POPULARITY
Saluton, estas mi, Tyson Saner, and I welcome you heartily to this 351st episode of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, which just so happens to be the second-to-last episode of Succotash before our 12-year anniverary special, which will then be swiftly followed by a well-deserved hiatus. If you are a 1st time listener, this show typically features clips from other soundcasts from around the world and has for almost 12 years. The entire archive of episodes past can be found over at www.succotash.com for the time being, so if you end up enjoying this program and you'd like to share it with others, send them there or pretty much anywhere else you can listen to soundcasts, which are also called podcasts most everywhere else other than here on Succotash. Last week in Episode #350, show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon brought you a "Chats" episode that featured conversation with, and fascinating stories from Shane Elliot of the sketch comedy group from North Hollywood called Fries On The Side that Mr. Hershon had also been involved with. It's a fascinating and funny chat that you should check out at your earliest convenience. In this, the last episode I'm producing before our aforementioned hiatus, I have brought you some clips to listen to from the soundcasts Holidays After Dark, What Went Wrong, and Bit Weird But Fair Enough (I Guess). I'll be rounding out the show with 2 clips from the Strange Times Show, the hosts of which just celebrated 10 of their own years in soundcasting. The episode clipped for this purpose is #462, titled "Ten Bloody Years". Many soundcasters sent in their congratulations in audio form, so I've decided to include the one I sent, and the one Marc sent. Those will be played at various points in this program. I'm even throwing in a classic Henderson's Pants ad into this episode just for kicks. It's one of the oldest ones I think…If the numerical system it came with is to be believed. Well, the show wasn't going to finish writing or producing itself, so I had to get into it. And now it's time for you to do the same… CLIPS Holidays After Dark This is directly from the show description for Holidays After Dark: "It's a year-round soundcast which explores the strange, unusual, and dark sides of the holidays while also paying tribute to the lighthearted festivities we all know and love!" Featuring host Kristin Seering, our clip is from show from March 28th, 2023 - Easter 2023: Tale of a Homicidal Hare. In this episode, Holidays After Dark explains the history behind how the Easter Bunny came to be and tries to determine if the story of the Bunny Man Killer is real or simply an urban legend. The clip I've selected is from somewhere in the middle. Enjoy. What Went Wrong From Sad Boom Media, What Went Wrong covers Hollywood's most notoriously disastrous movie productions, digging into the behind-the-scenes insanity of everything from massive flops to record breaking blockbusters. The clip is from their episode of April 3rd, 2023: "Gone With The Wind". Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, and Hattie McDaniel may star in 1939's Gone With the Wind, but this was David O. Selznick's dumpster fire. Join hosts Chris Winterbauer and Lizzie Bassett as they break down a truly disastrous production featuring 15+ writers, 3+ directors, an amphetamine-fueled producer, and racism galore - both onscreen and off. Bit Weird but Fair Enough (I Guess)From Down Under, under The Angry Chimp banner, host Stuart Buckland and guests look at some of the weird stuff going on in this crazy, crazy world. Our clip, from way back on the 1st of February, 2021, is from a show entitled "God or Demon?" And it features not one but two Friends of Succotash. In addition to Mr. Buckland, his guest this episode was British expat in South Korea Samantha Pett, joining Stu to examine weirdness surrounding cats, exams, toast and processed meat. (Sam was formerly a co-host of The Strange Times Show for a not-insubstantial amount of episodes, and a podcaster in her own right with programs such as The Kimchi Chronicles and Anarchy Audi". Keeping with the theme of including Strange Times Show content in this episode, and also wanting to feature Mr. Buckland's relatively recently established soundcast, I was pleased to be able to get both of them in one episode. And there it went…my last solo episode of Succotash before our hiatus. What an amazing ride this has been. It's really hard to wrap my head around the passage of time it seems. I don't mean to say that I don't know what it is, although I don't know what it is more than someone who studies that sort of thing might. Or might claim to…That's what people who study that sort of thing say, right? "I know what time is..", in casual conversation. Or perhaps sitting by themselves in the middle of a café, working through what they imagine a conversation of that nature would be like, ultimately culminating in an unscheduled "outside voice" moment. No, I don't mean to say that I don't know what it is…although I don't. It happens, I witness it, it continues to happen, and I attempt to fill it with variety and relative happiness…and music. I can't forget the music. Coming up next, and also LAST for…uh, well…let's just say that I'm not specifically sure how long it will be before we reemerge with something…But my understanding is that that is the plan…there's one of those "that that"'s again. Is that a peculiarity of the English language? I suppose I could look it up, but I'm not going to do that right now. I'm going to be working on other things in the meantime, and you will be able to find those things over at www.tysonsaner.com as well as an archive full of stuff I've already done as of this recording. Music, Gaming Videos, A Redbubble store…stuff like that…and who knows what else? I'm not 100% sure, but if I needed to be, I would never create anything…and there will be plenty of time for inactivity…um…let's just say…later? Before I go, I need to remember to say "Thank You" to Marc Hershon and Joe Paulino for making me feel like a valuable contributor to something for the last 10 years of my life. It's a very specific thing to say "thank you" for, I know, but It's a very specific sort of gratitude I feel to those who would include me in their creative endeavors. I do not, and hopefully never will, take that sort of thing lightly…. …and now, I have to make the awkward transition into actually saying "Good Bye"…so I will end by saying "Thank You" to my parents and my wife for being supportive of me in many ways including keeping me alive for the entirety of this experience I call "life" so far. I hope I didn't make it more difficult than it had to be. #Goalz Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and when you are out there in the world, should you seek out, or perhaps stumble across our archive during our absence, and you got something out of it that can only be expressed by sharing it with others in some form or another, for example sending them to www.succotashshow.com , then we will experience gratitude for you, for having done so. It's what we dream about happening when we utter the final words of every episode, which are please pass the Succotash… — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast! Have you listened to us before? If so, then welcome back! We're clocking in at #349 this week and the duties of finding soundcast clips falls on me. Did you happen to hear last week's episode titled "A Spring Bouquet of Clips" ? It was Epi348 and it featured a trio of clips from the soundcasts FOGO, Tell Me About It, and The Best Show. In addition, that episode featured another drop-in from comedian Dan St. Paul with a selection from his "Slices" blog, and that one was called “The Thai That Unbinds”. It was a fun episode, and I invite you to check it out at your earliest convenience. (I almost forgot to mention that episode was hosted by Marc Hershon, who is the show creator, and executive producer. We've been sharing hosting hosting duties on a more-or-less every-other-weekly basis since episode #201 from May 5th, 2020. That episode was the first episode of the Succotash Shut-In" period of this soundcast, AND the first episode back from our first hiatus, which lasted all of about 2 weeks. I bring up the hiatus in case you hadn't heard episode #348 yet, because it was, in fact, announced at the end of that episode, that Succotash is going on another hiatus soon. There's still a few episodes left until that happens tho, and this is one of them. Then, after we hit our anniversary in April of this year, which is 2023 for those living in the future beyond 2023, assuming the future IS a thing when you are listening…) But importantly, this week, I've got clips for you from the soundcasts Wow in the World, TDR Now Travel Podcast, and Story Pirates. Two of those soundcasts, specifically Wow in the World" and Story Pirates" were suggested by a list I found in a Good Housekeeping article from March 25th of 2020 titled "21 Entertaining Podcasts for Kids of All Ages". Meanwhile, TDR Now Travel is a family-friendly soundcast that I found thru being a frequent viewer of the YouTube channel "TDR Explorer"… which is also pretty family friendly… but more on that later. So, basically, that's why this episode is entitled "One for the Kids". CLIPS Wow in the World The #1 podcast for kids and their grown-ups. Hosts Mindy Thomas and Guy Raz share stories about the latest news in science, technology, and innovation. Stories that give kids hope, agency and make us all say "WOW"! New episodes drop every Monday for free. Our featured clip is from just last week - March 20th, 2023 - entitled "Another Prehistoric Mystery". What really happened to the ichthyosaurs? Detective Mindy and Junior Detective Dennis are determined to find out! Join Mindy, Guy Raz, and the Wow Crew in the mystery of why prehistoric swimming reptile bones were found in the desert. It's the who, what, when, where, how and WOW of ichthyosaurs! TDR Now Travel Podcast A podcast for theme park fans who love to travel! They're the longest-running show dedicated to informing listeners about theme parks in Asia including Tokyo Disneyland and Universal Studios Japan. Come and travel along with them. I discovered this podcast thru their YouTube videos on "Super Nintendo World" which both my son and I enjoy. This clip is from March 14th, 2023, and is called "Super Nintendo World Differences Japan vs. USA - Episode 278". The hosts, Chris and Patricia, discuss the differences between Super Nintendo World in Japan and the US! From the layout of the land to food to merchandise. They talk about it all! Story PiratesThe award-winning Story Pirates soundcast takes stories written by kids and turns them into sketch comedy and songs. Made up of talented comedians, songwriters, and frequent celebrity guests, the Story Pirates inspire kids to create, bringing laughter to kids and grownups of all ages with hilarious sketches, catchy original songs from all genres, and interviews with the creative geniuses behind the stories… kids! Our clip is from just last week - March 23rd, 2023 - called "Oh Rats!" And today's new story, hosted by Lee Overtree and Benjamin Salka and dreamed up by a 7-year-old from New Jersey named Alexandra, explores the never-ending real estate struggles between mice and humans. So there you go, kids… or people who have them who also listen to podcasts… or at least WERE/ARE listening to THIS one… This is the end portion of the episode, where we make our goodbyes and I go off to record the vocal performance you are hearing now, after which I will edit everything that you have heard so far together… and that pretty much sums up the process of what came together as the episode you are nearly done with. For the adults in the room, there is a whole archive of episodes over at www.succotashshow.com, as well as on pretty much all the listening platforms that you can, could, or perhaps are, listening on. That particular archive, which is ours, goes back almost 12 years now. It's a pretty nifty thing, and - as far as I can tell - a fairly rare thing in this medium known as the podcast, which we here at Succotash have been calling "soundcasts" for pretty much the entire run. It's been fun. See you in 2 weeks with something… probably less family friendly … so pretty much a normal episode. Thank you for listening. Go to www.tysonsaner.com to find my links to all the stuff I'm doing including original music, gaming videos, and my Redbubble store. Tune in next week for episode #350, I'm sure it will be a good one! Be decent to each other, and if someone should randomly, or perhaps deliberately ask you if you have heard anything good or interesting lately, and that make you think of us…please, pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
Saluton estas mi, Tyson Saner, welcoming you to Succotash Episode #347. I will be your host for the duration of this episode as it is my turn to do so. Last week in Epi346, subtitled "Clips Like a Lion", show creator and executive producer of Succotash Marc Hershon brought you a clips episode plus a little something extra. The clips featured in that episode were from the Soundcasts known as Dear Chelsea, The JTrain Podcast, and Two Vegan Idiots. The aformentioned extra took the form of a contribution from comedian Dan St. Paul's "Slices" blog, called "Rebel Without A Phone". It was an entertaining episode that, if you were to want to listen to that as well, you absolutely could on this listening platform, or on Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Soundcloud, YouTube, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeart Radio, PodBay, Podchaser, and, as always, on our homesite at SuccotashShow.com…this is provided, of course, that you found us somewhere other than those previously mentioned platforms. This week in Epi347 I have clips for you as well, and they are from the soundcasts How Did This Get Made, Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, and Nooner Podcast. It's extremely likely that you will also be encountering a classic advertisement from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants with an oh-so-apropos ad for their "Hooray for Hollywood pants somewhere later in the episode as well. CLIPS How Did This Get Made? We have featured clips from How Did This Get Made and soundcasts featuring those involved with it several times over the last almost 12 years. The most recent time was actually not all that recent though, in fact it was way back at the end of December of 2021 in Episode 284 subtitled "Clip The Halls" which is, of course in our archive were you to want to hear that sooner than later. Featuring hosts Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas, our clip is from February 23rd of this year where the hosts break down, coincidentally (or is it?), the thriller "The Number 23" starring Jim Carrey. They discuss all the bonkers names—from Topsy Kretts to Fingerling to Sirius Leary—the protagonist who hates dogs, Walter Sparrow's sanity, Bud Cort's crazy room, the son's childish mug gift, Danny Huston's villainous vibe, and Chekhov's Saxophone. Plus, they ask "At the beginning is Jim Carrey basically playing Ace Ventura?" And Paul reveals his theory that maybe Walter Sparrow's dog bite gave him rabies. Is Paul right? Crack the code! Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum This soundcast has been featured once before, back in the end of February 2019, in Episode 188, which Marc hosted in my stead while I was quite busy navigating life with my at-the-time newborn son Jareth. (This was back when the episodes typically featured 6 clips each and were not guaranteed to post with the regularity that they have been since around April of 2020 with our Succotash Shut-In phase of this program.) In case you hadn't heard that episode, or don't know of Inside of You, the show description reads: "I'm Michael Rosenbaum, I've spent the better part of the last two decades in and out of film and television - mostly known for playing the bald dude on the show Smallville. I'm the guy that you probably don't know by name, but when you see my face you might say “oh, that guy from that thing.” I've befriended some of the most talented people in the business, but it wasn't until I started inviting them into my home that I realized, I didn't really know these people. What started as me having some fun, quickly evolved into something I've fallen in love with. What I've discovered is that all these people aren't that different from you and me. They have the same insecurities and flaws that we all deal with every day. In a dark, yet enlightening way…I find a lot of comfort in that. I invite you all to join me while I get inside each of these fascinating people." Our clips hails from September 6th of last year, and features guest Wil Wheaton (Stand By Me, Star Trek: TNG, Big Bang Theory), who shares his brave story of coming to grips with the trauma of his childhood, breaking the cycle so it doesn't carry on to future generations, and understanding that part of his healing process may lead to a lifetime split from his family. Nooner Really what can be said about Nooner Podcast that hasn't already been? The show started with Dan Etheridge and Marty Yu hosting from Kevin Smith's living room way back in 2011 with their 1st guest Martin Starr. (It's a soundcast that is ALMOST as old as Succotash itself!) Since it started, the show has had some lineup changes whose personalities include, but are not limited to, Stephen Kruger, Bill Watterson, Emily O'Hara (or O'Hare? I don't know and it is extremely difficult to find information about her, but I did not hallucinate her…) Giselle Nett, John Pirruccello, Cassandra Cardenes, and John Sylvain. These are the most frequent co-hosts. Other folks who co-hosted more than once — and may I remind you that I am going from memory — include Scott Marvel Cassidy and Vivian Martinez. I have been listening to and contributing to the show in some way or another since the beginning, including music and live #tumblr ing which becomes harder to explain as time goes by. They are a nice group of people who have been very morally and creatively supportive of me over the years, so featuring them occasionally in place of perhaps a soundcast that I've never heard before seems reasonable to me. With that in mind, this clip is from the end of January this year, Ep: "Babylon Is the Worst First Date". Hosts Marty and John talk nonsense, but just fast forward to hear the funny MIRP, Cassandra, talk about why weddings are bullshit and why Babylon is like disappointing sex. And that brings us more-or-less neatly to the end of this episode of "Succotash". I do hope you found something interesting and/or enjoyable in the last half hour or so of content. It's Oscar day as I write this, and will likely be Oscar night as I am recording this. I'm rooting for "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once" to win best picture. It's been nominated for 11 Oscars, and I hope they win nearly all of them. I say "Nearly" because one of the categories they've been nominated for is "Best Song", and although I'm sure that the Son Lux/Mitski/David Byrne song "This is a life" from E2A2O is perfectly fine, "Naatu Naatu" from "RRR" is also nominated, and that song is AWESOME. To be fair, I haven't listened to "This is a life" that closely…certainly not to the degree that I've heard "Naatu Naatu"…(sigh)…ok, I will be right back, I'm going to give the E2A2O song a closer listen. (pause) Ok, I have listened to it closely. I absolutely grok it.…But I still really want "Naatu Naatu" to win. At the very least, I hope to enjoy seeing the Oscar performance of "Naatu Naatu" later on YouTube. Assuming that there is an Oscar performance of "Naatu Naatu" planned…and why wouldn't there be? As I mentioned before, it is AWESOME. And so are you, for listening. The next episode will be hosted by Mr. Hershon, and it will most likely be numbered #348. We are sailing along to our 12 year anniversary of this show, and will see you when we get there, one way or another. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and should you be out there in the world with thoughts about anything you heard in this episode, and you feel any reason to share that information with other people, we'd appreciate that a great deal. It's what we mean when we ask you to PLEASE…Pass The Succotash. — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to this "Chats" episode of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, now in the last vestiges of its 11th year bringing you now 345 episodes including this one. Yes, this is Episode 345, which means that the last episode that dropped into our stream was episode 344 and THAT episode was also a Chats episode, hosted by show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon, with whom I share hosting duties with on an every-other-weekly basis. In Epi344, Mr. Hershon's guest was Josh Gilliland of The Legal Geeks soundcast, which, on their main webpage over at TheLegalGeeks.com is described as "The Legal Geeks, Jessica Mederson and Joshua Gilliland, are proud to be attorneys and geeks. Please enjoy their podcasts discussing everything from eDiscovery to Sci Fi and a lawyer's point of view on a universe of Geek culture." Mr. Hershon and Mr. Gilliland had a pretty interesting discussion in that episode that I listened to about 75-80 percent of before I had to stop listening due to some Mandalorian spoilers that I really wish I hadn't heard but, oh well, that's going to happen occasionally when people discuss pop culture. This week, as previously stated, is a "Chats" episode that features a fun conversation I had with comedian and musician Josh Barnes. We discuss many things including children's entertainment, fatherhood, musicals, horror movies, and conspiracy videos amongst other things including, but not limited to, Josh's first comedy special Petty Since '83, which you can find in audio form over at http://joshbarnescomedy.bandcamp.com or you can watch it up at http://watch.nextupcomedy.com Also catch his 2nd comedy special which I attended the filming of in late January of 2023 at the Savage Henry Comedy Club (whose large cast of performers and participants I have attempted to feature in various capacities over the recent years, here and there when I could, in clip form when those personalities have soundcasts.) My intention is to interview as many of the local comedians as I can in the coming year, and perhaps get back on stage myself, but that's just between you and me. I really appreciate Mr. Barnes taking the time, as his schedule is pretty full. This week's show is sponsored by our longtime, freeloading, FAKE sponsor Henderson's Pants and their stunning new Bivouac Briefs. Warning: This interview contains spoilers for a few movies, including Lady in the Water, The Village, Signs, and Cabin Fever, as well as Muppets from Space. Our next episode is 346 which will be helmed by Marc Hershon and I have no idea what he has in store for you...aside from the assumption that it will either be a "Clips" episode or a "Chats" episode... but even that can change. By the time you hear this, I will have had my birthday already, and likely I will have already begun my hunt for clips, or perhaps another chat, that I will present to you in about 2 weeks from then...for Episode 347. ...and that's the best prediction I can make for the near future. Will there be new episodes as we make our way to our 12 year mark this coming April? Most likely. Will we have an actual sponsor by then? Who can say? Will I be galloping toward 50? With any luck. At any rate, you can go to www.tysonsaner.com to find easily clickable links to my other content including Anti Social Show, an entirely other soundcast I co-host with Hunter Block, "Tyson Saner: Gamer" a video podcast that I make for my YouTube channel, and some of the music that I've been making over the years. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, consider leavin a 5-star review of our program if you enjoy any part of what we provide for you at no additional cost to you, and...should someone happen to inquire, perhaps completely randomly, if you have heard anything good or interesting lately, and this program leaps to the forefront of your consciouness, mentioning us in that moment really helps us out. It's what we mean when we gently remind you to please pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to Episode 343 of Succotash, The Comedy Soundast Soundcast! Established 2011 with regular weekly updates since 2020. We've been able to do that here at Succotash mostly due to the fact that I share every-other-weekly hosting duties with show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon who brought you clips last week in episode 342, from the soundcasts Extra Nuggets, Hollywood Gold, The Downside, and also a recent episode of Monster Party on which Mr. Hershon was a guest. You can find last week's episode along with our entire archive of episodes over at www.succotashshow.com or, if you are currently listening to us or have downloaded us from any of the streaming/downloading platforms from which you could do so — namely, places like Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music and many more…uh…that would work as well. This week, I've got clips from the soundcasts known as Life is Short with Justin Long, CineNation and High Low with Emrata. I've also decided to include a classic FAKE advertisement from our longtime FAKE sponsor who does not exist except on paper and in the hearts and minds of listeners. This episode will have posted on Valentine's Day, so I've chosen a special one that…well, you can decide how appropriate it is to the season once you hear it. CLIPS Life is Short with Justin Long I clipped this soundcast previously for Epi273 which dropped mid-October back in 2021. From the show's description: "Is it just me or is time flying by? How do we make the most out of our short time here on Earth? That's what we're here to find out. I'm Justin Long and I've been an actor for most of my life, so I'm used to getting inside the heads of the characters I play. But now that I'm getting older (I'm 43 now, yikes), I want to peek inside the heads of real people to learn how they find meaning in life. I'm also very curious what their favorite snack food is, and what emoji they use most often — ya know, the REALLY important stuff. Every episode I'll get personal with all kinds of people, from actors to musicians to deep thinkers who fascinate me. My brother, Christian, is on hand each episode to keep me honest, and occasionally remind me about some of the embarrassing things I've done over the years. Join us, or if you have more important things to do, that's okay too — life is short!" I clipped the episode from January 31st, 2023 with Dave Franco (Somebody I Used to KNow)and an emoji, the type of which I will not reveal as it is indicative of a specific bit of information contained within each interview. Sorry for being so cryptic, I try to be spoiler-free in specific types of circumstances involving symbology. TMI? On the show, the guest and Justin talk about their mutual love of cats, how he got into acting and the benefits of working with his wife, Alison Brie. CineNationAs described in Apple Podcast's version of a soundcast's liner notes: "The CineNation soundcast analyzes the histories and tropes of film genres and why we love them." The episode I've clipped is from February 2nd, 2023 - When Harry Met Sally (1989). For Episode 250, show hosts Brandon Sparks and Thomas Horton are starting their Rom-Com series with one of the best of all time. Listen as they discuss how When Harry Met Sally went from a basic idea to a classic of the genre. High Low with EmRataThe show practically introduces itself, when you read its description online: "Hi, I'm EmRata, aka Emily Ratajkowski. Maybe you know me from my work as an actress or model, or maybe you've read my bestselling book, "My Body". I'm interested in marrying everything high and low brow by talking pop culture and happenings that may seem frivolous in a way that raises big questions. On this podcast, I'll be talking everything from politics, philosophy, and feminism to sex, TikTok and relationships." Our clip hails from just a week ago, on February 6, 2023, and features guest Amber Rose, who - according to show notes - rose to prominence through several high profile relationships with famous rappers, but she has a whole lot more to say than gossip and rehash their history. On the show they discuss how she has reclaimed the labels “slut” and “bitch” through her event "Slut Walk", how she's raising her sons to respect women, classism, feminism and racism, and what she wants to see happen with men (and women!) when it comes to fighting misogyny. And that's where the clips run out, so welcome to the end of this week's episode. Hey, did you hear that a chunk of the sun "came off"? No, really…it did something like that. I only read the news about it today, and the source was a day old, so…we're still here as of one day later. This episode will have posted about three days from now if the usual set of circumstances has occurred and, the following week, Marc will be back with Episode #344 which I believe will be a "Chats" episode with guest Josh Gilliland, if I remember what was said in Epi342 correctly. Y'know…between pandemics and natural disasters happening in this lifetime, at this point in time, I could really use a hug. Also, I just saw Encanto for the first time and that was quite an emotional roller coaster…so, yeah…the hug thing. Maybe you aren't the hugging sort…no worries, you do you. Aside from all of that, the function of this show has alway been to provide the listener with a window into some listening options that they might otherwise never have known they had…So, I hope that I fulfilled that in a way you found interesting in any way, shape, or form, and that, as a result, you might listen again and/or suggest us to others as an option for them to listen to. We would really appreciate that. We do this out of love. So once again, I've been Tyson Saner wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day, asking you consider visiting www.tysonsaner.com, thanking you for listening, imploring you to be decent to each other, and reminding you to please pass the Succotash! — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, that numbers 341. This is the first episode that I've put together since putting together my Hundredth episode for episode 339. Yes, you heard me correctly, 339. If this is your first time here, I should explain that my hosting duties are shared in a more-or-less every other weekly tradeoff with show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon. Last week for episode 340, Mr. Hershon brought you a "Chats" episode in which was featured special guest, Dr. London Smith of The Jock Doc Podcast. It's a very entertaining episode that you could check out at your earliest convenience by going to our homesite, www.succotashshow.com, where you can find the entire archive of shows going back to March of 2011.…Or, I guess you could just use whatever podcast streaming service you are currently listening to us on and go back a week…that would probably work too. This week in Epi341 I've got clips from the soundcasts known as The Bancroft Brothers Animation Podcast, Willy Shaker", and The Hollywood Experience. this installment is sponsored by our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants and their Klept-O-Matic Trousers. (If you listened to Epi340 you will have heard a NEW advert from those aformentioned fictional freeloaders…which was quite enjoyable to hear.…So THAT's cool. Anyway, here is the clippage in store this time around… CLIPS The Bancroft Brothers Animation Podcast Twin animators Tom and Tony Bancroft get together and talk about their Disney Animation past, the present animation business, and the future of animation. Interviews with talented artists, inspirational words, and wild speculation will help you grow as a person - or not. Our clip is from Oct 21st, 2022, and features guest Henry Selick, the director of "A Nightmare Before Christmas" talking with the Bancrofts in HALLOWEEN MONTH! Willy ShakersFrom the show's description: "A soundcast where I talk about how much I love Willy. I hope if you listen you will love Willy too. No, Please get your mind out of the gutter, I mean William Shakespeare. So put the kettle on, grab yourself a cuppa and get your Willy out with me." I've selected a snippet from the first episode, which dropped at the beginning of this year, on January 5th, 2023. It's entitled "Much Ado About Nothing Act One: Good News Everybody!" We join host Billy Armstrong as he introduces us to the cast. The Hollywood Experience I clipped this soundcast originally for Episode 294, titled "Celebrity Adjacent" which dropped a bit over a year ago on March 1st, 2022. The host is actor, producer, and director Adrian Paul, who has over 200 hours of television and more than 35 film credits to his name. He talks with other actors, comic book creators, martial arts masters, showrunners, stunt professionals, and many others who have helped shape some of the most famous action films and TV shows in pop culture history. Joining him is co-host Ethan Dettenmaier, our old friend from Combat Radio. Our clip is from Episode #52 from January 16th, 2023, and features an interview with Claudia Christian (Babylon 5). And that brings Episode 341 almost completely to a close. I do hope you'll find something enjoyable in what I brought to you. It is my goal to provide at least 3 clips for the show I do every 2 weeks and sometimes it is surprisingly difficult to be in the mood to listen to folks I've never heard speak before. Sometimes, I just want to listen to one of my favorite soundcasts and that does become a bit of a tradeoff as far as time is concerned. Also, sometimes I am not in the mood for comedy. Funny thing, that. I love comedy and comedians, but burnout is real. All in all, I do think that listening to various strangers have conversations over the years has essentially made me a better listener. There's not enough space in my brain at the moment to remember if I have pointed that "better listener" thing out on the show before but…if I have…I can only apologize and say that it's just a true thing. I've had a lot of practice listening. Maybe, one day I will listen to YOU talking on a soundcast…and perhaps I will enjoy what I am hearing so much, I will try to find a clip from your soundcast to feature here on Succotas"…assuming that by the time you have your soundcast recorded, edited and published that "Succotash" is still a thing. I don't see why it wouldn't be…it's just that time is a very real thing, and it appears to be nothing if not finite. On that note, tune in next week for Epi342 where I imagine Marc Hershon will have something really neat for you to listen to. Thank you for listening, Be decent to each other, go to www.tysonsaner.com to find links to the rest of the stuff I have put out into the universe, and until I talk at you again please remember that there might be people in your life that would appreciate a suggestion of what to listen to on their own personal journey of soundcast listenership, and if you do think of us as a possible suggestion for them, we will always appreciate it if you could please pass the Succotash… — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to this episode of Succotash that numbers 339. This is my first fully produced episode for 2023, and I thank you for making this your listening destination for the next more-or-less half-hour of your life. Did you catch Epi338 last week? In it, executive producer and show creator Marc Hershon brought you an episode called "First-of-the-year Foursome" in which he selected for you a quartet of clips from the soundcasts known as SNAFU, The Retrospectors' Today in History, The Worst Idea of All Time, and Unpopular Opinion. Also in that episode a brand new advertisement from "our longtime, non-paying, and completely fake sponsor Henderson's Pants featuring the new Bottoms Up Cargo Pants, with a design inspired by our very own Bill Heywatt". So that's fun. On a serious note…It was pointed out in that episode that THIS episode of Succotash will be the 100th that I have assembled. Some very nice and thoughtful things were said in that episode regarding my contributions to Succotash over the years and I couldn't be more grateful to be a part of this operation going on 9 years this April. It's nice to be appreciated. This week on Succotash, I have 4 clips for you, from the soundcasts The Movies That Made Me, Of Mice and Men and Monsters, The Three Questions with Andy Richter, and…what's basically a bonus clip from Sensibly Cynical to lead off the proceedings…if that's the correct way to put things. And the whole shootin' match is brought to you by Henderson's Pants working man and woman's favorite: CoverAlls! CLIPS Sensibly Cynical Recently over at the soundcast known as Sensibly Cynical, host Sean Pratten put together a clip show comprised of moments he determined to be the "Best of 2022". I have been fortunate enough to be asked to guest on his program 5 times in recent years, and Sean graciously decided to include a snippet of one of our conversations that took place in 2022. Eventually, we put together a list that was a "Mount Rushmore" of rock music. This clip is from earlier in the conversation. The Movies That Made Me Filmmakers and entertainers discuss the movies that inspired them. Hosted by Oscar nominated screenwriter and Trailers From Hell guru Josh Olson and fearless leader himself, director Joe Dante. The Movies That Made Me is recorded live in Hollywood and engineered by film composer Don Barrett. Our clip is from the premiere episode which dropped back in July of 2018 with guest, director Miguel Arteta (Beatriz At Dinner, The Good Girl, Duck Butter), who joins to discuss his love for the movies of Russ Meyer. Of Mice And Men And MonstersFrom the show's description, this is a real play podcast where Dungeons & Dragons collides with the classic stories you either love or completely avoided while in school. Join players Aaron, Adam, Kimmie, and Dungeon Master Katelyn, who is also a high school English teacher by day, as D&D elements are dropped into famous pieces of literature. The clip comes from July 27th, 2022 - Chapter 49: "Macbeth - Part 1" - As our heroes arrive at Lady Macbeth's villa, the hunt for the 2nd mysterious page has officially begun! The Three Questions with Andy RichterAs the show's description enlightens us regarding this soundcast: host Andy Richter asks the same three questions to each guest: Where do you come from? Where are you going? What have you learned? These three simple questions, when answered honestly and thoughtfully, are enough to provide a pretty complete picture of who a person is. The answers are what Andy always wants to know about people. This will not be a one-sided process, as Andy won't shy away from getting personal himself. I'm clipping from right toward the end of this past year, the epi that dropped the day after Christmas. Andy's guests are The Sklar Brothers. Randy and Jason join Andy Richter to discuss the marriage of sports and comedy, finding their scene(s), going to the same college as your twin, and much more. Congratulations to us! We made it to the end of the beginning of Succotash 2023. Episode #339 comes more-or-less neatly to a close, and here we all are tearfully waving at it from the docks as it heads for the Undying Lands of the internet where nothing really goes away unless magnets… Hopefully?…We will have hard drives in our heads that will be magnetically shielded against accidental EMPs or perhaps M.R.I. machines…I'm not 100% sure how all that works, but I am grasping at straws. Maybe things are supposed to go away regardless of modern methods of record-keeping. The more I think about it, I realize that all methods of record-keeping were "modern" at one point. Thankfully, we have the podcast — or the soundcast as we refer to them here on Succotash — as a way of keeping records that exist as long as the methods that preserve them are sound, and people take the time to listen to them. So, thank you for taking some of your time to listen to us. We really appreciate it. Perhaps you'd like to share your experience of us with other people? We'd also appreciate that. And tank you to everyone at Succotash for making me feel welcome over the years…Thank you, the audience, for being with us whenever you are or were. Be decent to each other, and if someone asks you if you have heard anything good or interesting lately, and we happen to qualify as your answer…won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, Feliĉan Kristnaskon, Feliĉa Ĥanuko, and if you are listening to this between or after December 26th 2022 to January 1st 2023, Feliĉa Kwanzaa! Welcome to Episode #335 of Succotash that is the last episode before Christmas of 2022. I am Tyson Saner, and I will be your host for the duration. If you listened to last week's Epi334, then you know that it was hosted by show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon, with whom I share hosting duties with for alternating episodes. In that episode you were no doubt delighted to enjoy the content that he brought you in the form of a show titled Season's Clippings!, which featured five, count 'em, FIVE clips from other peoples' soundcasts, namely the shows known as Hey, Riddle, Riddle; Jordan Klepper Fingers the Conspiracy; Man Thinkers; The Salty Language Podcast AND Fandom!. Also, there was no spot from our longtime FAKE sponsor "Henderson's Pants" to be heard in that episode. There was, instead, a brand-new spot from Bill Heywatt offering his Master Class…on running master classes. It's a well-stuffed stocking of an episode, and I urge you to check it out whenever you can. It is still available to listen to thru the listening platforms Apple & Google Podcasts, Spotify, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Audible, iHeart Radio, YouTube, Amazon Music, PodBay, Podchaser, and at our homesite SuccotashShow.com, where we have that episodes and all of the other ones dating back almost 12 years in the Succotash archives. But that was last week, and this is this week, and for this week I've got 3 clips for you from the soundcasts known as Hollywood Palms Podcast, The Besties, and The Viral Podcast. I've also decided to include a classic Holiday Season Henderson's Pants ad because…'tis the season. I can't think of any reason to delay the proceedings any further, so let's get to it. CLIPS Hollywood Palms Podcast Genius Royale presents the Hollywood Palms Podcasts, wherein each week they interview a guest and then give them a palm reading and talk about their past, present and future. Our clip is snipped from recent Episode 4 from November, 2022, and features guest Sara Benincasa, host of the Well, This Isn't Normal soundcast and author of "Real Artists Have Day Jobs", "Agorafabulous!" and more! The Besties As the show's description goes, "It's 'Game of the Year' meets 'King of the Hill' as four of Earth's best friends – Griffin McElroy, Justin McElroy, Chris Plante, and Russ Frushtick – rank and review their favorite video games. Because shouldn't the world's best friends pick the world's best games?" Our selected snippet is from November 17th, 2022, an episode netitled "Boldly Going Where No Hedgehog's Gone Before in Sonic Frontiers", and in this clip is the end of the conversation about the game "Somerville", which leads into a conversation about the game "Pentiment" on Xbox Game Pass. The Viral Podcast I read that hosts Chelcie Lynn and Paige Ginn are comedians — not therapists — but they have a soundcast which is pretty much the same thing. We sample that in this clip from Epi60 from earlier this month, when the hosts talked about terrible roommates, human tables, goals, salt baths, self help, jokes, would-you-rathers, Oh Do Me, and much more! And that brings us more or less neatly to the end portion of Epi335. I do hope you find something in this episode that was enjoyable, and perhaps you will go in search of one or all of the soundcasts you heard to listen to more of their content. If you do, tell 'em Succotash sent you. You'd be doing us a huge favor and we appreciate you for it. We also appreciate your listening to the end of this episode so you can hear me tell you how much you are appreciated. In the spirit of the season and of the idea itself, be sure to remember to tell those that you appreciate that you do, as often as you can. I feel like that might help foster a social environment that will be more beneficial to the overall psyche of society…if that's a thing. I believe it can be. So, until after Christmas, I've been Tyson Saner wishing you the happiest of holiday seasons that could ever be possible. Thank you Marc Hershon, Joe Paulino, Bill Heywatt, Kenny Durgess, and Scott Carvey for more than a decade of the feeling that I belong somewhere. Enjoy Episode 336, see you again in Episode 337…probably…Be decent to each other and, If you wouldn't mind, please…pass the Succotash. — Marc Hershon
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, one of two rotating hosts of this soundcast called Succotash that numbers 333. Your other host is Marc Hershon who created this show more than 11 years ago to bring you a variety of clips from soundcasts from all around the internet as well as the occasional interview. Shows 331 and 332 were "Second Helping" episodes that we dug out from the archive to give you, the audience, another chance to listen to them. Episode 331 contained my interview with J. Elvis Weinstein from episode 292. Episode 332 contained one of Marc's chats with Mike Birbiglia from episode 217. You can check out either of those episodes and a metric butt-ton more in the show archive at www.succotashshow.com. The show you are listening to this time around is a new episode with fresh content from the soundcasts known as Tough Drafts, The Crazy Life, and Barnes, Brenner, and Fitzgerald. Also included in this program is a preview clip from a forthcoming episode of The Bitter Sound from podcaster extraordinare and friend of Succotash, Davian Dent. Here's the rundown on the clips this week - enjoy the listen! CLIPS Tough Drafts Simple premise: Screenwriting gurus Steve Clark, Andrew Heder, Kody Schmidt, and Peterson Peters giving tough notes on first drafts of scripts. Our clip is from the episode from November 30th, 2022, entitled "The Casting Assistant", with special guests Jeremy Culhane & Angela Giarratana from Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists! The Crazy Life The Crazy Life soundcast was founded by Gen and Bryan in 2015 to shine a light on the funny side of mental illness. The show features those two and Henno, who pull aside the shame curtain that surrounds mental health. Our featured clip is from the episode from November 19, 2022, entitled "Masking", with Gen and Bryan talk about spending time with yourself, being truthful to yourself by learning new terms for something, then they talk about the topic of masking, and more! (Here's a link to the article by Kimberly Drake referenced on the show: https://psychcentral.com/autism/autism-masking-why) Barnes, Brenner, and Fitzgerald Exclusively on Spotify, iHeart Radio & Anchor.fm, BB&F feature three comics — Joshua Barnes, Lauren Brenner, and Eric Fitzgerald — talking shit about life and various other topics. Our clip was harvested from their second episode that dropped October 20th, 2022, entitled "Space, Where Billionaires Go to Die", in which is discussed (as the episode description indicates) The River in Humboldt, Space, and Billionaires abandoning up for the stars. The Bitter SoundIn place of our usual phony ad from fake sponsor Henderson's Pants, we have a clip from what I'm told is a future episode of The Bitter Sound", created by friend-of-Succotash Davian Dent. Its description says that it is "A stereophonic journey into a world of dark comedy, music and strange audio." And hey, just when it is feeling good to be back another show comes to a close. Isn't that the way of things? I do hope you found something of interest in the offerings placed before your hungry-hungry earholes. I listen to a LOT of podcasts, and every time I say that it is even more true. I'm almost certain that I will not be able to hear everyone's podcast at least once before I die due to time and life constraints but I am ok with that…I still listen to a LOT of podcasts…and I usually refer to them as "soundcasts" within the confines of this show as well as when I explain what the show is to other people. It doesn't come up that often. It's usually related to the "So, what do you do?" part of a getting-to-know-someone conversation, and I don't really have those all that often. I suspect as the world opens up more I will get that opportunity so I guess it is good to practice. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, tune in next time for Epi334 hosted by Marc Hershon and, if someone asks you if you heard anything good or interesting lately (and we have something to do with your answer), won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I am not here right now... I am on "Vacation" for Turkey Day this month and this particular episode of Succotash you are listening to is actually a "Second Helping" of Succotash. If you hadn't already heard it, now is your chance to hear me stumble my way thru my interview with J. Elvis Weinstein from Epi 292 of Succotash in an episode appropriately titled "Chatting Up J. Elvis Weinstein". If you don't know who J. Elvis Weinstein is... then keep listening to this "Second Helping" episode starting in 3, 2, 1… And a Happy Turkey Day season to you if that is what you are observing at this time of year. I don't know enough about what other folks around the world do in late November to celebrate things and I really don't have time to do that now as I need to pack for the "Vacation" that I spoke of in the explanatory Intro section so I'll just wish everyone peace, love and good food and be sure to tune in for Epi332 which Marc Hershon will be curating for you. Be decent to each other. And, if someone asks if you're heard anything good lately — especially at Thanksgiving dinner — don't forget to pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, Epi #329. I will be you host for the duration of the program. It's the beginning of November, 2022 and that means that, if this show drops on Tuesday like normal, it's Voting Day! You can be forgiven for listening to this on Wednesday or later… Or you could probably listen to this in line to vote if you haven't already mailed in your ballot or simply deposited it in a dropbox if you've got one handy. Fingers crossed for a Blue Wave, eh? Maybe it's not your thing…thank you for listening anyway. This show is about featuring soundcast clips and doing interviews with folks related to soundcasts, usually of a comedic nature. For instance, last week in Episode #328, show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon brought you a well-packed candy bag of clips from the soundcasts Endless Honeymoon, Hamish & Andy, DorkNation, and Callan's Kicks…PLUS a clip from frequent guest of Succotash Dana Carvey's new scripted comedy soundcast The Weird Place AND a poignant parody song from Succotash producer Joe Paulino called "Young Man", which is a take on Neil Young's "Old Man" and is credited to "Neil Olde". So, there's a LOT going on in that episode, and I urge you to check it out at your earliest convenience. You can still find it wherever you find soundcasts to listen to as well as in the show archive over at www.succotashshow.com. This week, in THIS show, I've got clips for you from the soundcasts known as My Pleasure, Gender Reveal, and Pen Pals. I've also got a Henderson's Pants ad for you that probably would have been more thematically appropriate a couple weeks ago but…oh well. They ARE a fake sponsor after all so… it's not like they are a secret government organization paying close attention to what we do or something daft like that. Anyway, thank you for listening. I now present to you the roster of this episode's clips: CLIPS My PleasureThe show description goes: "Welcome to My Pleasure. Listen every Thursday for the latest hot girl homework, taste of the week and top 5-ish from Esther Povitsky." Our clip was snipped from the episode the dropped from October 20th, just last month, ansdwas entitled, "Esther Anonymous", in which Esther dipped into chat about 12-step program talk, top five favorite movies to re-watch, and a NEW take on Kanye. Gender Reveal Hosted by Tuck Woodstock, the show's description reads: "Welcome to Gender Reveal, a podcast about nonbinary and transgender folks. Join us as we interview notable trans guests, analyze current events, answer advice questions and get a little bit closer to understanding what the heck gender is." OUr clips is from a-ways back. 4 years back, in fact, from January 16th of 2018 - with guest Eden Rohatensky, whom Tuck talks to about such topics as adding a non-binary voice to the #MeToo movement, the difficulties of coming out as non-binary in other languages, how coming out helped Eden recognize their privilege, navigating the tech industry as a non-straight-white-dude, and exploring the question: Is gender a spooky ghost? The Pen Pals PodcastAs the show's description promises: "Every week, your pen pals, Daniel Van Kirk and Rory Scovel, respond to the letters you send them on topics ranging from free will to freeway etiquette, from mental health to manatees. Seek advice. Tell a story. Vent. Send a letter. It's your podcast, we just talk about it." Our featured clip is lovingly harvested from their episode from just a few week's ago, on October 26th, 2022, and features a guest: Chad Daniels. It's entitled "RE: Turning 40 & Chips". Once you've given this 'sode a listen that will be another installment in the past…well most of it anyway; there's still this part left: The part where I say that I hope you find something enjoyable in this presentation of curated content handpicked specially for you, the listener. It's the part where I urge you to check out my other content over at www.tysonsaner.com and also this show's archive at www.succotashshow.com because, after you leave us, I would hope that you would seek to spend more time with us in your future. You could wait until next week when show #330 drops, most likely to be hosted by Mr. Hershon who is, no doubt at this very moment, like actually NOW in MY timeline, on the hunt for the content that he will undoubtedly bring you. So, until next time I talk to you, be decent to each other, consider leaving a 5-star review of our show, and if someone you know is in search of something to listen to, but doesn't know where to start, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Epi 327 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I am your host for the duration of this program and I've got some clips for you…as this is a "clips" episode of Succotash. Last week in Episode 326, Executive Producer and creator of this 11+ years-old soundcast, Marc Hershon, sat down with returning guest Dana Carvey to talk about his upcoming soundcast "The Weird Place" amongst other things. It's a pretty entertaining time as always, and you can still find that episode to listen to over at our homesite www.succotashshow.com or wherever you might usually find the soundcasts you listen to, including where you found us…assuming that you found us at Stitcher, Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Deezer, iHeart Radio, and even Spotify apparently. But, that was last episode, and this is this episode, and this episode has clips from various soundcasts from around the internet, specifically Add to Cart, I, Podius, and 2 Spooky 2 Handle. I've also got a classic FAKE advertisement from our faithful, longtime FAKE sponsor Henderson's Pants for you that has proved to be pretty evergreen…somewhat unfortunately in spots. I will let you decide for yourself what those unfortunate spots are. Alright, without further delay, let's get to the clips… Add to Cart with Kulap Vilaysack & SuChin PakI think this is the first soundcast I've clipped from Lemonada Media. "Here's what the show's official description has to say: Join the hosts of Add to Cart, comedian-writer-director Kulap Vilaysack and veteran journalist SuChin Pak, in a subversive take on consumerism. Each week, they have honest, revealing (sometimes TMI) conversations about all the big and little things they're adding to, or removing from, their carts. They decide what's worth the monetary/emotional investment, and what's not. From beauty products and health trends, to celebrities and philosophies they're passionate about, our hosts dig into anything we buy into and what it says about who we are." This clip is from the recently aired episode that dropped on September 27th of this year, entitled "Add to Cart: Baby" And host Ku has some personal news. With a full heart (and cart), she's getting ready to welcome home a new member of the family! And of course, she's sharing what's in her cart for this life-changing occasion. (Please note, Add To Cart contains mature themes and may not be appropriate for all listeners.) I, Podius A twelve episode weekly series, I,, Podius, featureshosts John Hodgman and Elliott Kalan recapping the BBC miniseries I, Claudius, an adaptation of Robert Graves' "I, Claudius" and "Claudius the God". The gimmick? John's watched the show before. Elliott's watching for the first time. The miniseries features an obscenely talented ensemble cast, and is chock full of sex, backstabbing and murder. This ain't your daddy's I, Claudius!. Well, actually it is as the series premiered in 1976. But this ain't your daddy's I, Claudius-based podcast! Parental discretion advised. Our clip is from the very first episode, "A Touch of Murder"/"Family Affairs", which dropped back on February 17th of 2020 - just about a month before all the COVID trouble started. Earwolf Presents: 2 Spooky 2 HandleFrom the show's description: "Are you tingling 4 terror? Slutty 4 slashers? Freaky 4 fright?! Mano Agapion and Betsy Sodaro are bringing you their classic, stupid love of all things horror all month long to Earwolf Presents! There will be possessed dolls, haunted houses, updates from your favorite monsters, and the ultimate villain showdown in our March Madness style SCARY BOWL! Follow @Earwolf on Twitter for more #2Spooky2Handle updates!" This clip hails from just back around the corner a few weeks - October 6th of this month, to be exact. It's called "Ghost Haunting is Like Dating". In the first episode of this special spooky series, hosts Betsy and Mano buy a possessed doll to haunt Earwolf Studios, check in with their favorite monsters (featuring Lauren Lapkus), and decide on the ultimate villain in the SCARY HORNY BOWL. And there it went, the last episode of Succotash. That I will be hosting. Before Halloween 2022. Because the next time I host it will be into November. Recently, I released an October Special Non-Sequential episode of Anti Social Show, which I co-host with Hunter Block, and we made a video-only episode specifically for YouTube. It is an exploration of Halloween Themed A.I. art that I generated in advance of our recording. You can find that episode at www.tysonsaner.com or you can go to YouTube and Google my name and Halloween and the show I am talking about should pop up where you can find it. Next week in Episode 328, Marc will be back to bring you something else to listen to that is most likely to be entertaining in some way to you. In the meantime, if you liked what you heard from us, there is a LOT more hearing to be had…or heard…in our back catalog. It goes back 11 years. You might also consider giving us a decent review in whatever format your particular listening platform makes available for that specific function. And hey…if someone asks you if you have heard anything good or interesting lately, and either of those stipulations makes you think of us…won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner and you are listening to Succotash. If this is your first time here, welcome. I hope you will find something to enjoy in the soundcast you are about to listen to. If you have listened to Succotash before, welcome back! Thank you for choosing to spend your time with us AGAIN. If the time you listened before was last week's episode, show 324 called “Debate, Argument, Brits & Smut” hosted by show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon, then you know why you are not hearing him in this episode. Incidentally, in that episode you heard the clips from the soundcasts If I Were You, The Legal Geeks, Off Menu, and Pornomedy…and you can still find that episode in the archive at www.succotashshow.com if you would like to hear it again. We've been alternating the hosting duties pretty consistently for the last 2 1/2 years of our 11+ years of this show…so that is why this week's episode, #325, is hosted by me…Tyson Saner.…and in this episode I've got clips from the soundcasts Word In Your Ear, Going Deep from "Earwolf Presents", and Bubble. I've got another classic advertisement from our 100% FAKE SPONSOR "Henderson's Pants" and their legendary Flying Jodphurs for you later in the program. CLIPS Word In Your EarFrom the show description for Word In Your Ear, we learn that Mark Ellen and David Hepworth have been talking about and writing about music together and individually for a collective eighty years in magazines like Smash Hits, Mojo and The Word and on radio and TV programmes like "Rock On", "Whistle Test" and VH-1. Over 13 years ago, when working on the late magazine The Word, they began producing podcasts. Some listeners have been kind enough to say these have been very special to them. When the magazine folded in 2012 they kept the spirit of those podcasts alive in regular Word In Your Ear evenings in which they spoke to musicians and authors in front of an audience. Our clip comes from the episode that dropped just a couple of weeks ago, on September 27, 2022, entitled "Hilary Mantel, Zappa track or ad slogan and the day Beefheart sold Aldous Huxley a vacuum-cleaner". The snippet we have is from a bit of fun near the beginning of the program followed by a bit of seriousness and some thoughts on how commentary and narrative are intertwined…is how I interpret what I am hearing. Going DeepFrom the description: Welcome to the office of America's "most acclaimed couples therapist," Diana Deep (Lily Sullivan). Listen and learn as she counsels couples using her infamous “hands-on” approach to help husbands, wives, lovers, thruples, first-daters, booty calls, and on-again off-again sexters. This improv comedy podcast parodies couples therapy in ways that will make you laugh, cry, and go "Deep" into your own relationships. The clip was harvested from the episode entitled "Culture Shock Catharsis with Nick Wiger & Heather Anne Campbell", in which Dr. Deep speaks with Helga (Heather Anne Campbell) and Guy (Nick Wiger) about their disagreement over Helga's fifth oven purchase. Dr. Deep leads this session down the proverbial "trail of breadcrumbs" to reveal the lies at the core of their marriage. (This episode and other episodes are in the "Earwolf Presents" listings at this time but are originally in the "Stitcher Exclusive" category, but if you want access to what I presume is all of the show's episodes then you will need access to Stitcher Premium.) Bubble The show's description goes a little something like this: Welcome to Fairhaven, a literal Bubble of corporate utopia set amid the wild, goblin-infested Brush. The first scripted comedy series from Maximum Fun, Bubble was created by Jordan Morris (Jordan and Jesse Go), and tells the tale of a small band of monster killers struggling to make ends meet and find love in a nightmarish version of the gig economy. Starring: Alison Becker (Parks and Recreation), Keith Powell (30 Rock), Cristela Alonzo (Cristela), Eliza Skinner (The Late Late Show) and Mike Mitchell (Love), with appearances by Judy Greer, John Hodgman, Martin Starr, Paul F. Tompkins, and many, many more. I clipped this snip from back in the before time - June of 2018 - their very first installment entitled "Huntrs". Morgan, who is good at killing monsters, gets a new gig and a new partner. And that's all I have for you in this episode. I do hope you find something that you enjoy or at least to be interesting enough to experience again. I've already got ideas for what I will clip for the next episode I bring you, but that isn't for a couple weeks in my timeframe so why even bring it up? Maybe it is the holiday season that is rapidly approaching, encroaching…whatever you prefer. I think about time a LOT lately. That is to say, I consider how it can pass without notice sometimes, and every now and then something notable occurs which makes me stop and consider how fast life really seems to be happening. My parents just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with my brother and I and our spouses, and that too was over in an eyeblink. Now I am here writing about it, and in a moment I will be done writing about it…and soon I will read these words into a microphone, edit all the audio together, and create a presentation that you will experience in more-or-less a half an hour of your life. So thank you for spending that time listening to us. I recently added a few new links to my content over at www.tysonsaner.com including my TikTok and my new Redbubble store. I might as well mention that because you are already here and listening so I'd be a fool to not make the best of that opportunity. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, check this feed next week for show #326 hosted by Marc Hershon, and if you think we are good enough to share with other people then we would be forever grateful to you if you were to pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, Episode #323. Welcome! I'm glad you made it. Last week on Epi322 of Succotash, show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon, whom I alternate hosting duties with, brought you a quartet of clips for a show that he titled "Interesting Behaviors". The clips were from the soundcasts known as My Neighbors Are Dead, The Doug Stanhope Podcast, Sarah Halstead's Drinking During Business Hours, and Were You Raised By Wolves? They made for an enjoyable episode that I urge you to listen to at your earliest convenience. You can still find that episode and EVERY episode of Succotash going back to the first episodes from way back in 2011 at www.succotashshow.com and also on most soundcast streaming services including, but probably not limited to, Apple & Google Podcasts, Spotify, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeart Radio, PodBay, and Podchaser. This week's episode, "Autumn Triple Play", contains three clips, one of each from the soundcasts known as On The Rocks: Where Celebrities & Cocktails Mix, Gutting the Sacred Cow", and Chatabix. This week's show is broght to you by our longtime (and 100% FAKE SPONSOR) Henderson's Pants and their new Fancy Pants for Fops. Let's get to it. CLIPS Gutting The Sacred CowFrom the show's description: Standup comedians Kevin Gootee and Kevin Israel love films and they love arguing about them. But in this unique podcast; they invite guests to come in and argue why some of the most financially successful, beloved or acclaimed films are trash. But here's the twist, the film must meet 1 of these criteria: widely beloved, financial success, or critically acclaimed. So no dunking on Friday the 13th part 8, we all know that's an egregious piece of s--. We give a platform with those who have unpopular opinions to be bold enough to voice them. Some films that have faced scrutiny: Back to the Future, The Dark Knight, Toy Story, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the Matrix, and Die Hard. Can the guests persuade us? Or do we rip them a new one? Give us a listen and we'll easily prove that we belong on any top movie podcast list. My clip comes from very recently - September 17th, 2022 - Entitled "Noodles from the Offspring FLUSHES Christmas Vacation DOWN THE SEWER": Episode 152. joining Kevin Gootee as co-host for this installment is longtime friend Terry Loda. On The Rocks: Where Celebrities & Cocktails MixTV & radio personality Alexander Rodriguez, along with co-host Stephanie Erb, sips and chats with your favorite celebrities from TV, film, Broadway, music, reality TV and pop culture in this weekly, entertainment, no holds barred talk show. Academy Award, Emmy Award, Grammy Award, Tony Award, Golden Globe Award winners – Alexander's drank with them all! It's talk radio with a twist! Our clip is from back in the Spring of this year - March, to be a bit more precise - and is entitled Gedde Watanabe (Sixteen Candles, Mulan, ER) Chats Diversity in Hollywood. I really liked hearing this interview. I chose a clip from the very beginning of it because I do love a big, detailed introduction and when an interview has the amount of warmth that this one clearly does. Chatabix This was recommended to me by none other than Davian Dent of Strange Times Podcast (longtime friend of Succotash and frequently clipped.) What's the show about? Basically, comedians David Earl & Joe Gillingham chat drivel and nonsense. A shambolic Breakfast Show with Special Guests and regular contributors. The clip we have dropped on September 12th, 2022, featuring guest Doug Stanhope. Wow, it seems like only a few minutes ago I was writing the intro to the show and now this bit at the end needs writing as well. Isn't that the way of things? I do hope you found something enjoyable in the program tonight…I say "tonight" for a couple of reasons, one is that it is actually night when I am recording this part, and the other is because, more often that not, I used to say that regardless of what time of day it was when I recorded…and now I still do. I appreciate your taking some of your time out to listen to what I selected for you. If you are now inspired to learn more about the entertainments you were just exposed to, you are free to do that. Maybe you'll come back to listen to the next show which would be Epi324 and will most likely be hosted by Marc Hershon. Maybe you've already listened to #324 because it is far enough in the future that you are listening to the episodes backwards, or just generally out-of-sequence for whatever reason you choose. Maybe you are an electric audio archivist far into the future when myself and everyone else I know, or knew of, are long dead and you are navigating the audio virtually with A.I. generated art to represent us soundcaster ghosts visually in some way. In any of those scenarios I do hope you have the oppourtunity to share us with others. We'd really appreciate it. Maybe, in your present, I still have the webpage www.tysonsaner.com which you could visit to check out links to another soundcast I co-host with Hunter Block called "Anti Social Show". There are also links to my YouTube channel which mostly features videos of myself playing video games. At this point in history, it is September of 2022 so I've just recently published an episode where I play "Slime Rancher 2" and give my first impressions of it. And finally, maybe, when you are checking those things out you will remember that you listened to this show at some point and discovered a soundcast that you will listen to every episode that you possibly can of it. Sometimes it works that way. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other and please remember to pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. I will be your host for the duration of this episode, which happens to be #321…contact, it's the secret, it's the moment when everything happens…and in THIS particular case, it is an episode that will be bringing you clips from other people's soundcasts for you to sample, and perhaps seek more of to listen to over the course of your natural, listening lives… it happens. Last week in Epi320, show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon brought you an episode of Succotash that took on the alternate form of the show known as a "Chats" episode. In that episode, Mr. Hershon welcomed guest Christine Blackburn. Who, in addition to hosting a live show called Story Worthy, and the story-telling game show soundcast Story Smash, has now launched her newest soundcast called My Life in 3 Songs featuring comedians talking about a trio of songs that heavily influenced their life and, often, careers. I really enjoyed listening to that episode, and so might you. It's sill available to listen to thru services such as Apple & Google Podcasts, Soundcloud, Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible.com, iHeart Radio, Podbay, Podchaser, and Stitcher. Of course you can also find it and EVERY episode of Succotash thru it's many iterations over the last 11+ years at www.succotashshow.com. This week, I have a trio of clips of soundcasts for you to consider for future listening. They are from the soundcasts known as Last Week on Earth with Ben Gleib, Best Friends Back, Alright!, and The Fckry with Leslie Jones and Lenny Marcus. It's almost inconceivable to imagine putting together an episode of Succotash without including a classic advertisement from our 100% fake sponsor Henderson's Pants, but it totally could happen one day. (If, for instance, a REAL sponsor would be willing to take us on. … One can dream.) in the meantime, this episode of the show is brought to you by their Picnic Pants! Ok, that's enough preamble from me so without further faffing about… let's get to the clips! CLIPS Last Week on Earth with Ben Gleib From the show description: News. Pop Culture. Politics. Weird stories. EVERYTHING that happened during the last week. Comedian Ben Gleib catches you up on it all, while making fun of basically everything. Some people tell him this podcast is the way they prefer to get the news. He thinks these people are geniuses. Sometimes he's joined by celebrity guests like comedians, actors, politicians, Four-Star Generals, and his parents. But mostly he talks to himself. If you've been in a coma for the last 7 days, this podcast should not be high on your list of things to tackle. Our clip hails from last month, August 13th, 2022, an episode entitled "The New Season Starts Now!" - (The previous episode posted September 2nd, 2021) Ben catches us up on everything since last season. Including his new hour special "The Mad King" which dropped on YouTube Aug 14th! Best Friends Back, Alright! The show's description at Apple Podcasts goes something liek this: "Oh my God, they're back again. Stevie Wynne Levine (Good Mythical Morning with Rhett & Link) and her high school best friend, Neagheen Homaifar, haven't been friends for over fifteen years. Can they rekindle their best friendship through a weekly podcast? Some things never change, and some things do. My clip is from their premier episode that dropped back in March, called "Beyoncé Stole Our Inside Joke." The hosts reconnect after a decade and a half, and set the scene of their best friendship back in 2002 at Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC. They recount various events that defined their adolescence; from George W. Bush choking on a pretzel, to the release of the film "Holes," to the launch of YouTube. Neagheen tries to decipher the strange things she wrote in Stevie's yearbook. The Fckry with Leslie Jones and Lenny Marcus As this show's homebase Earwolf describes the show: Keeping it 100 is Leslie Jones' mission and any fckry will not be tolerated. Each week Leslie and her co-host, Lenny Marcus, expose the fckry of any given topic and they have a fun time doing it. They interview special guests and answer listener questions. Plus, in the ‘fckry of the week' segment, Leslie and Lenny call out people, places, things or situations. Nothing is off limits and you don't want to miss it." Our selected snippet was harvested from the August 17th episode of this year, entitled "Use Ya MuthaF'ckin' T*****s" w/guest Denita Abernethy Holmes, although our clip takes place before the guest appears. And another episode is in the can and on its way to the archives over at www.succotashshow.com … and pretty much everywhere else one can listen to soundcasts. I do hope you find something interesting and/or funny in the offerings presented to you in this episode. I aim to please. I sometimes feel that the amount of listening to soundcasts that I do, not only for Succotash but also in my everyday life, has had some sort of effect on my brain. The way I process information, perhaps. I could say that I have a lot of practice listening to people talk. I never could have foreseen the amount of active listening that is now a regular part of my existence. I mean, I used to listen to a LOT of music before discovering soundcasts because I also make music occasionally but that's not the same kind of listening, really. There have to be other people that spend as much, or possibly even more, of their time listening to people have conversations that they cannot participate in in real time as I do. I wonder what percentage of listeners of soundcasts experience them the way I have for easily 13 years? Anybody know of any ongoing studies? Seriously, I really want to know. I need to know if I should do less of it in case there is any sort of detrimental effect on my brain as a result. Maybe it's fine. Maybe, in the most general sense, our brains can take it. My ears aren't bleeding yet, so that's gotta count for something, right? Anyway, speaking of listening, thank YOU for doing exactly that. If you liked what you heard, tune in next week for Epi322 in which Marc will bring you whatever he desires to share with you. In the meantime, be decent to each other, go to www.tysonsaner.com to find all my links to the stuff I choose to share with you, and if anyone asks you if you have heard anything interesting lately, and we spring to mind, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to Epi319 of Succotash. And thank you for making us your destination for this period of listening that you are currently embarking upon. This show started 11+ years ago as a way to feature comedy people and their podcasts, which we here at Succotash have been calling "soundcasts" as a way to attempt to separate the medium from the dead format known as the iPod that it is named for. As time went on, the soundcast proliferated in a way that is still quite surprising at times. More's the merrier, more for show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon and myself to choose to listen to, take snippets from, and ultimately present a few of them to you, the listener. If this is the first soundcast that you've ever listened to I'd like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing us. I've got 3 clips to share with you, but first: I'd like to point out that last week in Episode #318 of Succotash, Mr. Hershon brought you a quadrilogy of clips from soundcasts that contain comedy AND sports, namely Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson, Sportsfeld, The Grade Cricketer (that included guest commentary from our friend Jason "Jabs" McNamara (The DHead Factor, Boganwood) from Canberra, Australia), and View from the Cheap Seats. It is the first time in this show's history that it has featured an all-sports-related soundcast lineup, and I found it to be actually quite an interesting listen. You can find that episode in our show archive at www.succotashshow.com or pretty much wherever you might listen to soundcasts in your own personal future. The clips I will be sharing with you this week are from the soundcasts called Jake Yapp presents: Not Today, Thank You, Strong Songs, and Trashy Trashy. I feel like this episode is loaded with feminine energy, but I'm not sure that I am the best person to evaluate that. I will let the listener decide. This episode is sponsored by Henderson's Pants new Pushover Pants, the perfect trouser for those who feel a mite unbalanced. CLIPS Jake Yapp Presents: Not Today, Thank YouA once-daily-now-occasional podcast featuring Jake Yapp, as seen and heard on Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, Radio 4 and 6Music. Our clip hails from the episode that dropped on October 7th, 2020, with guest Ellen Rose entitled "Game Saves". Interestingly, there is no mention of Ms. Rose in the show description, nor is there any additional information about her…so I looked her up! According to a page on youtube.fandom.com/wiki/Icklenellierose she is listed as an "English YouTuber best known for being a host of Outside Xtra, as well as being a former host of Xbox On." Strong Songs Music: it's good. On each episode of Strong Songs, host Kirk Hamilton takes listeners inside a piece of music, breaking it down and figuring out what makes it work. This soundcast features the type of granular approach to music analysis that, as a lifelong music nerd, I appreciate a great deal. I took a clip from the August 11th, 2022, show entitled, "Help Me" by Joni Mitchell. (Host's note: I have listened to a few episodes of Strong Songs" and had been looking for an excuse to clip the show for our show. Thankfully, this episode I have clipped for you happened, and I could not resist the urge to clip this show any longer, as this is one of my all-time favorite songs!) Trashy Trashy I first featured a clip of Trashy Trashy's 3rd episode way back in August of 2020 and now, they have reached their 100th episode, and are steadily sailing ahead to their 200th, one would presume. Over the last 2 years, this soundcast has become one of my weekly regular listens that I try to make a point of getting to when it drops, usually on Monday of every week. For those who have never heard it before, the description says: "A podcast for garbage people by garbage people. We cover trashy news stories. Hosted by Cassandra Cardenes and Erika Curry. This clip, featuring dog parks and their people, is from their episode 101, from August 8th of 2022, titled #NOTALLDRESSING - In which, its episode description is a repeat of the previously mentioned SHOW description. It also includes their social media links, and a series of links to all of the news stories they are sourcing for this particular episode, including the weekly inclusion of a "Dumpster Fire of the Week" story. And that completes your journey through the selected bits of audio that other people took the time to commit to a more-or-less permanent format, that I have taken the time to commit to an additional more-or-less permanent format, that you have taken some of your time to listen to, and I am very grateful for that. I am grateful for a great many things of late. I am grateful for the friends and family that I both have had and, through the recent nuptials of my brother, I now have. Or…I also have…now… Something like that. It was an amazing time seeing many people I had not for 20-30 years perhaps. It was amazing food and the ceremony was both very moving and succinct. I'm grateful that my parents were able to attend a marriage of their child, in their lifetime. I'm grateful for the furiously expanding amount of perspective that time and life has brung, and is bringing to me. I can even say that I am grateful for the soundcast as a format. I don't know if any of my assorted audio content post-2002 would have even existed as it does had it not been for the soundcast. Much of it does directly because of the soundcast and because of other soundcasters sharing it with their listeners over the last significant portion of my life so far. So, I can only close by saying "Thank you" to all involved, and to remind you that next week there will be something else for you to listen to: Epi320. It will most likely be hosted by Marc Hershon and will feature his interview with Christine Blackburn, friend of Succotash and host of the longer-running-than-our-show, Story Worthy, as well as the Story Smash soundcast game show, AND the brand new soundcast My Life in Three Songs! So…if you enjoyed this, and somewhere out there in "The rest of YOUR life" - land someone should happen to ask you if you heard anything interesting or good lately, and we spring to mind…by all means tell them so. It's what we mean when we ask you to please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your host for this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, a soundcast that invented the word "soundcast" which is, sadly, still what most people refer to "podcasts" as…which is also what THIS is, as anybody who has listened to this program over its last 11 years already knows. Last week, in Epi316, show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon brought you an interview with Blaine Capatch who, in addition to being a standup comedian, is also a writer, a sketch performer, a husband, a father, a son, and a man who plays a druid character on the soundcast Nerd Poker, which has been featured on Succotash quite a few times over the years. It's a pretty fun episode and I recommend that you check it out at your earliest convenience. You can find that episode and every episode of Succotash in the show archives over at www.succotashshow.com This week, in an episode entitled, "Reach Out And Clip Someone", I've got three clips for you from the soundcasts known as The Greatest Song Ever Sung (Poorly), Mom Can't Cook! A DCOM Podcast, and The Co-Founder. This episode is brought to you by our 100% fake sponsor "Henderson's Pants" and their new Passive Aggressive Pants, for when you just can't take it any more…but don't want anyone to know for sure. CLIPS The Greatest Song Ever Sung (Poorly) From the show detail: "The podcast that takes karaoke exactly as seriously as it should be taken." Hosts Adam Wainwright and Ed Cunard discuss an aspect of karaoke or music, and play a short round of trivia on that topic, where one of them challenges the other with five questions related to the topic, along with an Impossible Bonus question. Then they're joined by someone with a connection to that topic—and feature that guest singing karaoke (when possible…) Our clip springs from a recent episode drop on July 27th, 2022: "Who Knows What Evil Lurks in the Heart of Karaoke Singers: The Villains of Karaoke with Tiana Hennings (of the Next Door Villain soundcast). She has her own karaoke villain up her sleeve, but also some great stories about singing karaoke in China while studying abroad, what karaoke is like for the more casual karaoke fan, and how it's a great way to get out into a new place you're living and meet people. Mom Can't Cook! (A DCOM Podcast) Join hosts Luke Westaway and Andy Farrant for their brand new podcast Mom Can't Cook! in which they attempt to salvage something, anything from the fact that they've watched every single Disney Channel Original Movie from the late 90s and early 2000s. The title of their show comes from the premise that the mom character in the film is usually unable to cook, and this is considered richly comic. Our featured clip comes from their recently released premier episode "Smart House", from July 18th of this year. (The plot of this epic tale is that a young boy wins an intelligent house of the future, which starts off by stealing some of his blood, and then things go downhill from there.) The clip takes from the hosts' discussion of the capabilities of the "Smart House". The Co-Founder Starring Sunita Mani and Alexandra Shipp, two young start-up founders, both women of color, are on the brink of losing their company; a fate they narrowly avoid thanks to a hairbrained scheme to have their neighborhood barista— a white dude, of course— pretend to be the third founder in order to raise money. But when the barista reveals he has a scheme of his own to keep the company in his clutches, hijinks and hilarity ensue. The Co-Founder is a Realm production, starring Sunita Mani and Alexandra Shipp, and written by Alexis Wilkinson, Alexa Wejko, and Mimi Mondal. Which brings us neatly to the end of the show that I put together for you, the listener. I do hope something in the program caught your attention and perhaps has carved out a niche in your time for another listen. I also hope you listen to us in the future should you continue to have niches in your schedule freely available to you that you would share with us. I spoke earlier in the program about spending a little more time with some people that life, in the fashion in which my particular existence seems to be unfolding, has separated me from, and they from me. It seems to be the way of things. I bring it up because this coming weekend which will be the 20th and 21st of August, 2022, my brother is getting married. It's a pretty amazing time all around this year. Weddings have always given me a boost of optimism and this one does especially because I am so close to the people in question. That's pretty much how it works…the life experiences that are subjective to one's own particular perspective. I don't know anything about you, but when you have hope, I am happy for you. It might seem hard to find hope, but it is there to be had if you are open to it. That all being said, I hope that you feel compelled to tell others of our existence. You'd be doing us a really big favor. It's what we are referring to when we ask you to "Please pass the Succotash." — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner welcoming you to Epi315 of Succotash, the soundcast that might just introduce you to your next favorite soundcast…as long as you understand that "soundcast" is what we here have been calling "podcasts" since waaaaay back in the day, shortly after Succotash launched some 11 years ago. There is also an excellent chance that we have already introduced you to your current favorite soundcast. Perhaps it was something that you heard in last week's Episode #314 in which I brought you clips from the soundcasts Black Aesthetic, Jeremiah Wonders, and Real Life Sci-Fi. Perhaps not, It's difficult to say. One thing that isn't difficult to say, by the way is thank you for listening which is essentially what I am doing right now in the guise of merely telling you about it.…or…is that the lazy explanation? I D K . This week, I've got another round of the "3-clip tango" for you in the form of content bites from the soundcasts known as The Winnebago Boys, Oxventure - A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast, and The Todd Glass Show. I've also got an ad from our longtime, 100% FAKE sponsor "Henderson's Pants" and their disturbingly anthropomorphic Pet Pants for you to enjoy as you indeed might…so look forward to that. Alright, I've got very little time to do this, so let's get to the clips… CLIPS The Winnebago Boys Evan Vest and Eian Webre are The Winnebago Boys and our snippet is from May of last year, an episode entitled "Many Gods". Evan apologizes - "We're back. My bad. Had a rough spell but we're back. Eian is now a permanent host." The clip itself features a very serious discussion of comedy and some of its' many aspects… Oxventure - A Dungeons & Dragons Podcast The Oxventurers Guild presents a DnD real play podcast! Join Johnny Chiodini, Jane Douglas, Andy Farrant, Mike Channell, Ellen Rose and Luke Westaway for chit-chat and chaotic good times. Our clip is from back around the corner - July 22, 2022 - in an episode called "Wedded Redemption Part 1" with special guest player Harry McEntire…and Happy Episode 100! This clip features part of the introductory portion of the campaign the group is about to embark upon. The Todd Glass Show Todd Glass has his very own show! He brings on his funny friends and they talk about whatever they want. And, of course, there are bits! Our clip hails from February 21, 2020, just between the COVID lockdown would sweep in a month later. Featuring guests Nick Swardson & Blake Wexler, although our clip only features Nick and Todd as Nick recalls doing live events with Adam Sandler and others…and an at-this-point-in-time very much living Norm Macdonald is fondly remembered. Hey, we all made it to the end together. That idea puts an image in my head of a group photo of a large number of people posing with a single trophy that they all must share.…(storybook voice) "and that was the last time that trophy was ever seen in one piece again…" Be sure to listen here, or wherever you listen, to Epi316 which will be hosted by show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon — who managed to secure an interview with Blaine Capatch of the world-famous soundcast Nerd Poker. I will be looking forward to it as much as you no doubt are at this very moment, assuming this is the first moment you have learned of this. If all goes well, I should be back with an episode for you a week after that featuring…I haven't the faintest clue yet as I am still writing this. Thank you for listening, Be Decent to Each Other, Avoid COVID-19 and DEFINITELY avoid spreading it to other people if you can at the very least manage that,…what you could spread, however, is this show by sharing your awareness of it with other people. It's what we mean when we drop to our knees with our hands clasped together and implore you to Please…Pass The Succotash! — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner! Welcome to this episode of Succotash that numbers 314! If you are new here, thank you so much for listening. If you listened to last week's episode #314 subtitled "Let's All Go to the Movies" you no doubt enjoyed the content featured within that episode which was hosted by Marc Hershon. Marc, this show's creator and original full-time host, originated this program to showcase the soundcasts of comedy folks and the like for over 11 years now, and for the last 2+ years, since shortly after the COVID-19 Lockdown of 2020, he and I have been alternating weekly hosting duties. So,…last week, Mr. Hershon brought you a quartet of clips from the movie-centric soundcasts known as But Is It Good, Forever Movie Boys, Rotten Tomatoes Is Wrong, and They're Just Movies. It was an entertaining episode that you can still find in our archive at www.succotashshow.com as well as pretty much most places you can find other soundcasts including, but not limited to, Apple or Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Soundcloud, YouTube, Amazon Music, Audible, Podchaser, and PodBay. This week's episode features clips from the soundcasts: Black Aesthetic, Jeremiah Wonders, and Real Life Sci-Fi. …and of course, we've got a classic advert from our longtime FAKE sponsor "Henderson's Pants" for you later in the program. I can't think of a good reason to delay the proceedings any any longer, so let's get to the clips while they are still warm! CLIPS Black Aesthetic The soundcast Black Aesthetic feature Black voices talking Black life, Black Arts and Black culture with Queen Dee, Dellar, Mona Loki and KM Ross. A production of Black Humboldt, a volunteer run organization working to create and sustain safe spaces and representation for Black & Brown community members in Humboldt County, CA. BH achieves this goal through hosting Exclusive events for Black and Brown identities. Our clip is from the episode that dropped on the 13th of October, 2020, entitled "Getting Mental" w/ comedian Joshua Barnes. "Barnes matches his anecdotal wisdom with an “everybody's favorite dad” charm. He'll have you rolling in your seats with stories and musings of everyday life. Barnes delivers a commanding performance whether he's recounting the times his son has shamed him or detailing his beliefs of life's purpose." Real Life Sci-FiFrom the show's description: "Real Life Sci-Fi is a comedy podcast. A late night bar conversation about conspiracies, creatures and all things paranormal. Should the world be categorized as fiction or non-fiction? 1 skeptic. 1 believer. 1 woman. 1 guest. I clipped this snippet (or is that snipped this clippet?) from their Epi357 which dropped on June 20th of this year, entitled "Crop Circles With Fred Stoller. (Fred was a guest on Succotash during our first year, way back on Episode 15!) The hosts — Wade Randolph, Willy Roberts, Erin Pearce — continue their conversation with Fred, off the topic of the rest of the show (crop circles - some crop circles are man made. Are all of them? There is some compelling information about some crop circles. Will they get to it?) Jeremiah wonders…is a weekly podcast where Jeremiah Watkins interviews guests with some of his favorite original characters and impressions. You never know who's going to call in! We clipped from back in May of this year (this year being 2022, if you happen to have been time traveling…), Episode 231 with guest Nigel Ng (AKA Uncle Roger) …and that pretty much brings us to the end of the episode for this week. I've only got my wrap-up left to do here which will include some light begging of you to rate and review us if you like what you heard. It really helps us out…helps "keep the lights on" so to speak. Sometimes it is difficult to believe that it has been 11 years since this show started, and within that time the format known as the "podcast" has experienced a huge surge in growth and…perhaps a stagnation, a decline, a resurgence…you know, I don't really know if the last bits of that are true. I just know that online, podcasts are ubiquitous…can't throw the proverbial digital stone without hitting one…and offline…It seems like they are still kind of lesser known than most other forms of media. Maybe that's not true and I need to talk to more people. At any rate, THIS podcast - or soundcast as this soundcast refers to podcasts as - has the role of introducing other soundcasts to people who are technically already somewhat aware of their existence…you know what? We've been over this. I hope something you heard in this program inspires you to listen more, or at the very least has been entertaining. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, tune in next week for Epi315 hosted by Marc Hershon, and, in the meantime, if someone asks you if you have heard anything interesting lately…or you'd like to proactively tell people about what you are listening to and it has been us…won't you please….pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, and I welcome you to Soundcast Land … which is where Succotash, the soundcast you are currently listening to, resides…as well as in the hearts of millions I am being told so, Holy Crap…thank you! It's a very special feeling that I will attempt to acknowledge on the regular by continuing to do more-or-less the same thing for as long as seems appropriate…whatever THAT means. Cheers to you! Last week, in Epi311 titled "Moving to the Sounds of Laughter", show creator, executive producer, my co-host and your more-or-less every-other-show-host Marc Hershon brought you a trio of soundcast clips from the soundcasts known as: 5-4, Crazy Town, Prop Culture, and Romance Road Test. Lots of entertainment to be had there, and you can find that show along with our 11 years deep archive of episodes over at www.succotashshow.com, or pretty much wherever else soundcasts can be found and listened to… including where you found this episode. Speaking of which: This is Episode 312, "Nothing In Common", and I've got clips for you from three soundcasts that have (seemingly) nothing in common): No Cover - Live from Savage Henry Comedy Club, Gag On This…Podcast, and In Bed with Nick and Megan. If you are new to our show, welcome! Thank you for listening. This episode is sponsored by the all-new Passive Aggressive Pants from Henderson's Pants, makers of coverage for everything you have down under since 1735. CLIPS No Cover - Live from Savage Henry Comedy Club At Savage Henry Comedy Club in Eureka, CA, comedians and luminaries join host Mark Sanders to unwind and laugh about the goings on in Humboldt Country and the world at large. I clip from the first episode from May 13th, 2022 - "Condors in the Air, Scooters on the Street, and a Couple of Kinds of Comics",, and feature the music and comedy stylings of inaugural guest Stephanie Knowles. Gag On This…PodcastBig Nick, Rob, Charron, and Daddy D get together each week to interview local comedians/comediennes about their life in comedy, their views of the local scene, and we have them enter the 'Comics Studio.' We also discuss random topics and crack jokes with our guests and sometimes ask the audience to join in on the fun!" Taken from their Epi181 the dropped May 9th of this year, called "Gutting the Sacred Sinkie", the gang is joined by comedian Kevin Gootee! In this clip, Kevin explains what "Comics Watching Comics" is and notes some of the influence it has had on new comedians. In Bed with Nick and Megan Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman have been a couple for 20 years - 138 years in Hollywood time - and in their podcast they take listeners directly into their bed… because that's where every episode is recorded - their bed. Cozying up with their famous friends, your favorite couple provide a funny, revealing, and very candid look into their relationship and life at large. In some episodes, they'll even kick the guest out of bed and get extra personal in what some have called the most searing and rawly sexual conversations ever to burn their way through a voice recorder. Oh, yes. It's that good. Join Megan and Nick for some serious pillow talk. This clip is from August 30th, 2020, an episode entitled "Checking In with Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest". There is a terrific story very early on about how Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest met. I did not clip that for this show. I chose instead to go with a clip of the group having a discussion that begins with sharing experiences in the theatre and the early days of cable T.V. programming. (Note: There has not been an episode of In Bed with Nick and Megan released since the "Season 1 Finale" dropped on September 13th, 2020.) When you get done listening to Episode 312, this is pretty much what I'll be saying: "Hey there… welcome to the end of the episode. I do hope you found some interest and/or entertainment in the roughly half-hour of your life that you spent listening to us. Maybe you will search out these shows to add to your "to-listen-to-queue" for further exploration? Maybe you've already heard one or more of the shows featured on this program and were curious to hear specifically what we chose to share with other people… maybe you would have chosen a different portion? Those are a great many "Maybe"s indeed, but they are only as good as their ability to signify that probabilities are being speculated upon…. At least, that's what it looks like from where I'm sitting. Another difficult thing is finding a graceful way to transition to a plug for my website over at www.tysonsaner.com where you will find links to all my other projects including other soundcasts, music, videogame gaming videos of various sorts on my YouTube channel, over a hundered now actually with a more-or-less steady release of content lately…and maybe a few surprises. Anyway, listen in right here next week for episode 313 brought to you by Marc Hershon and then, most likely, I will be back in 2 weeks with episode 314… so, until then, Be Decent to Each Other, and if someone should ask you if you've heard anything good or interesting lately, and we come to mind, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton! Estas mi Tyson Saner, and I welcome you to this episode of Succotash which happens to be #310. I will be your host this week. Last week, Executive Producer, Show Creator, my co-host, and your every-other-show-host Marc Hershon brought you a quartet of soundcast clips from the soundcasts known as Big Facts, No Cap, CoDependent, Penn's Sunday School, and Penny For Your Thoughts. It's a fun show and I urge you to check it out at your earliest convenience. As with all our shows, including this one — eventually —you can find them on pretty much every podcast platform. The most common examples include Apple & Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Audible.com, iHeart Radio, YouTube, Soundcloud, Podbay, and Podchaser. You can also find the episode by going to our homesite, which is SuccotashShow.com. But right now you are listening to THIS week's show which, as earlier stated is #310, and coming up for you within it are clips from the soundcasts What'd You Do This Weekend?, I Hear Voices, and Kill Me Now with Judy Gold. (Hence the show's title for this week: "Question, Listen, Kill"…) And, of course, we will have a classic advertisement from our longtime FAKE sponsor "Henderson's Pants" for their Flying Jodhpurs. I know you're anxious to hear what I have in store for you so here they are… CLIPS What'd You Do This Weekend? What'd You Do This Weekend? is a hilarious podcast with cartoonist Hilary Campbell and writer Derek Boeckelmann who are obviously best friends who are also very, very funny. Every week they'll answer that age-old question: "What did you do this weekend?" With tales of New York vs LA, delivery vs. pickup, boys vs. girls, each week Hilary and Derek invite guests to get into every aspect of what it means to be alive from Friday night to Monday morning. Our clip is from their June 6th, 2022, Episode 10: What'd You Do This Weekend? with Vivian Martinez and "Tiny Margaritaville!", featuring a section of their discussion of The Bratz Movie. I Hear Voices Animated characters have befriended our imaginations since childhood, but have you ever wondered, "Who is the person behind that VOICE?" I Hear Voices is a celebration of our favorite voices in animation, video games, anime, and more! Hosted by the dynamic Kim Possible duo, Christy Carlson Romano (Even Stevens, Big Hero 6) and Will Friedle (Boy Meets World, Batman Beyond), it's your weekly dose of hilarious conversation with a dash of nostalgia. Plus, each episode features a playful segment where Christy, Will, and their guests interact with the audience and create voices for original characters! I clip fromfrom their May 6th, 2022 epi entitled "The Voice of SAMURAI JACK was in Pulp Fiction!" with guest Phil Lamarr (Samurai Jack AKA Green Lantern AKA Static Shock AKA Hermes, to name a few…) He's an absolute legendary actor on camera and in voice-over. He credits his experience in improv prepared him for transitioning into voice-over. In this clip, host Will Friedle discusses feelings of inadequacy when comparing himself to other actors… Kill Me Now with Judy Gold A weekly podcast, Kill Me Now is hosted by award-winning comedian and writer, Judy Gold. Since Judy always seems to be pissed-off about something, she thought why not interview celebrities about what makes them angry - from the extraordinary to the mundane. The snippet I've clipped is from March 14th, 2022, Epi341, and features Malcolm Nance, who just may be the most interesting man in the world. And this epoisode is just Part 1 of his convo with Judy! And here we are again at the end of another episode. I do hope you find some enjoyment within somewhere. Something that you will remember after you have left this listening space. Perhaps something that will inspire you to check out the full versions of the soundcasts you heard in this episode. Perhaps other episodes from the soundcasts you heard with different guests… or perhaps other soundcasts featuring the guest you heard… it's difficult to say. I've already got ideas of what I will be bringing you in 2 weeks, but until then, consider subscribing to us wherever you can, tune in next week for Marc Hershon's episode 311, be decent to each other, go to www.tysonsaner.com for all the other stuff I am involved in if you are interested in that…and if someone asks you if you've heard anything memorable lately won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, and I am your every-other-weekly host for this particular week's episode of "Succotash" that happens to be #308… welcome to it! Last week in Epi307, my co-host and your every-other-show-host Marc Hershon, who is also the executive producer of Succotash these 11+ years, dipped into the archive to revisit, indeed re-broadcast, Episode 88 of Succotash when it was still called Succotash, The Comedy Podcast Podcast, and yours truly was still the associate producer sending in 3 or so clips an episode to help total an average of six. That was what it was like listening to Succotash in 2014 and you should know that the clips contained in that episode were from the soundcasts Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast, ( the premiere episode, I should add…), John Dredge's Nothing To Do With Anything Show, The Jockularity Show, Geeks with Wives & Capes, The Crunch Time Show, What a Pair of Trousers!, Old Enough To Know Better, Like I'm An Idiot, and Picnic Time Podcast. That makes NINE podcast clips…10 if you count the snippet of Chillpak Hollywood Hour… and why wouldn't you? That episode also had 2 full "Bursts O' Durst" from Raging Moderate Will Durst for good measure… oh, and also a Henderson's Pants ad … "Air-Cooled Culottes" I believe… You can find that episode in episode #307 as previously stated, or you can go to the show archive at www.succotashshow.com and find it in it's original form between episodes 87.5 and 89. This week, I've got a show of firsts for you. Three of them. Three clips, each from a debut episode of a soundcast. The clips are from the shows The Tumbler's Willy Podcast, No One Can Know About This: A Podcast Where We Play Every Final Fantasy, and Just Say Julie. I also have an ad from our longtime Fake Sponsor Henderson's Pants for their patented Sleepover Slax. All right, without further delay, let's get to the clips! CLIPS The Tumbler's Willy Podcast Tumbler's Willy is the longest-running TV drama in the world - so how come you've never heard of it until now? Maybe you're a cultural sloth, or perhaps you've just been busy chasing your dreams. Whatever, now's your chance to discover what you've been missing for the last 120 years. Join American sitcom writer Andy Bobrow and UK children's author Andy Stanton as they take a deep and incredibly dumb dive into this most British-est of shows. If you've got any sense at all, you won't believe your ears. My clip is from the first episode that dropped on March 15th of this year, entitled "Silence and Sound". No One Can Know About This: A Podcast Where We Play Every Final Fantasy A podcast where the hosts literally play every Final Fantasy, using recordings from actual play sessions mixed with commentary from their future selves. Hosted by Jeff Eckman and Ryan Kasmiskie. Our snippet hails from their debut installment, which posted back in December of 2017, and was called "An Unexamined Life." Just Say JulieMiss Julie Brown (MTV's Just Say Julie, Medusa, Attack of the 5'2 Women & more!) talks anything and everything with sidekick and producer Benny Laurence. Anything is possible on this podcast/webshow so stay tuned! It just got started this year, with the first episode bowing on February 9th of this year. In the first episode, Julie reads title suggestions from Twitter and talks Bachelor conspiracies with friend and producer, Benny. And in this clip, there a little about how Miss Brown and Ms. Laurence met… And just like that, another episode done and in the archives… also on Google and Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Audible, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Podchaser.com, Podbay, and on YouTube. That's right, you can listen on YouTube. If you are interested in Gaming videos, you can find many of various types and audience age range appropriateness… Currently, I've been doing "let's plays" of educational apps such as having to do with Peppa Pig, or the internet Edutainment sensation Blippi. I've also played "house flipper" but I have yet to edit that. At any rate, thank you for listening, tune in next week for episode 309 within which I imagine Marc Hershon will have cooked up something fantastic for you to sample and enjoy. Until then, be decent to each other, thank a hospital worker for their service if you should happen across one out in the world not within a hospital's boundaries, and… if someone asks you if you have heard anything good lately, or perhaps you are on Twitter and someone asks for podcast recommendations, and we come to mind, won't you please…pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, and I both happily and gratefully welcome you to this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, whose number is 306. Could I have picked a clunkier way to say that? … Perhaps so. It's hard to say. It is, however, VERY easy to say "thank you for listening" so I'll do that now. Thank you for listening, if you've made it this far into the intro I think we will get along just fine. I share hosting duties of this podcast roughly every other week with Marc Hershon who created this show 11 years ago to showcase other folks' podcasts in a "Whitman's Sampler"-style format, and last week in Epi305 Mr. Hershon did just that with an episode called "Clips on a Whim" that featured a quartet of clips from the soundcasts Entry Level, Last Things First, Parks and Recollection and Timesuck!. It's a fun episode and I encourage you to listen to it at your earliest convenience via services like Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Audible, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Podchaser.com, Podbay, YouTube, and on our own homesite, SuccotashShow.com This week I've got clips for you from the soundcasts The JV Club with Janet Varney, The Writers Panel and The Boogie Monster. I've also got an ad from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants and their Wake Island Abbreviated Trouser kicking around somewhere so that should round out the episode nicely. CLIPS The JV Club with Janet Varney From the show's official description: "Remember what it was like to be an awkward teenager? And remember how some things haven't really changed that much for you since then? Join proud dork Janet Varney as she explores the highs and lows of the bygone years with some of her favorite women as they talk their way through the terrible teens into adult-lescence." Although the episode I'm clipping dropped on May 28th, 2020 with guests Kaitlin Huwe & Stephanie Erb, I'd be remiss to mention this soundcast published what looks to be their 500th episode in late April…which is a pretty tremendous milestone, so I would like to extend a belated "Congratulations!" to them. Janet is an old friend of Succotash, with her show being first clipped way back in Episode 23, and then again in Episode 115. In addition, she chatted with my co-host Marc Hershon in between those appearances, in Epi97 during his visit to one of the Los Angeles Podcast Festivals. In this installment, Janet welcomes both Kaitlin and Stephanie (Therapy With Pami) for a chat about growing up in one place vs. moving all over, and all the things that come with both. Top hats! Frizzles! Bread, bread, bread! The Writers PanelThe definitive insider's guide to our current golden age of television, Ben Blacker's The Writers Panel is an ever expanding anthology of live convention panels and intimate in-studio interviews with the writers, producers, and show runners responsible for all the shows you can't stop watching. I clipped a sample from the October 6th, 2020 show, featuring a panel interview with Mary Laws (Monsterland), Brannon Braga (Books of Blood), & Matt Morgan (Helstrom), with Mr. Blacker serving as the host. (Ben was the co-creator of the long-running Thrilling Adventure Hour, and was a special guest back in the Dawn of Succotash for Episode 37.) The Boogie MonsterOur final clip of the episode is The Boogie Monster, hosted by comedians Kyle Kinane and Dave Stone, mainly talking about ghosts and barbecue and maybe interviewing people and maybe having had a few drinks before they started recording. (While these gents are not exactly old friends of the show, we have featured clips from The Boogie Monster twice previously, in Episodes 181 and 225.) This clip is from their May 10th, 2022 show, "Live from Humboldt County". Kyle and Dave are live from Savage Henry Comedy Club in beautiful Humboldt County, California. They get into some Squatch talk with local wizard, Dr. Foxmeat, and Robert Leiterman and Rowdy Kelly of The Bluff Creek Project. And that brings us neatly to the end portion of this program. I do hope you find something to enjoy while listening. Soundcasting has become such a huge part of the world of entertainment in the last 11 years since "Succotash" began… it's really fascinating to me, right now, in this moment. It's a legitimate cultural phenomenon that shows no signs of ceasing to be a thing…and why would it? I wonder what- if any - long-term societal effects of this format will be on the generations of listeners and content providers? Will the world survive long enough to look back on this period of time with any sort of nostalgic fondness? … Well, I suppose that remains to be seen. If you enjoyed this program, won't you take a moment to rate and/or review us wherever that applies? There's a whole archive of episodes going back to 2011 with some pretty quality content, much of which is, if nothing else, historical audio documents of the time in which they were made… more or less. Until next time, Thank you for listening, Be Decent to Each Other, go to www.tysonsaner.com to find other stuff I've been working on over the years including gaming videos, music and a whole other soundcast called Anti Social Show that I co-host with Hunter Block, and if you happen to be asked if you have heard anything interesting lately, and we come to mind, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner and I will be your host for this episode of Succotash that numbers 304. Last week in Epi303, my co-host and your more-or-less every-other-show host Marc Hershon brought you a "Chats" episode that featured a conversation with Pat Hazell, who — as described by Mr. Hershon in last week's episode description — "is a multi-hyphenate threat as they used to say: comedian-writer-director-producer, and (as of the pandemic)host of a soundcast called Creativity in Captivity. It's a terrific episode with some fascinating conversation and I encourage you to listen to it when you get the chance, assuming you have not already done so. Succotash also has a format that we refer to as "Clips" episodes and this one that you are listening to right now is one of those. This week I went out and clipped a trio of other people's soundcasts for you. I've got clips from the shows Hello Wonderful, Prolly Shoulda Known Better, and That Happens. I've also got a classic commercial from our longtime FAKE sponsor Henderson's Pants'; Republfit Pants for you, just in time for the midterm primaries! CLIPS Hello Wonderful Dr. Terry Dornak, PsyD (a member of the Queer Community herself) chats with a different guest from the queer community each week as they tell a story from their life. She's looking to fight and break stigma and stereotypes about the Queer/LGBTQ+ community with the stories revealed on the show. "It is time we take back the power that has been taken from the Queer community," writes Dr. Dornak in the show's description. The clip is from the episode that dropped back on April 23rd, 2022, entitled "Hmm, Would I Rather Get Lost in the Amazon or Deal with Florida Politics?" The guest is Jayme Bean: an author, parent, traveler, zookeeper, and reluctant fireworks watcher. Her book, Untouched, is a queer adventure novel that tell the thrilling journey of 2 graduate students who are lost in the Amazon. Beware of curses, animals, bugs, and Bi-sex oh my! Prolly Shoulda Known BetterAs the show description says, this soundcast is celebrating comedy that has aged very poorly. Hosted by Nadia Vazquez and Tony Ginocchio. Our clip is from the show from December 22, 2021 when Tony and Nadia closed out the Disney season with a Christmas selection from the Disney+ era, and a prime example of current-world Disney cranking out worthless chum for their endless content scroll, starring a “worthless chum” in the form of a British child actor with negative charisma, surrounded by talented comedians who try so hard to save this movie and fail miserably. That Happens The show's description says it all, mostly: "Rising from the ashes like some sort of podcasting phoenix, hosts Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway?) and Spencer Crittenden (Harmontown) embark on the most courageous and groundbreaking mission ever conceived: Talking into microphones. Join our heroes as they fearlessly wade into a myriad of topics and takes as they crack wise and make merry, with and without special guests. Oh, also they play dungeons and dragons sometimes. That happens! A podcast!" We clip a chunk from the June 10th, 2021, episode "Side Character Eyes". By the time you reach the end of the show, I do hope you find something to enjoy in all of this. Maybe you will be inspired to seek out more content from the soundcasts featured in this program, maybe you will be inspired to start your own soundcast…and if you do, and I happen to hear it…I just might clip it for a future episode of Succotash. It's hard to say… BTW, I have a newer soundcast that I've been trying to put together for a couple years now. It is more-or-less geared toward mental health and wellness and It's called Happiness or Something Like It. It actually debuted as a ".5" episode of another soundcast I host with a friend of mind called Hunter Block. At any rate, you can find the YouTube version of it posted here. In the meantime, thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and if someone happens to ask if you'd heard anything interesting lately and we spring to mind won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner and I will be you host for this, I don't know that there is a better way to put this, "Very Special Episode" of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast that numbers #302. Before I get into what I mean I'd like to take a moment to remind you that Succotash celebrated 11 years of showcasing other soundcasters via clips of their efforts. That coincided with our 300th episode, which executive producer and show creator Marc Hershon and I co-hosted simultaneously - which might sound like an odd way to put it, but it shouldn't be odd to regular listeners who know that Mr. Hershon and I have been hosting weekly episodes more-or-less every-other-episode for the last 2 years, and it is really only on special occasions that we might both be bringing you the same episode, at the same time. There's a great recap of Epi300 IN Epi301 in which Marc brought you a quartet of clips from the soundcasts Aristotle Full Throttle, Brilliant Observations, The Jann Arden Podcast, and TheKnuckleheadsPodcast. That episode can still be found over at SuccotashShow.com and wherever soundcasts can be streamed and/or downloaded…except Spotify for the time being and the foreseeable future. Now, if you wouldn't mind my attempting to explain what I mean by this being a "Very Special Episode" I will begin that now. This is a memorial episode. We have lost a great many comedians in the last year or so. I have chosen to feature three of the recently departed, and I based my selection process on my personal preference for starters, but mostly on the fact that there's a pretty remarkable photograph that Gilbert Gottfried, who passed away after "a long illness" on April 12, 2022, posted to his Twitter account. It was of him, Louie Anderson, who succumbed to cancer on January 21st of 2022, and Bob Saget, who died due to head trauma earlier that same January on the 9th.There's an article on the Huffington Post about the photo that you can find here. I was, as many people were, shocked and saddened by the passings of Mr. Anderson and Mr. Saget, but Mr. Gottfried's passing really bummed me the fuck out, and it is still pretty fresh as I write this on the 23rd of April, less than 2 weeks later. When I saw this photograph, along with how understandably eerie it seemed, it inspired me to revisit Mr. Gottfried's podcast which, in turn, inspired me to create this episode that attempts to both celebrate the humor and humanity of these folks, and memorialize them in some fashion. So, in this episode, I've got clips from The Louie Anderson Podcast, Bob Saget's Here For You, and Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast. I will be including a classic "Henderson's Pants" spot about something called PC Jeans because it seems like it could the most appropriate choice of the fake ads for our fake sponsor that I have available to me. I need to point out that I will still be including social media account information after each clip. (Quite a few folks have died with Twitter accounts, many of whom I still follow, and the accounts are usually maintained by people who keep the legacy alive with information about events such as additional materials like unpublished memoirs, final stand-up specials, charities supported, etc.) I will also be providing info to the various charities as I find them. If you know of any additional charities supported by the comedians featured in this episode, feel free to contact the show via the emails which will be mentioned at the end of the program. Ok, let's get to it and cope with our grief together… CLIPS The Louie Anderson Podcast The Louie Anderson Podcast is a conversation with comedians, entertainers and others about their journey. My featured clips comes from the February 13th, 2015 episode in which The Amazing Johnathan talks magic, Letterman, drugs and his current health situation. (If you'd care to, you can go back into the archives of Succotash to find Episode 95, called "Interfacin' with The Amazing Johnathan" from 2014. Johnathan Szeles and Mr. Hershon had worked on a Merv Griffin game show project in the past called Ruckus which you can definitely find clips of on YouTube. One charity I found that was supported by Louie with a search on Look To The Stars was Comic Relief, which you can learn more about by visiting https://www.comicrelief.com/ Bob Saget's Here For You Bob Saget's Here For You is a podcast that is like no other— For one, this podcast has guests who are friends of Bob's, or just really interesting people who many of you know and love. Secondly, this podcast is unique because it goes inside Bob Saget's mind, and then quickly filters out through his mouth. Bob has a way of calming people he has conversations with as well as being entertaining and often informative. Bob talks with his guests with genuine empathy and humor, while reaching his unusually diverse audience that he talks to as a friend, Bob is the dad with great advice, the irreverent funny guy who's always there when you need a laugh, and the free-associative Bob who goes off on crazy tangents then returns to the subject at hand, as serious or as comedic as it may be, to wrap up each episode in a way only Bob can do. Because he really does believe, “He's here for you." Our clip is from the last episode to post, on Jan 31, 2022, appropriately titled "Final Episode: Dane Cook" Comedian, actor, and long-time friend Dane Cook joins the podcast for its final episode. Dane shares his journey to the stage, opening up about his battle with social anxiety as a child and how his parents' personalities influenced his acts. Bob and Dane tackle a share of serious subjects, including their memories of the late Robin Williams and Louis Anderson, how pain can develop into great comedy, and Dane's experience having to put his older half-brother in jail. (With a foreword from Bill Burr that was included in the episode posted previous to this with Margaret Cho). Bob Saget had also been a Board Member of the Sceleroderma Research Foundation since 2003.You can find more information about it at www.srfcure.org Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast Comedian and actor Gilbert Gottfried, a man Stephen King once called “a national treasure,” talks with the show business legends, icons and behind-the-scenes talents who shaped his childhood and influenced his comedy. Along with co-host and fellow pop culture fanatic Frank Santopadre, Gilbert is joined by comics, actors, musicians, talk show hosts, writers and other eyewitnesses to Hollywood history, including Bruce Dern, Chevy Chase, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Adam West, Steve Buscemi, Micky Dolenz, Jim Gaffigan, Judd Apatow and DOZENS more, for a funny, frenetic, fly-on-the-wall look at showbiz then and now (but mostly then.) I snipped this clip from the show that posted April 11th, 2022 - Bob Costas Encore. The GGACP ushers in the start of the 2022 baseball season with this encore of a 2015 interview with Emmy-winning sportscaster, journalist and Baseball Hall of Famer Bob Costas, recorded at the New York Friars Club. Also in this episode: Bob analyzes “Top Cat," imitates Howard Cosell, “interviews” Jack Palance and recites Babe Ruth's farewell speech. PLUS: "The Million Dollar Movie"! Crazy Guggenheim returns! Rod Steiger emotes! Shirley MacLaine clams up! Gilbert sings the theme from “Underdog”! And the boys praise the under-appreciated genius of Bud Abbott! In Honor/Memory of Gilbert Gottfried who passed "Too Soon" of Myotonic Dystrophy Type Two: Please consider a donation to the research of this debilitating disease. Donate here: http://giveto.urmc.edu/DM2Research By show's end I do hope that you find something to enjoy. There are so many soundcasts out there, and none of us could possibly listen to them all. I wonder what the percentage is of comedians that have podcasts? I imagine it is a large percentage. Personally, comedians and musicians are among my favorite classes of people. Aside from loved ones or people that I know well in my actual life, comedians and musicians seem to leave the biggest gaps in the world when they leave us behind. Thankfully, they have a body of work that we can revisit if we were to desire to do so. We can laugh and sing with them until we literally cannot laugh and/or sing anymore for one reason or another, including our own deaths. Most importantly, if you love people or otherwise hold them in high regard, don't miss an opportunity to express the way you feel about them to them. You never know when it will be too late. I don't really have anything new to add as far as those sorts of sentiments go. I just keep on keepin' on because that's what we do. We carry on because we must. So, tune in next week for Marc Hershon's episode 303 and I will hopefully talk at you in two weeks for Epi304. Until then, be decent to each other, try to stay safe, and if someone asks you if you have heard anything worth listening to lately and we come to mind, don't forget to pass the Succotash… — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, and welcome to Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, Epi298. Now, this is the part of the episode where I usually mention what happened "last week" on Succotash…and I use quotations because usually I have heard the episode for the previous week that is hosted by show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon before I start putting together a show…In this case, I began work on this episode before Epi296 released so, unfortunately, I have no idea what happened in Epi297. (I mean, by the time you listen to this I certainly will have listened to Epi297 and, hopefully, so will have you.) Due to circumstances well beyond my control it's just impossible for me to do that AND put together a show in the week leading up to the release of the 298th episode so that puts me in a bit of a weird headspace but I will shake it off and sally forth and all that sort of thing. This is a Clips episode, meaning I've got clips from soundcasts The Friendship Onion, The Deep Dive with Jessica St. Clair and June Diane Raphael, and Full Release with Samantha Bee. I've also got a classic, time-of-the-year-appropriate Henderson's Pants advert for their Bloomin Bloomers! CLIPS The Friendship OnionJoin your favorite hobbits, friends and co-stars, Billy Boyd and Dom Monaghan as they take a look back at their time on The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. Featuring interviews with cast and crew, diving deep into life behind the scenes, and answering the many fan questions, The Friendship Onion peels back the layers of their friendship, both on screen and off. Our clip hails from the beginning of March of this year and features the hosts chatting up Professor Corey Olsen, president and founder of Signum University, an innovative online university that enables students to pursue their passions without going broke - and he's a Tolkien expert! The Deep Dive with Jessica St. Clair & June Diane RaphaelThe Deep Dive, hosted by actress, writer, and activist, June Diane Raphael and actress, writer, comedian, Jessica St. Clair, takes a "deep dive" into a wide range of topics such as motherhood and family, feminism, Meghan Markle, shit they put on their faces, and whether or not to buy a crystal because it's on sale. In short it's about two friends trying to survive adult womanhood. We snipped a sample from their "Must Love Dogs" episode from this month (or March 2022, if you're listening at any point past then...) Full Release with Samantha BeeTV's Full Frontal host Samantha Bee sits down for weekly unscripted, in-depth conversations with the best and rightest people about how to navigate the ever-changing world and what to laugh about along the way. Our selected clip dates from last June and features guest Rob Reiner, who dropped by then to talk about a variety of topics, including when the host watched this Is Spinal Tap with her grandmother, why Ted Cruz loves the Princess Bride, and joining Twitter just to take on Donald Trump. Episode #298 is packed with soundcast goodness and suitable for archiving. There's a great deal of entertainment to be had over at our homesite, www.succotashshow.com - 11 years worth, in fact, come April of this year. The show has been evolving like a Pokemon in that you can look at the stage it is in now, and look back on the past iterations, and - I believe - that one would not be asking themselves something like "How did THAT turn into THAT?!"…There's a familiarity and yet it is a somewhat different beast, or pocket monster, than it was when it was new and still figuring out it's powers.…at some point the metaphor falls apart but, I'm not sure that it has yet so I'll leave it there. Thank you for listening, Be Decent To Each Other, and if someone asks you if you've heard something good or interesting lately and you are fairly confident that we fit into one, both, or more of those catagories won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, Episode 296! I am your host this week for a more-or-less typical "Clips" episode of Succotash. Last week in Epi295, my co-host and your every-other-show-host, Marc Hershon, brought a bouquet of clips from the soundcasts known as Comedy Gold Minds with Kevin Hart, Hypochondriactor, The Extramundane with Max West, and Let's Make A Sci-Fi. Epi295 also has the distinction of being the episode of Succotash that featured the debut of a new "thing" for the show. That particular thing being an audio presentation of a humorous essay that was adapted by Marc Hershon and comedian Dan St. Paul from his blog "Slices". It was called "The No Tube Alternative" and you can also read that one, and over three dozen more at https://danstpaul.substack.com/. (You can listen to the episode in its entirety at www.succotashshow.com in our show archive, and I encourage you to do so at your earliest convenience should that sort of thing be of interest to you. In this week's episode, I've got clips from three soundcasts for you. They are called JudyCast with Frances Gumm, The Ramble, and Lightning Bugs: Conversations with Ben Folds. There's also a classic spot from our ubiquitous fake sponsor "Henderson's Pants" for their exciting "Hooray for Hollywood" pants, delivered with abject professionalism by our esteemed announcer Bill Heywatt. CLIPS JudyCast with Frances Gumm JudyCast is a surreal talk/variety show hosted by Judy Garland and her band of Hollywood and Broadway legends. Solely voiced and produced by Bill Phair, there's really no other podcast like it! As of December of 2021 there are 25 episodes to be listened to…and even though this clip is from the episode that posted on March 5th, 2006 - AND is the oldest episode available on iTunes - it references itself in the episode as "The 11th episode". Also, this show pre-dates Succotash by around 5 years. It is called "A Tetris Valentine" in which "Judy discusses the love of her life and plays Tetris". The Ramble Comedian Jerry Rocha talks about whatever is on his mind at the time. Our clip is from Episode 296 - posted on November 10th, 2021 - from a show in which Jerry and Eddie Pence (third chum Cody Villafana somehow found a daytime baseball game to go to) talk James Bond, haunted houses, video games and so much more. Lightning Bugs: Conversations with Ben Folds Join host Ben Folds, NYTimes best-selling author and musician, in celebrating and commiserating with some of the world's foremost creatives about their endlessly various artistic processes. We clip the show's debut episode from almost a year ago, April 8th, 2021, when Ben talked with anthropologist Agustín Fuentes about the role of creativity in our evolution and survival, how society causes writer's block, and the time a macaque monkey stole Ben's glasses. Well, there you have it. There's another episode of Succotash for the archives. It's almost 11 years deep in that thing. If you didn't already know that, you do now. I do hope you found something interesting in this week's offerings. If you didn't, then there is a very good chance that you will find something of interest in another episode. There is simply too wide an array of talent and personalities that have been sampled for you over the years that if absolutely nothing interest you in any single existing episode…then all I have to say to you is…. don't give up trying. New episodes come out every week, I'm sure we will catch your interest at some point. Anyway, thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and if you'd like to get a second opinion on what you just heard, or you would just like to share us with others then, by all means, pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, and I will be your host for the duration of this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast that numbers 294. How are y'all doing? I don't usually get political on this show or on my other soundcast Anti Social Show that I co-host with Hunter Block...and I am not about to now. I'll save that for about 25% of my Twitter feed. If you are tuning into this show then that means you are either here by accident, or you know that this show features interviews with people in comedy, podcasting, and "other show biz folk" as is mentioned by our announcer Bill Heywatt. For example, last week in show 293 hosted by executive producer and show-creator Marc Hershon, a chat with Tim Bedore was the feature. You can listen to that episode pretty much anywhere you can find soundcasts including the show's homesite at www.succotashshow.com. The show does feature interviews fairly regularly, but in most episodes we feature clips of other people's soundcasts so that, if you are looking for other things to listen to but aren't sure where to start, then perhaps one of the shows that we offer to you in a Whitman-sampler fashion will be the next thing you seek out to hear. That's the theory, anyway. I've got three clips for you in this episode from the soundcasts Wheel of Randy - A Randy Newman podcast, Podcast Killed the Video Star, and The Hollywood Experience. Also, my birthday is coming up for me, but will have already passed by the time you hear this...providing that a certain Russian leader doesn't nuke us between now and then. I told you, I don't usually get political. It's the existential crisis that sometimes bring stuff bubbling to the surface of ...uh... me. OH, and there is a advert for Henderson's Pants Bicentennial Pants coming later in the episode that I usually play around this time of year because it was created around this time back in 2020. CLIPS Podcast Killed The Video Star What in the TR-Hell is going on here!? Listen to a pair of Qweirdos (Oscar Montoya & Mano Agapion) on a quest to find the 100 best music videos ever made! AND YOU'RE GONNA HELP! Every week they watch, discuss, and tear apart three music videos. Then the listeners/watchers will decide which one of those three videos will progress to next round by voting on their Instagram account! The clip I've selected comes from this past November 20th, 2020 - Episode 1, entitled "She Done Already Done HEARD Herses". The Hollywood Experience Actor, producer, and director Adrian Paul, who has over 200 hours of television and more than 35 film credits to his name, talks with actors, comic book creators, martial arts masters, showrunners, stunt professionals, and many others who have helped shape some of the most famous action films and TV shows in pop culture history. Our clip is from just over a year ago, January of 2021, and features writer/martial artist/and creator of Combat Radio(as well as friend of Succotash) Ethan Dettenmaier! WHEEL OF RANDY - A Randy Newman Podcast A Randy Newman discussion podcast. Every episode, host Dan Wade and a guest discuss two Randy Newman songs - one chosen by the guest, one chosen at random. Spin the WHEEL OF RANDY! This clips hails from March of last year, entitled "The Missing Third Rock Episode --- Simon Smith and the Amazing Dancing Bear with Lucas Ross". Lucas Ross (KFOR, KAUT, American Banjo Museum) joins Dan to talk about the latest in banjo news, the perils of being THAT GUY ON TEEVEE, and Muppets Muppets Muppets! And, hey! ... There's another episode done and dusted. I do hope you found something enjoyable or, at the very least, interesting along the way. If you did, and you are now inspired to go in search of other soundcasts, then we have served our main purpose. How would you feel about giving us some sort of rating or review? We'd feel great about it! We'd also feel great if, when you do go on to listen to something that you heard first here, you might let us know about it within those reviews or perhaps thru social media or something of that nature. We're pretty interactive. We have been for nearly 11 years now. So, if you do have a mind to share us with others, we can only appreciate it. That very act is exactly the sort of thing we mean when we ask you to please pass the Succotash! — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner and I will be your host for the duration of this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, that numbers 292. Last week in Epi291, my co-host and your every-other-show host Marc Hershon served up two generous chunks of chat featuring Matt Knudsen & J. Keith Van Stratten in each their separate segments. It's a great episode that you can still listen to on Stitcher, Apple and Google podcasts, iHeart Radio, Podbay, Soundcloud and many places (other than Spotify…) And, of course you can always find us and our show archive over at SuccotashShow.com where this episode that you are listening to right now absolutely resides if you are, in fact, listening to it. And if you ARE listening to this, then you will no doubt be delighted with what I've got in store for you. I managed to convince J. Elvis Weinstein to have a chat with me very recently. I was thrilled to be able to do so…and I'm still smiling about it. Co-host of soundcasting's Thought Spiral with past Succotash guest Andy Kindler, Mr. Weinstein is also a stand-up comedian, actor, filmmaker, musician and writer for television who has been in the business more-or-less since shortly after he began performing stand-up comedy at the age of 15. I don't want to talk too much at the head of the program and I already run the risk of doing so. Our chat is only briefly interrupted by a word form our mythological sponsor, Henderson's Pants, and I must warn you: The sound is a bit rough at times, which is 100% on me. My audio actually dropped out a few times and I will be making no attempt to hide that as you may or may not notice. I really did have a great time chatting with Mr. Weinstein. And I absolutely forgot a few things that I was going to ask about or mention but, for the most part, I satisfied my curiosity as a fanboy. I'm going to thank Mr. Weinstein again here for his willingness to sit and chat with me, and the patience he exhibited. (BTW, I just found out that The Fiddling Horse, which he mentions during our chat, is available to watch for free on Tubi. So, I have that in my near future to look forward to.) I also look forward to the next episode #293 that will be hosted by Marc Hershon…and who knows what wonders he has in store for you?…It's a rhetorical question. At any rate, thank you for listening, be decent to each other, be cautious when it comes to the health of others if not your own, and if someone asks you if you have heard anything good or interesting lately and you think of us, we'd really appreciate you if you'd please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner and I will be your host for this episode of Succotash, THE Comedy Soundcast Soundcast that is number 290. Last week in Epi289, Marc Hershon – with whom I share hosting duties in an "every-other-weekly" fashion – brought you a show that was a "Chats" episode with returning guest Dana Carvey to talk about what he has been up to podcasting-wise and it turns out he has several projects ongoing that you can hear more about by listening to that episode at your earliest convenience by finding it on Stitcher, Tune In Radio, Apple and Google podcasts, Deezer, and several other listening platforms…but no longer available via Spotify (More on that in upcoming Episode 290!) You can, of course, also find the show and the entire 10+ years of episodes archived over at our homesite, www.succotashshow.com This week on Succotash I've got a trio of clips for you from the soundcasts Almost Viral with Simon the Magpie, Brian & Roger, and The Problem with Jon Stewart. And, perfect for those chilly days about now, this episode is brought to you by Turtleneck Slacks from Henderson's Pants! On a personal note I'd like to mention that this is the first episode of Succotash that I have produced since my son turned 3 years old. Wow…I remember when he was -7…tempis fugit and all that, eh? CLIPS Almost Viral with Simon The Magpie This show features Simon The Magpie in conversation with fellow content creators about the lifestyle of online creativity. I clipped from the very first drop of the show about a month ago, January 4th, 2022, entitled "The Pilot Episode With Analog Weapon", wherein Simon and his co-host Analog Weapon dive into the starting of this very soundcast. Brian & Roger Brian and Roger met at a support meeting for divorced men. Both are starting again. Both are finding it hard. One of them is nice. This is a scripted sitcom soundcast from Harry Peacock and Dan Skinner, produced by Joel Morris. The clip is from their "Xmas Special 2021: Some Avatar At Christmas", which dropped on December 24th of last year, in which Roger helps Brian with the arrangements for Auntie Leslie's Christmas celebrations. The Problem with Jon Stewart The issues tackle don The Problem With Jon Stewart are Too Big for TV™—so they spill over into the brilliantly titled The Problem With Jon Stewart soundcast. Jon Stewart is joined by the staff and expert guests for nuanced discussions, updates on action items, and airing of grievances from writers over jokes that didn't make the show. Our clip is from less than a month ago - January 13, 2022 - the episode entitled "Jon Talks to Mark Cuban: Billionaires, Basketball, and Bitcoin". So give a listen - I'm hopeful you find something entertaining contained within the audio you're about to experience. Maybe you will seek out more episodes from the creators we sample for you. Maybe you will be inspired to start your own soundcast…Maybe you will never listen to another soundcast after this one…who knows? I certainly don't, nor would I pretend to. I feel that would be unethical somehow. At any rate, I appreciate your spending time with us here at Succotash and before I say goodbye for this episode I'd like to remind you to consider rating and reviewing us if your listening platform gives you those options. You might also consider going to www.tysonsaner.com to have a look at my other content including music, gaming videos, and an entirely other soundcast called Anti Social Show that is in it's 5th year currently and has a few video versions of the program on YouTube. I'd really appreciate it if you did. I'd really appreciate any real sponsor that might be interested in doing a little business with us. I'd really appreciate it if the pandemic was over. As long as I'm saying what I'd appreciate I'd like to throw in telling people about us. It's what we mean when we ask you to please pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your every-other-weekly host for this first episode of Succotash produced in this still fairly new year of 2022. It's Episode 288 and, in case you missed last week's Epi287 hosted by show creator Marc Hershon, you might be interested to know that it featured clips from the soundcasts Legal Geeks, Wiz World Live, Muriel's Murders, and Dear Earth, I'm Really Sorry. If you were interested and, in fact, still are interested in that episode you can find it at all of soundcasting's major distribution points: Spotify, Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Audible, YouTube and, of course, on our very own homesite SuccotashShow.com But this is a different installment, and I've got different content for you. I've got a trio of clips from the soundcasts Resting Bitch with Ali Macofsky, Hollywood Handbook, and Dead Eyes. I'll be including an advertisement from our fictional - but extremely well-represented throughout what will be 11 years this April - sponsor, Henderson's Pants and their new Pedestrian Pants. Real potential sponsors, please take note: We are still on the lookout for an actual paying sponsor who likes what we do here at Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundscast, enough to invest in us… Anyway, Happy 2022 to you…let's get to the clips. CLIPS Resting Bitch with Ali Macofsky This soundcast from comedian Ali Macofsky, Resting Bitch, is a weekly diary with Ali catching you up on what happened during the preceding week. The featured clip is from the episode "Cursed Christmas", which dropped on December 29th of this past year, and is from very early in the show where Ali gives us updates about how her life has been going to help set the mood for the episode. Hollywood Handbook Hollywood Handbook is an insider's guide to achieving your showbiz dreams from two A-List it-boys who are living theirs - namely, Sean Clements & Hayes Davenport - who provide an exclusive VIP backstage pass into Tinseltown politics, answer questions from unsuccessful listeners, and bring in famous guests to discuss their craft and how they became what they are: famous. This clip from a couple weeks back, January 4th, 2022, entitled "Get Played, Our Video Game Friends", the boys welcoming back Nick Wiger, Heather Anne Campbell, and Matt Apodaca from the soundcast Get Played (formerly known as "How Did This Get Played" re-branded for the forseeable future) to make a new video game. This clip is from the beginning of the introduction of the three guests…to set the mood for the episode… Dead Eyes Actor/comedian Connor Ratliff (The Chris Gethard Show, UCB, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) embarks upon a quest to solve a very stupid mystery that has haunted him for two decades: Why Tom Hanks fired him from a small role in the 2001 HBO mini-series, Band Of Brothers. I've clipped a chunk from the January 6th, 2022 episode, entitled "Band of Others", where Connor talks with Zach Braff, Adam Scott, and David Krumholtz, about how they all auditioned for Band of Brothers and were not cast. The clip features part of the interview with Adam Scott, which comes quite late in the soundcast, but I've chosen to drop us in right at the beginning of the segment because…I felt like it. And that's my first show of 2022. I should have another one for you in a couple of weeks. Next week, Marc Hershon will be your host for Epi289 and he might have clips for you, he might have a chat episode for you…or he might bring you something entirely new…I cannot predict beyond that. I do hope that you found something enjoyable amongst the audible offerings I included with this episode. Listening to as many soundcasts as I do and (whew) have throughout the years has led to having quite a few interesting aural experiences. Maybe you had one or two of those during this show…perhaps you will find some in the archive…there's plenty to be had. I even already know one I am including in a future episode AND I know one that I will definitely be listening to in search of a second clip. It's still a fluid situation though, so who knows what will happen the next time I bring you a show? Nobody,…not even me really. So, until then, be decent to each other, go to www.tysonsaner.com to find additional content I have created for theoretical public consumption, tune in next week, and if you'd like to share us with others we'd really appreciate it. It's what we mean when we ask you to please pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
Saluton, kaj Feliĉan Novjaron, estas mi Tyson Saner, and I will be your guide for this first episode of Succotash for the year 2022. It's episode 286 which means that in roughly 14 more weeks from…NOW…this show will be in its 11th year with 300 episodes under its collective belt. (Full disclosure, I wrote this before December 31st. I had the mad idea to write the outro of the show on January 1st of 2022 for the sheer hell of it but I'm not sure I will be doing that.…I'll probably get back to you on that one… TS) Did you hear last week's show, Epi285, hosted by executive producer Marc Hershon? His episode featured a quartet of clips from the soundcasts Film Threat, Hysteria, Majoring in Everything, and You're Wrong About. That show, along with every episode of Succotash in existence can be found at www.succotashshow.com as well as Apple & Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, the Audible app, YouTube, and more. For this lead-in episode for 2022, I'll be clipping samples from The Dave Hill Goodtime Hour, Depresh Mode, and Multiverse of Badness. And still with us for all these years - we can't seem to shake them - is longtime, free-loading sponsor Henderson's Pants featuring their new Chillin' Churidars. (Additional full disclosure…I have resumed writing this on December 31st of 2021 and likely will be recording my host audio that you will be hearing, are listening to while you read this, or will be listening to in the future…and that will absolutely NOT be in 2021. Too much behind-the-scenes? I can't hear you… TS) CLIPS The Dave Hill Goodtime Hour Formerly known as both Dave Hill's Podcasting Incident and The Goddamn Dave Hill Show on WFMU), Maximum Fun's The Dave Hill Goodtime Hour features comedian/musician/writer/ actor/artist/man-about-town/thinking man Dave Hill and sidekicks Dez and Chris Gersbeck sitting down to have a delightful conversation with various notable people, including but not limited to fellow comedians, musicians, actors, authors, supermodels, convicts and whoever else he can talk into it. Our clip hails from this past November and feature Dave's guest, Canadian comedian Nick Flanagan. Depresh Mode with John Moe Join host John Moe (The Hilarious World of Depression) for honest, relatable, and, yes, sometimes funny conversations about mental health. Hear from comedians, musicians, authors, actors, and other top names in entertainment and the arts about living with depression, anxiety, and many other common disorders. Another offering from the Maximum Fun network, Depresh Mode also features useful insights on mental health issues with experts in the field. It's honest talk from people who have been there and know their stuff. No shame, no stigma, and more laughs than you might expect. We clipped from the episode that dropped on December 6th of 2021, "Aimee Mann Couldn't Hear Very Well or Write Songs. That's Inconvenient Because She's Aimee Mann", in which Aimee discusses adapting the book "Girl, Interrupted" into a musical project. Multiverse of BadnessEach week, Zach and Mike review comics across the from the multiverse of Marvel and DC, finding the worst characters and storylines in the history of comic books so you don't have to! The featured clip is from their Issue #2 that dropped on December 6th of last year (2021), where they focus on the origin of the X-Men character Dazzler and her first appearance in a "punk disco". Hello, welcome to the beginning of 2022. I will be honest…I am not filled with optimism about this new year being a better year than the previous one. I still have optimism, but significantly less than before. If life were a video game I would be googling cheat codes right about now to fill up my optimism stat…but instead I think I will just go have dinner with my vaccinated family and wish you and everybody here at Succotash the happiest of New Years that one can possibly muster given the current circumstances of the world as we know it. (I'd really liked to take the time to wait until I was in a better headspace to write this outro, but I didn't really have the time.) Time is a luxury, so thank YOU for spending some of yours with us. I will be doing my damndest to look for more comedy in the upcoming year to share with you, and I appreciate all of you for listening to whatever amount of us that you have, even, and especially, if this is your first episode of our show. So, on behalf of Succotash, I'd like to thank you for listening, encourage you to be decent to each other, rate and review us if you have the time and the inclination, and if anyone asks if you have heard anything interesting or generally worthwhile lately, and we come to mind, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi, Tyson Saner. I am your host for the celebration of holiday festivities that is this Christmas-week episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, that numbers 284… Ho-Ho-Holy crap, has it been a rough year! If you listened to last week's Epi283, you will have heard that episode's host Marc Hershon echo that sentiment in a non-verbatim fashion. If you listened to that entire episode you would have the memory of enjoying the "Chats" installment Mr. Hershon delivered to you. His guests in that episode were none other than Dr. London Smith and Cameron Clark of The Jock Doc Podcast. It's a great episode and I urge you check it out if you hadn't already. I've got clips for you for this episode. FOUR to be precise. They are from the soundcasts Web Crawlers, Triple Click, No Dogs in Space, and How Did This Get Made? I've also got a Succotash Holiday Classic of a Henderson's Pants ad for you in this episode that will drop the week of Christmas so…'tis the season and all that. Me, I'm rediscovering my enjoyment the holiday season in a whole new context since having a child. He has holiday enthusiasm, and it is infectious to me. I never hated Christmas exactly…but my enthusiasm for it had waned until recent years. Funny thing, that.… Well, 4 clips means plus or minus 25% more show, so let's get to it… CLIPS Web Crawlers Comedians Ali Segel and Melissa Stetten kick around unsolved mysteries, creepy cults, paranormal experiences and everything in between. Our clip is from a few weeks back (12/2/21), "Real Housewives of Crime", where they discuss some of the biggest crimes involving cast members from the Real Housewives franchise, and we catch the beginning of their deep dive into Jen Shah's telemarketing scheme. Beware of mild spoilers for the "real housewives of…" I'm going to say, "Utah"? Triple Click Part of the Maximum Fun stable of soundcasts, Triple Click features video game experts Kirk Hamilton, Maddy Myers, and Jason Schreier blasting through the fascinating world of games, from news and culture, and answering listener questions, to debating the pros and cons of the biggest new games, and replaying old classics together. We've taken a clip from their episode that dropped on November 11th of this year, entitled "Skyrim Turns Ten", during which Maddy and Kirk share their initial reactions to Skyrim. No Dogs in Space No Dogs In Space is a music history podcast, featuring Marcus Parks and Carolina Hidalgo of the Last Podcast Network. Our clips throws back to July of last year (2020), and their interview with Allan Arkush, the director of Rock N Roll High School, where he talks about how the movie evolved from what was going tobe called Disco High. How Did This Get Made? Ever seen a movie so bad that it's amazing? Hosts Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas won't just talk about it - they'll watch it with their funniest friends, and report back with the results. They've been doing it for years, as proven by the fact that our clip comes from an episode of HDTGM? from January of 2014, which was then re-released in December of this year (2021). It was a Matinee Monday episode delving into the history and mystery of Jack Frost with guest Dan Harmon. I chose this as an extra clip this week due to being reminded of its existence by Stephen Krueger of Nooner Podcast. That's a soundcast that airs LIVE on Tuesday nights, 7:30 pm Pacific time…and has been running for over 10 years like THIS show has. Mr. Krueger mentioned that he had heard this episode that featured Dan Harmon and then he mentioned how he missed Dan Harmon…and I thought to myself "Yeah, so do I…I should probably listen to that episode again…I barely remember it etc etc…anyway, I enjoyed hearing it again SO much, I had to include a clip of it for this episode. Buckle up, folks! At which point our episode will have reached its final moments. It's been real, 2021…a bit TOO real but, I mean…what else IS there? This is what life is. Sometimes it is hard, but sometimes it is also funny. Both of those things are relative and subjective of course but that doesn't negate anything. Having intense joy and intense grief in steady amounts for an extended period of time can be brain-changing. Laughter has helped, and I HAVE had that this year. I consider myself fortunate to have that, and to know the people that I do. I'm grateful for family, friends, and friendlies alike. Connections have been rough for more people at the same time than likely any other time in modern history. Technology has helped a great deal and I am also grateful for that. Connecting has always been difficult for me, therefore I am always grateful for it. Thank you to everyone who communicated with me in person, thru the written word, or by telecommunication. Those of you who have heard me say "Be Decent To Each Other" and were either already doing that or have begun to, I would like to thank you for both those scenarios being a part of our shared reality. Thank you for listening, Happy Holidays, and if someone asks you if you have heard anything good or interesting lately, and we come to mind, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner

Saluton, estas mi, Tyson Saner, your host for this episode of Succotash that numbers 282. I had a couple episodes off recently so executive producer Marc Hershon with whom I share hosting duties stepped up to bring you a fresh show, two weeks in a row. Thank you kindly, sir. The first, Epi280, featured an interview with the hilarious Dana Gould who, aside from being a comedian most of his life and writing for The Simpsons, amongst other credits, has a great web-based series on his YouTube channel called Hanging with Dr. Z, in which he plays Dr. Zaius from the original Planet of the Apes movies now hosting his own TV talk show…click the link and check that out when you get the time. And for last week's Episode 281, Mr. Hershon brought you a quartet of clips from the never-featured-on-Succotash-before soundcasts known as B3F, Carefully Reckless, Everything is Alive, and The Amelia Project. This is also an episode that you should check out at your earliest convenience. On this particular installment of Succotash I've clipped three soundcasts for you to experience. They are called F**K My Work Life, Sodajerker On Songwriting, and Rice To Meet You. I've also got an advert from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants for you sure to raise a ruckus - it's for their RepubliFit Jeans. So, how have you been? Crazy year right? It's hard to believe another one is almost over…but I tend to feel that way at the end of every week so…that particular shade of incredulity is a familiar sensation for me. I'd say "I don't know where the time goes" but that's not true. I DO know where time goes. It goes away. And while you're pondering that one, here's another thing for you that is also not true: I believe there are two types of people, people who believe in dichotomies, and people who don't know what they are! CLIPS F**k My Work Life Hosts Jay & Kay (no last names) use this forum to sharing your workplace stories, with a few of their own, so we can all laugh and/or cry together. Our featured clip comes from their recent episode "Podcast Time Travel", which dropped on October 20, 2021. Jay and Kay are all by themselves again this week and they are officially calling out Coors Light to become a sponsor. They're sharing listener workplace stories, along with some of their own, and debuting the new Rant Line segment! Sodajerker On Songwriting A program devoted to the art and craft of songwriting, Sodajerker On Songwriting is created and hosted by Simon Barber and Brian O'Connor, AKA the UK songwriting team Sodajerker from Liverpool, featuring interviews with some of the most successful songwriters and musicians in the world. Our clip is from October 14, 2021, a bonus episode with Giles Martin on Remixing The Beatles. Rice To Meet You A comedy podcast about Asian culture, Rice to Meet You is hosted by two UK-based comedians - Nigel Ng and Evelyn Mok. Just like Succotash, new episodes of their show drop every every Tuesday. I've clipped from a fairly recent show back in August entitled "We're Becoming White Middle Class People", and our snippet contains a portion of Nigel's visit to Soho Farmhouse, a chic, countryside hotel. That brings us merrily along to the end of the first episode of December, #282. Next week Marc Hershon will likely have Epi 283 all ready to go for your listening pleasure. In case you DID want to listen to our archive of episodes, you can probably find them on whichever service you are listening to us on now…and you can definitely find them in the show's archive built up over the last 10 YEARS over at www.succotashshow.com. If you like video games and the concept of watching other people playing them, you can find a LOT of content of exactly that over at my YouTube channel under a collective banner of content called "Tyson Saner: Gamer". Tweet me at @revt23 and let me know if you do become a viewer of that and/or a listener of THIS. If you become a viewer of this - which is made possible by audio-only-aside-from-limited-imagery episodes being posted on the YouTube channel "Marc Hershon" by…you guessed it, Marc Hershon! Any way you find us, any way you experience us, I do hope your experience is an interesting one…like in a GOOD way…Tweet the show at @SuccotashShow and let us know! Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and if anyone asks if you have heard anything interesting…or if you independently come to the realization that you would like to volunteer that information to someone you believe would be receptive to it…won't you Please…Pass The Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner…as correctly stated by our illustrious announcer Bill Heywatt. Welcome to Succotash Episode 279. I am your every-other-weekly host which means last week show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon had the hosting duties for Epi278. In that episode, Mr. Hershon interviewed improvisational performer, actor, and voice actor Peter Kim. On the voice acting tip, you might know Peter as the voice of Benny on the Amazon Prime cartoon Fairfax. Perhaps you have heard the soundcast he shares with Eunji Kim called The Ajumma Show, which was featured in Succotash Epi270. Or perhaps you are hearing of him for the first time now. You can always go back and listen to last week's show to hear that interview where Mr. Hershon and Mr. Kim discuss a great many interesting things. (I listen to EVERY episode of Succotash so that I may give my opinion of them with the utmost confidence. I do a LOT of listening. It's kind of my thing…) Anyway, welcome to THIS week's show where I've clipped some soundcasts for you to get a feel for before potentially seeking out more content from those selfsame soundcasts. I've got clips from Blood and Black Rum Podcast, I Finally Watched, and Screen Drafts. BTW, I've never used the word "selfsame" before the time before the most recent usage of it which was about 14 words ago counting from not this next, but the previous utterance of the word "about". (Also, it takes exactly the same amount of time to say "Bee Tee Dubs" as it does to say "By The Way".) This episode is sponsored by our mythological sponsor Henderson's Pants' new Bivouac Briefs, developed by the military-industrial complex for soldiers in the field until the program was scrapped and sold off for pennies on the dollar to Old Man Henderson. CLIPS Screen Drafts The soundcast where experts and enthusiasts competitively collaborate in the creation of screen-centric "best of" lists. Hosted by draft commissioners Clay Keller and Ryan Marker, who exhibit the "Most impeccable taste in guests," according to Entertainment Weekly magazine. Our clip is from back in January, the episode that dropped on January 18, and featured director Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) and soundcaster David Chen (Culturally Relevant) competitively ranking the best seven films of director John Woo - cue the doves! Blood and Black Rum PodcastThis cult film/horror soundcast, now in its 6th year according to the website, is hosted weekly by Ryne Barber and Chris Martin, faithfully bringing you "two dudes, brews, and a film. From September of this year, Episode 186 "So Creepy It's Carpenter II / The Fog" was part of the hosts' Halloween season spent with Carpenter's filmography. They regard The Fog as one of the director's better films and yet they have some thoughts about why it falls somewhere in the middle of his best output. they dive deep into this one (as they do all their subjects) so our clip just scratches the surface. (Oh, yeah — the beer on tap for this one is Leinenkugel's Collaboration Lager!) I Finally Watched… So many movies, so little time! Two cinephile friends, David and Alain, watch movies that at least one of them has never seen before and discuss whether it was worth the wait, if the movie holds up, and would they watch it again. Back in April, they finally got around to Amadeus from 1984, starring Tom Hulce and F. Murray Abraham. Our clip captures a bit of their back and forth about this period piece. And that's what gone into the making of Episode 279. I do hope that if you had happened to stumble across us on your way to find something to listen to that we accomplished our mission in bringing you a few more ideas. It's what this show has been doing for over 10 years now. The reason this episode is titled "Three for the Road" is, well, there are three clips included. Plus I'm hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday, so executive producer and my every-other-weekly-host Marc will be driving the Succotash bus for the next two week, Episodes 280 and 281. I will be back after that with more clips for you in Episode 282. What would really thrill me personally to know is if you had heard about us from someone else and decided to seek us out because of their recommendation. That would be awesome. It means what we are doing is working in some intrinsic way. At least, I think that's what it would mean…I just looked up "intrinsic" and I apparently DO have an understanding of how to use that word having never really done so previously. Uh…hooray? Sure, hooray. Hooray for neuroplasticity, a concept I endorse and have frequently thought about. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, go to www.tysonsaner.com for Minecraft videos and other content including original music and other stuff, and if someone does ask if you have heard anything interesting lately and it happens that it was us, won't you please pass the Succotash?
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I am your host for this first Succotash episode of November. It's number 277, welcome to it. How was your Halloween? Mine hasn't happened yet technically but it will have had by the time you hear this so…Who knows? Will I remember to follow up on it to let you know how it went? Will I tweet about it? How far into the future are you? Does Twitter still exist? Does the internet still exist? How about the iPod, did it make a comeback?…Well, even if it does I imagine this show will still refer to podcasts as "soundcasts" and that's fine by me. Last week on Epi276, show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon brought you a quartet of clips from the likes of Mike and Tom Eat Snacks, O'Brien & Bolt: the Podcasts, The Dana Gould Hour, and The Projection Booth/Kulturecast crossover. It's an episode full of entertainment and I urge you to check it out at your earliest convenience. This week, I've selected 3 clips for your listening pleasure. They are from the soundcasts known as Half Hour Happy Hour: Ladies Night with Alison and Maude (& Tom), Saturday Night Live Afterparty, and Anxiety Bites. There's also a classic Henderson's Pants advert from 2014 - Henderson's Pedestrian Pants - for you to enjoy…or process however you choose to, really. It's a fun ad from our longtime fake sponsor. Can you believe this show has survived for 10 years without actual sponsorship? Well,…it has. CLIPS Half Hour Happy Hour: Ladies Night with Alison and Maude (& Tom) Each week Alison Haislip and Maude Garrett (w/Tom Rajewski) sit down for a half hour of happy hour. Drinks are drank and conversations are had covering stories both important and useless. Sit, relax, and knock back a glass of your favorite adult beverage while you laugh with (or at) them for the next 30ish minutes. Our featured clips is from their October 7th show of this year, entitled "VHS Clamshells from The Vault", where the gang issues back together for more libations and to catch up! Anxiety Bites Comedian Jen Kirkman, who has had life-long Panic and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, brings her life-lessons, humor, and hope to a show that's about normalizing having anxiety so that we go from whispering dramatically, “I have anxiety” to saying out loud with a shrug, “Yeah, I have anxiety.” Jen interviews experts with anxiety — be they PhD's, creatives, or spiritual gurus — for advice on how to self-diagnose, begin to treat, and how to live easily with everyday anxiety and panic and, at the very least, giving an interesting, relatable, calming listen. We clip the show called "Anxiety is Old Habit!" from just this past month, where Jen talked to NY Times Bestselling Author, MD, PhD, Dr. Jud Brewer and finds out how our fingers can help us during a panic attack, sometimes neuroscience puts out the fire of anxiety better than therapy, and why the hell haven't our brains evolved beyond thinking we're in danger when we're not? Saturday Night Live (SNL) Afterparty A Peabody Award-coveting podcast review of NBC's storied late night show SNL, featuring intimate, probing, aggressive—yet tender—conversations with fresh, young, supple voices from across the comedy landscape. Hosted by John Murray of the Spry Agency, and including Katherine Coleman and Steve Finn. Our clip is from the episode looking at Owen Wilson's hosting on October 2nd of this year, as well as musical guest Kacey Musgraves. And that's what's in store in our first show of November, the first show after Halloween…and we march steadily on towards December and the end of the year that was 2021…Or rather, still IS 2021. How is it that 2021 has been actually somewhat more frustrating than 2020 was? I suppose that's a subjective observation but I'd be willing to bet that I am not alone in that estimation. Thank you for listening, I do hope you got something out of this brief moment in time and that it was positive. I do hope 2022 is better but I'm in no hurry to get there lately. Time moves too fast for my taste lately. Perspective is what it is. Next show up in a week is Epi278 and Marc Hershon is at the wheel and then, presumably, I will be back for Epi279. Until then, be decent to each other, try not to spread disease or bad ideas, and if anyone asks you if you have heard anything interesting lately and it happens to be us that fills in that particular blank for you, won't you do us the utmost of favors and please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Episode 275 of Succotash — I'm glad you found us. We have been here for over 10 years now, bringing clips of soundcasts from more-or-less around the globe for your ears to sample in the hopes that you might hear something you like and would like to hear more of, well, more of other people's soundcasts, specifically. Last week in Epi274, my co-host and your every-other-show-host Marc Hershon brought you what he referred to as "a full rack of clips" and I concur. He clipped from soundcasts For What It's Worth, Storytime with Seth Rogen, How to Survive! with Danielle & Kristine, and Films to Be Buried With with Brett Goldstein. He also featured a bonus clip of a soundcast called "What Are You Watching?, hosted by soundcaster and friend of the show Chris Mancini. The clip was from a recent episode that none other than the aforementioned Marc Hershon was a guest on. Lots of great content in that episode. This, however, is Epi275 and I've got three clips. One apiece from the soundcasts known as Dragon Talk, Cinemassacre Podcast, and Metaphysical Milkshake with Rainn and Reza. I'm sure I will be including a classic advert from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants and their all-inclusive new CoverAlls to "round things out" nicely. I'm using air-quotes when I say "round things out" because I am not sure I am using it correctly in this context. Anyone? CLIPS Dragon TalkGo inside the walls of Dungeons & Dragons for exclusive interviews and previews as the D&D team sits down each week with celebrities and personalities from across gaming and pop culture to discuss one of the greatest fantasy brands of all-time. Hosts Greg Tito and Shelly Mazzanoble talk about the tabletop roleplaying game, as the latest in D&D video games, comics, novels, movies, and television. Our clip is from May of last year, with special guest, comedian and actor Jeff Cannata diving into the Random Character Generator with Kate Welch. Cinemassacre Podcast The crew of Cinemassacre (James Rolfe, Kieran Fallon, and Justin Silverman) are out of the Nerd Room and into your ear-holes. They chat about their lives and the stuff they love: movies, games, and making videos. You'll also hear about behind-the-scenes antics, anecdotes about being long-time YouTubers, and a ton of obscure pop-culture crap. It's the off-the-cuff banter from Rental Reviews mixed with an AVGN panel, every Tuesday! Our clip comes from just back around the corner - this past September - in an episode entitled, "Wy Do We Destroy Video Games?, Bigfoot, and Re-Editing Star Wars". Metaphysical Milkshake with Rainn & Reza Hosted by actor Rainn Wilson and scholar Reza Aslan, Metaphysical Milkshake is a weekly soundcast where they go deep, get weird…and search for the meaning of life along the way. Every week the co-hosts guide you through conversations about Life's Big Questions. And a clip from just last month, they pose one such query to their guest, Grammy-winning musician Jason Isbell, asking him, "Where Does Music Come From?" I believe that's a pretty decent selection of audio from other peoples' soundcasts. I do enjoy listening to other people have conversations about all sorts of things. Were it not for being involved with this particular soundcast for the number of years that I have, I don't know if I would have ever heard the variety or sheer amount of other peoples conversations. I do have soundcasts that I listen to regularly, meaning that I will hear every episode they post as soon as possible after they post and I feel very fortunate to be able to do so. I think it has made me a better listener in general somehow… perhaps it functions the same way practicing anything theoretically is supposed to…I really don't know. Anyway, next week Marc Hershon will be back with more content in Epi276 and I will should be back the week after that if that is indeed what the future has in store for me. I am still making videogaming content for my YouTube channel which you can find by searching my name "Tyson Saner" in YouTube or you can go to www.tysonsaner.com to find a direct link to my channel as well as to various other entertainment endeavors I have been a part of in my improbably fortunate existence. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and if anyone asks you if you have heard anything interesting recently and that thing happens to be any of the content in this episode, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I am your host for the duration of this episode of Succotash numbering 273. Last week in Epi272, my co-host and every-other-show-host Marc Hershon brought the listener, which may or may not have included you, a Chats episode where he sat down to talk with John Ross Bowie (The Big Bang Theory, Speechless) of the Household Faces soundcast and, as Marc put it "literally dozens and dozens of things". It's a fun interview and I urge you to check it out soon. This week it's a clip show for you, so I've got a trio of clips for you from the soundcasts Amazing Pop Culture Podcast, Life is Short with Justin Long, and WTF with Marc Maron. I've also got an advert from longtime non-paying sponsor Henderson's Pants and their new Leaf Behind Pants, just in time for Fall, to round out the episode nicely. CLIPS Amazing Pop Culture Podcast This soundcast provides expert commentary on comedy, music, movies, TV, news, history and everything in between. Hosts Dags and Assistant Manager Mike Resin enjoy their childish comedy and light-hearted fun! Our clip is from August of this year, the episode entitled: "Masters of the Universe: the Kevin Smith Cut". The boys dip into the 2021 Netflix animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation, developed by Kevin Smith. Life is Short with Justin Long Every episode features host Justin Long cracking open the heads of his guests to get to the good stuff: how they find meaning in life, what their favorite snack food is, which emoji they use most, etc. Our clip goes back a couple of years to pre-pandemic November, 2019, and guest Kevin Smith. They swap stories from Tusk, Zack and Miri Make A Porno, and all the other projects they've worked on together. And Kevin talks about how his Catholic upbringing was a gateway to his worship of superheroes. WTF with Marc Maron Back in March of this year, comedian/actor//writer Marc Maron welcomed Eddie Murphy in to talk about his standup days, Richard Pryor, his movie career, fatherhood and why now was the right time to make Coming 2 America. We clip off a little bitty piece of that convo. That, then, concludes the first episode of October. I do hope you find some entertainment in what I've brought to you, and I hope it also perhaps gives you one or two ideas as to what you might choose to listen to next. If we piqued your interest in the slightest then we can safely put that one in the "win" column as it were. Another thing before I go: There will be another episode of my other regular soundcast, Anti Social Show, coming out very soon…perhaps it might even have been released before you hear me mention it in this episode of Succotash. If it has been released by the time you hear Epi275 I will be sure to let you know. You can also look for it and other episodes of Anti Social Show on my Soundcloud which can be found linked alongside many other links for the various things I am currently or have been involved in over the years at tysonsaner.com including original music and soundcast remixes along with links to my YouTube channel where I offer LOADS of gaming content, mostly console, many retro, more Minecraft coming. (I suppose that's more like "a few other things" rather than "another thing" as previously stated and for that, I apologize.) Thank you for listening. Be decent to each other. Please think of others when it comes to public health matters, and if anyone asks if you heard anything interesting recently won't you please…Pass The Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner, your host for this episode of Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, that numbers #271. This show is now in it's 10th year. Did you know that? Have you been here before? If not, welcome! If so, welcome back! If you are looking for a soundcast that tells you about other peoples' soundcasts on a regular basis then you've come to the right place. It's what we do here at Succotash…for 10 years now. Yes, I know I already said that…it's STILL sinking in for me. Those of you who listened to last week's episode will already know that it was hosted by this soundcast's creator and executive producer Marc Hershon. Number #270 it was and there was some top-notch content from the soundcasts known as The Ajumma Show", Geto Boys Reloaded", and Household Faces. There was also a funny musical clip found by Patton Oswalt by a singer/musician by the name of Nick Lutsko. It was a folk song comprised of the bizarre rantings of someone called "Alex Jones". This wasn't samples that were auto-tuned BTW, this was someone singing while a guitar was also playing. (I understand that that is a clunky way to put that. I also understand that "that that" is a strange sounding way to say anything. I usually turn the first "that" into a "thet" so it sounds like "thet that" when I use my outside voice.) ANYWAY…Epi270 also contained a clip of the late great Norm Macdonald from an episode of Norm Macdonald Live, a podcast that he had hosted with Adam Eget back in 2013. The show has 3 seasons of interviews and is back on YouTube after having been made unavailable in 2018 for some time. The clip had previously been featured on Succotash #89 and was part of an interview that Mr. Macdonald had conducted with the wonderful Carl Reiner. Rest In Peace both of them. This week, I've got clips from the soundcasts Dad Pants, Shenk and The Endless Honeymoon Podcast. This episode is sponsored by Henderson's Pants new Bivouac Pants! I do hope you enjoy what I've selected… CLIPS Dad PantsThis first clip was submitted among a handful of clips by a new show from some old friends. Stuart Buckland had a show back in the day called The Angry Chimp, which we featured in Epi84. He then eclipsed that 'cast in favor of What A Pair of Trousers, clipped in our Epi88. The Angry Chimp resurfaced and we had a clip in Epi107. Finally, back in Epi170 in 2018, Stu popped up again with the same lads and a new show called Welcome to Television. Now these lads are more or less dads with a suitably titled show: Dad Pants. It took Stu's friend Monty Leadon having a baby and asking the odd random question to make him realize that he didn't really talk to anyone about his parenting. Simultaneously, Monty found himself anxious about his impending fatherhood and wasn't sure how to start conversations about how he was feeling. The Dad Pants soundcast was born because when a microphone is in front of your face, you have to talk! The premise is that Monty asks Stu and a panel of other dads questions about what he is about to go through. I've selected the clip called "Prepping for Hospital", where the dads fill Monty in on what he needs to pack for the hospital. ShenkHost Sara Weinshenk sits down to talk to fellow comedian Kimberly Congdon (host of Broad Topix), discussing everything from mermaid dick to ass play plus ideal first dates and the podcast they are launching together. (They had a soundcast together called Stoned Science that I clipped for Epi168 waaaaay back in early 2018. They also have a new soundcast in the works called The Show.) The Endless Honeymoon PodcastNatasha Leggero and Moshe Kasher, married comedians, are using their hilariously hard-won wisdom on relationships and building on their hit Netflix special to help others by offering love advice to callers while simultaneously examining the ups and downs of their own relationship! Our clip comes from a recent show where their guest was Weird Al Yankovic. They discuss Al being perfectly suited to quarantine and hypothetically living to 120, and they give advice to a caller struggling to find meaning after ending a serious relationship. This, then, represents the end of this episode IF you were listening instead of reading this. You can reach me on social media, specifically Twitter and Instagram at @revt23 and let me know how much (or how little) you may have enjoyed this installment. I'm pretty interactive given the chance. Hey…change of topic…do you enjoy watching videos on YouTube to alleviate boredom, or perhaps to facilitate it? I've got plenty of gaming videos over at the channel that bears my name - Tyson Saner - including a playlist of over 10 hours of "Minecraft ASMR" footage that just might put you to sleep. It also might captivate you. I'm building a sort-of pyramid house right next to an actual pyramid. It's a trip. I'm also still theoretically giving out shout-outs for people who guessed the theme in Epi 269 by using the hashtag #Epi269Theme on Twitter.…no takers yet as far as I can see…anyway, thank you again for listening. Be decent to each other, and if someone asks you if you've heard something interesting lately, and you'd be telling the truth by doing so, won't you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. I am your host for this episode of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, that numbers 269. Last week's Episode 268 was hosted by show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon who, in case you're new to Succotash, has been hosting shows every other week with me…or rather I have been doing so with him…for over a year now. It has been a great way to make sure there is a new show every week for people to discover, recommend, and just basically rely on for weekly entertainment. Speaking of "If you're new to Succotash", thank you for listening! If you listened to last week's show, you will already know that it was a chats episode with nary a clip to be found, but dense with conversational goodness to be listened to with none other than comedian, actor, and musician Rick Overton! That episode is called "Palaverin' with Rick Overton" appropriately and is well worth the listen. aside from being on Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, Podcast FM, PodBay, and others, it is also archived over at www.succotashshow.com as is every episode of Succotash that has been released in the last 10 years. This week's episode is a biggie for me. Literally the longest show I've put together for you since before the shorter, weekly format started back in 2020. It's clips and a big ole chunk of chat…I've got clips from the soundcasts Gluten Free Gaming, The Spawn Chunks, and Coffee With Butterscotch for starters, and then a rather sizable chunk from another soundcast I co-host with my friend Hunter Block called Anti Social Show. The clip features part of a conversation I was fortunate enough to have with comedian, actor, musician, and past Succotash guest (Epi55) Andy Kindler. I'm very excited to share that with you here. I would like to point out that this episode is themed in a particular way…and I wonder if you can figure out what that theme is by the end of the show? I guess we'll have to see, won't we? Anyway, let's get to it! Gluten Free GamingLisi and Lucy are two women who can't eat gluten and who want to share their favorite games with each other and everyone else! Join us as we subject each other to games and other nerdy media that we love and want to make everyone else love as well! Listen if you want to find the best gluten-free games available, or if you just want to hang. Our clip hails from their very first "Some Like it Honk - Untitled Goose Game" episode from August 2021 - just last month! The Spawn Chunks - A Minecraft Podcast Joel Duggan & Pixlriffs host The Spawn Chunks, a podcast all about Minecraft. We dig into Minecraft related news and development snapshots, explore game content and the Minecraft community, and craft our personal thoughts and experiences about the game we love. In a clip from their recent 150th episode (!), hosts Joel and Jonny share their thoughts on exploring the new Minecraft terrain generation in the first Caves & Cliffs Experimental Snapshot. Coffee with ButterscotchNow up to 325 episodes, Coffee with Butterscotch is the hilarity-filled official podcast of award-winning video game studio Butterscotch Shenanigans, an independent video game studio best known for its smash hit Crashlands. The podcast features founders Seth Coster (the games programmer), Adam Coster (the web programmer), Sam Coster (the artist), and other awesome people. Clipped from six years ago, Epi18 was when Sam is STILL stuck in the hospital, so in this episode had Adam and Seth carrying the torch and discussing all kinds of random crap. My question to you is, by the time you get to theend of this week's installment, will you be able to guess the theme of this particular show? Tweet @succotashshow and use the hashtag #Epi269Theme. The first 5 correct answers will receive shoutouts when I return in Epi271 with who knows what I'll have in store for you? Probably clips…maybe a chat…maybe a bit of both? I really don't know at this point in time. Anyway, I do hope you enjoyed your time and perhaps came away with a few new ideas of what to listen to next. There's plenty of shows in the archive at www.succotashshow.com and since they've been accumulating for over 10 years now, there's a rather unique overall audio documentary of the history of soundcasting…filtered thru the prism of other people's audio content from around the English-speaking parts of the globe. If you wouldn't mind writing a review of our show it would really help us out in getting inside the listening-space of as many people as possible. We'd really appreciate it. Thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and don't forget to Pass The Succotash… — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, Episode 267, I will be your host thru a small selection of soundcast clips for which to theoretically make you interested in hearing the full episode…or at least give you an idea of what to expect on whichever soundcast we happen to clip…that's the basic idea. Last week on Epi266 my co-host and every-other-show-host Marc Hershon brought his "A" game with a show full of "B"s. Not the buzzy things that pollinate flowers and make honey and such but many things that start with the letter "B" — including the return of one of my favorite segments "Boozin' with Bill" with our very own Bill Heywatt, and clips from the soundcasts Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast, The Bitch Bible, Breaking Bread with Tom Papa, and Brittlestar's Really Great Podcast.…There's even a small chat with friend of Succotash and longtime soundcaster Chris Mancini…who does not seem to have a single "B" in his name…but other than that little inconsistency, the episode and all of the content contained within it is top-notch. Check it out if you should be interested in doing so. This week, I've got clips from the soundcasts Screams and Moans, The Goods From The Woods, and Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster. There's also a classic Henderson's Pants advert for their patented Pain Pants kicking around somewhere in the rotation so y'all have got that to look forward to as well. (Real sponsors take note, we are in the market for one or more of you…as we have been for 10+ years.) Anyway, thank you for listening… CLIPS Screams and MoansThe podcast about movies and sex but not together because that would be porn. Our clips is from February of this year (2021) - the episode entitled "Second Time is Better". Friends of Succotash abound here, in cluding host Megan Pentecost and her guest, Jason "Jabs" McNamara from The Dhead Factor and Boganwood soundcasts. Our clip is them getting into the movie The Event Horizon. The Goods from the Woods Hosts Rivers Langley, Pat Reilly, and Mr. Goodnight head off on their intrepid aural expedition through the world of oft-forgotten pop culture, featuring personal tales and recollections on the theme from the hosts and their special weekly guests. Reportedly, The Goods from the Woods will leave you enlightened and enraptured. Also, you will laugh. In this clip from long-ago 2013, the boys welcome yet another friend of Succotash Travis Clark (now a soundcast producer but then co-host of Tiny Odd Conversations with his wife Brandi Clark. Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster Comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster invite special guests into their magical restaurant to each choose their favourite starter, main course, side dish, dessert and drink. In this special edition we clipped, from just this past June, the special of the day is Dan Aykroyd of SNL, Blues Brothers, and Ghostbusters fame. He dropped into promote his Crystal Head vodka. And there's what's in store. I do hope you find something enjoyable during the time you spend listening to it. I try to find find things that are both entertaining and informative for you…or at least one of those things when possible. It's all as subjective as comedy but I still try. Next week for Epi268, Marc Hershon will have something for you, and, presumably, I will have something for you in two weeks. Until then, if you are looking for more content to listen to, you can check out the show archive at www.succotashshow.com, you can check out Anti Social Show, a soundcast I host with Hunter Block on Soundcloud and at www.tysonsaner.com…and if you like gaming content there's plenty of that on my YouTube channel which is under my name - Tyson Saner - as well as being conveniently linked at my website along with a few other things. I am also available to guest on your soundcast so contact me if you are desperate for either content or human contact. Until show #269, be decent to each other, mask up to protect the unvaccinated, and if anyone asks if you've heard anything interesting lately won't you Please…Pass The Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Episode 256 of Succotash. For those of you who are new here, thank you for choosing us to listen to. Last week in episode 264 show creator and every-other-episode host of Succotash Marc Hershon sat down with his longtime friend and former roommate Mark Pitta for a chats episode called "Visitin' Virtually with Mark Pitta". You can find that episode in the show archive at www.succotashshow.com and thru various soundcast listening services such as Apple or Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Audible, and Soundcloud just to name a few. What is your preferred listening platform? I'll take my answer off-air. This week I have a trio of clips for you from the soundcasts Salty Language, A Hot Dog is a Sandwich, and Don't Ask Tig…and of course this episode contains a classic advertisement from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants for their celebrated Down Under Pants. CLIPS Salty Language Just like Succotash, our friends Bryan Stewart and Tony High over at the Salty Language soundcast are into their 10th year of soundcasting! They rant on a variety of topics, ranging from comic books to movies. Recently, in their episdoe from August 4th, the boys Bryan and Tony discussed life, hanging out, bad audio, 10 years of podcasting, Minecraft, non-alcoholic beers, Y: The Last Man series, The Bad Batch, history of wrestling site, Fleets, a SUATMM Galactus figure, their QoftheW, and more! A Hot Dog Is a SandwichMythical Chefs Josh Scherer and Nicole Hendizadeh discuss, debate, and dissect the web's most hilariously controversial culinary quandaries. And in their episode from May 19th, 2021, "Can You Tell The Difference Between Coke and Pepsi?", Josh and Nicole did a blind taste test to find out if they could really tell the difference between the two sodas…or pops, depending where in the US you live. Don't Ask Tig Need advice? Comedian Tig Notaro doesn't have all the answers, but that won't stop her from fielding your questions on life's many challenges. Past Succotash guest Mike Birbiglia joined her recently in the episode from June 21st of this year to dive into the topics of doing a DIY exorcism or what to do if someone from your past wrote an unflattering song about you. That's all I have for you this week. I hope you find some of it entertaining, perhaps informative, various degrees of interesting. There's a LOT of content out there and choosing what to listen to can be challenging at times. Finding time to listen to anything can also be challenging so I am especially grateful that you have chosen to spend this bit of time with me. BTW, I have a channel on YouTube under my name, "Tyson Saner" and a "show" of sorts that features video gaming content from various genres throughout the years. Lately, I've been playing a lot of Minecraft. I've got some videos that are designed to lull you to sleep in a series called "Minecraft A.S.M.R." and, so far, they seem to be doing okay. Also on my channel I've been recording my screen during a soundcast called "Nooner Podcast" that I have been interacting with for 10 years…and doing a live tumblr every Tuesday night at 7:30 for a few years now. Why do we do any of this? I guess it's to have some additional sort of record of these moments in time for future generations...provided that the world is still here for them to look back on with any sort of fondness. Be sure to check out Epi266 next week when Marc will return with who knows what for you to listen to? In the meantime, thank you for listening, be decent to each other, and if anyone asks if you have heard anything good lately won't you please pass the Succotash? - Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. This is Succotash, Episode 263, and I will be your host for the duration. For those of you new to this soundcast, welcome! This is a show that listens to other people's soundcasts and clips them to give our audience a sample so that in the event they are looking for more soundcasts to listen to, they would theoretically have a few more ideas of what is waiting out there for them to enjoy. Last week on Epi262, my co-host (and every-other-show-host) Marc Hershon cast his ears out into the world and found 6 soundcasts to feature audio from. Five selected for the main show and one special clip to memorialize soundcaster Mat George of the soundcast She Rates Dogs which he had co-hosted with Michaela Okland until his unexpected and recent death at the age of 26. That episode can be found on our homesite at www.succotashshow.com or any of the places that you might find soundcasts to listen to including, but not limited to: Apple & Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, Podbay, and there are also episodes up on YouTube that are audio only. Yes, that most certainly is a thing. This episode I've got clips for you from the soundcasts Pretending With Dice, I Said No Gifts!, and Doughboys. I've also got a fantastic classic (as in 'produced many years ago ) advert from our longtime fictional sponsor Henderson's Pants and their RepubliFit Jeans! CLIPS I Said No Gifts! Host Bridger Winegar invites friends, loved ones, and people he's secretly trying to destroy to join him in conversation. He only has one request: No gifts! Naturally, every guest disobeys, meaning their chat will eventually turn to whatever object lies beneath the wrapping paper. Our clip is from April 29, 2021, when Jimmy Kimmel Disobeys Bridger - Bridger is the epitome of grace even when Kimmel rudely gives him a gift. They discuss RVs, clam chowder, and toothpicks. DoughboysThe podcast about chain restaurants. Comedians Mike Mitchell and Nick Wiger review fast food/sit-down chains and generally argue about food/everything. This clip hails from July 8th, 2021, the episode entitled "Golden Road Brewing with Jordan Morris" - Jordan Morris (Bubble, Jordan, Jesse, Go!) joins the boys and talks Lord of the Rings and summer treats before a review of Golden Road Brewing. Plus, another edition of "Let Me Be Frank" - the clip is comprised mainly of the opening of the LMBF segment. Pretending With Dice An Actual-Play Tabletop RPG Podcast, playing various RPG systems in short story-arcs, featuring original music and soundscapes for a complete, immersive audio storytelling experience. This clip was harvested from May 20, 2021, the episode entitled "PWD Worldbuilding: The Amethyst Isles". AJ and Eden discuss the enigmatic Amethyst Isles, an archipelago broken off from the mainland by an ancient magical war. And here we are again, together at the end...of the description of this episode. I do hope you enjoy this experience, and I hope that your takeaway from it involves seeking out one or more of the soundcasts you heard a sample of. That would make me happy indeed to know that I had acheived the desired effect. I would like to mention that I am currently adding more gaming content to my YouTube channel: Tyson Saner: Gamer. I've been playing a decent amount of Minecraft lately and, in addition to the at-this-time 13 episodes of hosting Minecraft videos with gameplay and commentary, I've added two different flavors of "Minecraft" content. One flavor is an episode of yours truly playing Minecraft and explaining it to my co-host of Anti Social Show Hunter Block, and the other flavor is basically what might best be described as "Minecraft ASMR". It's over two hours of "Minecraft" footage with no commentary, and no speed-ups. Just "Minecraft" in real time…to relax and soothe…theoretically.…I will also be adding more "Minecraft ASMR" videos to my channel so eventually there will be hours and hours of calming, relaxing, and hopefully sleep-inducing "Minecraft" footage to possibly satisfy a craving you never knew you had… Just thought I'd throw that in at the end here. Thank you for listening, please rate and review us, be decent to each other, consider continuing to mask up to protect the unvaccinated against the more deadly and/or contagious COVID variants out there, and if anyone asks if you heard any interesting soundcasts lately won't you please…pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton! Estas mi Tyson Saner. I am your host this week on Epi261 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Thank you for joining me! In case you missed last week's Episode 260, my co-host - and every-other-show-host - Marc Hershon gathered a quartet of clips from the soundcasts Better Off Better, BHHcast, Play With Pain, and Plumbing the Death Star. If you get the chance, I urge you to check that out sometime by looking for our show on Apple or Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and some other places including in the archive at our homesite at SuccotashShow.com. This episode I've got clips from 3 Girls 1 Kitchen, Strange Times, and Round Springfield. I've also got a fun ad for Passive Aggro Pants from our longtime fake sponsor Henderson's Pants to throw into the mix…because, after all, what would an episode of Succotash be without a segment devoted to a sponsor that we've never seen dime one from because THEY DON'T EXIST! CLIPS 3 Girls 1 Kitchen This is a show for the internet age. Filled to the brim with not only food, but a recipe for disaster. Join Lana, Olivia, and Alexa as they talk dating, sex, culture, and interview some of today's hottest celebs. Our clip comes from just last month: June 4th, 2021 and, in this episode, the girls get political and share their views on Caitlyn Jenner running for governor, Lana reveals some major life news, and they discuss how different attachment styles can affect relationships. Strange TimesI clipped "Gash", the June 29th episode of this weekly comedy & satirical podcast presented by Davian Dent, Kat Sorens & Dom Risk. Davian is out of hospital but quite clearly still under the influence of the industrial-grade pain killers he was prescribed… Round SpringfieldThis Simpsons-adjacent podcast is hosted by Allie Goertz and Julia Prescott, interviewing writers, directors, showrunners, and voice-actors from the Simpsons-verse on their various paths to Springfield, failed pilots, other projects, and beyond. Although these guys are still churning out episodes today, we flash back to March 30th, 2015 for "Flaming Moe's" (with J. Elvis Weinstein). Weinstein sets the stage for Allie and Julia on what the world was like when The Simpsons' Cheers-centric episode first aired. I hope you find something to enjoy or at least find interesting in trhis week's bounty. I'm leaving "funny" out of the conversation because of how subjective humor is. Comedy can be elusive but soundcasts are plentiful. I didn't really have more to that thought, it's just two things that are true next to each other. Not all soundcasts are meant to be funny after all. Here's a secret: Life isn't meant to be funny. Actually, I have no idea if that's true or not because it implies that life is supposed to have any sort of meaning and I am not the authority on that subject. Life can be very funny and not just strange but also the "ha-ha" variety. In the next episode, #262, Marc Hershon will have something for you to listen to…but since that's in my future I have no idea what that something will be except that it will likely be comedy and/or soundcast-related in some way…although it does not have to be. If you decide to listen again in 2 weeks I will be back with something else. Until then, be decent to each other, beware of asymptomatic spread, and if someone asks if you've heard anything interesting lately would you please pass the Succotash? — Tyson Saner
Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner and I am your host this week for Epi259 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Thank you for joining me. Did you happen to catch last week's episode hosted by my co-host and every-other-show-host Marc Hershon? It was called "Mixin' Up A Mess O'Soundcasts" and featured clips from soundcasts Did You Get My Text?, Left-Handed Radio, May Contain Nuts, Stay F. Homekins, and a mini-clip from The Midnight Miracle. He also featured a clip from a recent Jock Doc Podcast in which he guest-starred. That episode of Succotash is still available to listen to on Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, and several other listening platforms so why not check it out when you get the chance? It's worth your time. This week, I've got clips for you from soundcasts Self Esteem Party, Conversation For Adults, and Comedy Bang Bang...and since it's now officially Summer, we're brought to you by Henderson's Pants Wake Island Abbreviated Trousers. I can't think of a single reason to delay the proceedings any further so…on with the clips! CLIPS Self Esteem Party They call themselves "the perfect blend of comedy and honesty. Each week Alana Johnston interviews one of her showbiz pals and dives right into the core of who they are in this hilarious and painfully real podcast that explores all things Self Esteem." Our clip is from their episode from March 16, 2021, with guest Nick Wiger (Doughboys, How Did This Get Played?) talking about phone-free Sundays, Alana's text anxiety and how Nick is now best friends with Alana's dad! Conversation For Adults Culture-critic Jimi Izrael rediscovers America by talking to people you may or may not know, about everything. What comes up, comes out. Lots of fun. No filter. We're featuring a clip with guest Andy Kindler (a past Succotash guest - Epi55: Noshin' with Andy Kindler). Comedy Bang Bang: The Podcast Join host Scott Aukerman (Comedy Bang! Bang! on IFC, Mr. Show) for a weekly podcast that blends conversation and character work from today's funniest comedians. While Scott begins by traditionally interviewing the celebrities, the open-door policy means an assortment of eccentric oddballs can pop by at any moment to chat, compete in games, and engage in comic revelry. Our clip is from just back around the corner: June 21st of 2021, when director Edgar Wright returned along with Ron and Russell Mael of the band Sparks to talk to Scott all about their new documentary The Sparks Brothers. If you wouldn't mind reviewing and rating us wherever that is possible you would be doing us the greatest of favors because it helps people find us. How did YOU find us? Did someone recommend us to you? Did you click on us out of curiosity because we were on the same page as something else you were looking for? Another option that I can't think of at the moment? Anyway, "tune in" to our next episode which should be #260 and "see" what Marc Hershon cooks up for you. Thank you for listening, Be Decent To Each Other, and if someone ask you if you've heard anything interesting lately would you mind telling them about us? We would really appreciate it. It's what we mean when we say "Please, Pass The Succotash". — Tyson Saner
