EP114 of the #ATIpodcast w/  Barrett welcomes JAMES BEVERIDGE of Austin, Texas Blackened-Screamo outfit, Portrayal of Guilt. In this episode of the ATI podcast, Barrett interviews James Beveridge, #Drummer for Portrayal of Guilt. They discuss the origins of the band and their progression over the years. They also talk about the often genreless nature of Portrayal of Guilt's music. James shares his approach to drumming and the influences that have shaped his style. The conversation then shifts to live performances and the importance of engaging with the crowd. They discuss moshing and the negative aspects of aggressive behavior in the pit. They also touch on the recording process of their album 'Devil Music' and the inclusion of string arrangements. The conversation concludes with a discussion about the short film that was released alongside the album and the positive reception they received from both fans and critics. In this part of the conversation, James and Barrett discuss their lack of knowledge in music theory and how it doesn't play a role in their music. They also talk about the surprise and interest in hearing their music translated into chamber music style. James shares his excitement about the new music they are working on and the upcoming releases. They also discuss their personal backgrounds and experiences as drummers, including their influences and equipment preferences. In this final part of the conversation, Barrett and James discuss their favorite albums by The Mars Volta and their current music rotations. They also share their surprising hobbies and interests, such as kendama and rock climbing. The conversation concludes with a discussion about movies and TV shows, including the film 'Anatomy of a Fall' and the documentary 'American Movie.' They also mention the upcoming tour dates for Portrayal of Guilt. The episode opens and closes with tracks from PORTRAYAL OF GUILT. Born in Jesup, Georgia, United States, Bramblett studied religion and psychology at the University of North Carolina, with the objective of entering the seminary. However, finding inspiration in the music of James Taylor, Carole King, and Bob Dylan, he abandoned his theological studies and pursued songwriting, soon moving to Athens, Georgia. After establishing himself as a session musician in the early 1970s, recording with artists like Gregg Allman and Elvin Bishop, Bramblett toured with bands such as the Gregg Allman Band, Sea Level, Widespread Panic, and Traffic. Bramblett, along with Chuck Leavell, has been credited with giving Sea Level, described as "a jazz-influenced spinoff from the Allman Brothers Band," a new, unique direction. Bramblett has been described as an outstanding lyricist and vocalist. The songs he wrote during his time with Sea Level have been described as "philosophical, despairing soul and funk tunes and rockers. As of 2017, Bramblett has recorded a total of fourteen albums, with the first two, That Other Mile and Light of the Night, issued by Polydor in the 1975 and 1976, and multiple albums in each succeeding decade. Bramblett's 2001 album, No More Mr. Lucky, features Bramblett playing the Hammond B-3 and saxes. Tracks on that album has been described as rich, funky, hip, and raw.In 2015, Bramblett released Devil Music. Jason is a licensed Psychotherapist, an actor and writer!  At the age of 48 he moved back to NYC and began acting on shows such as The Perfect Murder, Mysteries at the Museum, and Dateline Crime with Tamron Hall. More recently, he became the first Psychotherapist to play an actual 'Psycho," when he portrayed Serial Killer Keith Jespersen on Evil Lives Here on Discovery ID, Season 3 Episode 11.  We will dive into this case during our chat!  Additionally, Jason also appeared in a few award winning short films.  As a therapist, coach and trainer, Jason takes a very proactive, motivational approach with clients, and believe people need to challenge their fears actively.  He believes that when we examine our Physical, Intellectual, Social, Emotional and Spiritual lives, we can focus our efforts so we are happier more productive and fulfilled.  You can learn more about him by visiting his website: http://jasonericross.comor following him on social media:Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/jason.e.ross.3Twitter:  https://twitter.com/jasonericrossInstagram:  https://www.instagram.com/jasonericross/Shout out to our newest Patrons:Lauren AllenGetting Off PodcastBased on a True Crime Podcast Promo for:Murderous Minors: Killer Kids PodcastJoin Patreon!https://www.patreon.com/NVNpodcast Find us on all the things:@naturevsnarcissism (Instagram)@NvsNpodcast (Twitter)@naturevsnarcissism (Facebook)Nature vs Narcissism Facebook Discussion GroupBUY COOL SHIT:https://naturevsnarcissism.threadless.com/Email me for sources.Music/clips:Creepy Inn by Devil Music – http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Devil_Music/Nosferatu

*This is a listener FAVORITE from Season 1. We are using a new format and recording style for Season 3 and beyond. We have kept this episode on the main feed as it was one that the listeners loved.Episode 12 focuses on two serial killers whom of which both have monikers.  Lawrence Bittaker worked in cahoots with Roy Lewis Norris to rape and murder teenage girls.  Together, they were known as the Toolbox Killers.  Larry Eyler was known as the Interstate Killer and preyed on young boys/men along the interstate.  Please do not let little ears hear this episode…this episode contains a lot of adult content and plenty of rated R jokes/conversations.Find us on all the things and join our Facebook Discussion Group!   Want to be a guest?  Email us your stories and suggestions: naturevsnarcissism@gmail.com! Rob and Seth sit down with Randall Bramblett in his own house and after first discussing his two most recent brilliant releases "Juke Joint at the Edge of the World" and "Devil Music," they go back to the 70s and move through his fascinating career. We learn how working with Tommy Talton and the band Cowboy led to him meeting and ultimately touring with Gregg Allman. He speaks of his days with the "jazz arm" of the Allman Brothers Band community, Sea Level. Bramblett also speaks of working with Levon Helm, and meeting and touring with Steve Winwood. His success with Winwood would unfold into him being a vital part of the enormously successful 1994 Traffic reunion tour, and we get some insight into that Bramblett era. Widespread Panic fans might be curious to learn about how Randall ended up in that family, and what it was like to tour with them while their guitarist's health was rapidly declining. We also get a follow-up call in the outtro during which Randall speaks about his most recent Atlanta play (it was a DOOZIE) and he reflects on his friends who have recently passed - Col. Bruce Hampton, Gregg Allman and Jimmy Nalls. The introduction also includes a brief interview Seth conducted with the young jamband Spafford. wTnS is Produced by Rob Turner and Engineered by Josh Thane of Wonder Dog Sounds (wonderdogsounds.com) Inside Out w/ Turner and Seth: insideoutwtns.com Twitter: @InsideoutWTNS Instagram: www.instagram.com/insideoutwtns Facebook: www.facebook.com/insideoutwTnS See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

SHOW # 294 – Live, Uncut & Uncensored Conversations With “Musicians You Should Know” Back on March 25, 2013 Hans Theessink was a guest on the Couch.  It was the World Premier of his album with Terry Evans, Wishing Well.  We spoke about his life and the partnership with Terry and things they were working on.  Back in April, True & Blue was released.  Hans and I decided to wait until he was in the same time zone, so tonight he calls from Houston, TX D.L. Duncan is one of the most talented musicians in America and many people do not know him.  He has two BMA nominations for songs he co-wrote with Curtis Salgado, he has released five albums in his career, and the latest is simply titled D.L. Duncan.  We’ll find out more about this wonderful musician. Randall Bramlett has released a new album, Devil Music. This is a thrill; I have been a fan for years, back to his time with Sea Level, and his work with Greg Allman and Widespread Panic.  He has led his own bands and was Steve Winwood’s go-to tour mate for 16 years, including the ’94 Traffic reunion. He and I will talk more about his incredible career and listen to the music on the album. Guy Davis returns for a Couch Kid New Music Segment for his new release, Kokomo Kid.  Guy has been incredibly busy and we will talk about his life since he appeared on The Couch on October 14, 2013 while we check out the new album.
