I sat down to chat with incredible serial entrepreneur Luis Scott about his journey from aspiring pro baseball player to having three successful multimillion dollar businesses in different niches. The best part is hearing about all the businesses that DIDN'T succeed... Luis's approach will have you rethinking your definitions of "success" and "failure". Can't-Miss Moments from This Episode:"It makes no sense, let's give it a shot!" - how one simple phrase fueled several of Luis's business endeavors, including a multivitamin company, an online newspaper, and a company focused on increasing corn production. On today's episode we are talking about how you have control over your organizations predictability and how that's a measure of success. Luis Scott prides himself in growth. Whether it's in his personal life or professional life, he is always looking to find the slight edge that will put him ahead of the competition. An avid reader, he reads over 50 books per year on personal development. Luis believes this habit over the last 10 years has positioned him in multiple organizations to double and even triple their revenues. As the managing attorney of the firm, he manages over 150 employees and contractors around the state and has led the firm to be recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of the fastest growing businesses in the State of Georgia.Key Takeaways:Predictability is the Ultimate Peace of Mind: Creating predictability in business operations, especially in finances and outcomes, leads to peace of mind for both individuals and organizations. It ensures that tomorrow is not a guessing game and that essential needs can be met.Grit and Consistency: Achieving long-term predictability requires consistency and perseverance. Dr. Angela Duckworth's concept of "grit" emphasizes the ability to perform monotonous tasks consistently over an extended period without losing enthusiasm.Routine and Intentionality: Establishing a daily routine and adhering to it intentionally can contribute to personal and professional predictability. This routine can include habits like waking up early, regular exercise, and structured workdays.Operational Predictability: Businesses should focus on creating efficient systems, policies, and procedures to maintain operational predictability. Standardization of processes and employee training are essential components.Leadership's Role: Effective leadership is crucial in translating the company's vision and mission throughout all levels of the organization. Leaders should ensure that employees at every level understand and align with the organization's goals to create a cohesive and predictable workforce.Leadership and Intention Matter: Effective leadership and a clear intention are crucial for a company's success. Leadership should prioritize the customer experience and be committed to building great people within the organization.Details Matter: Paying attention to the details can make a significant difference in the success of a business. Neglecting details can lead to negative impacts on the company's reputation and customer experience.Maintain Identity and Differentiation: Companies should maintain their identity and focus on what makes them unique. Trying to compete on multiple fronts without a clear differentiator can lead to confusion and loss of market share.Tribe-Like Culture: Building a strong company culture where employees feel connected and aligned with the company's mission is essential. This sense of belonging and shared purpose can drive the company forward.Long-Term Perspective: Both employees and employers should adopt a long-term perspective. Employees should aim to build expertise and meaning in their careers, and employers should invest in their employees for the long haul, as this can lead to more significant success and growth in the future.Top 3 Takeaways:Leadership is important. And everyone can be a leader. It's just a matter of loving what you do and loving the people you serve. Look for meaning, not just happiness. Companies grow when they dedicate themselves to growing people not just building profits. How to connect with Luis: Website: https://luisscottjr.com/

It creates community!Concentric Circles of Gratitude: First: Find gratitude for yourself.Second: Find gratitude for your team.Third: Find gratitude for your customers.Fourth: Find gratitude for your communities and humanity as a whole. In Closing: Valeria asks, “Are you all in?” If not, it's time to commit to locating your truest self and purpose! QUOTABLE“I've learned to sit back and listen rather than speak; ask and not assume.” (Valeria) “The biggest lesson in asking a question is not asking just to ask it, but asking and waiting to listen to what has to be said.” (Valeria) “It's about creating space for transformation – asking or sharing something that might shift a perspective on life. You need space to process that.” (Chris) “You're going to touch people's ego when you try to teach them something. You're going to have doubt, fear, all these emotions that are very human and normal but that people don't talk about.” (Valeria) “Not all successful people know everything. Not all successful people are without fear or doubt. All of us have it. It's just how well can you manage it and move forward rather than stay stagnant and stuck?” (Valeria) “Not all gratitude given is gratitude heard. Gratitude … can sometimes come across as convenient, selfish or lazy.” (Chris) “The failures and bad moments can be a privilege to experience … (because) what you don't know can start eating away at you.” (Valeria) “Gratitude is just really good for business and it's really good for people. Because, at the end of the day, we aren't profit-making monster machines. We are humans and every human deserves to be loved, heard and valued.” (Chris) LINKS/FURTHER RESOURCES:More about Dr. Gary Chapman's 5 Love Languages can be found here.Learn about mirroring and other communication techniques in Chris Voss's book, "Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It.""The Art of Impossible: A Peak Performance Primer," by Steven Kotler.Learn about how Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) works at this link. ABOUT OUR GUEST:Valeria Torres is the Director of Operations and Business Portfolio Consultant for 8 Figure Firm. Luis Scott is a highly respected attorney and consultant with over 20 years of experience in the legal industry. As the owner of Bader Scott Injury Lawyers and 8-Figure Firm Consulting, Luis specializes in helping legal professionals optimize and grow their practices. He has been recognized by various legal organizations for his outstanding contributions to the industry and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. As a former managing partner of a successful law firm with almost 200 employees, Luis understands the challenges legal professionals face in growing their practices. He shares his insights and strategies for optimizing legal practice and achieving long-term success. Whether you're a seasoned attorney or just starting out, you won't want to miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best in the business. Originally from Puerto Rico, Luis played baseball at the University of West Georgia before attending law school. However, his desired professional career in baseball fell apart due to injuries, prompting him to pursue a legal career. With a desire to be an entrepreneur and operate a law firm, he entered the field of personal injury and workers' compensation law. After working at a firm for about 15 years, he started his own firm before merging with his current business partner.Luis has always had a passion for teaching, but when he discovered that teachers' salaries would not support his financial goals, he pursued a career in law. However, his love for teaching never faded, and he eventually found a way to combine his law knowledge and his desire to educate others. He wrote books and founded the business "Eight Figure Firm Consulting," which provides guidance and strategies for law firms looking to scale their businesses. Luis has worked with 90 law firms in just two and a half years, representing $250 million in revenue. His passion for teaching has allowed him to create "light bulb" moments for his clients and help them achieve their business goals.Delivering great legal service is only part of the equation as Luis places great importance on customer service and believes it makes up 90% of the legal industry. He emphasizes the significance of the pre-engagement glide path and how it can impact a law firm's success in bringing in new clients. Many firms do not understand the significance of this initial interaction, and Luis believes that by excelling in customer service, it becomes easier to manage the legal aspect of the business. He notes that law firms tend to be late adopters regarding technology, processes, leadership, and new innovations. This can lead to smaller businesses operating more efficiently than larger law firms that generate millions in revenue but lack established policies and procedures. Law firms need to be more open to change and innovation in order to keep up with the evolving landscape of the legal industry.Transitioning from being a lawyer to a law firm owner requires an entrepreneurial mindset. It's not just about working harder, but also about being disciplined and implementing strategies that lead to growth. The speed of growth is tied to the speed of implementation, and successful business owners know how to organize people to deliver their services or products. This is the great separator between small and big businesses. To be successful, one must transition from being a great service provider to being a great owner who can develop and implement systems. There are three primary ways to learn and develop new skills: mentorship, listening to educational content, and reading for skill development. Mentorship is critical to any success, and having a coach is just as important as going to the gym. However, finding a mentor can be challenging as they are very successful and busy. In this case, reading books by successful people in your industry can be an excellent alternative to getting mentorship. Listening to...
