After moving to Nashville in the early '80s, he joined Jerry Reed's band.  Over the next several years Dave toured the world with several country artists including Mel Tillis, Vern Gosdin, Charlie Louvin, Dottie West, Chet Atkins, Vince Gill, and others.In the early '90s,  Johnny Cash hired Dave to play in his band the Tennessee Three.  Dave has said ‘That started my love affair with the upright bass, and slap bass in particular, that lingers till this day.'  Dave worked with Cash for eleven years, and toward the end, he played bass on most of the American Recordings sessions produced by Rick Rubin.After Cash passed away,  Dave toured and recorded for five years with Dwight Yoakam. He got off the road after that, since his recording session work had picked up substantially. Coinciding with this, he was a member of the Don Kelley Band for 13 years, considered one of America's best honky-tonk bands.With over 500 album credits, including numerous platinum, gold, and Grammy-winning records, over the years Dave has worked with such diverse artists as John Mellencamp, Sturgill Simpson, Chrissie Hynde, Taj Majal, Loretta Lynn,  Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, Ian Hunter, Brian Setzer, Dan Auerbach, CeeLo Green, Kurt Vile, Yola, John Anderson, Carrie Underwood, Marcus King, Malcolm Holcombe, Brandy Clark, Joe Ely, Gretchen Peters, Ray LaMontagne, Jake Bugg, Richard Lloyd, Don Schlitz, Faith Hill, Duane Eddy, Kathy Mattea, Rodney Crowell and others.These days, Dave continues to work sessions and play live regionally with a few artists.  He has his own band, the SloBeats, formed with guitar great from Marty Stuart's band Kenny Vaughan, and drummer Pete Abbott from the Average White Band. Dave also regularly books sessions in his own studio, Seven Deadly Sins, located right outside Nashville in Goodlettsville, TN. He is a life member of AFM Local 257 in Nashville, TN.Sponsor Link:WWW.ECOTRIC.COMWWW.SIGNAD.COMWWW.RUNWAYAUDIO.COMBackstage Pass Radio Social Media Handles:Facebook - @backstagepassradiopodcast @randyhulseymusicInstagram - @Backstagepassradio @randyhulseymusicTwitter - @backstagepassPC @rhulseymusicWebsite - backstagepassradio.com and randyhulsey.comArtist(s) Web Pagewww.daveroe.comCall to actionWe ask our listeners to like, share, and subscribe to the show and the artist's social media pages. Un nuevo tema de los fantásticos The Youngers abre hoy para dejar paso a dos excelentes versiones de country de los 90 en el nuevo volumen 2 de los American Aquarium. Kieran Ridge y sus Moonrakers tocan americana acústica desde Boston (por eso suenan como irlandeses), cercana a los tejanos Jamestown Revival que hacen una mezcla de country sureño, americana y música western. Otra de las grandes novedades es por fin ya el disco de John Mellencamp, con colaboraciones de Bruce Springsteen, que ofrece su versión radical de la cultura estadounidense que evoca tiempos más oscuros antes de que naciera el compositor que tiene ya 70 años. Los Lumineers finalmente presentan un disco flojillo (al menos para nosotros) aunque para no romper la atmósfera suave, recuperamos de ayer a Malcolm Holcombe con sus piezas casi acústicas. Y el final newmexicano de Dean Owens también le pega de sobra al ambiente plomizo que parece haberse quedado.The Youngers, Cat EyesAmerican Aquarium, That Ain't My TruckAmerican Aquarium, Money in the BankKieran Ridge & the Moonrakers, The Last One to KnowKieran Ridge & the Moonrakers, Straight to the Heart of LoveJamestown Revival, These DaysJamestown Revival, Slow It DownJohn Mellencamp, Did You Say Such A ThingJohn Mellencamp, Lie To MeThe Lumineers, BirthdayThe Lumineers, RepriseMalcolm Holcombe, Crazy Man BluesMalcolm Holcombe, Good IntentionsDean Owens, New Mexicop { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 115%; background: transparent }

Elvis Costello, Farewell, OKElvis Costello, What If I Can't Give You Anything But Love?Kiefer Sutherland, Bloor StreetKiefer Sutherland, So Full of LoveBen Levin, Love And FrienshipBen Levin, I Can't Stop ItColin James, Open RoadKeb' Mo, So EasyKeb' Mo, '62 ChevyBlue Rodeo, When You Were WildBlue Rodeo, I Owe It to MyselfThe Cactus Blossoms, Hey BabyDean Owens, ArizonaDean Owens, La LomitaMalcolm Holcombe, Misery Loves Company

A week of streamed/ in-person concerts in which all proceeds will be donated as follows 90% to support Amy Bakers and 10% for supplies to make Hope Hearts for the NICU. Also, we aim to collect as many kitted/crocheted infant hats, blankets, and booties as possible to donate to the NICU. Who is Amy Baker? Amy is a mother of two and a passionate full-time teacher who teaches adapted core curriculum at a charter school for kids with autism. Amy has recently had some pregnancy complications, which led to weeks in the hospital and the premature birth of her second son at 31 weeks. Amy has always gone over and beyond for all of her students. We are attempting to do the same to help her and her family during these trying times. What are Hope Hearts? Hope Hearts are small crocheted hearts ( designed by Amy) in which one stays with the infant at the NICU and the other stays with the parent, so that way both parent and child will always have a piece of each other even when they can't be together. Hope Hart Pattern link!! (Will be here) All donations have to be made with a hypoallergenic yarn such as Acrylic, or Cotton!!! Email clevelfourfour@gmail.com to donate made goods/ or drop them off at one of the shows listed below. Amy situation: Amy was admitted to the hospital at 29 weeks, on September 3rd, when she began leaking amniotic fluid due to a preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM). During her hospital stay, Amy received antibiotics and steroids to help prevent infection and develop baby Liam's lungs. On September 21st, Liam Bruce Evans was born at 31 weeks and 6 days after a placental abruption. He weighed 4 lbs 15oz and was 17 in long. Liam has been lucky to have no serious complications from his premature birth. Due to his lungs being underdeveloped when he was born, he has been on and off cpap to give his lungs time to mature. He still experiences occasional apnea (periods of decreased heart rate and extended pauses in breathing) when breathing on his own. Right now he is working on gaining weight, breathing on his own full time, and drinking from a bottle instead of using a feeding tube so that he can go home. The money from this fundraiser will go to helping the family pay bills during Amy's extended maternity leave as well as child care for Liam until his immune system is ready for him to attend daycare Event Details In-person and Streamed   Monday, Nov 8th: Winchester $10 Cover Astral Radio 730-815 PM Cellophane Jane 830-915 PM Grav 930-1015 PM Band's Info https://www.facebook.com/thegrav https://www.facebook.com/cellophanejane/ https://www.facebook.com/astral.radioCLE Nov 9th Beachland Ballroom $10 Cover Eliy Orcko 8-830PM Jinari Kemet 830-9 PM Micheal McFarland 9-930PM Sparrow and The Lost Boys 930-10 PM Band's Info https://www.facebook.com/ImjustEliy https://www.facebook.com/jinarikemet/ https://www.facebook.com/MichaelMcFarlandMusic https://www.facebook.com/sparrowandthelostboys Nov 10th Coda $5 Cover Open Mic all acts welcome 7 PM Jul Big Green 830-9 PM Rubix Groove 1030-1115 PM Band's Info https://www.facebook.com/RubixGrooveMusic https://www.facebook.com/julbiggreen Nov 11th Beachland Tavern $10 cover Lea Marra and the Dream Catchers 8-830 PM Sha Bang 830-9 PM Meg and The Magnetosphere 9-930PM Myth and Company 930-10 PM Band's Info https://www.facebook.com/Lea-Marra https://www.instagram.com/shabangcle/ https://www.facebook.com/megnetosphere https://www.facebook.com/MythandCompany/ Nov 12th B side Lounge Cover $10 Uncle Gnarly 8-840PM FatBack Mango 840-920PM Aj & The Woods 920-10PM Band's Info https://www.facebook.com/Unclegnarly/ https://www.facebook.com/fatbackmango https://www.facebook.com/AJandtheWoods Nov 13th Winchester Cover $12 Celebration of the completion of Spring Fish a film made by local filmmaker Gabriel Xavier lowercase roses 8-845 Austin Stambaugh 850-935 C-level 944-1020 https://lowercaseroses.bandcamp.com/album/titanic-planet https://www.facebook.com/austinstambaughprofile https://www.facebook.com/clevel44

You Marry No Railroad Man.

A special charismatic energy always attends the arrival of La Terza Classe, the old time string band quintet from Naples Italy. I’ve rarely seen people who seem so glad to be alive, on the road, playing music. And they were just part of a gathering tribe of visitors on a rapturously gorgeous spring evening this week. Beloved Nashville bass player Dave Roe and drummer Rick Lonow were on hand. Friendly Mike Webb was in the green room too. My good Tulsa-based friend Jared Tyler was in town to play and sing with Malcolm Holcombe. And I even had my own family on hand to supplement my Roots family, with my wife and daughter accompanying relatives from Texas. So the stage was set for a warm and sunny show at the end of a warm and sunny day. In order: Ana Cristina Cash La Terza Classe Kenny & Amanda Smith Malcolm Holcombe

Ozark Highlands Radio is a weekly radio program that features live music and interviews recorded at Ozark Folk Center State Park’s beautiful 1,000-seat auditorium in Mountain View, Ark. In addition to the music, our “Feature Host” segments take listeners through the Ozark hills with historians, authors and personalities who explore the people, stories, and history of the Ozark region. This week, North Carolina insurgent country folk singer/songwriter Malcolm Holcombe performs live at the Ozark Folk Center State Park. Aubrey Atwater & Elwood Donnelly profile legendary banjo ingenue Lily Mae Ledford, and Mark Jones offers an archival recording of original Ozark dulcimer master craftsman Lynn McSpadden. Malcolm Holcombe may not be a household name to music fans, and that probably suits him just fine.  Among his peers however, he’s respected and revered. Holcombe has shared the stage with Merle Haggard, Richard Thompson, John Hammond, Leon Russell, Wilco and Shelby Lynne. Though his instrumentation is nothing new to the singer/songwriter genre (guitar and vocals), Malcolm sets himself apart with honest and touching songs, arranged and crafted from his unique perspective. Malcolm is joined by longtime collaborator Jared Tyler on various stringed instruments and vocals. Renowned folk musicians Aubrey Atwater & Elwood Donnelly profile influential folk music icons Jean Ritchie and the Ritchie Family, as well as explore the traditional Appalachian music and dance that the Ritchie Family helped to perpetuate into the modern American folk lexicon. This episode profiles legendary banjo ingenue Lily Mae Ledford. Mark Jones' “From the Vault” segment offers an archival recording of original Ozark dulcimer master craftsman Lynn McSpadden, performing the traditional tune “Castle Grand,” from the Ozark Folk Center State Park archives.
