In this episode, Dr. Mary Alice Mina discusses the differences between PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and its offshoots, including PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin). She debunks common myths surrounding PRP, explains its effectiveness in treating hair loss and skin rejuvenation, and provides best practices for achieving optimal results. The episode also highlights the safety of PRP treatments and the current standing of PRF in cosmetic procedures. Key Takeaways: - PRF is being marketed as the next generation of PRP. - PRP is a well-established treatment in regenerative medicine. - There is substantial scientific backing for PRP's effectiveness. - PRP treatment is not standardized like pharmaceutical products. - Multiple sessions of PRP are often required for best results. -Results from PRP treatments take time to manifest. - PRP is generally safe but requires proper medical handling. - Hydration and timing can influence PRP effectiveness. - PRF is primarily beneficial for wound healing, not cosmetic use. - Current data supports PRP over PRF for cosmetic procedures.   Follow Dr. Mina here:-  https://instagram.com/drminaskin https://www.facebook.com/drminaskin https://www.youtube.com/@drminaskin https://www.linkedin.com/in/drminaskin/ For more great skin care tips, subscribe to The Skin Real Podcast or visit www.theskinreal.com Baucom & Mina Derm Surgery, LLC Email - scheduling@atlantadermsurgery.com Contact - (404) 844-0496 Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/baucomminamd/ Thanks for listening! In this telugu podcast episode, we sit down with Dr. A. Gurava Reddy, the celebrated orthopedic surgeon and CEO of Sunshine Hospitals, for an in-depth conversation about modern healthcare, bone health, medical ethics, and personal life experiences. Dr. Reddy, known for his expertise in joint replacements and healthcare management, sheds light on the realities of being a doctor in today's world. With hospitals often depicted negatively in films, such as in the movie Tagore starring Chiranjeevi, Dr. Reddy offers his perspective on how such portrayals influence public perception and the challenges doctors face in gaining patients' trust. We also discuss whether hospitals like Sunshine have specific targets and how the healthcare system balances financial goals with quality patient care. Dr. Reddy addresses pressing topics like how “sitting is the new smoking,” explaining the dangers of prolonged sitting and improper posture. He shares practical tips on choosing the right pillow and chair to maintain a healthy posture. The conversation takes an interesting turn as we explore whether it's better to sleep on a mattress or directly on the floor, and the pros and cons of each option. The episode offers valuable insights into sciatica and its impact, with Dr. Reddy detailing how severe back pain during pregnancy can be managed. He talks about the effects of the “relaxin hormone” on women's bodies during pregnancy and suggests ways to provide relief for expecting mothers. Another major topic we touch upon is the harmful impact of smoking on bone health, as Dr. Reddy explains how smoking, soda consumption, and excessive caffeine intake contribute to osteoporosis by making bones brittle. He emphasizes the importance of weight-bearing exercises and a diet rich in cheese, fish, nuts, mushrooms, fortified cereals, and tofu to maintain healthy bones. We further delve into the credibility of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injections for knee pain. Are these treatments a genuine breakthrough or just another scam? Dr. Reddy offers his candid opinion on PRP and similar treatments, cautioning viewers about the deceptive practices of some doctors who exploit vulnerable patients. Our discussion also covers the controversial topic of high heels, evaluating whether they are detrimental to long-term health and how often they can be worn without adverse effects. The conversation highlights the challenges of finding reliable doctors in today's digital age, where misinformation is rampant on social media. Dr. Reddy reflects on why India lacks a robust system to rate doctors like the US, and he discusses the ethical concerns around fake doctors performing unnecessary surgeries on rural patients to benefit from Arogya Shree funds. He also shares his thoughts on medical negligence and explains the difference between complications and malpractice, providing insight into how insurance and consumer forums help protect both doctors and patients. Dr. Reddy addresses the rising issue of lower back pain among teenagers, attributing it to a lack of playgrounds, ventilation, and physical exercise in schools. We discuss his perspective on trauma management, the importance of hip replacements, and the increased frequency of joint pain post-COVID, which has puzzled both doctors and patients. On a personal note, Dr. Reddy opens up about his work with the Sarvejana Foundation and the STOP initiative for accident prevention. He shares how these social causes are funded and how he manages to balance his time between his professional and philanthropic work. The conversation also touches on the physical toll of bad roads, which Dr. Reddy believes contribute significantly to back and joint pain. This podcast provides a holistic view of healthcare, medical ethics, and personal growth. Dr. Gurava Reddy's candid answers and practical advice on topics like bone health, posture, medical scams, and mental wellness offer invaluable takeaways.

There are incredible non-invasive or minimally invasive techniques to restore joint health and avoid surgery. We will explore Dr. Bianco's path and experience in this amazing field of joint restoration and offer you simple steps that you can engage to ease pain.Upfront summary: 1. Modern technology such as stem cells and exosomes allow us to accomplish results that weren't available 10 years ago.2. You can rebuild, restore and regenerate joint health in ways that surgery cannot, such as restoring cartilage. 3. Everyone over the age of 50 has some degree of arthritis but not everyone feels pain. Having arthritis and having pain are not synonymous.4. We are going to discuss the differences between these injection therapies:· PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma, an older technology using your own growth factors.· Stem cells & exosomes offer a huge magnitude of difference over PRP and supply true healing power.· Prolotherapy – stimulates the body's natural repair process.· Ozone stimulates 3 modes of action: mitochondrial energy, detoxification, and immune system stabilization and support. It also works to animate stem cells for repair.5. Adjuncts that support and amplify these injection therapies:· Peptides – BPC-157 is a natural occurring protein that stimulates a sharp rise in repair molecules VEGF, Factor VIII, collagen, and CD34.· Glucosamine & Chondroitin – stimulates chondrocytes to generate new cartilage and create hyaluronic acid for lubrication.· MSM – antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, makes cartilage stronger.· Boswellia & Curcumin – reduce inflammation like NSAIDS but without the side effect and danger.· Joint & Body Collagen (HippEvo) – Fortigel and Tendoactive are proven elements to strengthen joints and reduce inflammation.· Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber at Huber Personalized Medicine – doubles the speed of repair for a quicker return to action. · Red light laser therapy – mitochondrial stimulation to augment repair energy

#AskDrJohnWatts Different questions related to baldness, hair grafts, hair loss, hair transplant procedures and medical treatments for hair loss are being raised by patients now and then, including the followers of Dr John Watts, who keep flooding his series of hugely popular educational videos on his popular YouTube channel with queries related to different hair issues. In this educational video session, Hyderabad's noted dermatologist & trichologist and one of the Best Hair Transplant Surgeons in Hyderabad, Dr John Watts explains the dos and don'ts of alcohol consumption while undergoing hair procedures such as GFC, PRP, derma roller or Stem Cell Treatment. Is it safe to consume alcohol or should avoid it altogether permanently? Is there a time after which one can resume alcohol consumption? Dr John Watts answers all these questions. So far, he has performed over 2000+ hair transplant surgeries successfully. Jagan Mohan Royal asks: Sir, during Growth Factor Concentrate (GFC) therapy, can I consume alcohol? Is it safe? Please explain. Many hair loss patients undergoing various hair procedures are often curious about the impact of alcohol consumption on their treatments. While Dr John Watts doesn't advocate a complete prohibition of alcohol, he emphasizes that individuals undergoing procedures like GFC (Growth Factor Concentrate) therapy, stem cell treatment, PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), or dermaroller treatment should follow certain strict guidelines to avoid any risky side effects to their hair growth. In response to a query by Jagan Mohan Royal, Dr Watts recommends abstaining from alcohol consumption 2–3 days before and after the procedure. Usually, while undergoing these hair procedures such as GFC, PRP, dermaroller, or stem cell treatments, spacing is important between two procedures by at least 21 days to ensure optimal results. “If one sets aside these 5–6 days before and after the procedure, then one is free to engage in social drinking in other remaining days well before a new procedure is due,” said Dr John Watts, reassuring that social drinking during the remaining days, beyond the specific guideline period, is not harmful. Dr Watts explains that during these procedures, growth factors, including serum and platelets, are added to the scalp. Consuming alcohol around the time of the treatment can potentially affect hair growth. “Hence, it is crucial to avoid alcohol on the day of the procedure and the days immediately before and after,” he informed. He also advises against taking a head bath immediately after PRP or GFC procedures, as the growth factor concentrate can get washed away. Waiting until the next morning to wash the scalp will ensure the effectiveness of the treatment. Conclusion: For individuals undergoing hair procedures like GFC, PRP, stem cell treatment, or derma roller, it is essential to follow the recommended guidelines regarding alcohol consumption. Avoiding alcohol in the days leading up to and following the procedure immediately will contribute to the success and effectiveness of the treatments. Additionally, spacing out the procedures and taking care of post-procedure instructions, such as delaying head baths, will optimize the benefits of these hair treatments.

Have you heard all about PRP but not PRF? Tune in to learn why PRF is the new "Hot" treatment! Learn all the differences between PRP and PRF! PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) is processed a little differently than PRP. It is not spun as long or as fast. That leaves other growth factors like white blood cells and stem cells. No additives or anti-coagulants are injected which means the PRF needs to be injected quickly after being spun down. Once it is injected, clots form and the fibrin in the clot keeps the platelets in place. A slow release of growth factors occurs in the next 7-10 day period. In this second interview with Dr. Josh Donaldson, we explore PRP or platelet-rich plasma and what it could do for your osteoarthritic knees, jumper's knees, meniscus tears, rotator cuff injuries, hypermobile shoulders, painful lower backs, plantar fasciitis, and even wrinkle lines. This is a natural treatment that harvests the power of components in your own blood to aid in regenerating cartilage, stopping tendon pain, and getting professional athletes back in the game. My dentist even uses PRP in his practice to help with bone regrowth after severe tooth abscesses. During the video, we show the process of drawing the blood, putting it in a centrifuge, extracting the PRP, and injecting it into my own knee. In the past, I had a very hypermobile shoulder that would pop, click and hurt. After a number of PRP injections, I am doing push-ups and live pain-free. It was a painful process but well worth the time, money, and pain. Dr. Josh Donaldson began his educational career at the University of Oregon where he obtained a B.S. in Sports Medicine and Biology. He then worked in the field of Physical Therapy and Fitness Training for several years before obtaining his doctorate (N.D.) from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, OR. Following medical school, Dr. Donaldson completed a post-doctoral clinical research fellowship where he investigated the nutritional implications of various diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and digestive disorders. Now in private practice, Dr. Donaldson incorporates a holistic approach to each of his patients by addressing the whole person and every aspect of their health. He practices general family medicine but has specific interests in chronic pain disorders, sports medicine, mental/emotional disorders, healthy aging, diabetes/obesity, heart disease, and gastrointestinal conditions. His ultimate goal is to find the underlying cause of pain & dysfunction in the body for these and other areas of medicine and then develop personalized treatment strategies accordingly. Attention is centered on reversing & preventing further dysfunction through patient education, the implementation of various therapeutic modalities, and appropriate dietary & lifestyle modifications to help guide his patients towards optimal and lasting wellness. In addition, Dr. Donaldson has a passion for education and has been an Adjunct Professor at Cabrillo College and the Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Santa Cruz, California since 2006. He also gives community lectures on various health topics, offers Corporate Wellness Programs throughout the West Coast, and leads Detox & Cleansing Retreats in Mexico & Hawaii. If you're experiencing hair loss, this episode is for you. I have suffered for over 20 years with on-again, off-again, female pattern hair loss, or Androgenic Alopecia. This type of hair loss in men and women is generally caused by hormonal changes, aging, and genetics. Hormonal changes in women could be triggered by using birth control, going through menopause, and taking Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), or Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT). In fact, most women experience hair loss during their menopausal years. The main difference between men and women with pattern hair loss, is just that, the pattern in which hair is lost. For women, it results in a wider part down the middle, thinning around the crown and temples. For men, hair loss is more focused on a receding hair line that moves towards the back until bald. Either way, it's devastating. While some men rock a bald head and it's more socially acceptable, women want full, lush, thick, and shiny hair all over their heads. There are other forms of hair loss, including Telogen Effluvium, when significantly more hairs move from the growing phase to the shedding phase and can occur after a traumatic or stressful experience, such as going through a divorce, death of a loved one, massive weight loss from dieting, surgery, and childbirth. When my hair loss started over 27 years ago, it was during the decade I birthed 5 of my kids. If you're living with an autoimmune condition, you may also experience hair loss. If you're malnourished, undereating, or lacking to consume enough protein, you may also experience hair loss. As you can see, there are many biological pathways that can lead to hair loss.My hair loss to hair growth journey has led me down a long path trying different protocols. Through my own experience and research, I've learned that there's no one size fits all approach and that stacking multiple protocols is essential for healthy hair growth. I started a new, stacked protocol about 9 months ago and have completely reversed my hair loss and now have my lush curls back, with increased hair volume. #AskDrJohnWatts In Early Stage of Baldness, Is Only PRP/Minoxidil Enough or Both Needed? This is a common confusion that many hair transplant patients share: In the early stage of baldness, can we just use PRP? Or is only the Minoxidil application would solve the problem? Or should we use both simultaneously for the best results? In this educational video, Dr John Watts — a noted dermatologist, trichologist and hair transplant surgeon in Hyderabad — demystifies this confusion for the benefit of the viewers of his popular YouTube channel. He has successfully performed over 1900+ hair transplant procedures so far. In general, the use of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy is regarded as efficacious for hair growth during the early stage of baldness. This technique is implemented by separating the growth factor from one's blood. The blood is processed by obtaining 15–20 ml of blood and once the growth factor is collected, it is injected into the scalp. This procedure leads to hair growth and increases hair density. Similarly, Minoxidil solution, which is US FDA approved, is known to show good results when it is applied in the region facing hair thinning. It works by increasing the blood supply to the region besides promoting hair growth and increasing hair density. However, the million-dollar question is whether one should only use PRP or Minoxidil or use both simultaneously for best results? “This question was answered in the form of a study conducted on three groups of hair loss patients facing an early stage of baldness in the age group of 18–58 years,” explained Dr John Watts.

Our guest, Dr. Alan J. Bauman, takes a deep dive into the causes of hair loss in men and women and describes a number of treatment options. Dr. Bauman is a full-time board-certified hair restoration physician who has treated over 30,000 patients and performed more than 10,000 hair transplant procedures since starting his practice at Bauman Medical, located in Boca Raton, FL in 1997. Recognized by Forbes as one of “10 CEOs Transforming Healthcare in America,” Dr. Bauman is known for pioneering numerous technologies in the field of hair restoration including minimally-invasive FUE Follicular Unit Extraction, VIP|FUE™ No-Shave Hair Transplant, Low-Level Laser Therapy, PRP Platelet Rich Plasma, PDOgro™, Eyelash Transplants and others. In this podcast we cover: Psychological impact of hair loss: aging, anxiety depression. “Time is follicles.” Hair loss doesn't get better without treatment. 5,000-year history: Egyptian pigeon droppings and lizard skin. Evolution of FDA-approved treatments and transplants. Therapeutic and diagnostic interventions: AI-powered microscopes and DNA. How are diagnostics and treatments managed at Bauman Medical? Wade gets a live hair consultation! Watching this podcast, you'll be quickly taken in by Dr. Bauman's charisma, knowledge and talent. He inspires us all to “feel great every day” and offers life-changing procedures he's perfected over 25 years for those who want to roll back hair loss and capture the vitality of their younger days. A healthy head of hair doesn't always require medical interventions. Dr. Bauman also highlights the importance of stress reduction techniques, good sleep, healthy dieting and keeping the body optimized to improve hair quality. As is so often the case in life, a random discussion (with a hair transplant patient) transformed Dr. Bauman from a general surgeon to a medical hair restoration physician. As Dr. Bauman tells it, “The one thing that really stuck with me from that first conversation was how it changed his life and I'll never forget his description of how he changed personally and professionally.” Hair loss, what's the big deal? “It's a sensitive topic for a lot of people. They're embarrassed about it, they want to talk about it, there's a vanity issue and there's all these different things about it.” “Appearance wise, they want to look good and feel great. That's the fun part about having a practice like mine. I've been enjoying it like that, you know for 25 years.” “They see it [hair loss] as a sign of their youth slipping away.” What can I expect if I choose treatment? Diagnosis, treatment and post-care are the cornerstones of the service provided at Bauman Medical and are tailored to each client's specific condition and expectations.  “And so we have to have the first, most important thing, which is a good plan.” “The first thing we talk about always, what are the appropriate expectations for what the procedure can provide?” “The most common risk is that a person has a procedure, but they don't continue on with medical therapy or they fall off the wagon.” “That they must continue, whether it be a topical medication, oral medication, nutritional, nutraceutical or using the laser that they invested in. And that's really been the secret to our success with our patients is that consistent follow up and that kind of team approach.” How goes Wade's consult? Dr. Bauman typically does consults in the office or via Zoom. Patients are required to complete a lengthy questionnaire regarding lifestyle, health conditions and expectations. Further, genetic testing is recommended to provide an optimized treatment plan—personalized, precision medicine. Following are excerpts from a 20-minute “consult” without the detailed background information in which Wade seeks advice for his thinning hair.  DR: “Tell me a little bit about your hair loss situation and maybe what you're seeing in the mirror and how it looks to you when you look at your hair and when you first became aware of some hair changes? WL: “Maybe in my late 20s I just started to notice like over here on the sides, particularly. It would just start to go back a little bit more. Nothing that was alarming, but something I do recall noticing it's kind of like when you get your first wrinkle. A percentage of loss is happening, each year, and now I have very fine hair, as well as existing blonde and very light.” WL: “So that also amplifies it in certain lighting when I'm on lights and things like that, so you know that that light shines right through my hair. I'd like it to be a little thicker so I don't go full Kojak too soon. DR: “Sure, and as mentioned before you do have some family hair loss on your dad's side. So we know hair loss that is genetic male pattern baldness does come from the families, mom-side or dad-side or both and it can skip generations and siblings.” DR: “The good news about that crown area is that we can definitely protect and restore that area, probably with non-invasive therapies. But if you're looking to change the way your hairline looks then obviously we would need to do something more aggressive.” WL: “Well, I think, if I had a magic wand, I would just kind of return it back to maybe where it was when I was in my early 20s. I'd have no receding parts here.” DR: “Teenager hairline is not going to look normal and natural as you continue to age, and so we need to talk about an age appropriate hairline, which is going to have a little bit of a recession to it.” DR: “But the cool thing about this kind of technology is that even at four days out from the procedure you can do tennis and golf and lift weights, you can be at the gym sweating sauna. It takes about four to five months for those hairs to start to kick in and grow.” Stay tuned for more news about Wade's detailed treatment plan. As Wade notes, everybody in the biohacking community is talking about health and vibrancy and living long and living strong. But there's also a cosmetic side. We typically start each day looking in the mirror. “Why have a Ferrari, with a bad paint job when you can have it with a nice shiny clear coat? I think hair is one of those things that really makes someone look vibrant, young and vital.” “I want to look as good as I feel. I've been taking care of myself… I'm doing the biohacking thing… I'm on the journey… I'm in the tribe.” More references: Bauman Medical URL Facebook Instagram LinkedIn YouTube

Is Formula 82M A Solution For Hair Loss?

The Aesthetic Insider Show

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 21, 2015 17:00

Hair loss affects millions of men and women and is the most underdeveloped area of aesthetic medicine. Men and women with thinning or balding hair are more aware than ever of the clinical options available to them. Unlike other aesthetic procedures, however, clinical options often remain a mystery.  For industry watchers, the consensus is that the aesthetic industry is on the edge of a tidal wave of new treatments for hair loss which will reshape the hair loss industry as we know it. Today we focus on one of these new products Formula 82M A Solution For Hair Loss. Causes of hair loss can be attributed to everything from hormones and stress to styling and genetics. Under normal conditions, the average person will “lose” approximately 100 hairs per day and grow 100 new hairs per day. However, the most common type of hair loss, hereditary male and female pattern hair loss, occurs as hair follicles miniaturize, weaken and eventually die—causing receding hairlines, decreased coverage and overall decreased volume.  Dr. Alan Bauman, an internationally-renowned board-certified expert in hair restoration, has treated over 17,000 men and women at his practice in Boca Raton, FL. Dr. Bauman offers a variety of hair loss solutions including minimally-invasive no-linear-scar Neograft FUE hair transplant surgery, PRP Platelet Rich Plasma therapy, low level laser therapy, FDA-approved and custom-compounded oral medications, nutritionals and nutraceuticals and compounded pharmaceutical topical solutions such as “Formula 82M.”  He also embraces a combination ‘multi-therapy' approach to help  patients reach their goals. Some might accomplish their goals using ONLY non-invasive treatments. So far Formula 82M has shown promising results. www.baumanmedical.com www.hairsciencellc.com
