Cathy Naiser has been in and around New Thought since 1985.  She began in Unity of San Antonio and later went to ministerial school in another branch of New Thought….Divine Science, receiving her ordination there.  Her positive mindset work shaped her career and her life in many ways. Rudimental Divine Science

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge, my fortress, my God. In Him will I trust.” The Book of Psalms is called the Little Bible. It's a treasure house of spiritual riches. The 91st Psalm has stood the test of time for thousands of years. It's called the great protective psalm. Psalms means songs to God, odes to the deity. Each person has her or his identity in the Psalms. The 91st Psalm is a great source of inspiration and comfort to all men and women throughout the world. Millions meditate on it in all walks of life, and it has saved the lives of many people from shipwreck, being lost at sea, from fires, from all manner of trouble. Thousands of people turn to this Psalm for protection, for healing, and in all sorts of emergencies and troubles. Listen to this Psalm quietly. Take one verse at a time. Savor it, dwell upon it, give it your attention, devotion. Think about it from all angles. Think about the meaning of each verse, and know these great truths are sinking down into your subconscious mind and will be resurrected in your daily life, just like you deposit seeds in the ground. Seeds grow after their kind. This is called prayer and meditation. To meditate is to give your attention or your devotion to certain truths, and think about them from all angles so that you ingest and absorb them, and they become a living part of you. That is real meditation. He would get nervous before his shows, and his throat would spasm. His conscious mind was impairing a skill that had become subconscious for him. The constant negative thoughts caused Caruso's conscious mind to take over. He worried about the performance going wrong and the crowd reacting with hostility. Caruso was able to conquer these physical reactions. He would tell his conscious mind to stop interfering with his subconscious mind. If you visualize or imagine what you hope to be true, sometimes it does come true. Emma ordained Myrtle and Charles Fillmore. Emma's student, Annie Rix Militz founded the Home of Truth (which still exists in Alameda, CA). In the late 1800s, when Emma began her ministry, Theosophy came into prominence. She was influenced by Hinduism and other mystic philosophies. There are misperceptions about Emma. One is that Malinda Cramer was a student of Emma. One of Emma's students, Kate Bingham taught the Brooks sisters. A healing took place. With Melinda Cramer, the women created Divine Science.At one time, everything was called Christian Science, but Mary Baker Eddy became owner of the name Christian Science. To Michael, New Thought teaching is that Christ is the Truth. Michael changed the name of Emma's book, "First Lessons in Christian Science". This was Emma's first book, but no one wanted to publish it by that name. It's now called "First Lessons from the Journals of Emma Curtis Hopkins". To Michael, the most intriguing part of Emma's teaching is Christ. A lot of New Thought teachings do not include Christ. Michael stopped practicing Catholicism, but he continues his connection with the Christ Presence. Emma teaches Jesus Christ. She teaches that the Bible stories are about us. She doesn't talk about Heaven and Hell, but instead about how to let Christ be your life.  Ernest Holmes got mysticism from Emma. Mysticism is an encompassing presence. Holmes' teaching changed after that. Fenwicke Holmes said that. Fenwicke wrote The Voice Celestial. Michael interprets the poem as the Bhagavad Gita story.Yogananda's teaching came from Babaji. Grace Mann Brown (April 16, 1859; Pippin, Wisconsin, – 1925; Denver, Colorado) was an American writer and spiritual leader. Her work was related to the New Thought Movement, Divine Science and Christian Science. Much of her work focused on spirituality, metaphysics, mysticism, esoteric and occult sciences.    Grace Mann Brown was active in the New Thought Movement, writing and lecturing extensively. She also wrote some of her works under the pen name Ione. She was instrumental in creating The Order of the Essenes and was its President. In 1906, Brown was Vice President of the World New Thought Federation. Brown would succeed Fannie B. James as Editor of Fulfillment Magazine. Also, from 1920 to 1921, Brown was Bookkeeper for the American Unitarian Association. Metaphysical Theater today's Metaphysics Practitioner Doctor Joseph Murphy (May 20, 1898 – December 16, 1981) was an Irish born, naturalized American author and New Thought minister, ordained in Divine Science and Religious Science. Joseph Denis Murphy was born in Ballydehob, County Cork, Ireland, the son of a private boys' school headmaster and raised a Roman Catholic. He joined the Jesuits. In his twenties, before being ordained a priest, an experience with healing prayer led him to leave the Jesuits and emigrate to the United States in 1922; he journeyed as a steerage passenger on board the RMS Cedric, sailing from Liverpool, England, to the Port of New York; on the ship's passenger manifest, his occupation was listed as chemist, the British term for pharmacist. In New York City, he became a professional pharmacist in New York City (having a degree in chemistry by that time). Here he attended the Church of the Healing Christ (part of the Church of Divine Science), where Emmet Fox had become minister in 1931. Murphy traveled to India and spent lot of time with Indian sages, learning Hindu philosophy. He later on formed a new church in America with Hindu ideologies. In the mid-1940s, he moved to Los Angeles, where he met Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes, and was ordained into Religious Science by Holmes in 1946, thereafter teaching at Rochester, New York, and later at the Institute of Religious Science in Los Angeles. A meeting with Divine Science Association president Erwin Gregg led to him being reordained into Divine Science, and he became the minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church in 1949, which he built into one of the largest New Thought congregations in the country. His Personal life and death, were greatly exaggerated. As all our own always are. In the next decade, Murphy married, earned a PhD in psychology from the University of Southern California and started writing. After his first wife died in 1976, he remarried to a fellow Divine Science minister who was his longstanding secretary. He moved his ministry to Laguna Hills, California, where he died in 1981. His wife, Dr. Jean Murphy, continued in this ministry for some years after his own death Religious Science spiritual, philosophical and metaphysical religious movement established in 1927 by Ernest Holmes (1887–1960) within the New Thought movement

Employed in the ForeignService of the U.S. State Department as a code clerk encoding and decoding highly classified documents, she worked in the Paris embassy and later the embassyin Tokyo.  Johnson received a fascinating non-academic education from these two tours of duty.  She left the Foreign Service to further her experiences bybecoming the wife of a career military man, mother of three sons, a government employee, Federal Women’s Program Coordinator for a government district office, program director of a holistic health center, minister of Divine Science, and now an author. Bettye Johnson is the award-winning author of Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls, an Independent Publishers Book Award Winner 2006 and Mary Magdalene, Her Legacy, an Independent Publishers Book Award Winner 2008. On this very special edition of Metaphysical Romp, my special guest will be Rev. Dr. Miriam Comer-Johnson, a Divine Science minister and author of The Open Book of Revelation. This week we review the phrase “God is the invisible and the visible.” This is not such a commonly heard phrase unless you experience the Divine Science flavor of New Thought. And, even when devotees of Divine Science are pressed, they will concede that at least there are some aspects of the visible that are not God, namely disease. From a Unity perspective, this phrase would be simplified to “God is the invisible.” Or we could say “God is the invisible in the Absolute.” Email questions about the ego/personality and whether it was and is responsible for the crises in our world are addressed. The difference between A Course in Miracles view of the ego and how Unity views the ego is explored as well as the Power of Zeal.
