In this episode we are back with a treasure trove of Disneyland Paris insights  — all inspired by a very special email from listeners across the pond in the USA. (Shoutout to our international Disney fans !) Whether you're a first-timer or just someone who enjoys obsessively researching the latest park details, this episode might be your new best friend. Think of it as a Disney trip GPS, but with more scope for bad jokes and fewer reroutes.  What's on the itinerary?    - Getting there and being there: from airport hacks (TGV or bust!) to navigating the park like a pro.  - When to visit and dodge the crowds (hint: Ooparc is your new best friend).  - Dining decently: why some restaurants are worth the reservation, but maybe raise your DLP snack game.  - The scoop on Walt Disney Studios — because who doesn't like a peek behind the walls?  - Do-Not-Miss DLP attractions: from the legendary dragon under Sleeping Beauty's castle to Big Thunder Mountain - just don't miss your Premiere Access slot ! - Using the Disneyland Paris app: for the full experience don't let your phone run empty. Extra pro tip: Beth's official review of DLP coffee? It's not as good as Joffrey's at WDW — but hey, you take what you get! So grab your mouse earphones, as we hope to turn your Disneyland Paris trip from “meh” to “MAGICAL!” Remember, a little planning + a lot of Nutella = the perfect DLP day. Hit subscribe, leave us a review, and share the magic — because Disneyland Paris is for Everyone!

On Sunday, comedian Bowen Yang joined other actors onstage at the Academy Awards, dressed in his costume from the movie 'Wicked' -- to praise the artist who dreamed it up. It’s hard to list all the projects the award-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell has been responsible for on Broadway, but here’s a sample: Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk, The Color Purple musical, In The Heights, and Hamilton - for which he won a Tony. On screen, he won an Emmy for his work on The Wiz! Live. And now, Tazewell has an Oscar to add to his list of accolades. Soundside host Libby Denkmann sat down with Tazewell when he was in town back in February, and in light of his win, we thought we would revisit that conversation. He was here for a new production at the Pacific Northwest Ballet.... an organization he has a long history with. His costumes for Kent Stowell's Swan Lake, which debuted in 2003, are still in use. Harriett Gilbert is joined by one of the boldest writers of her generation, Ottessa Moshfegh, to delve into her second novel My Year of Rest and Relaxation. This twisted Sleeping Beauty story is told from the perspective of an unnamed protagonist, a twentysomething art school graduate who, after the death of her parents, quits her gallery job to heal her pain by drugging herself into a year-long hibernation. Her only ties to the waking world are the bodega which she routinely slouches to for coffee, the most unscrupulous psychiatrist in New York, and her best friend, and object of contempt, Reva. We love this book because it's a hypnotic, wickedly humorous character study of a woman who is broken, toxic, yet utterly fascinating. Even if you don't take her to your heart, this character will linger in your mind every time you have a long lie in bed.Image: Ottessa Moshfegh (Credit: Jake Belcher)

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky wrote the music for the Nutcracker, the Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, multiple symphonies, several operas, and more. He is among the most popular composers of the 19th century. But as usual he didn't do it alone. He and his friend Nadezhda von Meck had a 13-year correspondence of 1200 letters. They shared (almost) everything with each other, but they never actually … met. Still, Tchaikovsky credited Nadezhda for saving his bank account (many times over), and also his sanity, and even his life. It's safe to say that some of his most gorgeous music would never have been written without Nadezhda. In his storied career, Paul Tazewell has dressed American revolutionaries, a scarecrow and a tinman, and witches with a penchant for pink and green. It’s hard to list all the projects the award-winning costume designer has been responsible for on Broadway, but here’s a sample: Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk, The Color Purple musical, In The Heights, and Hamilton, for which he won a Tony. On screen, he won an Emmy for his work on The Wiz! Live. Tazewell has two Oscar nominations: One for 2021’s West Side Story and most recently for Wicked, Part 1. His relationship with Seattle goes back to the early 2000s – the tutus he created for Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Swan Lake are still in use today. And Tazewell is back in town with a new PNB collaboration. He’s created the lavish costumes – from ballgowns and dinner jackets to tutus – for the company’s new production of The Sleeping Beauty. The earliest known version of the tale is found in the French narrative Perceforest, written between 1330 and 1344.[7] Another was the Catalan poem Frayre de Joy e Sor de Paser.[8] Giambattista Basile wrote another, "Sun, Moon, and Talia" for his collection Pentamerone, published posthumously in 1634–36[9] and adapted by Charles Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé in 1697. The version collected and printed by the Brothers Grimm was one orally transmitted from the Perrault version,[10] while including own attributes like the thorny rose hedge and the curse.[11] Sun, Moon, and Talia (Italian: Sole, Luna, e Talia) is an Italian literary fairy tale written by Giambattista Basile and published posthumously in the last volume of his 1634-36 work, the Pentamerone. Charles Perrault retold this fairy tale in 1697 as Sleeping Beauty, as did the Brothers Grimm in 1812 as Little Briar Rose.
