Have you ever looked around and felt that the way you live and work isn't sustainable? It's hard to find anyone who hasn't felt the weight of this relentless pace and the intense pressure to keep up as if this is just how modern life has to be.But what if it doesn't have to be this way? Our culture in the U.S. is burdened by pressures to keep up, excel, and do it all, often without the support systems to help us carry that load. What if we paused to question the assumptions driving us to stay so busy and overextended? Today's guest invites us to imagine stepping off the hamster wheel and envisioning what it would look like to challenge the norms we've been handed about work and life.We can't all pack up and move, but we can make small but powerful steps towards a more sustainable way of living, working, and leading.Kirsten Powers is a New York Times bestselling author and writes the bestselling Substack publication Changing the Channel. Benz was in charge of the cyber portfolio for the US State Department during the Trump administration, where he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Communications and Information Technology. That role included formulating and negotiating US policy on Internet diplomacy issues as well as interfacing with private industry and civil society in the Big Tech space. Prior to that, Benz served as a White House speechwriter for President Trump and advised on technology policy.  In this conversation, we discuss censorship & free speech, U.S. foreign policy including Israel's role. We dive into the censorship industrial complex, the mechanics behind censorship tactics, and the implications for free speech in the digital age. We also touch on the intersection of technology and free speech, particularly in relation to Bitcoin & Nostr, and end on a message of hope for a future of freedom and digital liberties. ► If you got value, please like, comment, share, follow and support my work. Hi Technically Human Listeners! After a long summer break we are back with a brand season and brand new episodes of the show! To kick off the season, we are bringing you an episode that I'm calling “agree to disagree,” with two guests, Robert D. Atkinson and David Moschella, who join me to argue that the critiques of tech circulating in our environment are full of “myths and scapegoats.” That's the title of their new book, “Technology Fears and Scapegoats: 40 Myths About Privacy, Jobs, AI, and Today's Innovation Economy,” published this year by Pallgrave McMillan. The book argues that our era of tech critique, and the impetus for regulation that many critics advocate for and recommend, is misguided, and that our era is one of general pessimism toward AI, in which our society largely overlooks the benefits of this technology. In their words, quote, “These attitudes both reduce the enthusiasm for innovation and the efforts by government needed to spur it.” Well, as the title of the episode suggests, agree to disagree, both on the facts and the merits of the argument! A key component of this show is my commitment to talking to people with whom I disagree, and foregrounding civil discourse with people whose ideas differ from my own. My hope is that you, the listeners, can weigh out their arguments against my own and see where you land. As always, if you have thoughts about the show, please get in touch! Robert D. Atkinson is the founder and president of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF). He is an internationally recognized scholar and a widely published author whom The New Republic has named one of the “three most important thinkers about innovation,” Washingtonian Magazine has called a “tech titan,” Government Technology Magazine has judged to be one of the 25 top “doers, dreamers and drivers of information technology,” and the Wharton Business School has given the “Wharton Infosys Business Transformation Award.” A sought-after speaker and valued adviser to policymakers around the world, Atkinson's books include Technology Fears and Scapegoats: 40 Myths about Privacy, Jobs, AI, and Today's Innovation Economy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024); Big is Beautiful: Debunking the Mythology of Small Business (MIT Press, 2018); Innovation Economics: The Race for Global Advantage (Yale, 2012); Supply-Side Follies: Why Conservative Economics Fails, Liberal Economics Falters, and Innovation Economics is the Answer (Rowman & Littlefield, 2006); and The Past And Future Of America's Economy: Long Waves Of Innovation That Power Cycles Of Growth (Edward Elgar, 2005). President Clinton appointed Atkinson to the Commission on Workers, Communities, and Economic Change in the New Economy; the Bush administration appointed him chair of the congressionally created National Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing Commission; the Obama administration appointed him to the National Innovation and Competitiveness Strategy Advisory Board; as co-chair of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy's China-U.S. Innovation Policy Experts Group; to the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship; and the Trump administration appointed him to the G7 Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence. The Biden administration appointed him as a member of the U.S. State Department's Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information, and a member of the Export-Import Bank of the United States' Council on China Competition. Atkinson holds a Ph.D. in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hil. David Moschella is a nonresident senior fellow at ITIF. Previously, he was a research fellow at Leading Edge Forum (LEF), where he explored the global business impact of digital technologies, with a particular focus on disruptive business models, industry restructuring and machine intelligence. For more than a decade before LEF, David was in charge of worldwide research for IDC, the largest market analysis firm in the information technology industry, responsible for the company's global technology industry forecasts and insights. A well-known international speaker, writer, and thought leader, David's books include Technology Fears and Scapegoats: 40 Myths about Privacy, Jobs, AI, and Today's Innovation Economy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024), Seeing Digital—A Visual Guide to the Industries, Organizations, and Careers of the 2020s (DXC Technology, 2018), Customer-Driven IT (Harvard Business School Press, 2003), and Waves of Power (Amacom, 1997). J. Michael Waller discusses the Marxist subversion and active measures currently being applied to the United States, having now infiltrated to the highest levels of government. Bolshevik programs that initially were meant to destroy Germany took on a life of their own, migrating via the Frankfurt School to America. He discusses Operation Trust, the revolutionary programs like CRT and DEI which have been unleashed to tear our society apart, and Yuri Bezmenov. The FBI and CIA at the time were fighting this, but ultimately failed us. The post-9/11 security state and Obama presidency were key in advancing this agenda. He comments on the potential civil war scenario playing out in Texas. Watch On BitChute / Brighteon / Rokfin / Rumble / Substack Geopolitics & Empire · J. Maria Morukian (Gen X), recognized organizational development practitioner specializing in training, coaching, and facilitation with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), and intercultural competence, joins Yo to discuss trends in DEI, emotions that can be present when leading DEI initiatives, and how “jaggedy” those efforts may appear. They also get into intergenerational expectations and how the societal polarization could be shifting its way back.   Maria is the President of MSM Global Consulting, and an adjunct faculty member at American University's School of International Service.  She previously served in leadership and organizational development positions at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management's Federal Executive Institute and the U.S. Department of State. She has also served in leadership positions at Management Concepts and the National MultiCultural Institute. Over the last two decades, Maria has trained and coached thousands of individuals around the world to build practices for better communication, foster competent and respectful workplaces, and navigate conflict for meaningful culture change. She has worked with such diverse clients as PBS Distribution, the National Park Service, National Institutes of Health, the World Bank, and the Association for Animal Welfare Advancement..   3 Takeaways:  1.   There are numerous emotions likely to be present for leaders when implementing DEI initiatives (fear, shame, courage). 2.   We all want to have a balance of belonging and being recognized four our uniqueness. We want to be known for who we are. 3.   There are complex deeply entrenched systems which have been around for a long time. We have to be willing to see the process as “jaggedy” and may not come out right or the way we hope the first time we try DEI initiatives.   Related Episode: Ep 19, A Model for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion More About Maria:  Maria is a sought-after speaker and has presented at numerous events, including TEDx, the Forum on Workplace Inclusion, the Association for Talent Development, Blacks in Government, and Ellevate Women's Network. **INTRODUCING A NEW DTALKS PODCAST PRODUCTION: '25 FOR 25'** In Chapter VI: "Let me set the record straight" current International Communications rep with Major League Soccer (MLS) / Soccer United Marketing (SUM) and former PR rep/Jack of all trades/"PT Barnum of Soccer" Gabe Gabor takes us deep into the 'unbelievable" aspects of all things Miami Fusion! Gabe shares a few different unbelievable stories in this episode which include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. KC dollar night 2. Lockhart construction workers sleepover! 3. Picking up Carlos Valderrama (and entourage) at the airport 4. Almost not hiring iconic Ray Hudson to do commentary for the Fusion 5. Additional details from that memorable "Saginaw, Michigan" US Open Cup game 6. Accidentally getting the first Miami Fusion coach fired? And SO.MUCH.MORE! It's a truly incredible episode, and we cannot thank Gabe enough for sharing his stories with us. Enjoy! 25 years ago, on March 15, 1998, the Miami Fusion kicked off their opening game in MLS' 3rd season, becoming one of the 2 expansion teams in this ever-growing professional league. In 2001, despite putting together one of the best seasons in MLS history (at that point and arguably since), MLS made the decision to fold both the Fusion and their Florida neighbors, the MLS original franchise, Tampa Bay Mutiny. While MLS soccer has returned to Miami in the form of David Beckham's Inter Miami, much has been discussed of "what could've been?" Had the Miami Fusion been allowed to stay and build. Indeed, what WOULD a Miami Fusion look like in 2023? This podcast tells the story of the Miami Fusion through the voices of those who actually lived it. 25 interviews across 25 episodes charting the good, the bad, and the unbelievable.

Ed shares tips on how to prepare for investor presentations, reduce the use of jargon, and simplify the message. He suggests using the simple message house tool and the "James Bond Start" to grab the audience's attention. Ed also advises to use analogies and stories to bring statistics to life and avoid overly intricate slides. To make the message accessible, he recommends using the Flesch-Kincaid test to assess sentence and word length and to present informally, like having a conversation with a friend in a pub. Finally, Ed emphasises the need to be yourself and show your personality without making it all about yourself.Listen NotesSearch the whole Internet's podcasts with the best podcast search engineThe UnNoticed Entrepreneur BookThe UnNoticed Entrepreneur: Fifty Ideas for your Company to Stand OutThe Marque of an EntrepreneurGet noticed as an entrepreneur with the 19 Dots range of merchandise; bottles, cups, caps et alSocial listening - google alert killer!Generate leads and market your product using social listeningPost-production, transcript and show notes by XCD Virtual Assistant. Almost 40 years ago, one of the fastest growing religions in Japan was officially established. Happy Science as it is known is rooted in the principle of doing good within the world. Happy Science Members focus on attaining enlightenment through activities such as daily self-reflections, giving love, and helping create a modern utopia. This week on The Malliard Report, Jim welcomes one of the key speakers of the movement Yoichi Utebi to the show to discuss the faith, his career as a producer, and much more. “Yoichi Utebi is a producer and world lecturer for Happy Science. Born in Japan in 1968, Utebi grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, and New York City. Raised in a rare Japanese Christian family, he was deeply touched by Muslim culture and the beauty of Lebanon during his formative years in Beirut. However, the Middle East also exposed Utebi to the horrors of war, as he and his family dodged bullets and bombings before fleeing to London and back to Japan, leaving everything behind in a sudden evacuation. In the 7th grade, Utebi moved to New York for 10 years, where he was exposed to friends from multiple cultures and ethnicities. His rock band produced a popular album and gained quite a following in the city before Utebi decided to forego his musical pursuits and return to Japan. After 12 years of experience in marketing and senior management at various American IT companies in Japan, Utebi joined Happy Science in 2010, where he quickly rose to Director of International Communications. Utebi is currently a minister and world lecturer for Happy Science and a producer on The Cherry Bushido.” This is a great episode and Yoichi's outlook is certainly infectious. THIS is the last episode of 20 Minutes with Bronwyn for Season 4, and it is dedicated to recent college grads, wondering what the hell to do next.  This episode is also dedicated to the parents of those grads who may be wringing their hands, also wondering, What the hell is this kid gonna do next?? Today, our guide for this conversation is the amazing, delightful, divine Ms. Andrea Koppel. Andrea is an award winning former CNN journalist, who has dedicated her life to helping college students find careers they love.  And she knows a thing or two about the process of finding the right career fit.  After leaving CNN, Andrea went on her own journey of career discernment and discovery. Andrea became Senior Vice President of Communications at M & R Strategic Services – a cause-oriented Public Affairs firm; she served as Director of International Communications for the American Red Cross, and went on to become Vice President of Global Engagement & Policy for Mercy Corp, a global humanitarian and development organization.   All of these roles prepared Andrea for her dream gig: coaching college students as they discern the right career path. How does she do that?  Through her podcast Time4Coffee (T4C)— a virtual library of carefully curated career conversations with hundreds of professionals – in dozens of different careers. (The interviews are on point … being an award winning journalist sure doesn't hurt!) Through her College to Career Clarity online course which is an asynchronous, digital course that helps confused, anxious and overwhelmed students to identify at least 3 job functions and/or industries they'd be psyched to explore when they graduate.    If you or someone you love is struggling in this time of transition, you are gonna LOVE this conversation with Andrea. She's most active on LinkedIn, and would love to connect.   I am taking the summer off from podcasting, but will still be going strong on YouTube, in speaking engagements, and in my Monday missives.
