In this episode of Power Producers Podcast, David Carothers sits down with Terren Moore, founder and owner of MFI Agency, to discuss the unique challenges of closing out the year in a hard market while balancing the distractions of the holiday season. With just a few weeks left in the year, many businesses start slowing down—while top producers are pushing harder than ever. David and Terren dive into what it takes to maintain momentum and close the year strong, while also reflecting on Terren's journey from Texas Farm Bureau to launching his own agency in 2021. Key Points: Navigating the Hard Market & Holiday Slowdown David and Terren discuss the difficulties of prospecting and closing deals as the year winds down. While many clients shift their focus to holiday planning, top producers stay aggressive, ensuring a strong pipeline going into the next quarter. Terren shares his experience of pushing through the seasonal slowdown and how discipline plays a key role in overcoming market challenges. Building an Agency with a Long-Term Vision Terren reflects on his decision to leave a stable salary at Farm Bureau to start MFI Agency in the middle of COVID-19. He highlights the importance of financial independence, learning from experienced agency owners, and making strategic moves to build a business that thrives despite industry challenges. Farming, Business, and Lessons in Patience A first-generation farmer, Terren shares how his passion for agriculture led him to create AgriStar, a nonprofit that helps young farmers get started in agriculture. He discusses how the discipline and patience required in farming—planting, nurturing, and waiting for a harvest—closely mirror the process of growing an insurance book of business. The Power of Niching Down With agriculture as a massive industry, Terren is working to refine his niche, focusing on farm insurance solutions that go beyond policy sales. He emphasizes the lack of agent education in farm insurance, particularly in areas like workers' compensation and the H-2A visa program, where proper coverage is essential for compliance and financial security. By leveraging industry knowledge and relationships, he aims to offer real value beyond just price. Creating a Competitive Edge in Farm Insurance David and Terren discuss the challenges of underwriting agricultural risks, where many mainstream carriers struggle to provide competitive options. They explore how data, risk assessments, and industry-specific reporting can give farm owners better insights into cost-saving opportunities, making insurance about profitability and sustainability rather than just coverage. The Power of Community in Business Growth Terren shares how his involvement in FFA (Future Farmers of America) introduced him to farming and later helped him connect with agricultural clients. He recalls how word-of-mouth referrals have become a driving force in his business, with one client turning into multiple opportunities simply by showing up and offering value. Final Thoughts: David and Terren wrap up the episode with insights on how discipline, strategic planning, and niche expertise can turn a challenging market into an opportunity. As 2025 approaches, the key to success lies in proactive prospecting, continuous learning, and positioning yourself as an industry authority.

Terren Moore never planned to become a farmer. In high school, he signed up for an agriculture class to fulfill an elective requirement. It didn't take long for Moore to transition from an inexperienced agriculture student to a first-generation farmer. As Moore built relationships in the agriculture industry, he came to realize how farming and insurance go hand-in-hand. Today, Terren is the owner of Moore Farms & Insurance Services, LLC. His farm and office are located in Greenville, Texas, where he grows peas, okra and turnip greens. He also specializes in auto, home, farm and ranch, and life insurance. Babs and Fran from Over/underrated: a music podcast join Flixwatcher remotely to review Babs' choice Beats. Beats is a 2019 American coming of age hip hop drama (not to be confused with the other 2019 called film Beats) that tells the fictional story of a musical prodigy in Chicago experiencing PSTD from a violent incident, who ends up being mentored by a disgraced music producer. Starring Khalil Everage as August Monroe, the teenage beats enthusiast, Anthony Anderson as Romelo Reese, the ex music producer now school security guard and supporting cast Uzo Aduba as Carla Monroe, Augusts mother and Paul Walter Hauser as Terren, the owner of the record label trying to sign August. Fran's expectations were for Boyz in the Hood meets Dr Dre but unfortunately Beats doesn't reach those heights of greatness, Lacking in big musical moments and despite some nice editing work its hard to get emotionally invested in watching some button pressing and 808 beat creations. Recommendability scores for Beats were average and its two hour runtime works against it for repeat viewing and engagement to give it an overall rating of 2.59. Terren O'dell was one of the most promising amateur motocross talents of the 2000's. As an amateur, he routinely finished in front of some of the most well known names in motocross you will see today. Some of those names include Eli Tomac, Dean Wilson, Justin Barcia, Ian Trettel, Blake Wharton, Malcom Stewart, Vince Friese, Cole Seely, just to name a few. A very promising future was stunted by the ramifications of the 2008 US financial crisis, which saw most of the factory teams hesitant to support many riders. After a couple years of struggling to secure a ride, Terren made the decision to retire from professional racing to support his family. He spent most of the following years relatively absent from the sport, but made a fiery return to competitive racing in 2020 at the Motoplayground Race in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where he was the class of the field in most of his motos. It was clear to everyone that Terren still had it, and in 2021 Terren qualified for Loretta's in the +25 class where he made a strong showing and finished 6th overall. Terren is an awesome guy and we had a blast sitting down to talk to him.
Have you ever had an idea that you just couldn't walk away from? One of those lightning moments? That's exactly what our guest, Justine Gaitz, Creative Director at Terren, experienced and she didn't let the idea pass her by. And good on her, because she now has an exciting future in what could be a big player in the building industry. In this episode, Kribashini talks to Justine about the inception and birth of Terren, a company that is changing the rules of the building game. Terren provides limited edition, architectural pre-designed home plans that are fully customised to your site and specifications AND ready to be tendered within weeks. Justine shares her building journey, how she fell in love with the BuildHer Collective and how her experience with a high-end volume builder gave her the inspiration to say yes to the exciting business venture. She enthusiastically shares about Terren, what they offer and how they've gone about developing their plans. We really commend Justine for not letting the idea pass her by. Getting a house built is a huge achievement in and of itself. Starting a business that allows other people to do that with ease is another thing altogether. "In brightest day, in blackest night, no memes shall escape The Boys' sight." The oath both Terren and Isaac have undertaken as they seek out the ruins of the DCEU franchise...served with JOSSTICE... From Warner Bros. Studio comes the destruction of DC's movie potential with 2017's Justice League, a movie filled with additional unnecessary expenses, dialogue, reshoots, and a poor imitation of a Kryptonian's upper lip. How do you follow up a masterpiece such as 2012's Dark Souls (see episode 42)? Not as easily as you might think... Journey into the land of ancient lords with the boys as they discuss the follow up to From Software's cult classic, 2014's Dark Souls 2. The time has come to review the game Terren has based his entire masochistic personality on. And no we're not talking about 50 Shades Simulator, we're talking about something much kinkier than that... From Bandai Namco Games and From Software, 2012's Dark Souls is a hellacious journey into the unknown, ripe with grueling dungeons, challenging bosses, and cryptic npcs who laugh too much. To those who said adaptations of video games will never work in tv or movies, to that we say HAHA! You are only 90% correct. The other 10% goes to Netflix's animated Castlevania series, a bloody, grim, and action packed repackaging of the beloved Konami games. Packed with stunning visuals, excellent characterization, tasteful nots to it's video game counterpart, and accurate depictions of medieval peasants (which is really important to Terren for some reason) Castlevania proves that with the right liberties, and a talented team, a video game adaptation doesn't need to be a Razzie nominee every time. What's going on family!!! Had a chance to sit down with two of my homies and discuss Marvel's Avengers and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. My homie Terran from the Hodge Podge Podcast and my actor homie Vonnie D were the perfect duo to discuss this with. All three of us are true geeks and have seen every MCU movie countless times, including seeing Avengers Infinity War multiple times apiece. We talked about the latest Avengers film, our personal top 5 movies from the MCU and what we expect to see moving forward. This episode went on WAY longer than normal, so I understand if you want to break it up and listen to it in pieces, lol. Sit back and enjoy! Oh, and be on the look out for each of these gentleman coming back VERY soon for a traditional Poolside Chat.
