This week is dominated by Moon-based aspects, signaling something stirring beneath the surface—like pressure building before a storm. The real crescendo arrives on Sunday, when Mars moves direct in Cancer, a placement that feels anything but comfortable. Yet, this discomfort is exactly the point: you're being pushed to make things more comfortable and correct. If you don't? You risk entering a 26-month cycle of struggle, feeling stuck in the same emotional, energetic and practical challenges. This is a make-or-break moment. The key to making it? Mastering the basics of Cancer energy. Because by the time Mars shoves into zodiac sign Leo in April, your life will demand a strong foundation, or else things could truly fall apart.

Understanding where our students come from and who they are is so important to ensuring we are providing them with an environment where they feel welcome and respected. This may mean dismantling some assumptions we have about different countries and really trying to understand the countries they are coming from and the specific areas they are coming from. Margarita Pearce is joining us today to share her unique perspective and provide some insight and tips for ESL teachers. In this episode, Margarita is sharing what it was like growing up in Panama and her experience working with the U.S. Embassy in Panama and the Fullbright Program. We are diving into ways teachers can ensure that newcomers feel comfortable in their new school, why you should consider the challenges their families face and find ways to support them in understanding the school system, and tips for how teachers can create an environment that fosters success. Margarita Pearce was born and raised at the crossroads of the world, the Republic of Panama. Roger Zelazny (1937-1995) combined poetic prose with fearless literary ambition to become one of the most influential science fiction writers of the 1960s. Yet many critics found his later novels underachieving and his turn to fantasy a disappointment. In Roger Zelazny (University of Illinois Press, 2021), F. Brett Cox surveys the landscape of Zelazny's creative life and contradictions. Launched by the classic 1963 short story "A Rose for Ecclesiastes," Zelazny soon won the Hugo Award for Best Novel with …And Call Me Conrad and two years later won again for Lord of Light. Cox looks at the author's overnight success and follows Zelazny into a period of continued formal experimentation, the commercial triumph of the Amber sword and sorcery novels, and renewed acclaim for Hugo-winning novellas such as “Home Is the Hangman” and “24 Views of Mt. Fuji, by Hokusai.” Throughout, Cox analyzes aspects of Zelazny's art, from his preference for poetically alienated protagonists to the ways his plots reflected his determined individualism. F. (Francis) Brett Cox is the Charles A. Dana Professor of English at Norwich University. In addition to his critical study of Roger Zelazny (recently awarded second place for nonfiction in the 2022 Locus Awards), he has published over thirty short stories, most of which appear in his collection The End of All Our Exploring: Stories (Fairwood Press, 2018). He has also co-edited the anthology Crossroads: Tales of the Southern Literary Fantastic (Tor, 2004). Daniel Moran earned his B.A. and M.A. in English from Rutgers University and his Ph.D. in History from Drew University. The author of Creating Flannery O'Connor: Her Critics, Her Publishers, Her Readers, he teaches research and writing at Rutgers and co-hosts the podcast Fifteen-Minute Film Fanatics, found at https://fifteenminutefilm.podbean.com/ and on Twitter @15MinFilm. "The diverse families of faith we have interviewed practiced a wide range of religious rituals and activities at home. These practices reportedly deepened their faith in God and strengthened their sense of connection with their family members. Such patterns of home-based worship take on pointed relevance in our current COVID-19 context where houses of worship have been closed. "Prayer, studying scripture, singing hymns, lighting candles, discussing spiritual topics, storytelling, a shared meal—all of these shared acts can be elements of family worship. And service to others in the human family comprises yet another way for families to worship God together. " Loren Marks reads the article, "Genuine Faith Practiced at Home Is a Powerful Antidote to Apocalyptic Fear" which was originally published in Institute for Family Studies on April 2, 2020.

The Lotos-eatersBy Alfred, Lord Tennyson“Courage!” he said, and pointed toward the land,“This mounting wave will roll us shoreward soon.”In the afternoon they came unto a landIn which it seemed always afternoon. All round the coast the languid air did swoon,Breathing like one that hath a weary dream.Full-faced above the valley stood the moon; And like a downward smoke, the slender streamAlong the cliff to fall and pause and fall did seem.A land of streams! some, like a downward smoke,Slow-dropping veils of thinnest lawn, did go;And some thro’ wavering lights and shadows broke,Rolling a slumbrous sheet of foam below. They saw the gleaming river seaward flowFrom the inner land: far off, three mountain-tops,Three silent pinnacles of aged snow,Stood sunset-flush’d: and, dew’d with showery drops,Up-clomb the shadowy pine above the woven copse. The charmed sunset linger’d low adownIn the red West: thro’ mountain clefts the daleWas seen far inland, and the yellow downBorder’d with palm, and many a winding valeAnd meadow, set with slender galingale;A land where all things always seem’d the same! And round about the keel with faces pale,Dark faces pale against that rosy flame,The mild-eyed melancholy Lotos-eaters came.Branches they bore of that enchanted stem,Laden with flower and fruit, whereof they gaveTo each, but whoso did receive of them,And taste, to him the gushing of the waveFar far away did seem to mourn and raveOn alien shores; and if his fellow spake,His voice was thin, as voices from the grave; And deep-asleep he seem’d, yet all awake,And music in his ears his beating heart did make. They sat them down upon the yellow sand,Between the sun and moon upon the shore; And sweet it was to dream of Fatherland,Of child, and wife, and slave; but evermoreMost weary seem’d the sea, weary the oar,Weary the wandering fields of barren foam. Then some one said, “We will return no more”;And all at once they sang, “Our island homeIs far beyond the wave; we will no longer roam.”Find us online at thatsnotcanon.com/epigraphySubscribe to us on ITUNES, STITCHER, SPOTIFY, RADIOPUBLIC or your podcatcher of choice.Find us on FACEBOOK, TWITTER or INSTAGRAM.
