Midlife is being redefined at a moment when women are questioning outdated narratives around aging, productivity, and worth. In this episode, Kara Duffy sits down with Dr. Heidi Lescanec, Naturopathic Doctor and creator of the Pink Zones, to explore why menopause is not a crisis, but a recalibration - biologically, emotionally, and culturally. Heidi shares insights from her 20+ years in women's hormone health and her global research into communities where women thrive as they age with vitality and reverence. Together, they unpack the nervous system's role in longevity, the rewiring of the female brain during perimenopause, the research gaps in women's healthcare, and why middle-aged women are emerging as a powerful cultural and political force. In this episode of The Health Advocates, we break down one of the most pivotal and controversial ACIP meetings in recent history. The CDC’s vaccine advisory committee voted to roll back the universal hepatitis B birth dose, a policy that has protected newborns from chronic liver disease for more than three decades. We explain what ACIP decided, why the changes were not based on new scientific evidence, and how misinformation and ideological viewpoints shaped the discussion. We also explore the real-world consequences for families, clinicians, and health systems. From confusing new recommendations to unnecessary blood tests to disruptions in the overall childhood immunization schedule, these changes will make it harder for parents to access safe, routine preventive care. But the meeting also revealed something hopeful: strong advocacy — from medical societies, public health experts, grassroots organizers, and patient groups — helped prevent even more extreme proposals from becoming policy. Finally, we discuss what comes next as ACIP reviews additional childhood vaccines and how advocates, clinicians, and community members can stay engaged to protect science-based immunization policy.Contact Our HostSteven Newmark, Chief of Policy at GHLF: snewmark@ghlf.orgA podcast episode produced by Ben Blanc, Director, Digital Production and Engagement at GHLF.We want to hear what you think. In this episode of Out of the Clouds, host Anne V. Mühlethaler welcomes Zsofia Jamieson, co-founder of The Fertility Class, for an illuminating conversation about reproductive health, entrepreneurship and the power of becoming your own health advocate. Zsofia is a certified Aviva Method teacher, entrepreneur and former fashion executive who served as Global Head of Business Operations for luxury e-commerce group Net-a-Porter. Diagnosed with severe PCOS as a teenager and told she might never conceive, she was surprised to heal naturally through movement and nutrition, and today dedicates her work to helping women worldwide reconnect with their bodies and reproductive health.Zsofia tells Anne about her upbringing in a small town in Hungary, where she grew up during the transition from socialism to capitalism. At just 15, she moved to the United States as an exchange student, an adventure that would shape her into the resilient, driven woman she is today. She shares how she went on to study business and logistics, and how she found her calling at the intersection of operations and luxury fashion.Zsofia then goes on to explain the health struggles that had been simmering beneath her high-powered career. Diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) as a teenager, she spent a decade on birth control pills that masked her symptoms. When she came off the medication to start a family, all her symptoms returned with a vengeance. This crisis became a catalyst for transformation. Through her own research, Zsofia discovered the Aviva Method, a Hungarian practice of therapeutic fertility exercises that she would later introduce to the UK and US.The Fertility Class is a science-backed exercise method for fertility and hormonal health: a guided movement programme designed to support reproductive health naturally. Through gentle, targeted exercises that enhance pelvic circulation and hormonal balance, it helps the body create the ideal conditions for conception. Practiced for decades and trusted by doctors, the method empowers women to take an active role in their fertility from home, on their own time. It addresses menstrual health, supports those trying to conceive, and helps with conditions including PCOS, endometriosis and fibroids.Anne and Zsofia explore the science behind these exercises, which Zsofia describes as a way to counteract the effects of our sedentary lifestyles on reproductive health. The pair discuss how sitting for extended periods essentially cuts off blood flow to our reproductive organs, depriving them of oxygen, hormones and nutrients. The fertility exercises work by rhythmically contracting and releasing the muscles surrounding these organs, pumping blood flow and tapping into reflexology points connected to hormone-producing glands.Zsofia speaks passionately about the gap in women's healthcare, the vast space between doing nothing and pursuing invasive medical treatments. With one in six couples struggling with infertility, 10% of women affected by PCOS and another 10% by endometriosis, she sees The Fertility Class as filling a crucial need for accessible, evidence-based tools that empower people to rebalance their hormones, restore pelvic circulation and reconnect with their bodies naturally. An empowering conversation about health advocacy, the wisdom of listening to our bodies and creating tools that truly serve reproductive wellbeing.Happy listening!Selected links from episodeThe Fertility Class websiteThe Fertility Class on InstagramThe Fertility Class Men's ProgrammeNet-a-PorterMr PorterThe OutnetNatalie MassenetThe Aviva MethodPCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) - NHS informationEndometriosis Hypothalamic AmenorrheaThe playlist from guests of Out of The Clouds answering 'What song best represents you?'The Song that best represents Zsofia (especially on HIGH volume:) The Shapeshifters: Lola's ThemeZsofia's favorite book: Magda Szabo: Iza's Ballad (Original Hungarian title: Pilátus)Visit our website Out of the Clouds : https://outoftheclouds.com/Find us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_outofthecloudsAnne on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/annvi/Anne on BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/annvi.bsky.socialAnne on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anne-v-muhlethaler/Please subscribe and leave us a review ✨ Hosted on Acast. Pandemics aren’t only about pathogens, they’re about people, politics, and the deep inequities in our health systems. In this episode of The Health Advocates, Steven Newmark speaks with Dr. Tyler Evans, an infectious disease and public health leader whose career has spanned the front lines of global outbreaks from Ebola to COVID-19. As the former Chief Medical Officer for New York City and co-founder of the Wellness and Equity Alliance, Dr. Evans brings firsthand insight into how societal structures can shape, and sometimes worsen, the course of a public health crisis. The conversation dives into key themes from Dr. Evans’ new book, Pandemics, Poverty, and Politics (Johns Hopkins Press, August 2025), which examines how inequality, poverty, and fractured health systems accelerate the spread of disease. Dr. Evans explains why scientific breakthroughs alone aren’t enough, we must also tackle the injustices that leave vulnerable communities at greatest risk. From vaccine mandates to climate change’s role in infectious disease, from disinformation to the erosion of public trust, this episode offers both a sobering reality check and a call to action. Whether you’re a healthcare professional, policymaker, or concerned citizen, you’ll come away with a deeper understanding of why true pandemic preparedness starts with equity. To learn more about Dr. Tyler Evans’ book, Pandemics, Poverty, and Politics, click here. #379 In this podcast episode, Guy welcomed Geoffrey Hoppe, a multidimensional communications researcher known for his unique journey from aviation business to channelling entities like Tobias and St. Germain. The conversation explored themes such as spiritual awakening, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in human consciousness, and the concept of global consciousness splitting. Geoffrey shared his personal experiences and insights into the evolving relationship between technology and spirituality, highlighting the transformative potential of AI in accelerating human enlightenment and fostering deep metaphysical connections. About Geoffrey: The early spiritual curiosity of a young man was all but forgotten as he served a few years in the US Army as a Public Information Specialist at the NASA Ames Research Center (Mountain View, California), and then stepped into the business world. After finding his way to senior management positions in several advertising agencies, Geoffrey started his own marketing company in Dallas, Texas at the ripe old age of 28. Later on, he co-founded an aviation telecommunications company (provider of Internet services for business jets and commercial airlines, now known as Gogo), serving as Vice President of Sales and Marketing until 2001. What happens to America’s health when Washington grinds to a halt? In this episode of The Health Advocates, we break down the latest federal government shutdown and what it means for public health agencies across the country. We explain what a shutdown actually is, drawing from past shutdowns over the last 30 years, and then dive into the immediate and long-term impacts on the CDC, FDA, NIH, and other agencies that millions of people depend on for research, vaccines, food safety, and emergency response. We also look at the political stalemate behind the shutdown, focusing on Democrats’ push to restore pending cuts to Affordable Care Act subsidies and what those cuts could mean for healthcare costs. Finally, we explore whether there’s a realistic path to resolution soon—and what’s at stake for patients and the healthcare system if Congress fails to act. #378 In this powerful episode, Guy welcomed back Cailin Callaghan to discuss overcoming anxiety, the significance of lucidity in the world, and mastering self-talk. Cailin shared her journey through near-death experiences, overcoming sexual assault trauma, and the grueling withdrawal from medications. She emphasized the transformative power of attention, perception, and taking control of the mind. The conversation covered practical steps to relieve anxiety, the importance of forgiving for personal peace, and how to listen to inner guides. This episode is filled with deep insights on achieving inner peace and manifesting a better reality. About Cailin: At the age of twenty in 1978, I made a trip to the Lustrous Vast of Quantum Imminence where I was met by the guide whom I had, five years before, dismissed as merely the imaginary friend of my childhood. He, The Daemon Michael, is the source Consciousness from which I spring into this world venue, and he and I operate in a few other venues together as well while my body is sleeping here in Earth Venue. When I met him in the Lustrous Vast, T. D. Michael gave me a life review and a revelation of what Humanity is doing that is destroying their happiness and preventing access to all the powers of their “godly estate.” Empowered by this revelation, and inspired by the Divine Love I became while in the Lustrous Vast, I wielded my Will to literally raise my body from the dead. (It's not hard to do when you know what you are and what the Earth is.) My body had died from head trauma when a stallion had kicked me in the face, knocking me from the back of the running mare I'd been astride, chasing that stallion. My body lay in a pasture with my friend running towards it. As she stood over my still form, thinking I was dead and wondering what to do since we were so isolated, I, like a gusting whirlwind of Will, reinhabited my form, and the body's eyes popped open. I started right away trying to deliver to the world the Liberating Perspective The Daemon Michael had given me, but it was 1978, and the world was not acquainted yet, in large, with the Quantum principles I/We had to offer. In this episode, Guy welcomed Karen Cheong, an energy healer who brilliantly broke down the complexities of our energy bodies and how trauma affects them. Karen emphasized that one cannot force an awakening on others as it is a personal journey, highlighting the importance of self-awareness and releasing unconscious blocks. The conversation dived deep into understanding the concept of awakening, the role of distortions in our lives, and how transcending these distortions can lead to profound shifts in both spiritual and physical realms. Karen also shed light on the significance of embracing our true infinite selves, and the collective shift in consciousness happening in the world today. About Karen: Karen Cheong is an international transformational speaker, writer, champion for self empowerment, and healer who has worked with thousands of people worldwide. After a health crisis in her early 20s catalysed her spiritual journey, she was driven by curiosity to explore the mystical and energetic systems that govern our experience—of ourselves, of others, and of life itself. For over 25 years she integrated and applied deep inner work and learnings from some of the top names in the personal development space, as well as some of the more “out there” spiritual teachers, to a successful real estate business in San Francisco, California. Despite the outward appearance of success, though, she still felt like something was missing—and that is when what she refers to as “frequency work” discovered her. By intensively releasing unconscious blocks she calls distortion patterns, she transformed not only the way her life looked, but the way her life felt. Momentum really started kicking in, and life became so much richer, so much fuller, and so much more expansive. During a life-changing 9 hour meditation she experienced a complete ego-death, fully merging back into the Oneness, where everything is inextricably interconnected. Ever since that pivotal experience, she has been able to perceive and make change at “frequency level,” the level of vibration that's like the blueprint that underlies our reality. In this episode, Guy talked with Michael Sandler and they explored the profound journey of embracing one's mystic nature by overcoming fears and following the pulls of the heart. Michael shared his experiences about the importance of surrender, the lessons learned from his spiritual practices, and the joys and challenges of being an empath. The conversation covered topics like balancing spiritual insights with daily life, maintaining personal boundaries, and practicing gratitude and love. They also discussed the impact of life experiences, such as becoming a parent and navigating professional pivots, on spiritual growth and authenticity. Michael invited listeners to join his School of Mystics for a transformative journey in expanding their consciousness and living authentically. About Michael: Michael Sandler is the co-host of the popular Inspire Nation Show, a transformational, self-help, spiritually focused podcast and YouTube channel, along with his wife, fellow coach, and teacher, Jessica Lee. He is a best-selling author, speaker, entrepreneur, visionary, coach, and the co-creator of Inspire Nation University and the Automatic Writing Experience online course. Having been a world-class athlete and coach, competing at the international level in cycling, along with being a competitive speed skater, Ironman triathlete, and runner, Michael has applied those same training skills to being a life coach to teachers, leaders, and visionaries. He is a life-long meditation practitioner and meditation teacher. Two near-death accidents led to the conception of the Inspire Nation show, the creation of the Automatic Writing Experience, and the writing of this book. These devastating accidents led Michael to a much deeper understanding about the world, of Spirit, and of our connection to something greater than ourselves. He calls this “getting the big picture” and from that this book emerged. Once driven purely by performance and results as an endurance athlete, Michael survived the near-fatal accidents that cracked his heart open and helped him discover a kinder, gentler way of moving through life, one that arguably makes an even greater impact on others and the planet. That's what he calls being an open-hearted warrior, and to his mission to elevate consciousness, shift humanity, and help people truly discover their greatest self. Despite twin titanium femurs and hips, as a result of the accidents, he continues to run, skate, bike, and play in the mountains or explore the world with Jessica, their daughter Hana, three kitty cats, along with Roo Roo the Wonder Rooster, always in prayer, always connected to Spirit. In this episode of The Health Advocates, we unpack a turbulent week in public health. The CDC’s Vaccine Advisory Committee (ACIP), now reshaped under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., met to debate changes to the COVID-19, MMRV, and Hepatitis B vaccine recommendations. Despite heated rhetoric and process irregularities, the committee ultimately kept broad access to COVID-19 vaccines — a short-term win for patients and a reminder that advocacy pressure works. We also break down President Trump’s recent claims linking Tylenol use during pregnancy to autism, and his renewed suggestion of a connection between vaccines and autism. We review what the science actually shows, what public health experts are warning about, and what patients and families should know moving forward.Tune in for clarity on a confusing week — and why these debates matter for access, trust, and the future of public health. The FDA has narrowed eligibility to older adults and people with high-risk conditions, while major medical societies are urging broader access — and insurance companies are waiting for new guidance from ACIP, the advisory committee that’s been reshaped by RFK Jr. In this episode of The Health Advocates, host Steven Newmark explains who qualifies as high-risk, what “off-label” vaccination means, how coverage is likely to work, and what parents, pregnant people, and adults should know heading into the fall season. Susan shares her deeply personal connection to breast cancer, having both lost grandmothers to the disease and supporting her sister through her own diagnosis. Drawing from years of experience in healthcare and her own journey navigating high-risk screenings, Susan gets candid about the gaps in breast health education, especially around dense breast tissue, and underscores the importance of self-advocacy, persistence, and community support. Together, Lisa and Susan break down the barriers that so many women face, discussing why knowing your breast density matters, why speaking up in the doctor's office can be lifesaving, and the simple yet powerful actions—like sharing information and writing to lawmakers—that can make a difference. Whether you're a survivor, advocate, healthcare professional, or just searching for honest conversations about women's health, this episode is packed with insight, hope, and practical advice for taking charge of your wellbeing.
