There is speculation today that the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will become Chancellor when the incoming Prime Minister Andy Burnham announces his Cabinet on Monday. Whoever takes on the role will face quite the in-tray: high debt, low growth, welfare reform, defence spending, and the economic fallout from the US-Israel war with Iran, to name a few issues. So, if it's Shabana Mahmood, how might she fare and what do we know about her? Anita Rani speaks to Lucy Fisher, Whitehall Editor of the Financial Times and Host of the FT's Political Fix podcast.Australian surf and fashion photographer Cait Miers says that on shoots women often criticise and apologise for their looks before a single photo is taken. She is now photographing 1,000 women globally, bare-faced, for a project she has called Laugh Lines. Anita is joined by Cait to talk about her mission to challenge beauty standards and also by Alexis Zahner, author of Real: Reconnecting to Yourself in a World of Likes and Lies, and one of the first women to be photographed for the project.Dr Suzanne Huurman is the only woman to head a country's medical staff in the men's 2026 FIFA World Cup, meaning there is just one woman and 47 men in the lead role for the teams taking part this year. Anita talks to Suzanne about being a trailblazer, how she - as head of medical staff for Curacao's national men's side - got to become only the third-ever female team doctor in the 96-year history of the tournament and what she thinks could be done to increase female representation in football. The Young British Artists, YBA movement of the 1990s is the inspiration for a new novel, Exhibition, by Alex Hyde. The protagonist, Rabble, an aspiring photographer, finds herself in the YBA scene after meeting an artist always referred to in the novel as “you”. Anita talks to Alex about how, through Rabble, her novel explores the inspiration and process of creating art - and the question of ownership, referencing real works.Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Rebecca Myatt

Fan Mail: Tell Wendy how you're saying yes to yourself! In this episode, Wendy sits down with Dawn Pfingsten, a beauty and skincare creator who's spent the last decade on social media, and learned that perfectionism is the cage keeping women stuck as a result. Raised in the South with the conditioning to "look good before volleyball practice," she gradually dismantled that cage by showing up authentically: sweaty walks on camera, no-makeup days, real life. But the real story isn't about skincare. It's about seasons. They explore:How perfectionism shifts as you age: in your 20s you judge, but in your 40s and 50s, you assume good intent and give people the benefit of the doubtLife has seasons, not failures: parenting phases, empty nests, marriage evolution aren't bad, they're just different, and you get to choose if you'll find good in the next phaseThe power of following what feels right over what's shiny: roadblocks often mean "this way," and sometimes you have to try something to know if it's not for youWhen her kids started growing up and moving out, Dawn made a choice: intentionally find good in this next chapter or spend 40 years miserable. So she moved to a farmhouse, started raising sheep, and traded her dresses for Target jeans, because she realized she still has so much more life left.Connect with Dawn:Instagram: instagram.com/justdoingmybestFacebook: facebook.com/justdoingmybestYouTube: youtube.com/justdoingmybestReferenced in this Episode:Naturium.com________________________________________________________________________________________Connect with Wendy:LinkedinInstagram: @wendy.harropFacebook: Phineas Wright HouseWebsite: Phineas Wright House PWH Farm StaysPWH Curated Experience and TravelInterested in being a guest on the show? Which is interesting when you find out that she uses the same manufacturer as brands who sell their products at a FAR lower price point than she does. Then we move onto another entitled TikToker story - this time it's an influencer that attempts to get a free custom clothing piece from a designer who ultimately does agree to make her a skirt for significantly less than her standard rent - but then when it came time to show off her outfit on social media, she would say that SHE had "invented" it, taking full credit for the piece despite her literally paying someone to make it for her. Not long after being exposed by the designer, other creators start coming out of the woodwork because apparently stealing people's ideas and not giving credit is a normal afternoon for her.We hope you enjoyed this episode!  00:00 Introduction00:55 HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!6:38 Charlotte Tilbury Dupe Drama40:02 TikToker Exposed for Stealing Content (and Credit)01:04:58 We Love the InternetWe Love the Internets:https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTSbF9GN8/https://www.instagram.com/reel/Dacvt0ct7HT/For even more content, go join The Other Girlies over on our Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/c/doweknowthemPlease let us know on Twitter or Instagram if you have any topic suggestions for a future episode! ou've built the fitness. Now what? This week we're digging into training specificity: how to shape your training around the actual demands of your goal race, whether that's a road marathon, a 50K, or a 100-miler like Leadville or Hardrock. Specificity is the sexy stuff athletes love to obsess over, but it's also where we see the most expensive mistakes. We break down what race-specific training actually means, when it belongs in your training calendar, and the traps that cost athletes their races. What we cover:Specificity is earned. Why general fitness is the raw material and specificity is just the sculpting, and why "couch to 50K" plans set athletes up to failThe training funnel. Wide and general in base season, narrow and race-specific 8 to 12 weeks out, with fine-tuning inside the final two to three weeksDuration and time on feet. Why training for the hours you'll be out there matters more than the miles on the race page (100 miles can mean 14 hours or 30)Vert, terrain, and eccentric loading. Why per-mile elevation ratio beats a weekly vert number, how to read a course profile (three 1,000-foot climbs is not one 3,000-foot climb), and training downhill resilience with the repeat bout effectFueling and gut training. The most underrated specificity of all: why you need to practice your race-day fueling for a minimum of 12 weeksThe number one trap: sacrificing fitness on the altar of specificity, from course-obsessed weekend commutes to heat suits on the treadmill in JanuaryPlus:Listener question: "I missed my long run, so I added the miles to next week and dug myself into a hole." Why makeup miles don't exist, why the body knows stress rather than miles, and how to actually rearrange a training week when life blows up your scheduleHot or Not: running belts, handhelds, gas station candy as ultra fuel, and strength training during the taperWe're off for a two-week summer break and back in August.Questions for a future episode? This week on Ministry Minute, we delve into a brand new message entitled “We Have To Make Up Our Mind.” We talk about the most important decision that we can make in life—accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We acknowledge our sins and shortcomings, and emphasize the need for God's grace, mercy, and love. We share Isaiah 1:18 and Romans 10:9, urging viewers to respond to God's call now, as salvation is found only in Christ Jesus. #JesusLovesYou #Salvation #MinistryMinuteWe Have To Make Up Our Mind | Ministry Minute EP323Romans 10:9:That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. We all have sinned, we all have made mistakes, but in spite of our imperfections, a perfect God sent His Perfect Son to die for those very imperfect sins, so we can have eternal life. THAT'S REAL LOVE. THAT'S JESUS' LOVE. In order to receive this forgiveness you must confess and repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ into your heart which you can do by saying this prayer wholeheartedly:Dear God,I confess and admit that I am a sinner, and I ask that You please forgive me and save me. I renounce and repent of all my sins, iniquities, and transgressions. I confess that Jesus, You are LORD, and I believe with all my heart that You died and rose again. I put my complete faith in Your finished works on the cross and I believe because of Your Blood that was shed, my sins can be forgiven. I ask that You be the Head of my life and the LORD of my life from this day forward, and I ask that You please help me to live for You all the days of my life.In Jesus Name I Pray,Amen.I'm Saved, What's Next:- Be Baptized In Jesus Name- Be Filled With The Holy Ghost- Live A Holy LifeJesus Is Soon To Return— BE READY!!#Christianity #Christian #Jesus #Bible #God #Faith #JesusChrist #Church #love #Bibleverse #Gospel #prayer #HolySpirit #Godisgood #pray #biblestudy #Scripture #hope #truth #religion #JesusLovesYou #worship #grace #JesusSaves #amen #blessed #Christianlivinghttps://www.joshuahopkinsstudios.com/productions/ministryminute

Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with Abbott Stark, co-founder of OGEE, to explore one of the beauty industry's biggest questions: can clean beauty truly deliver luxury performance? Drawing from decades of product development experience, Abbott shares how OGEE was built to challenge the idea that consumers must choose between ingredient integrity and visible results. The conversation examines how the definition of "clean beauty" has evolved—and why terms like "natural" and "clean" have become increasingly difficult to navigate. Rather than relying on marketing claims, Abbott explains why third-party organic certification, ingredient sourcing, and formulation transparency are central to building consumer trust in a rapidly changing industry.A major focus of the episode is the science behind modern organic formulations. Abbott discusses how advancements in botanical actives, biofermentation, and plant stem cell technology are allowing certified organic products to deliver meaningful performance while maintaining rigorous ingredient standards. He also shares the technical challenges of developing skincare-infused makeup, where complexion products are designed not only to provide coverage but to support healthier-looking skin over time. The conversation also highlights one of OGEE's signature ingredients—jojoba—and why thoughtful sourcing can be just as important as ingredient selection itself. Throughout the episode, Abbott makes the case that the future of beauty lies in creating products that combine efficacy, transparency, and sustainability without compromise.Listen to the full episode to hear Abbott Stark discuss the evolution of clean beauty, the science behind certified organic skincare, and why high-performance beauty no longer has to come at the expense of ingredient integrity.Shop OGEEDon't forget to subscribe to Skin Anarchy on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or your preferred platform.Reach out to us through email with any questions.Sign up for our newsletter!Shop all our episodes and products mentioned through our ShopMy Shelf!*This is a sponsored partnershipSupport the show

In 2024, Washington state took a novel approach to undoing some of the historical damage caused by racist housing policy. That’s the year the state launched the Covenant Homeownership Program. It provides no-interest loans to descendents of people impacted by redlining or racially restrictive covenants. Those loans can be used for down payments and closing costs. So far, more than 1,500 home buyers have benefited from the program. And supporters say it’s giving people the chance at home ownership their ancestors were deprived of. But the program has opponents: After it was established, a nonprofit group quickly sued, alleging racial discrimination. And earlier this year, the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development launched an investigation into the program. Kinsella on Liberty Podcast: Episode 494. This is my interview by Alex Buxeda of at Schweizer Monat [Swiss Monthly; linktree]; recorded June 22, 2026. Youtube shownotes: Stephan Kinsella, patent attorney, legal theorist, and one of the leading critics of intellectual property sits with Alex Buxeda to explore whether ideas can be owned. Starting from first principles, they discuss why Kinsella argues that patents and copyrights are incompatible with property rights, the role of scarcity in economics, innovation without intellectual property, pharmaceutical patents, entrepreneurship, pricing, and the philosophical foundations of ownership. Grok summary: We discussed why intellectual property is fundamentally incompatible with genuine property rights. Stephan Kinsella argued that patents and copyrights are not legitimate property but state-granted monopolies that violate real ownership of scarce, physical resources. He explained that ideas and knowledge are non-scarce and non-rivalrous — one person's use does not prevent another's — so enforcing IP requires aggression against others' tangible property. We explored the flaws in common justifications for patents (especially in pharmaceuticals), the arbitrary nature of IP law, the myth that “creation” grants ownership, and how free competition and open knowledge flows drive far more innovation than government-protected monopolies. Kinsella also addressed the ethics of piracy, the distorting effects of the FDA and tariffs, and why emerging technologies like 3D printing and AI will increasingly undermine IP systems. https://youtu.be/Q4SD8pmpv1U?si=gtx2KN2CcsAbIl5s Related links/publications (Grok assist) For further discussion of the issues raised in this conversation, see the following resources by Stephan Kinsella, grouped by topic: Core Case Against IP & Property Rights Fundamentals Against Intellectual Property (2001/2008) — Kinsella's foundational monograph making the case that patents and copyrights are incompatible with libertarian property rights based on scarcity and homesteading. Shownotes (Grok) Podcast Shownotes Episode Title: Stephan Kinsella: Why Intellectual Property is Incompatible with Property Rights Guest: Stephan Kinsella (retired patent attorney & libertarian legal theorist) Host: Alex Buxeda Episode Summary Stephan Kinsella delivers a rigorous, first-principles critique of patents and copyright. He argues that IP is not property at all, but a government-granted monopoly that violates genuine property rights in scarce resources. Drawing on Austrian economics and libertarian ethics, he explains why ideas are non-scarce, why IP slows innovation, and why free markets and competition are superior engines of progress. A clear, uncompromising defense of abolishing intellectual property. Total Runtime: ~1 hour 22 minutes Key Topics & Timestamps 0:00 – Introduction and Practical Market Realities Kinsella begins by noting that entrepreneurs can use strategies like loss leaders and price discrimination, but cartels and monopolies are hard to sustain due to competition and cheating — setting the stage for his deeper critique of state-enforced monopolies like IP. 1:00 – Kinsella's Journey from Pro-IP to Abolitionist As a former patent attorney and lifelong libertarian, Kinsella originally accepted Ayn Rand's defense of IP. After deep study while practicing patent law, he concluded that IP is literally unjustifiable and incompatible with property rights. This realization forced him to refine his understanding of libertarian property theory, relying more heavily on Mises, Rothbard, and Hoppe. 4:22 – Core Argument: Scarcity, Property Rights, and Why Ideas Are Not Property Property rights exist solely to resolve conflicts over scarce, rivalrous resources. Ideas and knowledge are non-scarce — one person's use does not prevent another's simultaneous use. Granting IP rights therefore requires using force against others' legitimate physical property (factories, printers, materials), creating artificial conflict rather than resolving it. IP is not ownership of information; it is a negative servitude on real property. 14:55 – The Pharmaceutical Patent Defense and Why It Fails Kinsella directly refutes the claim that expensive R&D requires patents. High drug costs stem primarily from FDA regulation, not invention. Patents create monopoly pricing and slow knowledge diffusion, which is the true source of long-term progress. He criticizes utilitarian “market failure” arguments, arbitrary patent terms, and the state's schizophrenic approach (granting monopolies via patents while attacking monopolies via antitrust). Free markets naturally reward first movers with temporary profits before competition drives prices down. 31:45 – Arbitrariness of IP and the Myth of “Creation” as a Source of Rights Patent and copyright durations are completely arbitrary....

James and Robert are back with another episode of The Double Cleanse and they're taking men's skincare and make-up – and why the industry is completely dropping the ball. We get into this episode with bonding over recurring sock disasters whilst they're in London (plus an embarrassing sock story) as well as a wild Fact Or Fiction story that has to be heard to be believed… Then the conversation gets serious: why do men's skincare and makeup brands absolutely suck? James and Robert break down how brands are making basic products, while K-beauty brands completely nail it by featuring men in displays alongside women's products without any awkward gender gatekeeping. In Korea, brands treat makeup as interchangeable across all genders – no "for men" nonsense needed. The twins discuss how Gen Z is normalizing men wearing makeup (think: Dominic Fike at the Met Gala), yet Western brands still treat men's skincare like a joke – either downplaying ingredients or going hypermasculine with grenade-shaped lip balms instead of just making good products. The verdict? Men deserve access to quality skincare and makeup, whether that's through unisex brands OR properly formulated men's lines – just stop making it embarrassing or basic! *Product Recommendations* Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow BHA + PHA Pore-Tight Toner Follow The Double Cleanse Instagram: @thedoublecleansepodcast TikTok: @thedoublecleanse YouTube: @thedoublecleanse Learn more about your ad choices. Think about the last time you couldn't make up your mind about a big decision. Maybe you made a pro-and-con list, read every review, and talked it through with other people — and still couldn't decide.
