This week Sara sits down with Chinese medicine doctor and friend, Dr. Chris Motley! Sara and Dr. Motley discuss how eastern and western medicine should work together more and how Dr. Motley isn't against modern medicine. He also shares many different, simple ways you can live a cleaner life and clear up some longer lasting problems that may not be solved by modern medicine. This episode will absolutely leave you wanting to make an appointment with Dr. Motley!   About Dr. Motley:   In high school I had three options and interests in mind: art, pilot, or healthcare. I chose healthcare. A decision that had to be influenced by God and my genetics. I graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Austin Peay State University in 1997. After undergrad, I attended Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri and completed my Doctorate in Chiropractic with a specialization in Clinical Kinesiology in 2004. I chose to specialize in Clinical Kinesiology, because in my opinion, it covers a wide range of testing techniques. I started a practice in a small house in Franklin, TN. Over the last 16, I have seen the practice grow to full capacity. I am thankful to God that this path has fulfilled and taught me so many of life's hidden lessons. Those lessons can be tough. Not only do you see these lessons in your patients, but also through personal experience. During my sixth year, full onset of Lyme Infection (which I believe I contracted as a teen) began in 2011. It lasted more than three years, and I almost had to stop practice completely. I experienced a wide range of the symptoms of Lyme, which made me question if I could keep practicing and even help anyone again. However, with the treatments from my colleagues and mentors, I came out of all symptoms and infections. I am forever grateful to them. I thank God that I now understand what people with chronic infections go through. Interesting enough, after my battle with Lyme, more and more people came into the office wanting help with chronic infections. Energy moves through us and creates attraction for others who need that same help. I am thankful that I have been able to assist and help those with chronic problems for all my years in practice.   Another scare happened in December 2017. I had a ruptured ulcer that sent me to ICU and surgery. My surgeon, Dr. Rosen said stress was a big factor, and that I would have died if a few more hours had passed. I created a scenario of constantly saying “yes” and never saying “no”. Always pushing myself had quite an impact on my health. I have recovered fully. However, this event created a positive shift in my mentality. This shift helps me in the treatment of patients. I am now more aware of the signs of disease and sickness that are based in the “fight, flight, or freeze” mechanism we put on ourselves in this day and age. Being still, staying present, and slowing down is a major source of comfort and focus in my life and health clinic. The lessons I learn from my own life and patients continuously teach me that self awareness is the first step to healing. Teaching patients to learn how to feel what they feel and not run from it is the initial phase of the journey. This gives power and strength back into a persons life, and opens the door for resolutions. I want to help teach individuals to learn more about themselves. When they do this, it brings validation and connection within their bodies, and this leads to healing.   Listen to Unbroke: (https://ffm.to/seunbroke)   LET'S BE SOCIAL:   Follow Dr. Motley: Instagram: (@doctormotley) Twitter: (@DoctorMotley) Website: (https://doctormotley.com/)   Follow Diving in Deep Podcast: Instagram –(@divingindeeppod) TikTok – (@divingindeeppod) Twitter – (@divingindeeppod) Facebook – (@divingindeeppod)   Follow Sara Evans: Instagram – (@saraevansmusic) TikTok – (@saraevansmusic) Twitter – (@saraevansmusic) Facebook – (@saraevansmusic)   Produced and Edited by: The Cast Collective (Nashville, TN) YouTube – ( @TheCastCollective ) Instagram – (@TheCastCollective) Twitter – (@TheCastCollective)   Directed by: Erin Dugan Edited By: Sean Dugan, Corey Williams, & Michaela Dolph https://www.thecastcollective.com

Today we have another great episode lined up for you. It's our first in-person episode here in the new year. I love the in person episodes, and think it just creates a much better episode, so super excited today. My guest and I have known each other for a little over a year at this point. We connected through my financial advisor, and since then he has become a client of ours. He's got an incredible business, and crushes it on social media, specifically TikTok. He's TikTok famous if you will you. He's also a runner, and does cold plunges, which I'm a huge fan of. My guest today is Holden Stanfill. He is the Owner of Stanfill Chiropractic, an evidence-based chiropractic therapy office in Ellisville, MO. Dr. Stanfill was inspired to enter the health professions field after the passing of his brother to cancer in 2011. He watched the abuse the treatment took on the human body when subjected to chemotherapy, radiation, and repetitive surgeries. He wondered what could be done to help those patients deal with the aches and pains they were experiencing while they were going through treatment. That's when he discovered chiropractic, and how it can be used to relieve musculoskeletal pains.Originally from west Tennessee, he attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where he studied Cell and Molecular Biology. After completing the necessary courses, Dr. Stanfill continued to Logan University where he received his bachelor's degree in life science. He concurrently worked towards and completed his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2020.Dr. Stanfill has a deep passion for helping others take control of their health and help them eliminate their pain. He enjoys spending time exercising, and also competes in long distance running. As an active person, he has experienced many of the same issues his patients present with, especially runners. Dr. Stanfill also enjoys spending time with his daughter, Scarlett.

I was born and raised in Connecticut and did my undergraduate degree in West Virginia, majoring in Athletic Training. Earning my Doctorate in Chiropractic at Logan University brought me to Missouri and right away I knew this is where my God-given purpose was going to be fulfilled.I've always had a passion for helping people improve their function, health and wellness. There was a time in my life where the pain I had, prevented me from playing the sport I loved. I thought medications was the only answer, until I found chiropractic care. I developed a new understanding of how capable our bodies are in healing itself, if we allow it. "The power that made the body heals the body," by B.J. Palmer is one of my all time favorite quotes, and my mission is to encourage others to realize that health is already within them, I simply play a role in helping them express it to their fullest potential. It wasn't until my goddaughter was born that I became interested in working with the pediatric population. Her first few years of life were filled with hospital visits and different medications that seemed to give her parents more questions than answers. Understanding how stressful birth can be for both mom and baby, I realized working with babies and young children started while developing in mom's belly. I wanted to help expectant mom's with the entire process; from start to finish and after. This inspired me to become a certified Doula in 2021, so I could not only help expectant mom's through chiropractic care, but I could also play a significant role in the birthing process and be present on the big day.As a Chiropractic Doula, I witness the entire process come full circle; I not only love helping moms prepare for the arrival of her baby, but I also have the privilege of helping the baby prepare for a life outside of the womb.

Today's guest is Dr. Chelsea Karwath, owner of Abide Functional Wellness. About Chelsea: I am a small town Midwest girl, born and raised in Troy, Missouri. My passion for health and wellness began as a teen, when I decided to dig for the root cause of my lifelong digestive issues. This time in my life caused me to develop a passion for health and wellness rooted in a holistic view of the body. I continued learning about natural physiology and its functioning the way God intended. I became determined to live a cleaner lifestyle, which led me to start making and selling my own clean beauty and personal products in high school. My desire to be a part of the holistic healthcare solution led me to pursue Chiropractic as a career. Throughout my time pursuing my doctorate and extracurricular training in acupuncture and functional medicine, I, like so many women feeling the pressure of high achievements, found myself suffering from chronic stress, adrenal insufficiency, hormone imbalance, hypothyroidism, and fatigue. I finished my academic career in, what I felt was a completely different body than what I began with, and this led me to truly focus in on my passion to help other women recover from burn out and honor their feminine physiology. I attended Williams Baptist University in Walnut Ridge, AR, before transferring to Logan University to complete both my Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences, and my Doctorate in Chiropractic. During my time at Logan University, I completed multiple additional hours of education outside of my Doctoral course work. I have completed training in Functional Medicine, Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sacro-Occipital Technique, Pregnancy & Pediatric Chiropractic Care, Webster Technique, and the McKenzie Technique for the Lumbar Spine. I opened my dream practice, Abide Functional Wellness, in June of 2022, where I serve clients in-person in Shawnee, KS, inside Your Wellness Connection, and also virtually. My incredibly supportive husband Graham, a college wrestling coach, and I currently live in Leawood, KS with our Dane-Shepherd mix, Gus, and enjoy traveling and visiting the amazing coffee shops and restaurant patios in the Kansas City area when it's not wrestling season!
