This week on The Exit: Brecht Palombo's business was down 90% year-on-year after the Global Financial Crisis when he knew he had to find another way to make money. With one baby, and another on the way, Brecht was researching lender data in order to find new opportunities when the idea came to him. If he was wanting this information, surely others would too. He compiled the data into a PDF, and then sold this data to others. The first product was simple, but people were paying hundreds of dollars for the information so Brecht knew he was on the right track. He took the concept and grew it into a SaaS business with a subscription offering. From there the business grew and he saw it through to a 7-figure exit. Listen to hear Brecht's exit story. Brecht Palombo bought his first business with a partner, the local bike shop, at 15 years old in 1989. In the first dot com boom Brecht sold software and training to small businesses and then to Fortune 1000 and government accounts. In 2009 he started Distressed Pro and BankProspector, which grew to be and still is the number one provider of contacts and non-performing loan and REO portfolio data while listing every bank and credit union in the United States. Brecht optimized that business using the EOS as guidance and then sold it for 7-figures. Brecht has been involved in the sale of more than $200MM in assets for private and institutional investors and creditors. Today, Brecht is on a mission to build and buy businesses while sharing everything he knows, and is still learning. Insurance probably isn't the first thing you think about when reflecting on the film industry, am I right? But in the wise words of Mike Groner, Vice President of Front Row Insurance Brokers, "You can't make a film without it." Mike grew up in Los Angeles, CA and began his insurance career in 2003. He worked alongside entertainment business managers and provided insurance to touring musicians, various productions and the Hollywood elite. He then moved north to Vancouver, BC Canada and joined Front Row Insurance Brokers in 2011, where he continues to specialize in insurance and risk management for film and television productions, equipment operators, video game producers and rental houses. Front Row Insurance Brokers have offices across North America and they cover all sizes of productions - from 2K to 200MM. Mike and I discuss the differences between US and Canadian productions in regards to insurance needs, how to minimize production hazards and transfer risk, and what it was like for him to leave sunny Los Angeles for rainy Vancouver.

Sorry about the delay. I am working on a Zelle book and it has been hard to record. Ironically my first topic is about Zelle. WCVB in Boston had a story about a local man who was attacked by cyber criminals who commandeered his online banking to send themselves $3000 via Zelle from his online banking despite his texts not authorizing the transaction. Ben Simmoneau, the reporter, got the money back for this man and had a nuanced point about Reg E, which is supposed to protect customers from fraud. Bank of America of course did nothing UNTIL the news story came out...like always. Plus I talk about BofA Earnings, and how a $400MM amount was set aside to take care of 2 settlements. First one was something we talked about. $225MM fine for Unemployment issues. The other $200MM? For improper use of personal devices. I discuss the grey area that bankers have with customers info and talking amongst themselves. During WFH in 2020 with COVID sending people home to work, a lot likely happened to warrant this potential fine, which I believe ended up causing people to go back into the office more than anything else that was going on. Plus, I discuss the direction of my BofA book in light of recent events that happened in my life! NB Has recovered over $3.4 Million from big banks back to consumers, with nearly $700k of it being Zelle fraud! 27,000+ Followers on TikTok, Twitter and Instagram Buy My Book "High-Risk Transaction" Find all my social media and other links at: TheNotoriousBanker.com (Links to YouTube, my book's page, podcast links, and how to contribute by Venmo/Cashapp and much more!!!)
