Have you ever confronted someone who hurt you — only to be met with denial, defensiveness, or gaslighting? In this powerful solo episode of The Decoding Success Podcast, Matt LeBris breaks down one of the most overlooked truths in modern healing: you don't need anyone's apology to validate your pain — and you definitely don't need it to begin healing. If you've ever waited for an “I'm sorry” that never came… this episode is for you. Matt shares: The 3 things you actually do need to heal Why seeking external validation can keep you stuck How to reclaim your power after being hurt The importance of courage, commitment, and patience in your healing journey Why healing is an inside job — and how to take the first step Whether you've been hurt by family, a friend, or a partner, this episode will help you shift your focus inward, validate your own experience, and move forward — even if the people who hurt you never acknowledge what they did. If you've ever thought, “I just need them to admit it,” this one's for you. Share this episode with someone who's been hurt and is still waiting for closure. Let them know they already have everything they need to begin again.
Today, I'm diving into the transformative power of pain and why, in some cases, the people who've hurt us are the same ones who propel us toward our greatest growth. I open up about reframing our perspective on painful experiences—because while we can't control the events themselves, we do have a say in how we interpret and learn from them. If you've ever felt resentment or been stuck in the aftermath of hurt, this conversation is all about helping you see the lessons in your pain, find gratitude for the journey, and move forward with a clearer sense of purpose and emotional intelligence. KEY POINTS / TAKEAWAYS Pain as Transformation Pain can be a catalyst that reshapes who we are and what we do next. Shifting Perspectives We can't always control what happens, but we can choose how we view it—and that shapes our outcome. Gratitude for the Hard Stuff Over time, even painful experiences can reveal the gifts they bring—like clarity, growth, or newfound strength. Process the Hurt Identifying who hurt us and how is the first step to turning pain into a lesson rather than a lingering wound. Emotional Intelligence Embracing the ups and downs of our story helps us develop deeper emotional awareness and resilience. In this episode of the Decoding Success podcast, I'm diving deep into the complexities of the tension between wanting to heal and actually being ready for it. I share some personal stories and insights on why self-assessment is key, why it's vital to set intentions, and how trusting in divine timing can make all the difference in your journey. If you've ever felt frustrated when your healing doesn't happen fast enough or wondered why painful emotions keep resurfacing, this conversation will help you see why patience and courage are so crucial for genuine transformation. KEY POINTS / TAKEAWAYS Desire vs. Divine Timing I've learned that just because we want to heal right now doesn't mean we're fully prepared for it. Healing Can't Be Rushed My own experiences taught me that healing follows its own timeline, no matter how much we try to force it. Self-Assessment Is Crucial I emphasize the importance of being real with ourselves, recognizing our emotional state, and figuring out if we're truly ready to do the work. Pain as a Motivator Sometimes it's that deep ache that ultimately pushes us to take real, purposeful action toward healing. Intention-Setting Having a clear “why” helps focus our healing efforts and makes them more effective. Navigating Emotions I talk about how real healing is about understanding and moving through negative feelings, not just wishing them away. Inner Resources I believe we already have what we need inside of us; it's just a matter of tapping into our inner strength. Effort vs. Outcome While we can control our commitment and work ethic, we can't always control how quickly results will appear. Courage Matters Healing can be scary. It requires us to confront painful truths, but that courage is exactly what fuels genuine growth. In this heartfelt episode of the Decoding Success Podcast, I'm opening up to you all about the multifaceted nature of grief and how it uniquely impacts all of us who've always felt like outsiders in their families. Drawing on my personal stories—particularly memories of the acceptance I received from my grandpa (who, btw, was a guest on this show!)—I'm going to illustrate the power of self-love and the importance of creating a meaningful legacy. From honoring the love of those we've lost to finding ways to pass on that same love to others, this conversation provides actionable insights and real-world guidance for anyone navigating the complexities of grief. KEY POINTS / TAKEAWAYS Grief Is a Journey Embrace the ups and downs; it's never a straight line. The ‘Black Sheep' Perspective Feeling isolated can magnify the pain of loss. Acceptance Matters Losing someone who truly accepts you can feel like losing that sense of belonging. Self-Love Is Essential Healing involves cultivating the same love and acceptance for yourself. Legacy Through Love Honor your loved ones by passing on the love they gave you. Healing Through Community Identifying others who also need love can create bonds and support. Emotional Growth Grief can be a catalyst for deeper self-awareness and stronger relationships. Many people tend to believe that professional success is measured by the amount of money in their bank account and that the harder they work the more successful they'll become, but what happens when that type of “hustle harder” mentality leaves you burned out and disenchanted? This week's guest suggests there is an alternative that offers a balance between hard work and success. Today we speak to Matt LeBris on the topic of “Mindful Hustling.” Matt suggests, through his own experiences, that he's learned over the years, how to apply mindfulness to his natural mentality to hustle for what he wants and how the challenges he was facing five years ago personally, pursuing therapy for the first time, as well as the launch of his podcast were catalysts for his own transformational shift. Today on the show I'm talking to Matt LeBris, award-winning entrepreneur and host of the Decoding Success podcast. I listen to Matt's show, and recently I've heard him talking a lot about love and dating from the male perspective, so I thought it would be fun to have him on the show and ask him the questions me and my girls RACK our brains about when it comes to men. With all the advice out there - from YouTube to TikTok to all the books that tell us what to do and what NOT to do when it comes to men, I'm going straight to the source. We chat about the shift in modern dating and if THE RULES really mean anything at all. Do guys really love the chase? Do they view women differently if you sleep with them on the first date? Are men REALLY intimidated by successful women? Grab a glass of wine and get ready for some juicy stuff. This is so enlightening. I know you're gonna love it. Let's get to it. Events + perspective = outcome You can't control everything around you and it's not at all about that. It's about surrendering and deciding to choose HOW you look at things from now on. In this episode of The Life Shift Podcast, Matt LeBris shares his journey of chasing external success, the attention that comes with it, and how he shifted his focus to internal growth."The chase was all about the attention, right? Because I have been programmed over the course of my life too. Get attention through achievement, get love through achievement. So it's not the worst thing in the world because it led me to achieve a lot. So I'm not gonna sit here and say that it was like, you know, I'm a victim to this. It led me to achieve a lot, but it took me some time to realize what was actually happening."Matt recounts a moment in his life when he surprised himself by winning a startup competition and how he felt a sense of euphoric bliss—this moment served as a reminder to him about the importance of recognizing and savoring personal victories. The conversation also delves into the power of being curious and open in conversations. Matt talks about the evolution of his podcast, Decoding Success, and how he has learned to approach conversations with a sense of curiosity.Overall, this episode is an inspiring reminder to turn inward and prioritize personal growth as Matt shares the story of how a moment in therapy opened his eyes to how he was in a toxic relationship. It triggered personal growth in Matt and the ability to put himself first.Matt LeBris is a born and raised New Yorker who inevitably caught the hustler spirit that fills his hometown streets. Success is often defined by external factors like wealth, status, and possessions. But what happens when we shift our focus towards leaving a positive legacy and making a difference in people's lives? In this episode, Analena and Matt LeBris discuss their personal journeys towards redefining success and the importance of turning inward for personal growth. Matt shares that he initially believed accumulating wealth was the key to success, but eventually realized that leaving a positive legacy was more important. Analena also relates to the pressure of making money as a measure of success, but emphasizes that money should not be the sole focus of one's life. The conversation also touches on the concept of human design, a transformational tool that can help individuals better understand themselves and their natural work and rest cycles. Analena explains the concept of single definition and the significance of the centers in human design, while also encouraging Matt to honor his natural work and rest cycles. Matt is a 6/2 Projector with Self-Projected Authority. Overall, this episode is a reminder that success is not about external achievements, but mainly about internal fulfillment and happiness. By turning inward and focusing on personal growth, we can leave a positive legacy and make a true difference in people's lives - and the outward success will also show naturally. BIO: Matt LeBris is a born and raised NY'er who inevitably caught the hustler's spirit that fills his hometown streets.STORY: Matt got an opportunity to be part of a successful business venture in his early 20s. He was making good money and living a good life. Unfortunately, the business went down, and he took an unpaid internship with Daymond John of Shark Tank. Matt's biggest mistake was to continue living large even though he no longer had money coming up. He blew over $80,000 of his savings by living way above his means.LEARNING: Understand how you're subconsciously programmed about money. Live below your means. “Understand how money works. If money's not coming in, be very cautious of how it's going out.”Matt LeBris Guest profileMatt LeBris is a born and raised NY'er who inevitably caught the hustler's spirit that fills his hometown streets. A Forbes 30 Under 30 nominee, Matt has worked with Daymond John of Shark Tank as well as hosted a top 1% globally ranked podcast, Decoding Success. His life mission: impact one person a day, and that's what he's here to do today.Worst investment everWhen Matt was in college, he was very fortunate to have had an opportunity to surround himself with individuals a little older than him in a particular business venture. It was a New York City hospitality throwing various events. Matt was in his early 20s and raking it in. He was doing good for himself and felt proud to make a lot of money, drive a nice car, travel, and eat out without making a dent in his bank account. At a certain point, the business started to change. Matt also began to change as a person. This led him to intern with Daymond John of Shark Tank. It was a leap of faith for Matt because it was an unpaid internship. What Matt didn't do was change his lifestyle. He wanted people to still think he was the rich young man he was before. Even though Matt now had no money coming in, he continued to live above his means just to maintain an image. He ended up blowing $80,000, taking Ubers instead of taking the train and eating at the most lavish restaurants instead of eating at home. Matt's need to appease his ego was his worst investment ever. He is still trying to forgive himself for that.Lessons learnedUnderstand how you're subconsciously programmed about money.Live below your means.Turn your worth inward.Andrew's takeawaysYour life is going to be full of ups and downs. You've got to manage during your uptimes to have the cushion you need to survive the downtime.Spend as little as you can and take pride in that. This will keep you happy even during your worst times.Actionable adviceUnderstand how money works. If money's not coming in, be very cautious of how it's going out. Put your ego aside and find any possible ways to make money.Matt's recommendationsMatt recommends talking to somebody like a therapist if you're feeling down or struggling to regularly work through these issues.No.1 goal for the next 12 monthsMatt's number one goal for the next 12 months is to adopt the mindset of John Gordon's simple equation: E+P=O (events plus perspective equals the outcome.)Parting words “I'm giving you your kudos, Andrew. In this episode I had the pleasure of speaking with Matt LeBris. Matt has worked for people like Damon John and he has accomplished great success throughout his career. He is actually a Forbes 30 under 30 nominee. We talk all about his accomplishments, his failures, and what he thinks students should do to be successful. In short, the key is self awareness and networking. Something that he said that really resonated with me was that networking is not only about who you know, but it's also about who your network knows. I couldn't agree more. Make sure to listen to the full episode to get great advice and to learn about Matt's story! Also, be sure to check out his podcast Decoding Success! Matt Lebris is the content manager for the Shark Daymond John. Matt's journey sounds like something from a movie involving getting into college, female troubles which leads to a possible gang fight, to his ultimate prosper of becoming who he is today. We talk all things content creation and what it really takes to make it in the industry. Especially how starting at a place of not knowing anyone should never be an excuse. Oh and he also got nominated for Forbes 30 under 30… No big deal either.
