TRIGGER WARNING: Contains mention of physical/sexual abuse & suicide.Grant Solomon endured more than most in his lifetime, as did his mom and sister. To say Grant was failed by the system and by some members of society… is a massive understatement. Those opportunities were cut short when Grant tragically lost his life, in a way that is still unexplained to this day. We encourage you to listen to his story and to take action in any way possible, as Grant would have. TDP 1315: #Torchwood 87: The Hollow Choir - REVIEW (Trigger warning contains me singing) This title was released in September 2024. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until 30 November 2024, and on general sale after this date. There's always been something in the caves. Over the years people have gone in and not come out. But that was a long time ago. They've been sealed for the best part of a century. Eight hours ago, something changed. Three students somehow found their way in. Now time's running out to rescue them. Their one hope is a man called Rhys Williams. Because somehow, he has a map.

'Have you seen Slumdog Millionaire?' This informal chat with Catherine Millan is as much about Destiny and Dharma as it is all that the episode title denotes. Late discovered ADHDer Catherine and I were thinking about that same film at the exact same moment, and this picture in which she blends in with the ADHDAF leopard print is again a total 'coincidence'... Or is it?! :) Whatever you believe in, and despite the current climate, I am certain that this crucial conversation will leave you feeling hopeful for the future!Catherine Millan founded Be What You See because she believed the world was ready to make the real change required to reduce all forms of discrimination. As a Black, female lesbian who lives with ADHD and Dyslexia, Catherine has always lived in the margins of society and has witnessed first-hand inequalities in healthcare, education and the workplace. This fuelled Catherine's passion to get involved in initiatives such as the Stonewall Awards, the Race Equality Charter Mark and working with her employers to design inclusive environments for neurodiverse employees.Liverpool's finest, Catherine's first-hand experience of adversity and learning from others' stories have been a driving force for her to bring about changes in society to help build inclusive communities. They say you should never meet your heroes, but this episode disproves that theory! I could talk to Kat Brown ALL DAY LONG, and I did! Which is why, instead of losing any of the absolute GOLD late discovered ADHD Author Kat shared with me, I decided to make it a two parter! The second and final instalment will be out tomorrow... Kat is the Author of 'It's Not A Bloody Trend: Understanding Life as an ADHD Adult' and 'No One Talks About This Stuff: Twenty-Two Stories of Almost Parenthood', both are subjects extremely close to my heart. This interview/chinwag delves into both of the book topics; the deep grief and hard work that goes into accepting both the realities of a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition and infertility... BUT we have some proper giggles/cackles along the way! Exploring Kat's battles with commonly co-occurring conditions of ADHD, to bullying, mysogyny, the bloody media(!) and MORE! This is such an incredible conversation I'm extremely lucky, grateful and excited to be sharing... and I'm even more all-of-the-above to be collaborating TWICE this week in real life with this ABSOLUTE BLOODY LEGEND at the last ADHD AF Alien Nation show and Flackstock Festival THANK YOU SO MUCH KAT! I'm so excited to have the LEGENDARY Comedian & Author Suzi Ruffell hop aboard the late ADHD discovery rollercoaster this week! Despite being diagnosed with Dyslexia as a child, Suzi's ADHD went undiscovered until very recently. Labelled ‘hyper' as a child, Suzi found school really difficult, which inevitably led to truancy, which is common for many of us unidentified ADHDers. Suzi has noticed many female Comedians also just discovering their Neurodivergence… could it be the traits of the condition itself, or the result of a lifetime of ADHD going undetected and unsupported that has led so many like her to the profession? Whatever the case I am so grateful to Suzi for giving her time and voice to this platform to help raise crucial ADHD Awareness amidst a global crisis! Trigger Warning- Contains references to panic attacks and suicidal thoughts. On Little Fixes, we talk a lot about mental health. I've had many experts here and have shared my experience with anxiety and therapy in the past. In this episode, I'm talking to a person who dealt with a mental health issue very few of us know about.I am speaking with Captain Ritu Kumar Singh. She is an ex-Indian Army Officer, TEDx speaker and a women's health and fitness coach specialising in pregnancy and post natal fitness. Ritu is the Founder of India's first non-judgemental pregnancy and postpartum health platform ‘Fit Moms Fitter Homes'. She is an accomplished, inspiring woman and people look up to her. She is known as the brave girl but in 2022 she went through a life changing event. She experienced depersonalization derealization disorder (DDD or DPDR) even though everything in her life seemed to be going fine. It's supposed to be a very rare condition. According to Mayo clinic- “Depersonalization-derealization disorder occurs when you persistently or repeatedly have the feeling that you're observing yourself from outside your body or you have a sense that things around you aren't real, or both. Feelings of depersonalization and derealization can be very disturbing and may feel like you're living in a dream.”Sounds scary, right? I can't even imagine what a person experiencing DDD goes through. It's a sensitive topic but I urge you to stay with us and understand that different types of mental health issues are real. This talk might also give you some tools to help yourself and others.Resources- Book- Depersonalization: How I Recovered and How You Can Too by Joseph Shay- https://www.amazon.in/Depersonalization-How-Recovered-You-Can-ebook/dp/B01MT4RW33Connect with Ritu Kr. Apologies in advance that the sound isn't the usual standard. We had to record this on the road - literally! In every Episode of ADHDAF we invite you to join us on our late ADHD diagnosis journey, but in this particular instalment you are joining us on an actual journey too(!) from north east Scotland down to Blackpool in a car full to the rafters of festival accessories, with a surprise guest appearance from Laura's Husband Big. Reason being, we have to hold our hands up at this point and admit we've taken on WAY too much, meaning it has become a struggle for us both to keep all of the plates spinning! ADHDers are prone to overcommitting. A lifetime of not meeting expectations, and ‘just try harders' can lead us to become hardcore people pleasers! Overcompensation and executive dysfunction can cause us to take on too many tasks. Time blindness, a lack of boundaries/self- worth/care and rejection sensitive dysphoria can all bring an inability to perceive our own limits. Not to mention that the lazy', ‘useless' etc labels many of us have picked up along the way can make us feel like we have a hell of a lot to prove! We hope you enjoy this very random check-in, in which we reflect on everything from our incredible interview with Clementine Ford, storming the UK & Australian podcast charts, the seriousness of the worldwide health crisis of ADHD, wearing cycling shorts to work, forgetting to sleep, wash and get any fresh air for over a week… and loads more. That's not even half of it…as ever, we have a LOT to say! Always remember this truly inspirational quote: ‘Keep smashing everything!' - Dawn-Marie Farmer LOLS! Welcome back to another episode of Where The Chasm Is Bridged, a podcast by Behind The Scenes. TRIGGER WARNING: Contains the theme of suicide. I apologize if I have talked about it more lightly than I intended. It is a grave and serious matter and I understand that fully. Today, we start with a new theme and a new issue that has, somehow, never been represented accurately. We have a film recommendation today, one that very accurately captures the extreme consequences of debt. Peepli [Live] is a 2010 movie directed by Anusha Rizvi and Mahmood Farooqui. It revolves around the Manikpuri brothers who, burdened with debt, end up becoming a national issue of whether or not the younger brother would die. A situation that started with debt, ironically, ends with the same situation. The movie takes a satirical approach to representing rural India and the inefficiencies of the government.

Trigger Warning: Contains descriptions of torture and sexual violence. In 2012, an Oregon mother named Julie Keith opened up a package of Halloween decorations. The cheap foam headstones had been five dollars at Kmart, too good a deal to pass up. But when she opened the box, something shocking fell out: an SOS letter, handwritten in broken English. “Sir: If you occassionally buy this product, please kindly resend this letter to the World Human Right Organization. Thousands people here who are under the persicuton of the Chinese Communist Party Government will thank and remember you forever.” The note’s author, Sun Yi, was a mild-mannered Chinese engineer turned political prisoner, forced into grueling labor for campaigning for the freedom to join a forbidden meditation movement. He was imprisoned alongside petty criminals, civil rights activists, and tens of thousands of others the Chinese government had decided to “reeducate,” carving foam gravestones and stitching clothing for more than fifteen hours a day.In Made in China, investigative journalist Amelia Pang pulls back the curtain on Sun’s story and the stories of others like him, including the persecuted Uyghur minority group whose abuse and exploitation is rapidly gathering steam. What she reveals is a closely guarded network of laogai—forced labor camps—that power the rapid pace of American consumerism. Through extensive interviews and firsthand reportage, Pang shows us the true cost of America’s cheap goods and shares what is ultimately a call to action—urging us to ask more questions and demand more answers from the companies we patronize. Pang is in conversation with fellow author and Skylight's own Agnes Borinsky. _______________________________________________ Produced by Maddie Gobbo & Michael Kowaleski Theme: "I Love All My Friends," an unreleased demo by Fragile Gang.
