Amy Bogac is the Chief Information Security Officer at Elevate Textiles. As a seasoned security leader, she has over 20 years of experience in information security, IT governance, and compliance. She holds an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and a CISSP certification from ISC2. Previously, Amy was the CISO for The Clorox Company during a significant cyber incident. In this episode… The concept of disaster recovery has evolved significantly in recent years, urging companies to evaluate their security capabilities and infrastructure to plan for cyber events and specific scenarios. While publicly traded companies have some measures in place to restore data and minimize disruptions, privately held companies may not be as prepared. And, as new SEC cyber disclosure rules target third-party risk management, this places pressure on privately held companies to disclose breaches. How can companies maintain strong data resilience and incident response planning? With cyber events becoming increasingly disastrous, having a business disaster recovery plan that can recover data and resume operations is more critical than ever. Yet, sometimes the affected data isn't always trustworthy, especially if the breach occurred among third-party vendors. In this episode of She Said Privacy/He Said Security, Jodi and Justin Daniels chat with Amy Bogac, the CISO at Elevate Textiles, about the critical need for businesses to revisit their disaster recovery plans and integrate data resilience strategies. Amy stresses going back to the basics by regularly reviewing and updating DR plans and ensuring that all business processes are documented and tested. She also explains the magnitude of risks companies face today, highlighting the need for stakeholder and company-wide involvement in training and incident response planning.
In this episode, Steve Fretzin and Sean Klunder discuss:Why law firms tend to run behind other types of businesses in marketing. Understanding your SEO strategy. Individual lawyer marketing versus law firm marketing. Alignment and consistency in messaging in all areas of your firm. Watch out for fool's gold to ensure you're swimming in the blue ocean. Key Takeaways:There is a difference between Marketing and marketing. Without a strategy, it is all just random acts of marketing.Sales patterns have changed over the last few years. People are taking themselves 60-70% through the sales cycle online digitally before ever contacting the law firm. Identify your unique differentiator. Use the three pillars to help identify that: what do you do, who do you help, and what makes you different.Be targeted to who you're disseminating your message. Where are those targets digitally? Whether it's construction or healthcare, organizations and those who lead them must challenge the assumptions that govern how they do business. Are they still relevant today? What worked yesterday may no longer apply, and it's important for leaders to question and challenge those assumptions. The hardest part about challenging assumptions is identifying them in the first place. In episode 42 of The Construction Leadership Podcast, we look to a trio of healthcare leaders who have certainly challenged the assumptions in their business over the past 15 months: Todd Brockway, Division VP at Medline Industries, Inc., Jacki Dioguardi, VP of Commercial Technology at AbbVie, and Nimesh Jhaveri, President of Community Pharmacy and Health at McKesson. This episode was hosted by Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, whose proud alumni include Bradley Hartmann, Nimesh, and Jacki. Todd Brockway is a member of the Lake Forest faculty.

Dysfunctional Nonprofit Boards Can Ruin an Organization, These Recruiting Principles Offer a Solution Interview with Jim Mueller The complexities and challenges of sustaining a nonprofit far exceed those faced by similar-sized for-profit entities. Board members are called upon to be voices in their communities, to promote the importance of their cause, and to attract a band of true believers so that their nonprofits have the best opportunity to have the greatest impact for the most people. Having the wrong people end up on a nonprofit board can spell disaster for the organization. My message revolves around seven principles that nonprofits can use to recruit and sustain highly effective boards - and I aim to provide a roadmap for leaders to get there. Matt Paterini, PharmD, interviews Joseph Friedman, RPh., CEO at Professional Dispensaries of Illinois, (PDI) Medical LLC. From the moment Illinois' Medical Cannabis program was signed into law, he became deeply involved in the complex process of positioning himself to open one or more medical cannabis dispensaries in Illinois. On February 2, 2015, Illinois' Governor Bruce Rauner conditionally awarded permits to operate medical cannabis dispensaries in Illinois. Friedman's high scoring application was one of 57 granted a license. Friedman has a pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy, and a MBA from Illinois' Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. Through Friedman's efforts, PDI Medical will become the first accredited dispensary in the nation through Ohio based NMMAO (National Medical Marijuana Accreditation Organization). Friedman has also orchestrated the first ever pharmacy student “clinical” rotation at a medical cannabis dispensary. PDI Medical is working with two Chicago-based colleges of pharmacy; Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy, and Chicago State University College of Pharmacy. Pharmacy student rotations began October 3, 2016. This unique clinical rotation has been a tremendous success for the patients of PDI Medical, and the young pharmacy students involved. He was Director of Pharmacy at Topco Associates LLC, and was Senior Director of Pharmacy Marketing at the Nash Company in Minneapolis. Friedman has become a content expert in the scientific, legal, social, political, and financial challenges facing U.S. entrants to the burgeoning medical cannabis industry. Friedman has set the record for the most interviewed guest on The Pharmacy Podcast. His 4th interview occurred on a special “420” edition of the podcast show released on April 20, 2017. The Pharmacy Podcast show is accessed by thousands of pharmacists throughout the world. Through the Pharmacy Podcast network, Friedman is now the host of his own monthly podcast show, The Medical Potcast. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Show 36 is part two of my interview with Phil Armour. The essay is a reminder to process improvement personnel that to be effective you need to understand why you are making a change. I suggest that if you don’t understand the rationale for change, stop until you do. The text of the essay can be found at www.tcagley.wordpress.com. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Show 34 is the beginning of my interview with Phil Armour. I am calling this interview, “Estimation Ain’t Planning”. I must admit that I have been quoting this interview since I taped it. Amazingly powerful concepts, so powerful I decided to revisit estimation. Phillip G. Armour is VP for Systems Development and a Senior Consultant at Corvus International Inc. Phil has been developing software for over thirty-five years. He has been a programmer, analyst, project manager, DBA, systems architect, process engineer, metrics engineer, consultant, and executive coach and has worked for organizations as diverse as United Airlines, Motorola, Argonne National Laboratory, General Dynamics, the IRS, the premier software consulting company in India, and the largest cellular service provider in Central West Africa. Telephone: (847)-438-1609Fax: (847)-438-1638Email: armour@corvusintl.comWebsite: www.corvusintl.com The essay is titled “Estimation, Planning and Goals: All Different I Say!”. The essay explores the confusion of words used in project planning and control. The essay may be due to my long-term issue with a how words are used and misused, false levels of precision or just the fact that the process relating to the software engineering disciplines like estimation continue to prove to be difficult to implement regardless of the development method used. The text of the essay can be found at www.tcagley.wordpress.com. Comments and corrections are welcome. There are a number of ways to share your thoughts .
