Nick Orser, General Manager at Verato, highlights the importance of trusted identity data in the healthcare industry and how master data management can help healthcare organizations deliver personalized patient experiences. The proliferation of data sources and health record systems makes maintaining a single, accurate view of each patient challenging. The MDM technology can help healthcare organizations access patient data across multiple systems to improve care outcomes and provide effective analytics and population management tools. Nick explains, "To summarize what I'm talking about here, despite EHR consolidation with many organizations choosing to go all Epic or all Cerner, despite health system consolidation where organizations are buying up hospitals and physician practices like crazy, there's now this challenge in the industry that is 10 times harder today than it was just a decade ago." "The challenge is that dozens of these new applications in which a patient's data might be stored that an organization needs to tie together and unify. That data spans numerous clinical encounters, but now, there are marketing applications, digital applications, call centers, joint ventures, telehealth, and home health portals. And it's not just the number of applications that's really hard. It's the fact that my data as a patient might be represented differently across each application. In fact, 30% of stored patient identifying data is out of date, incorrect, or incomplete, making it hard to identify the same patient's data across all these different touch points because patients move and change their address. They get married and change their names, fill out a web form and provide only their email address, and schedule an appointment for a call center that mistypes their birthdate." #Verato #HealthData #MasterDataManagement #WhoisWho #PtExperience #AIinHealthcare #PatientInformation verato.com Download the transcript here

Sustainable sourcing is essential for businesses committed to environmental and social responsibility, but achieving it requires accurate and reliable data. Master Data Management (MDM) ensures that all sourcing data—such as supplier information, certifications, and compliance records—is consistent and up-to-date. This enables organisations to make informed decisions that align with their sustainability goals, reduce waste, and promote ethical practices throughout their supply chain.MDM is the foundation of a successful sustainability strategy. By providing a single source of truth for all critical data, MDM helps businesses monitor and track their sustainability efforts effectively. With accurate data, companies can identify opportunities to improve resource efficiency, reduce carbon footprints, and ensure compliance with environmental standards, ultimately leading to a more sustainable and resilient business model. In this episode, George Firican, Founder of LightsOnData, speaks to Matthew Cawsey, Director of Product Marketing and Solution Strategy, and Paarijat Bose, Customer Success Manager at Stibo Systems, to discuss sustainable sourcing and why accurate data matters. Key Takeaways:Sustainable sourcing involves understanding the provenance and environmental impact of products, ensuring compliance with regulations, and meeting sustainability goals.Data completeness and accuracy are crucial in meeting regulatory requirements and avoiding issues like greenwashing.Managing sustainability data requires a solid foundation of MDM to ensure data accuracy, stewardship, and semantic consistency.MDM solutions help companies collect, manage, and share sustainability data, enabling them to meet compliance requirements and achieve their sustainability goals.Chapters:00:00 - Introduction and Overview01:07 - The Challenge of Collecting Data for Compliance and Reporting02:31 - Data Accuracy and Completeness in the Supply Chain05:23 - Regulations and the Demand for Transparent and Complete Data08:41 - The Role of Master Data Management in Sustainability15:51 - How Data Management Technology Solutions Help Achieve Sustainability Goals21:02 - The Need to Start Early and Engage with Data Management Solutions22:01 - Conclusion and Call to Action

To be clear, she was only representing her own views on the episode. We use the phrase MDM to mean master data management throughout the episode. Some key takeaways/thoughts from Sue's point of view:At the end of the day, if you want to do data governance well, it's about the people. Go talk to them, find out their specific needs and desires and work to tailor your language - and presumably your application of policies when possible - to their situations. People want good data, help them get there!Relatedly, get good at telling stories about data work. Get people to lean in and get them involved. Personalize your communication! While policies and standards are crucial, they are about creating better data for the organization. Try to leverage them as a carrot instead of a stick.?Controversial?: Don't talk about someone owning data. That's scary for most. Find ways to get them excited about owning the data without making it scary by using different phrasing. The key to doing data governance well is getting people to care. We need them to care about the data because others have to use it. And that means the people are the most important focus.Data governance is too focused on 'governance' and that means oversight. The word governance has a bad connotation for a reason - it makes many potential allies uncomfortable. So governance folks have to really work to make it less scary.Don't focus so much on the data aspects of data work when talking with stakeholders. It's about achieving outcomes through data, not data work itself. Focus on what gets your business partners excited and that's (unfortunately) usually not...

In today's data-driven world, staying aware of the latest trends and strategies in data management and innovation is essential for success. Unfortunately, many chief data officers (CDOs) and business leaders must understand what other organizations and industries are doing with data. However, with this awareness and a basic curiosity, CDOs may be able to innovate and improve their business operations. On this Tech Talks Daily podcast episode, Roman Kucera discusses this issue and the importance of staying informed about other companies' data strategies and practices. He emphasizes that while there are rarely entirely new ideas for using data, there are often opportunities to borrow and adapt ideas from others. I also learn more about the story behind Ataccama. Recently spun off from Adastra, the company also secured $150 million in funding from Bain Capital to fuel its worldwide expansion. As a provider of master data management (MDM) and data quality solutions, Ataccama understands the importance of high-quality data that is appropriately managed. We discuss the need for data quality and proper management, as well as the art of telling effective stories using data (hint: pie charts aren't always the answer). With the right strategies and tools in place, businesses can turn data into a powerful asset for driving growth and innovation.
