Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened down 167-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 22,093 on turnover of 5.4-billion N-T. The market closed little changed on Wednesday, as many investors opted to stay on the sidelines amid lingering concerns over tariff threats from the Trump administration. The slump came after tech stocks took hit on Wall Street overnight - as the Nasdaq lost 2-per cent. Turnover stood at 214-billion N-T and market watchers say the low turnover was evidence that investors are reluctant to chase prices for now before the White House announces its reciprocal tariff policy - which is expected by April 2. Analysts say the local main board is expected to continue to move in a narrow range at around the 240-day moving average of 22,330 points before those reciprocal tariff actions are launched. Four former-servicemen found guilty of selling documents to China operative The Taipei District Court has sentenced four former military personnel to prison terms after finding them guilty of selling documents to a middleman for the Chinese intelligence services. The four were convicted for breaching (違反) national security laws and accepting bribes and given sentences of between five and seven years. The sentences can be appealed. They're calling on the government to the government to halt its actions and avoid (避免) further harming Taiwan's democracy and rule of law for the sake of short-term political gain. They're also arguing that "in order to defend" Taiwan's "democracy, rule of law, peace and security," the government should "adhere to the constitutional system and take immediate and effective measures to improve cross-strait relations." NKorea Kim Observes Drone Tests North Korea says leader Kim Jong Un observed tests of newly developed reconnaissance and attack drones this week and called for their increased production. Photos released by state media Thursday showed Kim observing what appeared to be a large reconnaissance (偵察) drone roughly resembling Boeing's E-7 Wedgetail airborne warning and control aircraft. Other images showed exploding drones crashing into targets. The report said the exploding drones feature unspecified artificial intelligence capabilities. State media said Kim expressed satisfaction with the drones' performance and approved plans to expand production, emphasizing that drones and AI should be top priorities in efforts to advance his military and adapt it to modern warfare. Trump 25Percent Tariffs on Auto Imports Donald Trump has announced a 25% tariff on all automobiles imported into the United States. The US president says the move is intended to boost (增強;推動) domestic manufacturing but it's expected to raise prices for US car buyers. Ira Spitzer has more. That was the I.C.R.T. Welcome to the sixty-first episode of the Lessons from the Cockpit podcast! The Defense Department Budget is out and there are a number of aircraft coming into the inventory and a lot going to the Boneyard at Davis Monthan AFB Arizona. Platforms that I refueled from my KC-135 are going to be gone soon, and I voice my concerns about some of the aircraft being cut out of the inventory. My biggest concern is the health of the tanker fleet of course. There are some new aircraft on the horizon also and some of them are cosmic! This episode of the Lessons from the Cockpit podcast is supported and financed by the book Tanker Pilot: Lessons from the Cockpit available on Amazon in all four formats; hardback, softback, Kindle, and Audible. The softback edition has pictures in black and white, and the hardback, Kindle, and Audible have pictures in color. Aircraft spoken about in this episode are available from Wall Pilot, custom aviation art for the walls of your home, office, or hanger. These are very detailed profiles of famous aircraft you can peel off and stick to any flat surface. Go take a look at the 128 Ready-to-Print profiles from World War II aircraft to modern aircraft. Wall Pilot can also create a graphic of your favorite aircraft with your name, unit, tail codes, and weapons loadout. One of my favorite aircraft and fortunately have been able to fly in is the F-15. The 44th Fighter Squadron Vampires were recently deactivated at Kadena Air Base Okinawa and this Eagle jet was one of their jets that deployed to the Middle East with the CHAOS nose art. This 64th Aggressor Squadron F-16C was named WRAITH because of its black paint scheme. I like this black Darth Vader scheme! The KC-10 Extender inventory will be reduced by 10 aircraft this year. The KC-10 has been called the "Gucci Bird" because of its nice ride. This is a Gucci Bird from the 60th Air Mobility Wing at Travis AFB California. The E-3B Airborne Warning and Control System or AWACS aircraft from the 961st Air Control Squadron is based at Kadena Air Base Okinawa. The AWACS will be replaced by some future platform, probably the 737 Wedgetail flown by other Air Forces. The B-1B Lancer bomber has been a workhorse of the Global War on Terror, nicknamed The Bone. This B-1B is the flagship of the 77th Weapons Squadron, the US Air Force Weapons School Bone division based at Dyess Air Force Base Texas. Thanks for downloading and listening to my podcast. In this episode of the Weekly Defence Podcast, we bring you the latest from the land, air and naval domains in the UK and provide you with an insight of the most relevant defence stories of the last month in the Asia-Pacific region.News Round (00:42) This week our domain journalists focus on the UK after the MoD released its latest Defence Equipment Plan, covering the period 2019-2029. The plan, which was rated ‘unaffordable' by the National Audit Office (NAO), reveals a fiscal black hole that threatens future investments in procurement of new equipment across the land, sea and air domains. In depth:Land Reporter Flavia Camargos Pereira touches on the potential implications for the British Army as it attempts to implement a challenging modernisation programme. Officially, £32 billion is set aside for army equipment projects in 2019-2029, but the NAO report raises questions over the fate of programmes such as Ajax, Boxer, the Challenger 2 replacement, MRV-P (JLTV) and Warrior. Editor – Air Tim Martin highlights some potential impacts on UK air programmes. A lack of funding is likely to result in significantly delayed deliveries of the MQ-9B Protector UAV, for example. RAF procurement of E-7 Wedgetail airborne early warning and P-8 Poseidon MRA1 maritime patrol aircraft could also be affected, which in the first case could translate into a serious capability gap. Tim also delves into the Sea Venom design: the Defence Equipment Plan mentioned design problems with the anti-ship missile, resulting in a 15-month in-service delay. Senior Editor - Naval Richard Thomas updates our listeners on how the senior service fares under the Defence Equipment Plan. Naval Command expects to spend around £30.9 billion over the next ten years. This includes the completion of build and trials activity of the carrier HMS Prince of Wales and work-up of HMS Queen Elizabeth for its first operational deployment in 2021. However, costly problems on the construction of HMS Audacious (boat four in the seven-boat Astute class of submarines) are having a knock-on effect for the delivery of the next boat, HMS Anson.Deep Dive – The latest from Asia-Pacific (18:23)Asia-Pacific Editor Gordon Arthur brings our listeners the latest news from the region, looking at some of the biggest stories of the last month following shows in India and Singapore.Gordon talks about Singapore's plan to increase its naval capacity by investing in more littoral vessels and upgraded patrol boats. He also mentions the prospects for Indian procurement of MH-60R helicopters, in the wake of US President Donald Trump's recent visit. Elsewhere, in China the PLA is placing a major order for body armour; and in Australia the RAAF faces a problem after the USN suspended acquisition of the MQ-4C Triton for two years. Interview- Schiebel (31:35)Gordon Arthur talks to Hans Schiebel, chairman of the eponymous Austrian company, about a recent contract from the Royal Thai Navy to supply its Camcopter S-100 VTOL UAS. Gordon also asks about future plans and investments from Schiebel in South East Asia. Music and sound mixing provided by Fred Prest

Join Carlos, Nev and Matt for today's show. In this episode we're talking about the dramatic collapse of one low cost transatlantic airline, there's another rather amusing paint-job fail to rival Cathay Paciic and one airline decides to tighten the rules for emotional support animals. In the military it's exciting news for the HMS Queen Elizabeth and talks are underway between the UK and Boeing for their Wedgetail. Carlos talks to Graham, Captain Al, Fabian and Philip at Farnborough and Nev talks to Jordan about the routes he's been taking in the air recently. We also have some quick 'in-flight' feedback from Evan. We love to receive your feedback and comments so please get in touch with us on social media by searching for 'PlaneTalkingUK' and email us via podcast@planetalkinguk.com.
