*Paging miss Armas* Ok girl, this book was fun and the tone was quick and poppy. I loved the story, the character growth of Josie being a people pleaser and then standing up for herself was perfect. Matthew was clever and protective, it was adorable. Overall- would recommend!

Adalyn Reyes is the daughter of the owner of the Miami Flames soccer team and she recently went viral knocking the head off her mascot mid game. She is sent to Green Oaks North Carolina for a mystery mission while her dad deals with the repercussions of her fame. Cameron Caldoni is an abruptly retired soccer who is hiding out in Green Oaks for an unknown reason. While Adalyn thinks she has booked the same house that Cameron is currently renting, she actually rented the run down cabin located on the same property and finds herself in charge of the youth soccer team he is coaching for the town Mayor/barista/Bartender Josie. This is a grumpy meets grumpy, enemy to loves, forced proximity love story. Cameron is dealing with a traumatic event in his past that made him run and Adalyn has always been seen as a frigid ice queen who's only life goal was pleasing her never pleased father and taking over the Miami Flames one day. They help each other come to terms with their buried turmoil. Our podcast is intended for those 18+ as it does contain mention of mature content. Please listen, like, review and share our episodes ! Sarah has a new book out, so as is tradition for our last episode of the season, Jen is playing host, and Sarah is playing guest, and we're talking about this gorgeous cover, about secrets and power, about Exasperated Man vibes, about characters having to learn lessons, about writing propulsive stories, about how bored Sarah gets by ballrooms and about how fun it is to write in a big fictional, fantasy world. Jen talks about how Bruce Springsteen understands romance novels better than most people. It's mostly a spoiler free episode, but you might prefer to finish your read before listening. Enjoy! And don't miss the first two chapters of the magnificent Knockout audiobook, narrated by the incomparable Mary Jane Wells, at the end of the episode! If you still haven't got a copy of Knockout, you can get it signed, with exclusive FM swag, from Book Club Bar in NYC, or at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, or Apple Books, or in print from your local independent bookseller. If you want more Fated Mates in your life, you are welcome at our Patreon, which comes with an extremely busy and fun Discord community! After a long drought, Book Expectations is back with another book review! Today we'll be discussing "The American Roommate Experiment" by Elena Armas, which is an adorable (if not cuter) sequel to "The Spanish Love Deception". We fantasize about our dream dates and bitterly reflect on how unrealistic Lucas Martín is. Not only does "The American Roommate Experiment" feed our delusional hearts but it also opens the door for discussions about studying abroad, attractive accents, and somehow BTS. As mentioned in the episode, be sure to listen to our book-inspired playlists on Spotify: Book Expectations. We hope you enjoy this fun episode and we'll try to post more often again!

In this episode, we discuss The American Roommate Experiment by Elena Armas. New romance writer Rosie moves into her bestie's empty apartment to avoid being crushed to death by the bathroom ceiling in her own apartment. Bestie is on her honeymoon, so Rosie can't ask her for permission, but assumes it's fine. While there, she meets bestie's cute older cousin Lucus, who she's had an online crush on for months. Unlike her, he is supposed to be there. Since neither Rosie nor Lucas want the other to be out of a place to stay, they agree to cohabitate as roommates until Rosie's apartment is fixed. It is under this not-crumbling roof that they devise a plan to help Rosie out of her romance writer's block by engaging in dating experiments. When it works to inspire her, she and Lucus are left wondering if they can truly believe in the results. One of my TOP FAVORITE books now!! Seriously the chemistry between these two characters is off the chart and it really sucked me into the story of them! "Rosie Graham has a problem. A few, actually. She just quit her well paid job to focus on her secret career as a romance writer. She hasn't told her family and now has terrible writer's block. Then, the ceiling of her New York apartment literally crumbles on her. Luckily she has her best friend Lina's spare key while she's out of town. But Rosie doesn't know that Lina has already lent her apartment to her cousin Lucas, who Rosie has been stalking—for lack of a better word—on Instagram for the last few months. Lucas seems intent on coming to her rescue like a Spanish knight in shining armor. Only this one strolls around the place in a towel, has a distracting grin, and an irresistible accent. And then he proposes an outrageous experiment to bring back her literary muse and meet her deadline: He'll take her on a series of experimental dates meant to jump-start her romantic inspiration. Rosie has nothing to lose. Her silly, online crush is totally under control—but Lucas's time in New York has an expiration date, and six weeks may not be enough, for either her or her deadline."

Please enjoy as Morgan and Sam sit down and talk about going to book jail, wanting to be friends with a writer, and falling in love with a dog named taco. This book follows Rosie, who has just quit her job to become a romance novelist since her first published book has become a huge success, the issue now is that she is having a hard time finding inspiration for her next book. That is when the celling of her apartment collapses making her place unlivable, so she does what any other bestie would do. She collects all her stuff and goes over to Lena's apartment that is empty due to her being out of town. What she doesn't count on is a stranger trying to come into the apartment at night, who just so happen to have a key to the apartment. In comes Lucas, Lena's cousin who is staying at her apartment, who just so happen to be the same cousin that Rosie has been stalking online and has a huge crush on. When Lucas, offers Rosie to stay with him until she can find affordable temporary housing she agree but things get a bit complicated when he proposes something outrageous, in order for her to get inspired to start writing again. Go on dates with him, but things get complicated when feelings starts growing, but Lucas can only stay in New York so much time, and it may not be enough for either of them. Tune in as Torry (Ready to Be Petty) visits the show to cover The Spanish Love Deception, the 2021 contemporary romance by debut author Elena Armas. Having originally been self-published by Armas and won the Goodsreads Choice Award for Best Debut Novel of 2021, TSLD's enemies-to-lovers/grumpy x sunshine/fake dating/slow burn love story between engineering coworkers Catalina Martín and Aaron Blackford has enjoyed plenty of BookTok fame over the past year. Does it hold up for Arthur and Torry? In addition, they climb up on their soapboxes for issues like sexism and fatphobia, question the necessity of bachelor auctions, and reopen the previous episode's chat about Twilight's Cultural Touchstone status before segueing into the infamy of Game of Thrones.
