Historian Kate Fullagar tells the story of the intertwined destinies of Governor Phillip and First Nations leader Bennelong, beginning with their deaths and spooling gradually back to their first encounter.   This bold, unconventional approach allows for a wider lens and different perspective on their respective personalities and achievements, and on the events which brought them together at a time when Britain's colonial ambitions were to shape Australia for the next century.   Understanding, misunderstanding, conflict and a remarkable journey together to Britain give this double-headed biography a compelling and sometimes poignant narrative.   Life Sentences is produced by David Roach for Two Heads Media and edited by Kirra Jordan for PipeWolf Media. Today's episode details a collaboration between two countries, The United States and Australia, that have the same goal in combating the flow of illicit drugs into their countries. The Drug Enforcement Administration was formed in 1973, by the Nixon administration, for the war on drugs and over the years this administration has grown, evolved and they have been the countries leading experts on illicit narcotic sales that terrorize the globe. The Western Australian Police Force, colloquially WAPOL, was formed in 1834 and provides police services to over 2.5 million citizens of Western Australia. This story will detail how two countries formed a partnership and created a “pilot” program that sent two Detectives from WAPOL to the Dallas DEA Field Division for a 90-day special assignment to observe the DEA investigate cases in the United States. After a strict selection process, WAPOL Detectives Benjamin Willian Cox and David Joseph Gilliland were sent to the Dallas Texas to work under Special Agent in Charge Eduardo Chavez and Special Agent Guy Baker. SAC Chavez leads the DEA Dallas Field Division. Detectives Cox and Gilliland joined the amazing Strike Force Group to immerse themselves in long term investigations so that both groups can learn from each other in detective styles, techniques and case managing. Longtime Dallas Narcotics Task Force member, David Roach #9150, took the mates under his wing to show them all that Dallas and the great state of Texas has to offer in narcotics and violence. Enjoy this different type of episode as we bridge two countries that have common goals in making their home a better and safer place for their people. Episode Guest List:  Detective Superintendent John Hutchison Superintendent Hutchison spearheaded this initiative and oversees the Serious Organised Crime Squad in WAPOL. He started in WAPOL in 1986 and became a Detective Sgt in 1992 and has served as a Detective in several positions including covert undercover unit, drug and organized crime investigations and in 2022 he started a TSOC Squad to build the capabilities of the Western Australian Police Force. DEA Special Agent in Charge Eduardo Chavez                SAC Chavez leads the DEA Dallas Field Division that oversees daily operations in the North Texas Region and the entire state of Oklahoma. SAC Chávez began his career with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in the San Francisco Field Division in 2000 as a Special Agent assigned to the Bakersfield, California, Resident Office. During this period in the Central Valley of California, SAC Chávez conducted numerous complex conspiracy and undercover operations where his fluent Spanish and upbringing along the U.S.-México border allowed him to infiltrate several Mexican Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs). DEA Assistant Special Agent Guy Baker I met Guy as I learned he enjoyed listening to this podcast and he prefers to be a behind the scenes operator and does not like the limelight however I want the listener to know this episode would not have happened without Guy. He commands the respect of his peers and has dedicated his life to the DEA. I am honored to have met him. Guy has over 25 years with the DEA and is keen and outspoken in the fact that Fentanyl is one of the globes most dangerous crisis. Dallas Police Narcotics DEA Task Force Detective David Roach #9150 David has gravitated to enforcing narcotics going back to working in God's Country, the Southeast Division, when he started as a rookie officer. David's proactive talents and knack for natural street instincts as pure police was noticed by all as he spent several years in uniformed positions on assignments that allowed him to showcase his talents.  Detective Roach was assigned to the Dallas Narcotics Division and quickly joined the Narcotics Lab Unit then was hand picked to be a member of the DEA Task Force. David is a friend, respected and loyal team member and is bulldog of a Detective that is relentless in building cases on some of the most violent traffickers in the metroplex.

At the same time, their blues influences were closer to the surface, and if the music was a far cry from punk, the raw edges of their early influences were there in case you were looking for them.Social Media Handles:Facebook - @backstagepassradiopodcast @randyhulseymusicInstagram - @Backstagepassradio @randyhulseymusicTwitter - @backstagepassPC @rhulseymusicWebsite - backstagepassradio.com and randyhulsey.comArtist Media Handles:Website - www.junkyardblooze.comFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/david.roach.3720Instagram - @david.roach.3720Call to actionWe ask our listeners to like, share, and subscribe to the show and artist's social media pages. In this episode, she maps the trajectory of how Lee Child created his hero Jack Reacher in his own image to a seamless degree. She sleuths Child’s unpromising loveless childhood, his lifelong addictions, his desire for revenge of past wrongs, and his shrewd, strategic approach to every aspect of becoming a bestseller. Weighing in at nearly a thousand pages, this enthralling biography is the eleventh of American poet Sylvia Plath. But its emphasis is very different, thanks to Heather Clark’s determination to counter the obsession with her death and focus instead on Plath’s blazing talent and vitality. With unparalleled access to archives and never-before published material, Clark reveals a fragile but ambitious personality with original and mercurial talent, plagued by mental health issues, and struggling with the intensity of her relationship with her mother and her husband Ted Hughes. At the height of the Cold War, Ethel Rosenberg was the first woman in America to be electrocuted for a crime other than murder, accused of being a Soviet spy, together with her husband Julius. She was thirty seven and the mother of two small boys. In her meticulous biography, British biographer Anne Sebba separates out Ethel’s story from her husband’s and examines her difficult family history to paint a nuanced and often very moving portrait of a woman with a strong sense of honour and a steely courage. She also tells the story of a previous quest which yielded every biographer’s dream - a cache of unpublished material whose contents were explosive. My family and I could not be more thrilled to become part of the Rams family. I want to thank David Roach, Charlie Elwood, and the committee for their belief and trust I will continue with men's soccer traditions,” said Acquista. “As a native New Yorker, I understand the history of Fordham University and the men's soccer program. I am looking forward to continue instilling the core values of integrating academic and athletic experiences successfully in the Jesuit tradition. I will work diligently to recruit the talented student-athlete who will compete in the ultra-competitive Atlantic 10, as well as meeting and engaging our proud alumni, campus community, and fans.” In his first season at Rose Hill, Acquista guided the Rams to the Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals, Fordham's fourth in a six-year span.  The year saw Joergen Oland receive his second A-10 Defensive Player of the Year award, as well as First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors.  He also garnered All-Region accolades from United Soccer Coaches and ECAC All-Star status. Additionally, Johnannes Pieles was selected as a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American, while Konstantin Weis earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Championship team.

Both Junkyard and Guns N' Roses were signed to Geffen in 1987. Since then GNR has made rock history. But what about Junkyard? What's their story? Lead singer David Roach had rock n' roll fantasies growing up in Austin, Texas. He may not have the notoriety of an Axl Rose, but is still living his dream. What did it mean for David as Axl wore a Junkyard shirt when they first started out? What does he recall about the GNR/Junkyard show in 1987 at Perkins Palace? What is Junkyard working on now? How does he define success? Also this, special fan-cohost Ms. Metal, and so much more! Follow Junkyard at @JunkyardBlooze on Twitter.

Cast and crew from the films: "Townbiz," directed by Mario Bobino, and "Everyday Blackman," directed by Carmen Madden. Townbiz has a theatrical release Nov. 10, 6:30 and 10:00 PM at the Grand Lake Theatre in Oakland. David Roach, founder, Oakland International Film Festival where these two films debuted during its 8th Annual Season (10/8-14), join us also. You can catch this modern version of a Blaxploitation film tonight at 10 PM. The director and cast will be in the house 11/10. "Townbiz" exploits all the negative stereotypes re: black women, black men, black families. It's all about the sex, drugs and violence, but ultimately it's about a personal vendetta between a gang lord and his errant or dead beat father. The story has an interesting twist. It makes one see how much of the warring that happens is personal, yet the personal becomes bigger and people join the fight who have nothing to gain from the altercation, yet often loose their lives. Think about Bush Sr. and Sadam Hussain and George W Bush's vendetta against the Iranian president--all the lives lost and continuing to be lost (on the eve of Veteran's Day.) Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. speaks about his upcoming San Francisco Bay Area tour Nov. 7-13. His first stop is the Black Dot Cafe, 7 PM, 1195 Pine Street, West Oakland; Sia Amma, San Francisco African Drum and Dance Festival which begins Nov. 4-8, 2009 at various locations. The Gala Performance is Saturday, Nov. 7, 9 PM, at the African American Art and Culture Complex, 762 Fulton Street, San Francisco. Visit www.globalwomenintact.org.

Thanks Pat Fun Talking to you.. ROCK ON!!! A gritty, heavily tattooed outfit that infused elements of southern rock and blues into their brand of L.A. sleaze metal. Their no-frills brand of rock'n'roll, where the music mattered more then the image, should have made them household names, but they failed to have much in the way of commercial success. Formed in Los Angeles by a couple of transplanted Texans in David Roach (vocals) and Chris Gates (guitar, ex-Big Boys). Members came and went before they offered the drum stool to Pat Muzingo, who in turn brought with him bassist Clay Anthony. The final piece of the puzzle was the addition of guitarist Brian Baker, whom Gates knew from the punk circuit when he was in such bands as Minor Threat and Dag Nasty. The self-titled debut album, produced by the legendary Tom Werman, followed a grittier hard rock path than the punk roots of the members. The follow-up was more of the same raunchy music, and just before it's release Todd Muscat (Decry/Kill For Thrills) replaced Anthony. A third album was recorded but never officially released as the band was dropped from their recording contract (it has since been bootlegged under the name of XXX and The Joker). The writing was on the wall for the group went their seperate ways. A live album was released in early 2000, and the band began to do a few live shows in America and Japan with Tim Mosher replacing Baker. A mini album of new and old songs was released in 2003 and most recently they released "Put It On Ten..." a collection of early demos and covers that capture the band in it's true raw element, plus a live DVD recorded in 1989. Current line-up: David Roach - Vocals, Chris Gates - Guitar, Tim Mosher - guitar Todd Muscat - bass, Pat Muzingo - Drums
