Episode Notes Airbnb aims to focus on a lot more than short-term rentals. The company has plans to consistently launch new lines of business going forward, including those that may not be geared toward travel, writes Travel Technology Reporter Justin Dawes. CEO Brian Chesky said at the Skift Global Forum on Wednesday he anticipates launching two or three ventures annually that could eventually generate a billion dollars a year in revenue. He acknowledged not all of those ventures will be successful, but added now is the right time for the company to grow beyond the core business. Chesky also said that stays between 30 and 90 days could represent a huge area of growth for Airbnb, noting that online travel agencies wouldn't likely provide travelers that opportunity. Next, Las Vegas officials believe the city needs to host more big sporting events to help maintain tourism growth, writes Global Tourism Reporter Dawit Habtemariam. Steve Hill, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said at the Skift Global Forum the city aims to have a marquee event in the first or second quarter of each year in addition to the annual Formula 1 race. Las Vegas hosted the Super Bowl this February, which generated $1 billion in incremental economic impact. Sandra Douglass Morgan, president of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders, said the city wouldn't be the same if it stopped hosting large sporting events. Las Vegas is scheduled to host Wrestlemania and the College Football Playoff National Championship next year. Finally, Dubai is synonymous with luxury tourism. But the city is looking to rely less on its famous landmarks and celebrity campaigns in favor of what it considers a more authentic tourism experience, writes Middle East Reporter Josh Corder. Dubai Tourism CEO Issam Kazim said the city needed landmark projects and luxury hotels to attract tourists in the beginning. But he said Dubai Tourism is working to showcase the city's residents and hidden gems, citing its arts and culture. For more travel stories and deep dives into the latest trends, head to skift.com. Episode Notes Major U.S. airlines have made improvements this year on cancellation rates. However, the industry has seen an enormous increase in passenger complaints, writes Airlines Reporter Meghna Maharishi. Consumer complaints against airlines in the first five months of 2023 topped 2022 levels during the same timeframe, according to a report from the U.S. Public Interest Research Group, with data from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Maharishi notes the DOT received so many complaints it had to delay the release of the data. U.S. travelers made more than 38,000 complaints, according to the report Roughly 35% of consumer complaints pertained to flight issues, whether they be cancellations, delays or missed connections. Next, Middle East Reporter Josh Corder takes a look at Dubai, host of the Skift Global Forum East conference. The city has completed its journey from a “dot in the desert” to a global hub, believes one local tourism executive. Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Tourism, said at the Forum on Thursday the city's expat residents are truly global citizens. Kazim attributed Dubai's growth to the city's entrepreneurial spirit. He also expressed optimism that Dubai will see further tourism growth, noting it views 2023 as its tourism benchmark. The CEO acknowledged that staffing remains an issue after many hotels and airlines downsized during the pandemic. Finally, destinations throughout Africa are ramping up their efforts to lure travelers from India, the world's largest outbound travel market, writes Reporter Harriet Akinyi. Akinyi reports Kenya in particular is heavily targeting Indian travelers. Kenya attracted the most Indian visitors among all African countries in the first eight months of 2013. The Kenya Tourism Board recently welcomed more than 150 Indian tour operators for a conference that one Kenyan official said would help drum up interest in the country. Akinyi also cited South Africa, Rwanda and Uganda — among others — as African nations increasing their efforts to welcome Indian visitors. South Africa's Tourism Minister has called for visa requirements for Indian — as well as Chinese — nationals to be eased or eliminated.

This podcast is an interview with Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Tourism Listening to Issam you will understand why Dubai became such an amzing destination for tourists and Dubai strategy to attract visitors. As the interview of Issam Kazim is in English, here are some extracts translated in French.

What You'll Learn From This Episode: How to overcome stage fright or the feel of hesitation to do something Benefits of having a structured presentation Importance of getting feedback from a professional Related Links and Resources: I put together my best public speaking and confidence Masterclass. They can go to www.confidencecoach.ae/masterclass. Summary: Before Andreea Zoia was recognized as an expert in confidence coaching, a highly sought-out presenter, and an inspirational voice for university students – And a desirable coach for royal family members, CEOs, high-ranked consultants and organizations such as: Emirates, Hermes, Adnoc, Dubai Tourism and Audi – Andreea was known as “the shy little girl with selective mutism.” Seeking a fresh start, Andreea moved from Romania to the UAE at the age of 19 to follow her big dream of becoming a model. Working as a model for years boosted Andreea's confidence and pushed her to follow her next big dream – being a presenter. Pooling in her 15+ years of experience, Andreea has dedicated her life to helping individuals build their brand, presentation skills and confidence, to levels that are unimaginable. Here are the highlights of this episode: 2:10 Andreea's ideal Client: I love helping the super busy CEO, the entrepreneur who wants to solve the latest problems, the managers who have so much on their hands, and the last thing that they want to worry about is memorizing their presentation or how they can structure it. I am thrilled to help people who want to take center stage, who want to talk on the TEDx stage or any stage and share their ideas in the world. So, when someone doesn't have time to structure a presentation and they don't have time to memorize it which is a big problem, I come in handy to help the CEO and entrepreneur to do that very quickly and efficiently. 3:02 Problem Andreea helps solve: Lack of time, immense stage fright which is common; more than 75% of the world population doesn't like to be expose while speaking live on a platform or in a podcast. Because they don't have time to reflect on what are their values, what is their overall mission in life, what is that that they want to do in life. Because they're busy with doing life, they don't have a structure or they don't have their ideas in order. So, when it comes to speaking on stage, they feel like someone is testing them. In fact, the audience wants to learn, be inspired, have novelty from them. The biggest thing that blocks people from expressing themselves is fear of being judge and not having time to organize their ideas and thoughts. 4:19 Typical symptoms that clients do before reaching out to Andreea: The biggest one is hesitation; avoiding to take center stage, avoiding to go on a meeting and say "I have some fresh ideas, I would like to share them with you." Lack of courage, to speak your mind, or to contribute to a business meeting. Hesitation to say "I will show up in front of the media.. I will speak live on Facebook.. I will be the brand ambassador for my company today." They doubt that they are not able to do so, simply because they haven't tried. So, the symptoms would be hesitation and this is something that fuels me to go on LinkedIn, to go on all social media platforms and give lots of emotional and logical reasons to more entrepreneurs to show up, or choose to show up, and have an online presence. Because really, we need to be present in order for us to call in our tribe. 5:42 What are some of the common mistakes that folks make before finding Andreea and her solution: If they lack feedback from a professional, it's almost as if you will go to anybody else to ask for advice but they are not certified. If you want to know better if you should do a surgery, say you don't like your nose, your lips, or your face structure, you don't just ask your friend for their opinion, you actually booked in a session with an aesthetic doctor who understands symmetry and mathemat...

Not only does he represent the best of gaming and pop culture to his million strong fans on the internet, but now works with the likes of Samsung, PlayStation Middle East and Dubai Tourism. More importantly, he’s a regular at Esquire events and – just last year – was named one of the Middle East’s biggest influencers by our brand. He’s represented by ITP Live, and is often called on to lead panel discussions and events around the business of influence.
