Adam Bryant is the Managing Director of Merryck & Co., a senior leadership development and executive mentoring firm. Prior to joining Merryck, Adam worked for 30 years as a journalist, including 18 years as a reporter, editor, and columnist at The New York Times. Adam cites the most common pitfall leaders face. “In terms of leader challenges, the biggest one is the gap between how clear something is in their own head versus how clear it is to everybody else.”         Sponsored by...   Cultivate Grit. [7:10] This book is not just for CEOs! This is a book for leaders. [9:10] The simplest questions are often the hardest to answer. [10:15] A lot of leaders think they understand strategy, but actually, we each define strategy completely differently and it's not so clear what it really means. [11:35] A leader's job is often to just explain to people where they're headed. Almost like answering questions the way little children have in the backseat of a long car ride. [12:15] Your strategy might seem clear to you, but to your team, it's not. It's important to constantly check in and double-check that everyone understands where we're headed. [13:15] We love simple answers to complex problems, but that rarely works the way we need it to. [15:00] New leaders are confused. They don't know how to be. [17:15] Leadership looks so simple on paper, but the moment you're in the field and practicing it on real people, the results really do vary. [19:40] Leadership has gotten harder. Adam explains why. [24:15] Adam recommends some of the best ways leaders should be thinking about strategy. [25:15] Here's a quick one-page exercise you can do to really narrow your focus and get everyone centered on strategy. [27:35] We're losing the beauty of writing. Everything seems to be so quick and bullet-pointed. [32:00] In Adam's experience, a lot of leadership teams are simply too close to their business and are not able to see their own downfalls because they view themselves as the “expert.” [35:45] Leaders really need to take some priority and time off just to think about the big picture. They need to step away from being in the business. [38:25] Adam wonders why CEO tenures are so short. [41:35] Leaders are often good at solving problems, but it doesn't appear that many are rewarded for preventing problems from occurring in the first place. [43:35] Adam talks about “the art of the good dumb question.” [46:35] Listener challenge: Who is the best listener you know? Listening well is a lost art and a very underrated leadership skill.   Quotable Quotes   “There are challenges that all leaders face that are similar regardless of their rank.” “We tend to focus on really simple questions, but what I've come to understand about business and leadership, the simplest questions are the hardest.”   “In terms of the challenges people have, the biggest one for leaders is very often there is a gap between how clear something is in their own head vs. how clear it is to everybody else.” “Leadership is so dynamic and this is part of the trap of leadership. In these theoretical frameworks, it makes a lot of sense, but 30 seconds later you encounter human beings.”   Resources Mentioned Sponsored by: Pass-life.com. Coupon Code: Duty. A LIVING HOPE  1Corinthians 13:13 So now faith, hope, and love abide (remain, continue eternally), these three; but the greatest of these is love. The greatest of these is love – beginning with God’s love for us, because it causes the faith and the hope to exist. God’s love is the beginning and end of all things. That is the source of the hope that we can live in at all times. That is the reality of a living hope. Everybody needs some kind of hope Everybody on the planet goes through difficult circumstances and situations of uncertainty and danger and loss, and some people make it through better than others. Those who do best in coming through these experiences are those who have clung on to some kind of hope.  So where do people generally find this regular kind of hope?  The answer is they find something or someone, perhaps even themselves, to believe in, and our natural skills and experience can give us hope or confidence, for a while at least. And in this world there are many random things on offer to believe in and it can seem like a guessing game because the certainty of a person’s hope depends upon the reliability and credibility of what they believe in, and nothing in this world is certain, or lasts forever. There are also superstitious and religious teachings that Paul cautions the Church about, to not be ‘tossed to and fro and carried about by every wind of teaching, by human cunning, or devices {the word for that is kubeia = rolling the dice – what are your chances with this one?}… Ephesians 4:13) Some new method on the internet maybe, about how to get God to answer your prayer – These things just lead to disappointment, and there’s too much of that. I believe that the need that God desires to meet in each of us, is to be drawn closer to him - rather than just for a sincere cause - no matter how righteous it may seem to that person. (We will get to prayer later)  A certain hope However for a Christian, life cannot be a random guessing game. Our hope is based on our faith in God’s loving goodness toward us.   Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the basis (hypostasis – basis – that which undergirds something and causes it to stand) of things hoped for, the assurance of unseen things (things=pragma – activity {of God}). So; Faith is the basis of hoping – the assurance of the unseen activity of God.  God’s love is for you – All the time Your faith is for God - and it blesses him (Hebrews 11:6) Your hope blesses you – because you can now live a life knowing that someone is personally thinking about you continually, working life out for you far better than you can for yourself. That is a living hope that lasts forever. Hope is something we cannot live without, and we need the certainty of real hope as the anchor to our soul – hope that lasts, and strengthens our soul.  Hebrews 6:18 That we might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place of his presence behind the veil, where Jesus the forerunner has entered for us. What is the veil and how does that relate to a sure and steadfast anchor of hope? That veil hung in the temple in Jerusalem in the time of Jesus, and it signified the separation between the people and the presence of God, the Ark of the Covenant. Behind that veil was the most holy place, and only the High Priest could enter into that presence once a year on the Day of Atonement. When Jesus died on the cross that veil was torn from top to bottom and the earth shook, and the rocks upon the mountains round about were split. This was an act of God from Heaven telling us that Jesus was the forerunner for us in entering though the torn veil, and breaking down the separation between God and man from that time on – Through his love, forgiveness and mercy, through Jesus our living hope. Jesus lived each day on earth and went through by that veil because it had no hold over him and created no separation for him, even though he was tempted in all things as with us. He was the first of the New Creation. That veil is called ‘the flesh’ in the Bible  Hebrews 10:19 Therefore, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the veil, that is, through his flesh, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, and let us resolutely affirm the declaration of our hope without hesitation, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.  However that veil for us today is the mindset of the separated-self, called ‘the flesh’ in the Bible. The flesh can generally be described as our humanity in the form of its basic instincts, good and bad, or the ’old man’ or ‘old nature’ that started with Adam when he ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and experienced separation from God. Jesus came ‘in the flesh’ but he lived ’in the Spirit’ and experienced no separation from his Father. Our flesh, our veil, stands between us and the presence of God until we go through by faith into what Jesus did, in making us partakers of his divine nature through his death and resurrection and sending the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The separated-self mindset (the flesh) is a negative and distorted self-consciousness that has found ways to cope with all of the things we struggle with in life. There are the struggles of the past – the disappointment and loss, failures and errors. And there are the uncertainties of the future – the anxiety, perplexity, and danger. Our assurance of faith that we are now a new creation in Christ and the unfailing hope in God’s love and good will for us gets us through that veil of separation and into the living presence of God, where all things become new. When we go through the veil of negative self-consciousness in this way, we experience the positive God-consciousness of faith hope and love in our soul.  How do we push through the veil? The first thing we need to do is to reflect upon the love that God has for us. God’s love for us is not a passive love, it is the activity of his goodwill towards us at all times. Our attentive reflection brings his love into the central focus of the present moment of what is happening. It shifts all the past disappointment and loss out of the way and puts them out of mind. It moves the uncertain future and anxiety out of the way and puts them out of mind. It leaves us only with the reality of the love of God for us – a love that is eternally creative and powerful and purposeful for us  Psalm139:17 How precious are your thoughts to me O God!  This is always the starting point. The consciousness of God’s love for us then generates the faith and the hope. Our prayers It is from this place of faith with the peace of God ruling in our hearts that we bring our prayers and petitions into God’s presence with a real faith in his love and faithfulness to us. We trust his love to attend to our needs and the needs of others according to his good will for all of us. Real hope and real faith operate through the love of God. Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter two mentions two prophetic fulfillments of Old Testament Scripture. The first was from the prophecy of Joel, that wrapped the whole world up in the love of God because the Holy Spirit would be poured out upon ALL flesh, which means that humanity is now ‘In Christ’, not just ‘In Adam’. The second was from Psalm 16 that wrapped the whole world up in a living hope like David had, who was able to dwell in the presence of God because of the hope of God’s love in his heart. Psalm 16:7 My heart instructs me in the night seasons. I see the LORD always before my face, for He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my speech was glad; Moreover my soul also will rest in hope. You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’ Pentecost was the first great move of God’s Spirit coming to humanity and making history in the Earth, causing us to become a New Creation. There have been many outpourings of the Holy Spirit since, and I pray that this new and certain hope in the love of God for us is going to be the essence of the next move of God’s Spirit in the earth. This is something that will soften people’ hearts so that their souls will be rescued from the false hopes and disappointments. This will bring a sure and certain hope in God’s healing love to us, Spirit soul and body.

1. Don’t let others decide your future. You will have critics, people that give you crap, bust your chops, want you to fail, and want you to quit. Don’t pay attention to them. Stay true to yourself. 2. When you go through a spiritual transformation you will find yourself slipping at times. Mostly because of outside influences, those around you that aren't used to you changing. In Adam's case, someone said “I just wanted you to stop drinking, what is this whole new person now? “ Don’t let others box you in.  3. Lead by example for your kids. Love yourself 24/7 and let your kids know you will love them no matter what. Adam said to his children, "famous millionaire or junkie on the streets I will always love you the same. I might not give you money or agree with what you’re doing, but I will always love you no matter what."  bonus: Meditation creates time in your life you never even knew existed. We can’t explain it or put it into words, but it allows for more space and time…. https://www.adamjablin.com https://www.justinfrancisco.com

We can know the individual stories of the Bible but miss the Great Story of God. The story that makes sense of all the smaller stories and give them meaning. Romans 5:12-20 Death in Adam, Life in Christ Overview: The power of Christ’s obedience overcomes Adam’s disobedience. v. 12. “Just as…” a comparison, picked up in v. 18. “so also…” Who sinned? Adam sinned. We inherited his sin nature. We all sin. Paul may have in mind the sin of all people since all were IN Adam, forefather of all. Adam is the head of humanity, the God-appointed representative of man. Regardless, all people are sinners and under a sentence of death – condemnation. Does Paul mean physical or spiritual death? Probably both. vv.13-14 People before the law of Moses didn’t have the law, So how can they be held responsible if they didn’t have the law? The law makes the details of God’s standards known. There is enough revealed in creation for people to know there is a God and to give thanks to him and honor him. Yet they do not acknowledge God’s glory nor authority. vv. 15-17 Adam’s sin brought condemnation (16) and death (17). Christ’s obedience brought justification (16) and righteousness (17). Adam’s act brought sin, death, and misery – powerfully – to mankind. Christ’s act is far more powerful because the grace of God is at work in Christ. The first Adam’s curse is undone by the Greater Adam’s work. vv. 18-19 The whole human race can be divided in two: All people belong to Adam and and are under condemnation. Those who trust in Christ are under grace. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. (John 3:18) Christ’s obedience establishes a reign of life instead of death, a reign of grace instead of condemnation. (15-17, 21) In Christ we have been transferred to a new realm in which grace and life reign (21). Just as Adam sinned and brought sin and death to all who belong to him (12a, 18a, 19a), So also, Christ obeyed and brought righteousness and life to all who belong to him (18b, 19b) Closing: The greatest story is that God created humankind for himself. He created Adam and Eve and put them in a garden paradise, But they rebelled and rejected God. Their sin devastated the world, bringing death and destruction. God could not look on their sin and corruption and he drove them from his presence. But God had a mission for our redemption. He sent into the world another man. This man would be a new Adam, a Greater Adam. God led him to a garden where he chose obedience to God, even when it meant his death. By God’s grace, anyone who believes in Christ are rescued from sin and condemnation. They are transferred into a new realm of grace and life. “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Cor 15:22) God’s calling: Maybe you’ve been going through all the motions, but realize, you have never put your faith in Christ. “Lord, I have rebelled against you, I need your forgiveness. I believe you sent Jesus to live a life of obedience that I could not live. He died to take away my sin. And he was raised to give me new life. Thank you for forgiving my sin and accepting me into your grace as your son/daughter.” This is the mission of God, to rescue the sons and daughters of Adam. It is the mission of the church to tell of Great story of the Greater Adam. To bring them into faith in Jesus Christ that they may receive his grace.

United Way can help you give back to our community. Here’s how. For today’s video, I couldn’t be more excited to be at the United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County and sitting down with Pat Bartoli and Adam Schaffer, co-chairs of the 2020-21 fundraising campaign.  What does United Way do and why is it so important to the greater Carlisle area? In Adam’s words, United Way addresses a lot of issues in our community—specifically, those that deal with the health, education, and financial stability of families. They’re also a handy gateway for people who don’t know where to donate funds but want to help their community. You can donate at United Way, and they then vet 38 partner programs and 24 partner agencies to distribute those funds to.  According to Pat, this year’s campaign has been vastly different than those of years past because they’ve had to pivot from a traditional campaign to a more digital one. To get their message out there, they’re utilizing social media and shooting videos just like this one. They have a couple of videos out already, and you can expect to see a couple more from them before 2020 is over.  If there’s one thing that typifies the generosity in our community, it’s United Way’s 100% Guarantee. Keen Transport, Allen Distribution, and M&T Bank sponsor this guarantee by paying all of United Way’s administrative costs so that 100% of the funds donated to them go directly to their partner programs and agencies. “To get their message out there, they’re utilizing social media and shooting videos just like this one.” If you care about the wonderful organizations in our community, a key thing you can do is like, comment on, or share this video with your friends on social media. Then, the most important thing you can do is use the following contact information to donate your time and resources to United Way Lu Flickinger, Resource Development Director (717) 243-4805 Text to donate: text ‘uwcarlisle’ to 41-444 Email: events@uwcarlisle.org Website: UWCarlisle.org As always, if you have questions about today’s guests, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. “A hungry kid can't learn.”Adam Russo (15:01-15:03)   There's no one size fits all for school meal programs, let alone with a global pandemic.   If there's anyone who's passionate about the success of school children and feeding them healthy meals, it's Adam Russo and Mollie Van Lieu. Adam is the Director of School Food and Nutrition Services at Prince William County Public Schools located in Virginia and Mollie Van Lieu, who was on The Produce Moms Podcast 100 episodes ago (wow!) is the Senior Director of Nutrition Policy at United Fresh Produce Association.    When schools shut down in March at the start of COVID-19, state and local districts had to make fast decisions about how they would deliver (or if they would deliver) class curriculum and school meals. You may not realize it, but there are about 30 million school lunches served every day and about 72 million servings of fruit and vegetables.    “School nutrition heroes really stepped up to that and worked their tails off in the spring and summer to make sure kids are still fed.” Mollie Van Lieu (6:43-6:55)   Not only is that important to keep feeding the children of America nutritious meals, ensuring their brains are fed for optimal learning, but it's vital to the fresh produce supply chain, especially in rural and small areas. In Adam's school district where there are over 100 schools and centers, they've focused on things like all you can eat salad bars, corn husking competitions, and getting fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers. One of the first things Adam's district did to pivot with COVID-19 was figure out how to keep children fed, provide fresh fruits and vegetables, but comply with new CDC regulation standards.    They've started transitioning to a grocery style supplement box for families to pick up once a week, filled with fruits and vegetables that don't have to be refrigerated since a lot of families don't have access to heating and cooling methods for one week's worth of food.   “We know that kids are going to learn better with proper nutrition, so giving them the micro and macronutrients they're going to get in fruits and vegetables and the whole fruits and vegetables, especially. Having to consume that process through their body is going to keep them fueled much much longer.” Adam Russo (15:04-15:18)   Not only will they be fueled much longer, but their energy will be kept in the right place, they'll be better behaved, more attentive in class and that's extremely important whether they're back at school in the public classroom or still learning virtually at home. The other benefit to providing a week's worth of healthy food for kids and sending it home is they're starting to take ownership of their health. This inturn is inspiring for other members of the family and helps everyone open their palettes up to fresh fruits and vegetables they might not have tried otherwise.    It's important to note that this industry needs your help. Schools don't get funding from the school board for school meals, even though other things like textbooks and transportation are provided for free. Without sales of school lunches, they don't exist or the economy isn't there to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, so if you're wondering why your child's school provides junk, they might not be receiving enough sales.   Profitability shouldn't be the metric to go off of, it should be how well students are performing in class, but sometimes it's a necessary evil of the food and nutrition services of a school. Also important is the feedback you give to these programs. If your school division is serving junk food or it's just not up to your expectations, call the manager in charge and tell them!    “I know that our staff would do anything, they would run through a brick wall to make sure a kid was fed that day. That isn't different across the country.” Adam Russo (25:05-25:13)   These schools want to improve and truly care about the health and livelihood of our students, even if it may not seem so with the lunches they provide. These meals are incredibly important and are a responsibility of us all to think about because they're shaping the health, nutrition and future of our country.    Adam's district is continuing to look at how they can provide self-service salad bars in a COVID-safe manner, and even looking at restaurant style serving options if and when children go back to the public classroom. Mollie, who's done great work with federal nutrition policies, will be advocating for increased waivers, more flexibility and universal school meals at the Washington School Nutrition Association Conference this September and invites individuals like you to participate and help us change our country's school meal system.   How to get involved   Join The Produce Moms Group on Facebook and continue the discussion every week!  Reach out to us - we'd love to hear more about where you are in life and business! As it is in Heaven II We are considering scripture out of Matthew 6.  Jesus said to His disciples to not be as the hypocrites when they pray, but when they pray to address God as their Father.  “Our Father in Heaven.  Hallowed be they name.  Thy Kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”  If I analyze this prayer, I can see Jesus relates to His Father as in Heaven.  He then sets forth the coming of the Kingdom of God and the doing of the will of God.  He sets these forth as coming on or in the earth AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.   I believe we see the picture of this in the children of Israel.  When they moved from Egypt to Canaan.  In their move was a whole different reality.  In Deuteronomy 11 this picture is set forth. Deuteronomy 11:10  “For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs; 11 but the land, whither ye go over to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven, 12 a land which Jehovah thy God careth for: the eyes of Jehovah thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.” God set forth that the land the Israelites was going to possess was not like Egypt.  It was not a land where they were going to toil their own labors.   The land they were coming in to possess was a land that was drinking the water of Heaven.  It was a land flowing with milk and honey, and the LORD’s eyes were upon it.  They had come from a land that was full of work and effort.  It was grueling to a land that was flowing with resources.  They were coming to a life of abundance from a life of despair.  They were coming to the place where the LORD would Himself dwell.  In the natural this is a picture of Heaven on Earth.  Now this is a picture of the natural Israel.  A people that God had taken to Himself to be His people that He would dwell among them.  The picture of Canaan had to be of abundance.  It had to flow of resources and fullness because it was a picture of where God is.  Anytime God is there we will find abundance.  This picture comes to a reality in Christ.  Jesus Himself is the place that God chose to dwell.  He is where abundance dwells.  He is where the flow of God is at.  We find what Canaan was a picture of in Christ Jesus the Lord.  God moved us from the problem, Adam or the natural man, to the solution who is Christ Jesus.  If we could hear and view what Paul writes to the Corinthians and Romans.  “In Adam all die.”  Here is the picture of the Adamic man death.  Now the greater picture.  “In Christ all are made alive.”   Here is how Heaven comes to the earth.  Here is where God’s will is done.  Heaven comes in a man.  God’s will is in a man.  Ephesians 1:9&10 “making known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him 10 unto a dispensation of the fulness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things upon the earth; in him, I say.”  Thy will be done.  Thy Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven.  All things in the Heavens summed up in Christ.  All things on the earth summed up in Heaven.  Here is how Matthew 6 is fulfilled.  Glory to God.

A bit of an epic journey this week. Radiohead guitar tech Adam 'I quite like danger' Cummings is someone who I have had the great pleasure of working with on various projects over the years, but his main gig these days is as right hand man to Ed O'Brien. His path into the music industry was not actively sought, but once hooked, he has worked his socks (and various limbs and joints) off. Always looking for the next 'thrill', he decided to pick up 'Teach yourself Climbing In A Weekend' as he was recovering from a compound fracture of his leg. A broken leg sustained after falling off a moving car, or something equally responsible. In Adam's words from this episode - "It gets worse..." Enjoy.

Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones begins this message by giving out a few tips for proper reading and studying of the Bible. Since Paul began this verse with the word therefore, Dr. Lloyd-Jones draws our attention back to the previous messages and shows how Paul is going to tie things together. In the chapters leading up to this passage, Paul has emphasized that all men fall under the wrath of God because all have sinned. Why is this so? It is because we are all united as one in Adam. Because of what happened in the Garden of Eden, we are all guilty of sin and born into sin. In the same exact manner, because of Christs sacrifice on the cross, we are not only saved by Christ but we are saved in Christ. There have been two great heads to the human race: Adam and Jesus Christ. In Adam, we all sinned, and in Christ, we have all been saved. As Christians, we should be so thankful that we have not only been saved from the impending wrath but we are also engrafted into Christs body. While we were once enemies, we are now safe and secure inChrist!

All mankind is represented in Adam as our federal head. In Adam we all rebelled and sinned and died. But God has appointed His Son to represent His loved ones- Jesus died in our place, representing us as our glorious federal head-----We trust in Jesus our federal head, because God has appointed Him to represent us, not the other way around. Our faith is God's gift to all those represented by Christ.----In hindsight, the necessity that God appoint us a new federal head is clear - because we were already represented by Adam, and he had lead us into the slavery of sin and everlasting destruction.----So we must needs be assigned to a wholly righteous federal head, who can deliver us from sin and death. That is why Jesus pointed out that -if the Son shall make you free, you shall be Free Indeed------It is Adam's original sin that enslaves our bodies to sin and death, and our minds and hearts to enmity against our Creator.----Even if we could overcome our own personal sins, we cannot free ourselves from the crimes of humanity against God wrought by Adam our federal head.----Knowing this truth destroys any thought of self-righteousness, for we would need a righteousness that could be imputed to Adam as our head, and no one is proud enough to attempt that feat.----What we require is to be transferred by God from Adam to another federal head - a righteous and obedient One who can address in Himself both our personal crimes, and Adam's fall imputed to us by his former representation.----Indeed, God has -translated into the kingdom of His Dear Son- all who cry out to Him for mercy-----No longer is Adam our sorry federal head, but now the Lord Jesus represents us and saves us-

Song of Solomon #38 Beauty Is in the Eye of the Divine Beholder

If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, then when the beholder is the Lord Jesus Christ, whose credentials as a perfect judge of beauty are impeccable, we cannot question His evaluation without questioning Him and who He is. There can be no judge of true beauty that could compare to Him who created all things and has beautified all that He created. The Christian who trusts alone in Christ alone for his-her eternal salvation must also trust Him when He says that you, His beautiful bride, ravish His heart with His beauty that is in you. It is not a natural or physical beauty in you, but is rather a supernatural and moral beauty of His grace that He has freely given to you that is beautiful to Him. In Adam, you were ugly due to your depravity and sin. In Christ, you have become beautiful due to His righteousness, forgiveness, and love freely given to you.--We often just see ourselves in this process and struggle with temptation and sin. He sees not only the beginning of the process, but also the end of the process when we will be perfectly conformed to His image in the glories of heaven. The process of sanctification in overcoming sin is absolutely necessary, but as you struggle, your growth in Christ depends upon having Christ's view of your beauty in Him and from Him.

Adam shares why he's excited to impact 100 million lives with his sophisticated recruiting software, and how he plans to scale his software business. Then hear Adam's thoughts on how realtors can start creating passive income.  Episode Highlights:  Adam shares about his positive experience with Gobundance. Adam was a professional tennis player. He began his real estate business by flipping homes. His recruiting software is his favorite of many ventures. They've brought 74,000 agents into Keller Williams through his software, Recruiting Bridge. In Adam's coaching program, they teach people how to grow their company by a minimum of 100 agents per year. With this software, they generate leads and then help the companies with their lead flow. They teach scripts, closing techniques, and onboarding. Adam reminds us that recruiting happens everywhere. The software connects agents to the right people to help them find the growth they're looking for. People struggle with recruiting because of their mindset. When you're recruiting, ask questions to demonstrate value. When you understand your vision and articulate it and someone can see themselves thriving within that vision, it's a slam dunk. Adam envisions this software going into any vertical that has the need for talent. The best recruiting leads will come from your current agents. Dan describes the fun way they got their entire team involved in recruiting last year. Look for the opportunities to engage your team in recruiting. Adam describes his Comma Club strategy for motivating his team to generate lead flow. Adam shares how he generates passive income. There's passive income that comes from doing something once and getting paid for it over and over again. There's also leveraged income that can become passive income. Adam shares how he educates his children about money. Real estate will always be a great investment. Find a great property manager you can partner with and start to build that income stream. Adam provides answers to the HyperFast round. Remember who you are in business with, matters. Jesus Rose so You Can Stand. 1 Cor 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive What does it mean to stand? The most obvious definition is: “To be in an upright position with all of your weight on your feet.” Other meanings: To maintain one's position, as in “standing firm.” To be in a particular state or situation. To remain stationary or inactive,: to make firm, fix establish, To cause a person or a thing to keep his or its place; to establish a thing, cause it to stand 1 Cor 15:45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. In Adam we stand in our humanity and mortality. “In Adam, all die....” Without Christ people are standing but are “dead men walking.” 1 Cor. 15:14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! 18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. 20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive I Cor 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. What does it mean to “think” one is standing. To think is to have an opinion, not necessarily to have God’s truth and promise. Adam and Eve thought that eating the fruit would make them wise. Joshua 7:2 Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the country.” So the men went up and spied out Ai. 3 And they returned to Joshua and said to him, “Do not let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not weary all the people there, for the people of Ai are few.” 4 So about three thousand men went up there from the people, but they fled before the men of Ai. 5 And the men of Ai struck down about thirty-six men, for they chased them from before the gate as far as Shebarim, and struck them down on the descent; therefore the hearts of the people melted and became like water. 10 So the Lord said to Joshua: “Get up! Why do you lie thus on your face? 11 Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff. 12 Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you. 13 Get up, sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the Lord God of Israel: “There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.” There was something in the camp and hearts of the people that kept them from standing up and prevailing over a minor obstacle. What is it in your camp or heart that hinders your stand? Don’t just stand by. Stand up! Do not overestimate your resources and underestimate your stand. Again, as it says in 1Cor 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. Put God’s Word ahead of what you think and your opinion. We are not just hearers of the word. We are doers. People who hear but fail to act miss the opportunity to stand. Don’t just stand by. Stand up! When we have the power of resurrection, we always have the power to always stand. Not only to stand up but to stand in the place of victory. Philippians 3:9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Know Jesus and His resurrection power! His resurrection was not only a past event, it is a present day power for standing! “Resurrection” is from the biblical Greek word: “Anastasis” which is a combination of two words meaning: “up” and “to cause to stand.” Jesus will take you as you are and where you are. Jesus will raise you from spiritual death to new life. Jesus will show you the exceeding greatness of God power Jesus will release that power in your life. Jesus, the Last Adam, will reverse the curse brought about by the first Adam. Jesus will introduce you to a resurrected lifestyle.

We turn to pages 224–229 of Vos’s book, Biblical Theology, to speak about the intra-mental state of the prophet, by which Vos means to inquire into “how the soul felt and reacted under the things shown within the vision” (p. 224). Far too much attention has been given to what is represented by the Greek term ecstasis. The term served first as a translation of the Hebrew tardemah (cf. Gen. 2:21 with Adam and Genesis 15:12 with Abram). In Adam’s case, there is no visionary state. In Abram’s case, there is such a vision (expound the theology of the theophany). But tardemah does not throw any light on Abram’s state of mind. Ecstasis, on the other hand, has a very definite conception in Greek consciousness that leads in the direction of error. That conception is that of “insanity or mania” and was applied to the oracular process—the process of receiving visions and the resultant state in which it put the seer-prophet. This led to a close association between the prophet and some feature of instability—some manic tendency that seems inherent to the process of receiving a vision. Vos points us to God's inspired, inerrant, and infallible revelation in history, which does not bypass the human mind or allow the recipient to escape his humanity, but elevates him to greater communion with God. https://vimeo.com/382475171

In our conversation, Adam was kind enough to open up about his connection to the ocean, how his time working in the music industry influenced his artwork, challenges he has faced along the way, and much more. You’ll want to pay close attention, Adam has some helpful insights and suggestions for fellow artists and parents.  Disaster and opportunity  Do you remember that moment when you realized that you needed to commit yourself to become an artist? Was it a decision to go to art school? Or did you find yourself slowly realizing that you needed to start drawing out your creative side? For Adam hall, the turning point in his career came when he went with his musician friends to volunteer for the Red Cross. In the wake of a massive tornado storm that impacted the Nashville area, Adam and his friends decided that they wanted to help the situation. In a twist of fate, Adam and his friends found themselves at the home of renowned Nashville artist, David Wright. Seizing on the opportunity, Adam peppered David with questions and sought his advice on how to move forward in his budding career as an artist.  Overwhelmed Fast-forward many years later, and you’ll find Adam thriving as a landscape artist in the Nashville area. Adam’s journey hasn’t always been an easy one; he has experienced his fair share of stress, creative struggles, and moments of overwhelm. Do you think that feeling overwhelmed could ever be a good thing? What if you could draw on the enormity and scale of an image or scene that was so powerful that it elicited an emotional response?  When Adam was faced with a particularly busy season of his life, he found himself going for an early run one morning. His mind was weighed down by the stress and frantic energy that seemed endless. Reaching the end of his run at the beach - Adam was moved to tears as the sun crested over the horizon. At that moment at the ocean, Adam experienced something that transcended all the chaos in his mind - it was almost like hitting the reset button. In Adam’s experience, feeling overwhelmed can lead to a positive outcome.  Navigating parenthood as an artist  I love to take the opportunity to explore the insights and lessons that my fellow artists have for their peers who also happen to be parents. Having explored this facet of life with many of my guests over the years, it never ceases to surprise me that while there are many similarities, everyone has their own unique take on parenting as an artist. For Adam and his wife, they found that their creative and professional lives thrived when they were able to plan and schedule their time effectively. Instead of a combative and haphazard approach to parenting - Adam and his wife were committed to carving time to their creative pursuits. What can you learn from Adam’s story? Business Proposal Trends in 2019 What are some of the business proposal trends in 2019 that you've used and that have worked for your industry? Trends change so often that we have to keep track of all the changes to be in the loop because what's new today, may be old news tomorrow.  Adam Hempenstall has been in the web design business for almost 20 years. He started doing basic websites and brochure sites before the company transitioned into a custom software company. They started building CRMs for different companies and have now invested full time into improving their proposal tool known as Better Proposals.   Business proposal trends The most important thing is that you're not just seeing a transition from the old school PDF method but the clients' reluctance to change. There is, however, a massive shift towards people opening proposals using their phones. Proposals need to be web-based these days. It has to do with what everything else is doing. They're not just documents anymore, they're experiences. Clients should be able to read the proposals by the time that you've sent them.  Aside from that, proposals should be sent quickly. Based on the observed data, there's a higher rate of conversion for proposals that are sent within 24 hours compared to proposals sent in 3-4 days. The other important thing is trying to understand your client most.  From the data and stats Adam's company is running, they've observed the following business proposal trends in 2019 that work: Convenience over quality Being quick in sending proposals  Caring about your client Convenience over quality  People favor convenience over quality. This is apparent in the number of people watching videos on YouTube instead of going to the shows. Live shows mean better quality but people would opt to watch it on YouTube because it means that they can watch it immediately.  People want things the way they want them. For example, you've sent a proposal and the client is reading it in his train ride because that's the time that he allocated for it. The client is not going to sit there and zoom in through the 15-page PDF proposal you've sent. That is not convenient for him. He's probably going to skim, get bored, and close it down. He'll make the decision over the price and all that effort of making the proposal is going down the drain because you've sent it in a format that isn't convenient for him.  To beat your competitors, you want to stand out when you're sending proposals. You don't want to send the same ones that others are sending. This is especially true if you're selling software, marketing, or anything with digital elements. You want to show your prospects that you are at the forefront of technology.  If you tell your prospective clients that you can make their website better and more responsive, you won't send them a proposal in PDF form. Instead, you send them a web-based proposal and put a tracker in it.  This will allow you to see the activities that your prospective client is doing. You'd see that your client has opened the proposal and that he'd spent a good amount of time reading it.  You can give him a call half an hour later to just check in on how it was. You're in a good place to speak about it because it's still fresh on his mind.  You can't do that with PDFs but you can do it if you use web-based proposals.  Adam and his team made a high-end proposal for a furniture company. The proposal was great but they didn't have another meeting with them. After six months, the company randomly opened the proposal and Adam got a notification that they checked the proposal. Adam shoots them a quick message just asking how things are going and if they were able to find a solution to the problem that they were trying to solve last year. The company replied saying that they weren't able to appreciate the value of the proposal then but are now willing to talk about it.  This is what tracking can do; this is what a notification can do.  It's equally important to repeatedly follow up after a proposal, but not up to the point that you're putting it on them.  Just being there and being consistent is enough.  Sending proposals quickly We've all had a time where we've completed a proposal quickly and had a good overturn deal. There have also been times that we've procrastinated and done other stuff instead of doing the proposal and when you've finally done it, your client has already gone with the other guy.  Adam's company looked at the actual data of real proposals that people send through their software platform a few years back. Using the raw numbers, they tried to figure out different factors that affect proposal conversion. You can see the study on betterproposal.io/reports in both 2018 and 2019. They found out that sending the proposal within 24 hours after the initial meeting converts 25% more than if you send it in 2-3 days.  Remembering details In Adam's company, they meet their clients on a neutral ground. They have their meetings in top-end hotel lobbies because it's comfortable and you can talk to the prospective client freely. When he leaves, you get to stay, order yourself another drink and write the proposal right then and there. It gets difficult when you give it a few more days because by then you remember very little of the meeting.  All those little things that you forget from the meeting were important to the client and if you wait more days before you write the proposal will lose you the deal eventually.  These include the following: The actual words they used The phrases they used The expressions they made The body language they gave off All those things that you remember within a couple of hours will be forgotten within a day.  Write your proposal immediately after your sales meeting to increase the chances you'll win the deal. #SalesProposal Care for your clients  This part doesn't have anything to do with the proposals. It is more of what happens before the proposal, and it's doing good discovery.  You can't write a good business proposal for a person or a company if you don't do good discovery. You can have the experience but that will only help you so far. You need to ask questions and you need to dig in and get them to reveal as much as they can.  You need to understand what they are trying to achieve. Scratch beneath their surface-level problems to figure out their fears and help them find the solutions. You're changing the proposal into a personal level and by then, it's not only the surface-level solutions of the problems you're proposing.  You are sending them a proposal that truly addresses their deeper concerns.  Care about them, care about the situation, and do what you can to get the truth of their situation.  So, ask the right questions and don't be afraid to get a little bit uncomfortable.  Trying out the three suggestions mentioned above will make your proposals better. Instead of sending PDFs, send a web-based proposal and save yourself lots of time. It's also convenient and it's a conversion booster. Aside from that, web-based proposals are cheap.  “Business Proposal Trends in 2019” episode resource Sign up to Better Proposals website and see hundreds of templates. Romans 5:12 — How can we be sure of the meaning of Scripture? Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones begins this message by giving out a few tips for proper reading and studying of the Bible. Since Paul began this verse with the word “therefore,” Dr. In the same exact manner, because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, we are not only saved by Christ but we are saved in Christ. There have been two great heads to the human race: Adam and Jesus Christ. In Adam, we all sinned, and in Christ, we have all been saved. As Christians, we should be so thankful that we have not only been saved from the impending wrath but we are also engrafted into Christ’s body. While we were once enemies, we are now safe and secure in Christ!

This includes the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, 2009, 2015, and 2017 FINA World Championships, the 2010 and 2014 FINA World Cups, seven FINA World League Super Final crowns and the 2016 Olympic Qualification Tournament. He's helped the United States maintain a number-one world ranking for the majority of his tenure.Following the 2016 Olympic Games, Krikorian was named Coach of the Games by the USOC at the Team USA Awards. And in early 2017, Krikorian was also honored by the Los Angeles Sports Council and the LA Sports Awards by receiving the first ever "Extraordinary Achievement In Olympic Sport" honors.Based on Adam’s impressive resume, you might expect Adam’s definition of success to align with winning, but this isn’t the case.In Adam’s first year coaching the national team, they won gold at the world championships yet Adam described it as one of his most frustrating and least satisfying moments as a coach because the culture and relationships weren’t right. For Adam, it’s not about selecting the best athletes but it’s about selecting the best team and there’s so many variables that go into that.Building great relationships is at the core of Adam’s coaching philosophy and in this conversation we learn about the factors that impact these relationships, how Adam goes about selecting players and creates an environment where people can be honest with others and themselves. We also discuss why Adam’s competitive fire, which has driven him his whole life, can be both a blessing and a curse. There is so much packed into this conversation – in Adam’s words, “Mastery is the journey of trying to become the best version of yourself.” And I hope this conversation helps you get a little bit further on your own journey. This episode is brought to you by Athletic Greens.Athletic Greens is the Most Complete Supplement for a better you. Tony French Speaks

As we have been looking through the Book of Romans we have seen what Jesus has done for us, to transfer us from "In Adam" to "In Christ". We are fully alive and now ready to really live. So, how should we live?

Biblical Theology of the Spiritual World

Explore the consensus view of Romans 5:12. If man is guilty at the moment of conception there are two problems. Jesus is very clearly in his genealogy linked back to Adam and is fully man. In Romans 1:3 we read,“. . . concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh ..." If Romans 5:12 means that the result of Adam's sin is that all men are mortal, then Jesus can be a direct descendent of Adam. The Catholics solved the problem by viewing Mary to be sinless. Another problem is what about the fate of the unborn? There are two options to how everyone gets guilty. One option is Seminole Headship." In Adam" is a natural, biological impossibility but is common language for the ancient world. The other view is the Federal Headship View where Adam becomes our moral representative so when Adam sins, God transfers the guilt of Adam to every human being. Consider a summary of Tyler A. Stewart’s paper, “Fallen Angels, Bastard Spirits, and the Birth of God's Son: An Enochic Etiology (=Origin) of Evil in Galatians 3:19-4:11. Stewart frames the issue: Paul subordinates the Law to Christ; the Law was provisional in God's plan; for Paul, believers who return to the Law are in danger of rejecting Christ (Gal 5:2-4; 2:21). Stewart holds that it is this "negative" view of the Law that is important and subordinating the Law to anything in God's plan seemed shocking... or would it? Consider Stewart’s thesis. Consider Galatians 3:19. Stewart argues in his paper that the transgressions are not of the Israelites, but of the Watchers. Because of the proliferation of evil, the Law was added to restrain evil. Stewart states, Enoch walked with God and so was thought better. He was a source of heavenly wisdom. The Law “was added because of the transgressions . . . having been commanded through angels by hand of a mediator.” Consider Galatians 3:19. Christ provides the ultimate solution to the proliferation of evil. Christ not only fulfills the Law but does certain things that align with the Enoch story that reverse the curses brought on humanity by the Watchers in that story. Consider Amy Richter’s "The Enochic Watchers' Template and the Gospel of Matthew." Why are there four women in Jesus' genealogy and who are they? There are certain things about Jesus' birth, his life, and even his genealogy that are symbolically aimed at dissing the sinning Watchers in the Enoch story and reversing the effects of what they did. The sexual sins associated to the women are rectified by the coming Messiah. The Messiah will undo the effects of the proliferation of evil which all Jewish theology lay at the feet of the Watchers. Consider Astral Theology or Astral Prophetic Genre. Explore Romans 10:9-18. Paul's proof text is Psalm 19:1-4. In the Masoretic Text, the line is the imaginary ecliptic which marks the path of the Zodiac constellations through the night sky. Paul does not do modern astrology. The Israelites thought they could get a clue to what God was up to and how he would act by watching the stars. The early church and Judaism had a negative view of pagan astrology. The problem was that God did not receive credit and that only God can dictate individual destinies.

Irenaeus: Truth, Tradition and Orthodoxy

Consider the phase from Adam to Christ. Irenaeus believed every human is capable of salvation. He saw all of humanity in one category in Adam. Adam represents all of humanity and in Adam, all humanity is earthly – we are created from the ground. In Adam, all humans are created in the image and likeness of God. Adam was made “very good”, but it is not the same as being made perfect. Consider Augustine’s idea of the creator God as “Watchmaker”. For Irenaeus, the plan of salvation was set from the beginning. God does not have to inject something new into the plan. For Irenaeus, in Adam, all humanity sinned. In Adam all humanity died. For Irenaeus, death is actually a gift because there is a consistency to God’s plan. If humanity lived forever we could not grow to be like Christ. What is the focus of salvation? Humanity is not just souls but bodies also. God redeems creation to himself. This brought Irenaeus to a belief in the physical resurrection and the earthly kingdom of Christ. What about the means of salvation? Consider Christ as the second Adam – Christ accomplishes salvation. The whole process for Irenaeus is as “fitting” and “beautiful”. Irenaeus states, “Where there is dovetailing, there also there is harmoniousness, and where there is harmoniousness, there also there is appropriateness, and where there is appropriateness there also there is suitability.” What God creates reflects His beauty and we can see error because it does not conform to the beauty around us.

Romans 5:12-21 One has only need to open his eyes to see that there is a fundamental problem with the world we live in.  Though it shines with the beauty of a rising sun and glistens with the splendour of a snow capped mountain; though one cannot escape the beauty of the vast array of wildlife, as beautiful as all this is, that beauty is overshadowed by the presence of a lurking enemy, poised to take it all away.  That enemy has a name and its name is death! Many today deny the doctrine of original sin.  To them the Garden of Eden is just a myth.  However, Paul takes the reader right back to the Garden and in so doing lays down the truth of what took place; “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Rom. 5:12).  In Adam, through the offence of one, all died, yet in one man Jesus Christ, through His obedience, the free gift of everlasting life has now come to all who would receive.

The Bible speaks of two different classes of people in this world. Those "in Adam" or those "in Christ". We are all born into the first group, disconnected from God, spiritually dead. How can we get from this sad condition to being spiritually alive - "in Christ" ? Today's message makes this clear.

Tony French Speaks

Few things are as misunderstood as this. You are who you are because of your identity, not your actions. Your actions do not determine your identity. The Bible says there are two groups and describes it in several ways: sheep / goat, wheat / tare, alive / dead, In Christ / In Adam. You were born In Adam, and therefore a sinner. Jesus can change that. He can place you inside of him (In Christ). In Christ, everything changes. What you believe about this has great impact on how you life and what you think and feel. Jesus is awesome.

The old covenant was like a marriage covenant. These days we include the phrase “till death do us part” in wedding ceremonies; it was the same thought in Paul's day as well. The idea was that if either the husband or wife died, the remaining spouse was free to re-marry. Death ended the contract, or covenant, leaving the door open for either entering into a new contract or none at all, remaining free from contractual obligations. In Adam, we are all born “married” to the law. The law is still in effect for those born into it. So someone in the marriage covenant has to die in order for the new relationship to be instituted. How did God handle this? Since the law was still in effect, and someone in the relationship had to die, God killed US! In the spiritual realm, where eternity supersedes time, God takes us out of the time zone that we live in today, places us back onto the body of Jesus Christ as He is being crucified, and we die with Him, are buried with Him, and resurrected with Him as He is resurrected. The Example of Lazarus Imagine yourself standing outside the tomb, and Jesus has just arrived. Lazarus has been dead for 3 days now, and “he stinketh.” Lazarus died of something; for the sake of our illustration let's say it was pneumonia. It could have been he had had an accident and had broken his neck, or any of a number of things. But for now, let's say he died of pneumonia, and has been entombed. What does Jesus have to do in order to raise Lazarus from the dead? Actually there are two things: He has to restore his physical life and heal what caused his death. Time On Our Hands? There are really only two things we can give to God: Time and Attention. It is because our time and attention are so valuable to God that they are also the battleground where we fight the world, the flesh and the devil.
