That tenure changed Jill's life, and gave her a passion to fight for the lives of those pre-born. Jill is host of the nationally syndicated "Choose Life Radio" ministry, on which she conducts interviews with both women and men, all affected one way or the other with the pro-life movement. The much anticipated ruling in the Dobbs vs. Jackson case brought about an overturning of Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 decision that authorized abortion protection from the federal government. In this ruling, our Supreme Court did a rarity - an admission that Roe, a 1973 decision, was faulty from the start, and now the subject of abortion shifts to the control of each individual state and their laws. Many states are already positioned to make most abortions illegal. Commenting on this is Dave Zanotti, American Policy expert who shares some important cautions to us all. Also, from "Choose Life Radio Network", Jill Taylor adds her thoughts and opinions. Finally, the president and director of Choices Women's Clinics in Orlando, Vicky Mathews, talks about this much prayed-for end to federal protection for abortions.
Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist. We had a fascinating conversation about dealing with life changing circumstances, mental health and positive thinking, as well as sleep, and finding true joy in the present moment.
She was a wife and mother, tapped by God to be involved in leadership at a pro-life center. From that experience, God opened up a national platform for Jill Taylor in her passion to help women who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy. Jill's weekly program is heard on over 700 radio stations, issuing a clarion call for life. Her program is heard along the Shepherd Radio Network on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:04 PM.

Patricia Richardson understudied the role of Louise “Gypsy Rose” Lee in the 1974 Broadway revival of Gypsy opposite Angela Lansbury and we will never be the same. We talk about her auditioning for book writer Arthur Laurents, rehearsing with fellow understudy Mary Louise Wilson, and bemoaning Robert Tucker's pissy attitude (I mean, Zan, Nan, Ian). Patricia also revealed to us how network executives lied to her in order for her to sign on for Home Improvement, hosting the Emmys with Ellen DeGeneres (“the worst day of her life”), and whether or not she turned down a role on The West Wing (C.J.? After graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in fashion design, Jill decided to refocus on costume design when an opportunity arose for her to relocate to London and join the pool of assistant designers within the highly respected and busy BBC costume department. It is well known that during the 1980’s and 90’s the working environment at the BBC (costume department) was considered the ultimate place to learn, gain experience and hone your craft. During her time there, Jill went on to become a designer working on a number of the BBC’s Screen One and Screen Two prestigious series of one-off films, including Antonia Bird’s Priest.During this period of intense productivity, Jill forged great, life - long associations with an amazing variety of co-designers, producers, directors and performers; enabling her, at the right point, to seamlessly transition into the freelance sector. She went on to design three films for Woody Allen, Matchpoint, Scoop and Cassandra’s Dream. Her work on The Life and Death of Peter Sellers and My Week with Marilyn was acknowledged with multiple award recognitions from BAFTA, The Emmy’s and the US Costume Design Guild. Further credits include Johnny English, The Full Monty and Sliding Doors. When it comes to Jill deciding if a project is right for her, she explains that there are two prime considerations; the script and the director. With those factors in place, the process of creating the costume narrative and her subsequent journey will fall into place resulting in many months of enjoyable and intense application and focus.www.angelsbehindtheseams.com

We're so honored to have Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor as a guest on our podcast. Dr. Jill is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist who experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain in 1996. It took eight years for Dr. Jill to completely recover all of her physical function and thinking ability. She is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey (published in 2008 by Viking Penguin). In 2008, Dr. Jill gave a presentation at the TED Conference in Monterey, CA, which turned out to be the first TED talk to ever go viral through the internet. TED and Dr. Jill became world-famous instantaneously and her TED talk is now one of the top 5 most viewed TED talks of all time. Dr. Jill was also chosen as one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2008, she was the premiere guest on Oprah's Soul Series webcast, and her book My Stroke of Insight became a New York Times bestseller. In this episode, we explore the brain. Are the two halves of the brain really that different? What is the idea of whole brain thinking? How do you get your brain to do what you want it to do? Can we become more “right brained” or “left brained” if we want to? And we also dig into the personal story of our guest - a neuroanatomist who suffered from a devastating stroke - and how the experience transformed her worldview - with our guest Dr. Jill Taylor. Dr. Jill Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist. She is the bestselling author of her memoir My Stroke Of Insight which recounts her experience and recovery after a severe stroke, which left her unable to walk, read, write, or recall any of her life. Here iconic TED talk has been viewed over 22 million times and her work has been featured all over the globe from Oprah to the New York Times and more. Are the two halves of the brain really completely disconnected? The right hemisphere and the left hemisphere process the world completely differently Whole brain thinking - how to think about yourself and the world in a holistic way by integrating both hemispheres into your thinking process The different hemispheres have different value structures and ways of perceiving the world Every ability we have is a result of brain cells that perform that function - if those cells go away, we lose that functionThe more you practice/use a group of cells in the brain, the more automatically those cellular networks run - that’s true for an athlete training, and it's also true for how we think and act in the world Whatever cells we exercise become dominant, and those begin to shape our thinking and actionIs it true that people can be more left brained or right brained? How you can engage processing in the hemisphere that you are less dominant inHow do you get your brain to do you want it to do? Self-awareness is a KEY component and the first step Get an understanding of how much time you’re spending with each brain hemisphere being dominant Do your brain hemisphere’s get along? Each of your own cognitive minds (left and right hemisphere) have their own emotional limbic systemsWhat should someone do if they don’t feel like they have the power or don’t understand how to CHOOSE which hemisphere to engage?Look at your own patterning and begin understanding how you react to given situationsHow do shape your reactions to negative emotional experiencesThe importance of observing your emotions instead of engaging in them - the simple fact that you’re alive and capable of having an experience of the negative experience is a powerful thing Why is not the question its the WOWWe all get caught up in the oh my gosh, I'm so important - when really we are just stardustThe incredible story of how Dr. Taylor’s own stroke was a profound experienceThe experience of being one with everything that came from Dr. Taylor’s strokeMindfulness research shows that certain thought patterns can transform and change our brain circuitry Is the idea that we are separate from everything else a controlled illusion maintained by the brain? The profound lessons that come from having your entire left hemisphere shut downWhat is neuroplasticity? Is it possible to change our brain?Neuroplasticity is a fundamental property of the neurological systemHomework “pay attention to what’s inside of your head" Learn more about your ad choices.
