here's the thing. This is going to look different for each person, so there isn't really a system or task list that will help you determine if you're going all in. You're the only one who can determine that. But YOU know on a gut level if you're going "ALL in" or if you'...
Guitarist Wally Bryson was a member of the Raspberries who had an enduring hit with “Go All the Way.” The band released four albums in the early Seventies before breaking up in 1975. Those records are now regarded as early examples of “power pop,” mixing the melodic sense of the Beatles, the intensity of the Who, and the summery harmonies of the Beach Boys. His son, Jesse Bryson, has forged a music career all his own, showcasing his excellent singing with a knack for writing hook-laden melodies. The father / son duo have teamed up to form the Bryson Group. Icon Fetch talks to them about both of their unique musical paths, and also the impact that John Lennon had on both of their careers.

Given that you said the hunting is messy (no clean puncture wounds), I’m assuming that they get dirty… or at least bloody. So do they take showers? Do they comb their hair? Brush their teeth?A: Vampires do shower, but they don’t get dirty the same way we do. Outside dirt, yes–blood and mud and whatnot (though most vampires don’t get a spot on themselves when they eat–its all a matter of practice), but not sweat or body oils. They would never have B.O., ha ha. One girl asked me why Alice had a bathroom and if vampires have to pee. No, they don’t (they use all the blood, creating no waste), but they do shower. (And of course they have to have bathrooms–houses are just built that way, and when they want to move, it would look a little weird on the real estate listing: eight bedrooms, no baths.)They do wash the dust and rain out of their hair, too. And Rosalie particularly spends a lot of time doing hers. (Hair is dead cells–the vampire transformation doesn’t affect it. If you’ve got split ends, sorry! Not getting better.
