https://linktr.ee/TheBottomLineSD Welcome to Episode 8 of The Bottom Line. Hopefully, everyone had a great long weekend, as it was a holiday Monday in Canada for Family Day, and in the US as well for Presidents Day. In Syed's technology update, he mentions the Yandex breach that occurred due to an employee leaking information. Deepak and Syed then talk about the risk that insider threats impose on an organization and its security. The crew transitions into an update on the Cannabis Market, as Deepak provides an update of this sector and a few stocks and ETFs to look out for. To end, Syed and Deepak refer to an article on Yahoo Finance, where it states that Canada is about to launch a Bitcoin ETF. With this ETF, consumers can buy Bitcoin from their TFSA, RRSP, and such as they would with a normal stock or ETF. Syed questions the ETF since it will only have Bitcoin. Take a listen to the full segment to learn more about this ETF. Be sure to listen in on these great topics. A list of resources and timestamps are provided below. Deepak also mentions how Amazon has ordered several trucks that run on natural gas. The crew then transitions in Cryptocurrency. Syed highlights the fact how Ethereum is now listed on derivatives exchange CME, as investors seek to take advantage of mounting institutional interest in this evolving asset class. Deepak and Syed then talk about the Doge coin and where they see it going. Lastly, three stocks are mentioned by Syed and Deepak to keep an eye out for the coming week. These stocks are Twitter, Disney, and Coca-Cola. https://linktr.ee/TheBottomLineSD Video - https://youtu.be/y2nXPdF19S0 In Episode 6, Syed and Deepak highlight an eventful last week of January 2021. In Syed's technology and Information Security update, he mentions how there is a fake Covid-19 vaccine page going around in the UK asking for personal information. Syed also talks about 10 million Distributed Denial of Service attacks being reported last year in 2020, and how in 2021 Cyber Security investments will increase by 10% on average. The transition is then made into Apple, and their iOS 14.4 update which fixed a zero day attack vulnerability in the previous iOS. Syed advises the streamers and viewers to please update to the latest version of iOS for those that use an iPhone or iPad. Syed mentions how EB Games (a Canadian entity owned by GameStop) was part of a data leakage situation earlier this week as customers trying to buy the PS5 during a restock found out that their data was leaked. Fortunately, no credit card numbers were leaked. However, customers address, phone numbers, postal codes and emails were leaked. Speaking of EB Games and how their parent company GameStop had a very eventful week in the market, Syed asks Deepak about GameStop and the short squeeze. The crew discuss what happened, and how a group of Reddit users were able to impact the market. Deepak advises not to buy stocks at their all time high value, and to always do your own research before investing. Memes are also shown in the video version of this podcast on Youtube, so be sure to check out the video to get a laugh. Deepak and Syed then transition into Crypto. Syed talks about Doge coin, and again more memes on the video of this podcast. After that Syed talks about Stellar and Ripple and how they performed this past week. The crew does mention to keep up with their TikTok where they make educational videos and have been active. They made a video on Stellar and Ripple recently, so be sure to check those out on The Bottom Line's Tiktok page. Deepak mentions how India wants to ban crypto (Bitcoin). After both Syed and Deepak briefly talk about countries making their own Crypto currency. Stay tuned for Episode 7 this coming week. https://linktr.ee/TheBottomLineSD In this weekly episode, listen to Syed and Deepak cover a wide array of topics in this past week. Starting out, Syed talks about the Bonobos Hack, where 70 GB of data from their SQL database was compromised, a vulnerability in the Shazam application where a user's location can be compromised, and lastly Windows Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) being a target of a Distributed Denial of Service attack. Deepak asks Syed a very interesting question, wondering if a company can be fully 100 % be safe from cyber attacks? The crew then transitions into the market, where Deepak explains the concept of a short squeeze. Building on the topic of debate from Episode 4, Deepak mentions how GameStop, Tesla and a few other stocks are currently going through, or will potentially go into a short squeeze. Syed asks Deepak if Airlines will be a part of a potential short squeeze? After this, Deepak and Syed talk about their portfolios. Deepak is looking into the Cannabis industry, while Syed talks about his position on Lion Electric and their deal with Autobus Seguin. After, Syed transitions over to two penny stocks that he thinks should be on people's watchlist. Biohitech (BHTG) is a stock Syed thinks has potential to grow. Biohitech is proposing that instead of garbage going into landfills, they'll take the waste and turn it into renewable energy. Their primary goal is to reduce or eliminate land fill usage, reduce food waste generation with a behaviour changing data analytics platform, lowering carbon emissions and other harmful greenhouse gases, and lastly helping keep plastics from reaching the ocean. They have on-site food waste disposal technology which will be deployed in sectors such as restaurants, hospitality, grocery, maritime/cruise, government, food services and health care. One thing that Syed found interesting is that they can turn solid waste into liquid waste, and then discharge it through any standard sewer line. They also have a list of their partners which includes Carnival Cruise lines, the Philly Eagles football team, Marriott, Cheesecake Factory and the US government to name a few. Deepak mentions how for this company to grow, they have to be mindful of their competitors. Bill Gates is someone who potentially may have this idea of zero landfills in his road map, knowing the futuristic mindset he has. Penny Stock # 2 that Syed goes in depth about is Grande West Transportation Group (BUS.V). This company develops EV Buses and their major competitor CLLG Merger Corp, haven't sold a single EV bus yet are trading at a very high price per share. Being as low as this company is currently, and already having deployed 500 buses in the BC area, slowly moving their way into the US and the rest of Canada, Syed sees major potential. Deepak and Syed wrap up Episode 5 by saying that another exclusive episode is in the works on Taxes. They also mention the exclusive episode that dropped recently on EXIF and Metadata in images, so be sure to check that out as well. https://linktr.ee/TheBottomLineSD In this episode, we talk about privacy issues regarding Parler, with their raw meta data getting leaked to cyber security researchers. We briefly mention how exif data works, and how to remove this from images before uploading it to social media websites. We would love to do an exclusive on image forensics and how it works, so please let us know if you would be interested. There is an application called ViewExif that can be used to remove exif data from all photos. If any of our listeners want to know how this can be done, please let us know and we can do a little video showing you guys how to remove the metadata from all your pictures before uploading to social media. We then transition over to talking about GameStop and gamer preferences of how they buy games. This determines the rise or fall of this company. An interesting trend to look out for is PC gaming. As the hype around the new released gaming consoles, PS5 and Xbox Series x dies down, it will be interesting to see how GameStop does. After sales of the new consoles go down, GameStop will have to find a way to get into the PC gaming market. Perhaps setting up an online platform like steam ? New consoles usually come out after 5-6 years, so until the PS6 or new xbox series comes out, it will be interesting to see how GameStop does once the sales of these new consoles becomes normal or even declines. After this we talk about New York State opening up slowly, and how AMC could potentially be revived. Next online betting and Cannabis industry are discussed as we see these stocks rising with the Joe Biden coming in and potentially legalizing these two industries in his tenure. EV stocks are briefly mentioned and how they are long term stocks to hold onto. We end off Episode 4 talking about the Volatility index and how it rising to 30 could impact the market. We will have the Crypto Special coming your way shortly. DISCLAIMER - WE ARE NOT FINANCIAL ADVISORS. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND INVEST BASED ON YOUR RISK TOLERANCE.
