How do you train today's technicians to work on powertrains that barely existed a decade ago—and keep evolving each year? Bosch Mobility took on that challenge with its nationwide EV technician training tour, a hands-on program designed to meet technicians on-site.Brittany Kearns, Project Manager for EV Service Concept at Bosch Mobility, joins The Amped EV Podcast to discuss this mobile training initiative. Bosch launched the tour in 2024 to address the growing demand for EV technician training across the United States.Kearns explains how the one-day, face-to-face program brings cutaway vehicles, diagnostic tools, and essential equipment directly to workshops. The tour targets technicians, students, and educators – giving them the confidence to work on EV platforms like the Toyota Prius, Nissan Leaf, Tesla models, Ford Lightning, and Chevy Blazer EV.Expanding Technical Depth and Responding to FeedbackFeedback from the field led Bosch to expand the curriculum with advanced training modules and deeper diagnostic content. Kearns shares how Bosch is also addressing regional training needs, including diesel education and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).Bosch supports shops as they transition to servicing connected, software-defined vehicles. She emphasizes that technicians must go beyond mechanical repairs and understand software updates, sensor calibration, and system diagnostics. As EVs evolve, Bosch continuously updates its tools and educational offerings to keep pace.Evolving EV Technician Training Curriculum and Public EducationKearns notes a growing number of hands-on EV training programs across the industry and sees that trend as critical. These resources help close knowledge gaps—not just for technicians, but for the public as well. www.thebuzzevnews.com

Electric Vehicles continue to pick up major traction in the US, with adoption continuing to accelerate even amidst growing challenges with charging infrastructure and overall affordability. A new survey from Bloomberg Intelligence found that despite these hurdles to growth, US battery electric vehicles (BEV) penetration is likely to reach 25% by the end of the decade. We talk to Steve Mann, Global Lead Director for Auto & Industrial Market Research at Bloomberg Intelligence and the lead author of this report. He spoke to use from Princeton, NJ where he just bought his first EV, a Chevy Blazer EV. Applogies for the audio issues, it was a day when nothing was going right. The survey, conducted with 1,000 prospective auto purchasers, found that 42% of respondents were considering purchasing an electrified vehicle as their next car, with 23% opting for hybrid electric vehicles, in contrast to the current 7% penetration in hybrid electric vehicles. 9% of those surveyed favoring battery EVs, which is higher than the 7% battery EVs penetration last year. BI's research shows that prospective auto purchasers who already own an electrified vehicle are incredibly loyal to BEVs, with the report finding that 93% would stick with their current powertrain for their next purchase, compared to 34% of gasoline vehicle owners who are deciding to opt for an electric car. Fuel-type stickiness suggests that EV penetration is unlikely to reverse course as the benefits to an electric vehicle could continue to outweigh costs to current owners; and this continuous preference for EVs is consistent across HEV, PHEV, and BEV owner segments. The all-new Chevrolet Blazer EV is rolling out. It will be a 2024 model year. And it's come a long, long way. First hitting the market in 1969, to say the nameplate has come a long way is an understatement. ⇒ Martin Chevy is an iDriveSoCal Official Chevrolet Dealer Because that Blazer was a short-wheelbase truck with a factory cab - more or less. But a little more than five decades later and Blazer has experienced a transformation. The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer electric vehicle is a super-stylish, zero-tailpipe emission, midsize SUV people hauler. And it's capable of doing some serious hauling. Clocking a zero to 60 mph time in under 4 seconds. As estimated by Chevy. 2024 Chevrolet Blazer SS EV @ LA Auto Show Overview - What We Know So Far Aside from being quick and super-stylish, Chevy's let a lot of info out. While there's on the way. Here's what we've got to date. For the first time that we're aware of, an EV is being released with any drive configuration. Including front-wheel, rear-wheel or all-wheel drive options! GM is estimating up to 320 miles of range on a full charge. Plus nearly 30 inches of digital display across the cockpit. Chevrolet is offering a trim for every price range and associated feature set. Providing ample customization of your Chevy Blazer EV. Including push-button-free auto start. Plus automatic lift gate access. One-pedal and Super Cruise hands-free driving. Worth noting, but not available to the public, is the Police Pursuit Vehicle. That's taking the top-level SS trim to a civic-duty level. Trims And Pricing - All-New Chevrolet Blazer EV Updates on reservations for the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV are available now HERE. More details on each specific trim availability date are available through Southern California Chevy Dealers. Like iDriveSoCal's partner, Martin Chevrolet. 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV - Trims & starting MSRPs: 1LT $44,995 2LT $47,595 RS $59,995 SS $65,995 PPV - law enforcement only Each trim has a slightly different rollout plan. So it's best to connect with a dealer. And that's to identify and order your Blazer EV. As well as determine exactly when it will be ready. Electric Motor, Power, And Performance While not all the stats are being reported by Chevy for each of the trims. The bow tie brand is releasing some impressive numbers for the 2024 Blazer EV. The top trim SS, Super Sport, trim delivers 557 horsepower with 648 pound-feet of torque. And that's with AWD. Additionally, it's the SS trim that times 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. Braking from that acceleration is just as important. So the SS Chevy Blazer EV adds Brembo performance brakes in the front. Drivetrains Here's one of the truly interesting areas of Blazer EV. Power can come from anywhere. It's being based on trim. 1LT - FWD only. 2LT - FWD standard, AWD optional RS - FWD or RWD standard, AWD optional. SS - AWD only. The all-new Chevrolet Blazer EV also offers Regen Braking. And that converts kinetic energy from the vehicle's forward momentum into electricity. Helping to maximize range. While also allowing one-pedal driving. Whereas, when engaged, Blazer EV can come to a complete stop by fully releasing the accelerator pedal. Up to 320 miles of range Range and Charging - 2024 Chevy Blazer EV Your driving distance on a single charge varies by trim. For example, that 320-mile range comes with the RS trim. While the higher-performing SS trim delivers 290 miles on a full charge. Then the 1LT and 2LT trims provide 247 and 293 miles of range respectively. So all this range comes from different levels of charging. There is 11.5 kW level 2 charging and up to 190 kW public DC fast charging. Blazer EVs have the capability to fast charge through DC high-speed units. Adding 78 miles of range in just 10 minutes. A cool feature that caught our attention is a Blazer EV charging feature....
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV promises to be one of the most exciting vehicles to hit the road next year. In SS trim it will offer 557 horsepower and 648 lb-ft of torque. That's exciting enough, but it will also be offered in a number of much more accessible versions, leveraging the General Motors Ultium platform, in a vehicle that could challenge the Tesla Model Y. To learn more about this amazing new model we went behind the scenes to interview one of the key members of the Chevy Blazer EV team, Our special guest is Bret Dick, the lead development engineer for the innovative vehicle. He'll reveal how the Ultium platform enabled Chevrolet to offer so many intriguing versions of the vehicle. There is sad news to report as well. A legendary American brand is saying goodbye to a pair of its signature models, and we'll give you the details in this episode of America on the Road. The brand is Dodge, and its executives have just announced that it will cease producing the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Challenger at the conclusion of the 2023 model year. In the meantime, Dodge plans to celebrate (mourn?) the passing of the two iconic performance cars by offering a plethora of special editions. We'll tell you about them. Also in the news, recently enacted federal legislation signed by the White House ends the longstanding $7,500 tax credit for the purchase of an electric vehicle. In its place is a much more complicated series of credits and incentives for consumers and global automakers. The big question is will it hurt the sales of electric vehicles? We'll try to sort it out for you coming up. This week Co-Host Chris Teague is back with us after a home disaster that prevented him from being on the show last week. The good news is he got plenty of additional time to drive the exciting 2022 Hyundai Elantra N. He'll let us know whether the road test vehicle is the match for his recently purchased Volkswagen Golf GTI. Also in the road test segment, Host Jack Nerad traveled across the country to Asheville, North Carolina, to drive the significantly revised 2023 Hyundai Palisade. The Palisade has the daunting task of competing against stalwart vehicles like the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot and Jeep Grand Cherokee. We'll tell you how we think it measures up. I got the chance to drive the significantly revised 2023 Hyundai Palisade at a driving event in Asheville, North Carolina. So we'll tell you all about that. All that and more coming up in this episode of America on the Road.
There are two types of engineers. The “normal” ones who strive to make their day-to-day lives as easy as possible and the Robbie's of the world who strive to do everything themselves until the last line of code is sealed in a changelog. On that note, do you prefer conventional commits? Or the tools out there that make organization easier and, sometimes, automated? Chuck and Robbie don't see eye-to-eye on this particular topic so prepare yourself for the mildest smackdown of the century. In this episode, Chuck and Robbie discuss the pros and cons of release-it, the beauty of working system-agnostic, why Robbie prefers the changelog, and an attempt to stay abreast of frameworks like fresh coming into focus. Show #1400 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily, you trusted source of information. It's Thursday 10th March, it's Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. 2024 CHEVY BLAZER EV WILL HAVE AN SS PERFORMANCE VARIANT - Chevrolet's Blazer crossover is going electric for the 2024 model year with the launch of the Blazer EV and a teaser video released today indicates a performance-oriented SS trim will be part of the lineup - The Blazer follows an onslaught of other electric vehicle announcements from General Motors, including the GMC Hummer EV and Chevy Silverado EV pickup trucks, all of which use the company's Ultium battery technology. - Earlier this year, Chevrolet revealed the first images of the Equinox EV, an electric SUV sharing the name of the company's popular compact crossover. - Chevy says that the Blazer will be the company's first EV to gain a performance SS badge when it debuts later this year. - The Blazer SS will go on sale in spring of 2023 Original Source : https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a39384135/2024-chevy-blazer-ev-ss-performance-variant/ CHEVY TEASES ITS FIRST PERFORMANCE ELECTRIC VEHICLE, THE 2024 BLAZER EV SS - The automaker revealed little about the Blazer at CES, though, preferring instead to share details about the Equinox. Set to go on sale with an MSRP of around $30,000, the compact Equinox SUV will be a bargain by EV standards. Despite that, big screens and fancy technology will still be present, suggesting that Chevrolet is taking its transition to electric vehicles seriously. Bidirectional charging capabilities offer a higher level of electric resiliency and less reliability on the grid, especially during peak times. - The pilot includes the use of bidirectional hardware that's paired with software-defined communications protocols that will enable power to flow from a charged EV battery into a customer's home. The software will automatically coordinate between the EV, home and PG&E's electric supply from the street. - The pilot will test bidirectional power technology with multiple GM EVs. - Last month, Ford announced a partnership with San Francisco-based Sunrun, a provider of residential solar panels and home batteries that allows Ford F-150 Lightning owners to use their truck's substantial battery reserves as a home's emergency power source. - To use Ford's Intelligent Backup Power, customers will need to install the Ford Charge Station Pro and Home Integration System, which includes a power inverter plus a dark start battery and transfer switch, enabling two-way power flow between the home and vehicle. This caused the computer to think the car still had 10% of range left when in reality the main battery was already at 0%. - When the main battery died, the 12V Li-Ion battery was also dying Original Source : https://driveteslacanada.ca/software-updates/tesla-deploys-emergency-software-update-2022-4-5-12-to-calibrate-lfp-batteries TESLA CONFIRMS DELIVERIES OF GERMAN-BUILT MODEL YS ARE STARTING ON MARCH 22 - Tesla has confirmed that deliveries of Model Y vehicles built at Gigafactory Berlin in Germany are starting on March 22. - Last week, after months of delays, Tesla finally received its official building permit following the environmental approval of its Gigafactory Berlin project. - However, the approval was conditional on about 400 different conditions that the automaker needed to confirm. Surprisingly, German officials said at the time that they expected Tesla to fulfill all those conditions within the next two weeks. - March 22 will mark an important step for Tesla by starting deliveries of European-made vehicles and putting it on a path of better logistical efficiency. Original Source : https://electrek.co/2022/03/09/tesla-confirms-deliveries-german-built-model-y-starting-march-22/ BRANDENBURG TO MAKE WATER EXTRACTION ALLOWANCES FOR GIGAFACTORY - After the permit for water extraction, which was found to be illegal and also affects the Tesla factory, Brandenburg wants to tolerate partial extraction. This would allow the public water supply to be maintained, the Ministry of the Environment told the DPA. - On Friday evening, the Administrative Court of Frankfurt (Oder) had declared the water permit issued in 2020 “unlawful and unenforceable”. - In a first reaction, the Straußberg-Erkner Water Association (WSE) had demanded that the state tolerate the water pumping until the procedure was made up for. - However, the 1.4 million cubic metres of water actually contractually guaranteed by the WSE for Tesla would only be needed when the carmaker in Grünheide has actually reached its full capacity of 500,000 cars per year. When that will be the case is still unclear. The situation is worst in Europe, where the customers rely on Giga Shanghai production allocation. In the case of Model 3 RWD and LR AWD, the estimated delivery time to Germany has jumped to February 2023. This is just shy of a full year away. - This is true for the customers in Germany, France, and United Kingdom. The waiting time is significantly longer than what people in the North American market are facing. For American customers, the same vehicles are promised to be delivered in May 2022, while the Canadians have to wait until August 2022. This time, the Ukraine war is cited as the root cause for production pauses. - The two premium German brands are joining BMW, Mini, and Volkswagen, all of which have been forced to idle plants across Europe. At the moment, March 18th is the project date for a return to normal activities however that could change at any moment. - One of the main missing parts of wiring harnesses which were made in Ukraine. Part production was halted once Russia invaded the country according to Automotive News Europe. - Mercedes-Benz has halted S-Class and EQS production at its Sindelfingen plant near Stuttgart. Benz's neighbours, Porsche, deferred Taycan output at its Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen factory. - Porsche specified that about 200 Taycans will not be built. Over at Mercedes, no such detail has been disclosed.
