We're truly doing the Devil's work today, with PsydeShow leading the way! This week, we're covering Matthew Holness' utterly disturbing (and very heady) 2018 psychological drama, Possum. The plot follows an (apparently) disgraced puppeteer who returns to his childhood home to quite literally stare the spindly horrors of his past in the face. In all fairness, it's a bit difficult to describe this film with words, it's like “Bad Vibes: The Movie”, but we're going to do our best. We're excited and honored to have our very first musical guest along for this twisted little ride, Jack Murray, lead singer of 156/Silence! Jack Murray has imbued Texas with his big Irish energy. With an energetic personality, partially fueled by Red Bull sales in Ireland, Jack has helped shed light on the category of Irish whiskey. As the point person for Tully in Texas, he created staple cocktails, shots, and a mainstay for Irish whiskey behind most Austin bars. COVID shifted his gears and led to some interesting situations as an Irish person with limited status as a citizen in the US. But now, he's back with a new brand and a new sense of purpose. Lost Irish is a beautiful whiskey that blends many global barrel components. From wine to sherry to rum, the resulting flavor is massive and a perfect entry into Irish whiskey. Jack and I chat about smiles, love, loss, and the world around us.

Investing in real estate among younger adults is the best head start in building wealth.   A more flexible lifestyle. Control of your time. Investing in your mind. Adding assets.   Today’s episode of the Expert(ish) Podcast is a conversation on how to start a real estate journey in a smart way, how having little sacrifices in the present reap great benefits in the future, and why getting help from the right people is the best option in learning the trade.   Our guest, Jack Murray, is a 19-year old United States Marine. Seeing things from a future perspective, Jack has worked his way out to take advantage of his financial resources for more meaningful purposes. Though he often went through a lot of backlash from peers, fellow Marines and a sense of doubt from his family in achieving his goal, his laser-focused intention of creating a passive income made his way to purchasing his first property. Samantha Echo is a singing, songwriting fairy/abomination who was allegedly called into existence as the bastard child of an acid-induced one-night-stand between Leonard Cohen and one of the Disney Princesses (it probably happened at the Chelsea Hotel). She and her music have been described as "somewhere between dangerous and whimsy" (Jack Murray, Unknown Nobodies), meaning that she has fairy wings and a non-threatening babyface but she sings about horrible things; "Dark Fairy Rock" (Jamie Ignao), "Comic Con's Kate Bush" (Janna Pelle), meaning that she has a very high, girly soprano voice and is almost too nerdy to function; and a female incarnation of Morrissey (Siv Disa), meaning that her lyrics will depress you but in a good way. His journey started with a Tony Robbins event so have a listen through to listen to his exciting story, background and insights! Noteworthy questions: Why start with life first and then business? (10:42) What has been your biggest challenge in the marketplace and how did you overcome it? (19:04) Is their value in mentorship for someone who wants to grow? (22:35) What is the best way to stretch our thinking? (24:38) What is a spiritual contract? (29:20) How do you break through fear and use it to our advantage? (38:41) Key takeaways Curiosity is the start of the process when finding your passion. The reason you care what other people think is because you are misaligned. Those who are finding incongruencies in you are actually just finding incongruencies in themselves. We just act as mirrors. The toughest challenge is being able to be you and not listen to everyone else. You should never put a mentor on a pedestal, they are human just like you. When it comes to media, marketing and journalism, Media HQ CEO Jack Murray has done and seen it all. A former political advisor and government spokesperson, he has been in the room as some of the biggest Irish political scandals of the last two decades have gone down. Many senior politicians have wisely acted on his advice, and many more have lived to regret not doing so. His Media HQ business is now the leading publisher of media intelligence in Ireland and the biggest organiser of media training events, and he offers PR and media training for all manner of companies, brands and NGOs at all levels. (He's also the best writer of press releases that I know, but that's beside the point). I spoke to Jack about crisis communication and asked him who do politicians turn to when it all goes wrong, what "The Golden Hour" means in PR terms, and is honesty always - or ever - the best policy when you're fighting for your political life?

We’re going to have a bit of a different one this week, I started working on this podcast idea about 2 years ago, I love podcasts and I love my culture, I know most of you know that and we have so many people with the best of stories so I got it together and recorded some, Jack Murray, Will Robson Scott, Any Gillman, Done London and Jamal Peace, they are the early ones in the series but it took me pretty much a year before I put them out. Anxiety, confidence and making my business and work more important than feeding my soul all came into play and I couldn’t justify spending all the time it’d take to do this. I stored the recordings. Then Jan passed away in late December 2017. I’d known him since the 90’s, properly. It hit hard. The funeral was a few weeks later and I went with my friend and fellow NW6er Sam. It was great to see all these people come to pay respects to Jan. A tearful and yet joyous event full of stories, memories, laughs and tears. He touched a crazy amount of people, we walked his coffin down Kilburn High Rd. and locked it off there was so many of us. A beautiful but sad day. Pretty soon after the funeral, I decided I was going to do these interviews and get this podcast going and I did. I had wanted Jan round to chat, I should have had him round in 2017, but life is what it is and at the time I wasn’t sure I was going to do the podcast at all. Him going let me know I needed to do this, he did everything he put his mind too and so I was going to do the same. About 2 -3 weeks after the funeral I had around that time, heard the final Combat Jack podcast, one I’d been listening to for 7 odd years, Combat had passed from Cancer and Dallas Penn, A King, Premium Pete, Just Blaze, Ben Haeremeen, and a couple other of his colleagues and friends got together to talk about Combat, his accomplishments, his life and work, I thought that’d be great for Jan, bringing us to this week which is a special episode as we have a glimpse into Jan’s life through one of his best mates, his crew partner, his travelling companion, festival goer and party starter, Jack. We recorded it early July and it was tough, especially on Jack but we told stories, had laughs and remembered our friend. This is some of Jan’s London, Culture and Creativity story. Enjoy, this is F24.

How does the 1960s social setting manifest in the monsters? How similar is our current social setting? How does it manifest in the monsters? Are they zombies or ghouls? How do we feel about the representation of race in this film? Are we all drinking wine right now, though? How do we feel about each host’s segue technique? Why does Mary Kay hate Mr. Cooper? How do we feel about Barbara? Why does she survive? Is she a good introduction to the zeitgeist of What’s the real terror in a zombie apocalypse? Does the 35mm black and white film add anything to the film? What’s the connection between Romero’s zombies and the film adaptation of Frankenstein? (Dead things hate fire.) What does the narrative structure and manipulation of time have to do with building the narrative? What do Aristotle’s three unities have to do with Night of the Living Dead? How is this film’s horror similar to Get Out? Why is our contemporary culture so okay with this particular cultural appropriation? Who among your hosts would die first in a zombie apocalypse?Night of the Living Dead (1968) Written and directed by George Romero. Starring Duane Jones, Judith O'Dea, Karl Hardman. Genre: Horror, thriller, suspense, drama, zombie, ghoulWhile visiting their father's grave, a sister and brother, Barbara and Johnny, are attacked by a strange, disheveled man. Leaving the unconscious Johnny behind, Barbara flees to a nearby farmhouse and discovers a horribly mutilated corpse. Meanwhile, the strange man has been joined by several other ghoulish figures who are trying to help him break into the farmhouse. Suddenly, Ben, a young black salesman also seeking refuge, appears and fights his way past them into the house. While barricading the windows and doors, he explains to Barbara that a mutation resulting from radiation has caused the dead to arise and devour the living. Ben learns from a television report that fire frightens the ghouls and that they can be killed by a bullet or blow to the brain. Barbara and Ben then find that they are not alone in the farmhouse: in the basement are teenaged couple Judy and Tom as well as married couple Helen and Harry and their young daughter, Karen. Unknown to Helen and Harry, Karen has been injured by the ghouls and is slowly acquiring their disease. Ben improvises a plan to help Tom and Judy escape; but they panic and die in a fire and are devoured by the zombies. The ghouls finally burst through the barricades, and Ben accidentally shoots Harry; Barbara is dragged away by her brother Johnny, who has become a ghoul; and Helen is murdered and eaten by her infected daughter. By morning, when the living have succeeded in suppressing the dead, only Ben has survived by barricading himself in the basement of the farmhouse. But he is mistaken for a ghoul and shot through the head when he bursts out to greet a posse sent to destroy the zombies. 4 INFAMOUS & CHILLING KILLERS OF THE 1980's In a time known for big hair, roller skates and metal bands the 1980’s wasn’t all fun and games. It was also an era filled with some of the most notorious and terrifying serial killers to ever exist. These are 4 infamous and chilling killers of the 1980s. 4. Sunset Strip Killers A former Naval Intelligence officer's son, Doug Clark moved all over the world while growing up. After graduating from Culver Military Academy, Clark enlisted in the Air Force but was discharged as it was clear his life was headed somewhere else. He ended up in Los Angeles, moving from job to job often being fired due to his violent temper. In his downtime he would hang out at one of his favorite clubs, Little Nashville. It was a seedy pub that occasionaly played live music and the plce where he met his partner in crime, Carol. Carol M. Bundy grew up with two alcoholic parents. At a young age, her mother died and by 11, her father was sexually abusing her on a regular basis. At 17, she married then later on divorced her first husband who was 40 years her senior. At 37, she became infatuated with her apartment block manager and part time singer, Jack Murray, and would frequent the Little Nashville bar to watch him play. 3. Larry Eyler Born in Indiana in1952 to a dysfunctional household, Larry Eyler grew up suffering abuse from his parents and stepfathers. The abuse was so horrific that the details have been prevented from being released and the state sought to remove him and have him live with relatives instead. As he grew older, Larry joined a monastery but left and ended up working low-paying odd jobs, including one as a house painter. The first time, his name signaled on police radar was when he stabbed an ex-marine who was hitchhiking in town. This marine managed to get away and testified against Eyler. He was paid $2500 for his trouble and Eyler wasn't prosecuted. But two years after this incident, a good amount of bodies began to surface. The first was found on March 22, 1982. Jay Reynolds body was brutally stabbed outside of Lexington, Kentucky. Then on October 3rd, 14-year old Delvoyd Baker's body was discovered 2. Andrei Chikatilo Known as the "Butcher of Rostov," it's no surprise Andrei Chikatilo is considered one of the most prolific and violent killers of the 1980s. Andrei grew up in famine poor Russia. While he was a diligent student, he lacked social skills and had trouble forming relationships with women because he was impotent. After failing to enter Moscow State University, he went into National Service before becoming a telephone engineer. 1. Jose Rodriguez Vega Jose Rodriguez Vega was a serial killer from Santander, Spain. Nicknamed as " El Mataviejas" which translates to (The Old Lady Killer), he killed more than 16 women ages from 60 to 93 and had previously served a sentence for raping 5 younger women. Vega grew up in a highly dysfunctional family. It's suspected his grandfather killed his grandmother- and his dad and brother are alcoholics. Meanwhile, his mother was a dominant and aggressive woman prone to violence. By the time Vega was 8, a 50-year old woman had sexually abused him and after this occurance he would masturbate consistently. At this time, he also noticed he was sexually attracted to So there were 4 INFAMOUS & CHILLING KILLERS OF THE 1980's Murder knows no bounds. Despite these crimes happening decades ago, many of the victims of these killers still remain unidentified or unknown.
