Then, they met with Adam Moseley well known producer in the business, who started working with Judith and her brothers on their music which saw some big major labels interested in signing them including Motown UK, Polydor Records, Columbia and MCA Records who invested money into them.Judith is a wonderful singer and songwriter, she continued to write and create music on her own til she started a collaboration with Alliance records in 2017, who were able to put Judith together with some awesome musicians to create her album 'Tell Me My Songs' which was released April 2021. The album has done so well with songs Judith has written and others that were submitted. Thanks in particular to these musicians who played on her album Larry Dunn, Luis Conte, Nathan East, Michael Patches Stewart, Gregoire Maret, Luisa Dunn, Morten Jay, Niclas Campagnol, Noah East, Line Krogholm, thanks to Alliance Records. ¡Bienvenidos a Los años salvajes!." Tracklist: 1-Vamos a lograrlo 2-Lo mejor de nuestras vidas 3-Shut Up 4-La música de los sueños de tu juventud 5-Caballo de Troya 6-Sin mí en vos 7-Lili and Drake 8-Encuentros cercanos 9-Beer Blues (con Elvis Costello) 10-Los años salvajes (con Fabiana Cantilo)

Luis Conte is one of the most heralded percussionists in the music industry, but had it not been for the encouragement of his parents and a three week window of time, his massive career performing for and touring with some of the biggest artists may never have happened. A few weeks before he turned 15 years old, his father encouraged him to leave his home country of Communist Cuba before he became eligible for the military. Luis made his way to Spain, alone, and later found his way to the United States and settled in Los Angeles where his music career eventually flourished. Throughout his career, he's recorded and toured with the likes of James Taylor, Phil Collins, Jackson Browne, Dave Matthews, Madonna, Pat Metheney, Ray Charles, Cher, Eric Clapton, Celine Dion, and so many more. He's also released many solo projects over the years, has written a book, and is an educator. Here to talk to us about his incredible career in music is the maestro himself, Luis Conte.

Luis Conte - Making It as a Top Percussionist with Madonna, Ray Charles, Phil Collins, Santana Hear more shows like this at https://entertalkradio.com/makingit Luis Conte’s genius stems from his ability to integrate the powerful rhythms of his native Cuba with the American necessities of American pop music. His long and varied career has included numerous Hollywood film scores and mega-successful albums with Madonna, Ray Charles, Phil Collins, Santana, Shakira, Jackson Browne, Sergio Mendes, Cachao, and a multitude of other artists too numerous to mention. Born in Santiago, Cuba, Luis spent the first 15 years of his life soaking up the rich musical heritage of “El Son” and Carnival. "Life in Cuba is all about enjoying life, and music is central to that lifestyle," Luis says. "Music is almost like food to Cuban people.” While immersed in the music of his native Cuba, Luis also developed a passion for Rock & Roll, R&B soul music, jazz, and the Beatles. At 15, looking for freedom, Luis emigrated to Madrid, Spain. He soon had another opportunity to travel, this time to Hollywood. In California, Luis stayed with a cousin and attended Hollywood High School, playing guitar in numerous rock bands throughout his teens. After high school, Luis met John Monteallegre, who reunited him with Cuban drums at LA City College. By the time he was 18, Luis was intensely interested in drumming and took every opportunity to play and to learn, drawing his inspiration from a deep source of rhythm absorbed during his youth in Cuba. Since then, Luis has become one of the most respected and recorded percussionists in the world.

He is currently the music director for Idina Menzel. His playing can be heard on film scores, television shows and commercials. He has been featured in a wide range of musical contexts from symphony orchestras to David Letterman's band. His songs have been recorded by Michael Franks, Phyllis Hyman, Vanessa Williams and The Four Tops, among others, and for his own solo CD. He owns Secret Road Studios, a versatile production environment, where he plays, writes, arranges and produces. The music from this podcast is all from Clifford's album Walkin' Into the Sun. It's available here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/cliffordcarter His full-time professional career began at that time as he worked playing Miami clubs with local and national artists, among them Bobby Vinton, the Coasters and Motown's legendary Four Tops. An offer to tour with The Four Tops took him on the road for the first time. He spent a year with the Tops and recorded three albums with them. With friends Steve Jordan, Hiram Bullock and Will Lee, Carter formed the 24th Street Band in 1978. He was one of the principal songwriters in the band, which made three records, played regularly in New York City clubs and embarked on a successful series of tours in Japan. In 1990, Carter began a long association with singer/songwriter James Taylor as a member of his touring and recording band. Carter's long-time friend and colleague Don Grolnick was keyboardist and musical director for the band at the time, and after playing a supportive role to Grolnick as the second keyboardist, Carter became the sole keyboardist when Grolnick tragically passed away in 1996. He remained in the band through 2001, playing acoustic piano and electronic keyboards. He worked on numerous Taylor releases, including the 1997 Grammy-award-winning Pop Album of the Year, Hourglass. Carter recorded Walkin' Into the Sun, his only solo recording to date, which was released in 1993 and described as "one of the most engaging surprises of the year" by Jazziz Magazine and "a showcase for the keyboardist's excellent musicianship" by Jazz Times. The CD, a jazz/pop hybrid, features Carter's vocal and instrumental songs with a top supporting cast of musicians including Steve Rodby, Will Lee, Mark Egan, Bob Sheppard, Luis Conte and producer-guitarist Tim Weston. A favorite of Late Night with David Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer, he has often sat in with the band to accompany the show's guest artists, and he's subbed for Shaffer as well. He has accompanied a variety of artists on television programs ranging from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Saturday Night Live, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, Regis and Kathy Lee, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The View to Rosie O'Donnell's 1999 Christmas special and VH1's Storytellers and Live By Request. Among these artists are Al Green, Jewel, Christina Aguilera, the Black Crowes, Smokey Robinson, the B-52's, Rufus Wainwright, the Temptations, Little Richard, BB King, Lyle Lovett, Cher, LeAnn Rimes, Vanessa Williams, Michael McDonald and many others. Carter has played at star-studded music events such as the 1985 reopening of the Apollo Theater ("Motown at the Apollo"), tributes to artists including Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Chuck Berry at the Kennedy Center Honors, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Sting's Rainforest Benefit in New York City, and Oprah Winfrey's "A Bridge To Now" celebration honoring 25 legendary African-American women, the concert for the 1st Annual Gershwin Prize for Popular Song honoring Paul Simon, and Fashion Rocks at Radio City Music Hall. His keyboard work has contributed to numerous film scores including You've Got Mail, A Chorus Line, The Object of My Affection, The Muppets Take Manhattan, and the recent remake of Shaft. In 2006, Carter began working with legendary singer Art Garfunkel, and continues to perform regularly with him both at home and abroad. 2009 highlights include appearing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland with Little Anthony and the Imperials and Bobby Womack, touring the United States with Art Garfunkel, concerts with Betty Buckley, performances of "Too Hot to Handel" with The Colorado Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and recording a soon to be released CD with leader/drummer Chris Parker. Carter continues to participate in a variety of musical settings from clubs to concert halls around the world, to television appearances and recording sessions. All these of course are his hobby - his main job is to raise his three daughters with occasional time out to watch the river flow. The “Secret” is out! 2013 Grammy winner Gregg Karukas is back with a new collection featuring his signature piano touch, pristine production, and melodies that are both soulful and sophisticated. Organic, funky, and melodic is how the original Rippingtons keyboardist describes his latest, long awaited 12th solo project, "Soul Secrets". Gregg's elegant grand piano melodies and infectious grooves are everywhere; this time around he digs into his roots, featuring the classic Fender Rhodes, Wurlie, Minimoog and B3 keyboards quite a bit. At a generous and expansive 14 tracks and no covers, "Soul Secrets" reveals Karukas as an artist who has refined his sound to be instantly recognizable while constantly exploring a wide range of styles and grooves – from old school soul-jazz, with hints of gospel, R&B and funk to the world/samba grooves he immersed himself in while touring with Brazilian legends Sergio Mendes and Dori Caymmi. The album's debut single, “Elegant Nights” is classic Karukas; it was the #1 Most Added Track in its first week on radio. The live interplay sizzles as Gregg surrounds himself with an all-star guest list that includes his friends Rick Braun, Euge Groove, guitarists Ricardo Silveira, Michael O'Neill, Adam Hawley and James Harrah; violinist Charlie Bisharat, Luis Conte, Eric Valentine, Nate Phillips; vocalists Shelby Flint and Ron Boustead and 21 year old rising sax star and occasional touring partner Vincent Ingala.

Dion Dublin is a retired footballer (soccer player) from England. As an athlete, Dublin achieved much success during his career playing with a variety of teams. Underlying all of this was the desire to make music a bigger part of his life. During one game, Dublin began to formulate the idea of making a new percussive instrument. After retiring from the sports world, and 8 years later, Dion Dublin has introduced "The Dube" to the drumming and percussive world. The Dube is a wooden cube that is available in four sizes, and different colors. Primarily a hand percussion instrument, a player can also use mallets or sticks to play it. Playable on four sides, it produces sounds similar to a bongo, conga, cajon, all on a wooden playing surface. It can be played acoustically, or each model comes equipped with an internal microphone with a pickup that can be attached to an amplifier for those "electronic" gigs. Endorsed by such names as drummer Thomas Lang and percussionist Luis Conte, The Dube is sweeping Europe and the USA as the newest in innovative musical instruments. Learn what The Dube is all about-its uses, its cost, and its qualifications to be part of a musicians arsenal.
