Tuesday Headlines: Big day for borrowers as the RBA meets to consider rate cut, new video emerges of Australian soldier Oscar Jenkins captured fighting for Ukraine, and Donald Trump has been personally invited to NRL Vegas round. Deep Dive: Imagine being told you needed to undergo major surgery to repair a torn ACL or dodgy hip? You know what you're likely in for – a few months of pain, some rehab and medical bill after medical bill. But what if you could avoid all of that with just a few injections? The only catch: you have to travel overseas, and the treatment is considered experimental in Australia. That’s the decision one of our listeners made when she opted against surgery—choosing instead to fly to Thailand for stem cell therapy. In part one of this two-part deep dive of The Briefing, Chris Spyrou chats with Marie Cassaniti about her experience, why she took the risk, and whether she believes it was worth it. Part Two is in your feed now - or you can listen here. Stem cell treatments are being offered around the globe as an almost ‘miracle’ intervention promising to help patients avoid major surgeries and treat untreatable conditions. While commercialised and able to be accessed internationally, the bulk of stem cell related therapies in Australia remain ‘experimental,’ with only a limited amount of uses approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration and the National Health and Medical Research Council. So what exactly are stem cells, why are Australians traveling overseas to get them and is it time for a regulatory rethink? In Part Two of this two-part deep dive of The Briefing, Chris Spyrou is joined by Professor Megan Munsie, an expert in stem cell ethics and policy at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, and Professor James St John, Head of the Clem Jones Centre for Neurobiology and Stem Cell Research, to break down the future of stem cell treatments in Australia. Beyond my professional life, I'm a dedicated JuJitsu practitioner and a former CrossFit competition judge. My fitness journey spans 28 years, exploring various modalities and even participating in endurance-based events like GORUCK Rucking. One significant turn in my journey was battling five years of severe back pain, leading me to explore MSC Stem Cell treatment in Colombia, resulting in a remarkable transformation. Today, I'm not only a proud newlywed but also a committed advocate for health and fitness, having shed 20 pounds in just a month and a half. As a new father and husband, my life has taken on new dimensions, and I bring a unique perspective to discussions about balancing a demanding career, maintaining physical and mental well-being, and navigating transformative life experiences. I believe in the power of discipline and positive habits, lessons learned through personal challenges and triumphs. I'm excited to share my story and insights on podcasts, bringing a blend of professional expertise, personal journey, and the joys and challenges of being a new father and husband to your audience. Hero's Journey: “My journey took a significant turn when I faced the relentless challenge of extreme back pain for over five years. This pain, compounded by my rigorous fitness routines, left me with no positive results from medical teams in the United States. One year ago, driven by detailed research, I made the courageous decision to seek MSC Stem Cell treatment for issues including L2-L5 disc herniations, L1-L2 and L3-L4 bulging discs, and L3-L4 canal stenosis. This choice was met with scepticism from medical professionals, friends, and family, as it involved travelling to Colombia for treatment.Fast forward one year, and the transformation is undeniable. A ‘before and after' MRI comparison revealed increased hydration in the herniated disks, the absence of bulging discs, and no signs of canal stenosis, all without inflammation in other areas. My unwavering commitment to health and fitness remained, especially as I embarked on a new chapter of my life, as a newlywed with a baby on the way. The realization that I needed to shed weight and embrace positive habits drove me to action. Fearful that I might not be able to lift my daughter off the ground, I sought the guidance of a mindset, nutrition, and fitness mentor, resulting in a remarkable 20-pound weight loss in just four months. I learned that the pain of discipline far outweighs any regret from neglecting my well-being.” Social Media https://kishar.org (Main Site) Insta @kisharspiritual https://www.instagram.com/kisharspiritual Threads @kisharspiritual https://www.threads.net/@kisharspiritual YouTube @PeaceOnYourJourney https://www.youtube.com/@PeaceOnYourJourney

LeHeal Biogenix is committed to giving back to the community and supporting those in need. That commitment has prompted them to join forces with The Brothers In Arms Foundation and Regenative Labs to provide much-needed services to veterans in the Tampa Bay Area. Through this donation campaign, the clinic hopes to make a positive impact on the lives of our veterans by providing healthcare services that address pain from damaged tissue. "We are honored to be a part of this initiative to give back to our veterans who have given so much for our country," said LeHeal Biogenix provider Gavril Green Goodman, APRN (Combat Veteran and Flight Nurse with U.S. Air Force). The donation campaign is open to all Marine Special Forces and Recon veterans in the Tampa Bay area who are in need of healthcare services to treat missing or damaged tissue. Instead of covering up the pain with steroids, this type of care addresses the real tissue issue. Veterans interested in receiving healthcare services from LeHeal Biogenix can contact Regenative Labs for more information by calling 1-800-891-3452 x1700 or e-mailing info@regenativelabs.com. LeHeal Biogenix in Tampa, Lakewood Ranch, and Lakeland, Florida, offers innovative pain treatments using the latest medical advances. The practice's biomedical approach uses substances like stem cells and platelet-rich plasma, collectively known as regenerative medicine. LeHeal Biogenix provides a nonsurgical approach to healing and long-lasting pain relief. The medical team specializes in therapies that stimulate the body's natural healing processes. Through orthobiologics (regenerative orthopedics), their treatments stimulate growth factors and reduce inflammation, promoting a faster recovery and improved pain reduction. Regenerative medicine treatments are also safe for repeated use (unlike steroids), offering an alternative treatment for joint pain. These natural substances repair or reduce tissue damage at the injury site, delivering long-lasting pain relief. The treatments LeHeal Biogenix uses cause little discomfort and are outpatient, same-day procedures. Good morning from Pharma and Biotech daily: the podcast that gives you only what's important to hear in the Pharma and Biotech world. Roche has partnered with Ionis Pharmaceuticals to collaborate on the development of RNA medicines for Alzheimer's and Huntington's diseases. This collaboration will strengthen Roche's pipeline in neuroscience. However, BrainStorm's stem cell treatment for ALS has been deemed ineffective by an FDA panel. The panel voted against the clinical trial data, stating that it did not show the treatment to be effective for ALS. In other news, John Tsai, former Chief Medical Officer of Novartis, has been appointed as the CEO of ForceField Therapeutics, a UK-based biotech startup focused on developing heart drugs. ForceField recently licensed AAV technology from Freeline Therapeutics. Moving on, eight genetic fixes for inherited diseases have received approval in the US, showcasing the progress in gene therapy. However, there are concerns about the effects of gene therapy on a healthcare system designed around chronic treatment. Now, let's shift our focus to Johnson & Johnson (J&J), which has achieved a significant win in the lung cancer market with its drug combination of Rybrevant and Lazertinib. Patients treated with this combination showed improvement compared to AstraZeneca's Osimertinib. This positions J&J as a potential competitor in the lung cancer market. In another development, Alfasigma has acquired Intercept Pharmaceuticals in an $800 million cash deal. This acquisition provides an opportunity for Intercept to regain stability and expand its reach with the support of a larger pharmaceutical company.A study published in The New England Journal of Medicine suggests that a patient's death in 2022 was likely due to an adverse effect of recombinant AAV used in gene therapy. This highlights the importance of assessing safety and potential risks associated with gene therapies.Karuna Therapeutics has submitted a New Drug Application (NDA) for KarXT, an investigational treatment for schizophrenia. If approved by the FDA, this would provide new hope for improved treatment options for schizophrenia patients.Moving on, an FDA advisory committee has rejected BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics' therapy for ALS in a nearly unanimous vote. The committee concluded that BrainStorm did not demonstrate substantial evidence of efficacy for its therapy, called Nurown. These developments highlight significant advancements, challenges, and potential opportunities in the treatment of various diseases in the pharmaceutical industry. Now, let's talk about pharmaceutical giants, such as AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Boehringer Ingelheim, indicating their participation in negotiations to agree on Medicare drug prices. Despite suing the federal government, these companies feel they have no choice but to participate. With drug prices in the public spotlight, pharma marketers are focused on reframing the narrative to communicate the value drugmakers bring to the healthcare system. In other news, a recent report showed that executive bonuses in the pharma industry pale in comparison to other industries. However, several executives still receive substantial packages. It is worth noting that Elon Musk's bonuses dwarf those of pharma executives. This newsletter also includes links to articles on topics such as women's health as a growing healthcare sector and trends in the rare disease treatment market. That's all for today's episode of Pharma and Biotech daily. Stay tuned for more important updates from the Pharma and Biotech world.

Copper peptide gene therapy also has the potential to restore declining levels of peptides in the body and can be used topically for wrinkles. FMT capsules, or 'poop pills', have the potential to help millions of people around the world. Traditionally, FMT technology was only used to repopulate the gut after an infection, but it can now be used to help with aging and longevity, as well as many chronic conditions such as Parkinson's. There are four functions of stem cells: regenerative, anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and immunomodulatory.

Elliott StudioAustin Attractions Dripping Springs AttractionsDon't Feed the Deer!Whole Foods History Guest:Jennifer Ziegler is a founder of Patients for Stem Cells, an advocacy group that is pushing for increased access to therapies in the US. Texas has been a hub for stem cell therapy since then-Gov. Rick Perry was treated for back pain in 2011 and hailed his results. The clinic where Perry was treated, Celltex in Houston, was taking patients' stem cells and multiplying them in a lab before re-injecting them — a process the FDA said was not allowed. The FDA ordered Celltex to stop making stem cell products, and the company moved its consumer business to Mexico.Ziegler, who was also a Celltex patient, says that forcing the operations out of the country is an overreaction, and that FDA unfairly limits patients' rights to make decisions about their health.Ziegler has MS. The drugs to treat it had intolerable side effects for her. so she sought stem cell therapy. After Celltex shut down its Texas clinic, she traveled to the Stem Cell Institute in Panama.Ziegler said. “It's horrible that it's not allowed in our country and it's not covered under insurance. We'd like stem cells to be available to anyone who needs it.”Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has signed a bill that grants patients with severe chronic or terminal illnesses increased access to therapies using adult stem cells that are not yet federally approved. Priyanka Dutta-Passecker is the CEO and Founder of Healiva, a Swiss start-up focused on innovative treatments for acute and chronic wounds. Healiva begins the process by cleaning the wound using an enzyme invented by Priyanka. Depending on the severity of the wound, autologous or allogeneic cell therapy is used to make new skin to heal the wound. Priyanka explains, "So, to give a background for when we talk about personalized cell therapies and autologous cell therapy. We take a patient here, and from the patient, we make the patient's skin. That means that we're completely personalizing and making the skin of the patient. And this is given to extremely chronic non-healing wound patients like venous leg ulcer patients or diabetic foot ulcer patients. The skin gets integrated on their ulcer and closes the ulcer. That's one of our autologous cell therapy products called Epidex." "We do keep the primary cells when we take the hair follicle. As you may know, hair follicles are epithelial cells that we expand, and we keep the cells. And when they come back, we can make the full skin, the epidermis differentiation, within two weeks. But generally, it takes four weeks. And it's given to the patient once it's ready within four to five days." "So, just to elaborate on what we mean by allogeneic cell therapy. So quite different from the autologous one, in allogenic cell therapy, we are taking healthy skin cells from you and me. We expand the skin cells, and we give the skin cells to the patient. What happens is that it releases growth factors which help in the healing. And there is no rejection because, of course, the cells do not stay on the wounds of the patient." #Healiva #WoundCare #PatientCare #SwissStartups #CellTherapy #ChronicWounds #RegenerativeMedicine #Diabetes #Healthtech healiva.com Download the transcript here
