Wo kommt also diese Linie her? Serif's Affinity division has released updated versions of Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, and Affinity Publisher. Despite the low prices of these applications, they pack surprisingly robust feature sets. In Short Circuits: Scammers stay up to date on news, and COVID-19 has been profitable for them. So profitable that Medicare and the Centers for Disease Control have launched a campaign to explain how contact tracing works and, just as important, how to spot a fake. • Has Microsoft set your default browser to Edge, or has something changed your preferred search engine? If so, it's an easy fix and I'll explain how for the three major browsers. In Spare Parts (only on the website): Adobe's free Photoshop Camera app for Android and IOS devices keeps getting better with the addition of free lenses that modify images taken with the app. • Acronis TrueImage 2021 doubles down on security measures with tools that scan for viruses, watch for malware, and use artificial intelligence to identify attacks before they can do damage. • Twenty years ago: A 19-inch monitor seemed gigantic, but flat-panel monitors were prohibitively expensive and those big cathode-ray tube screens left little space on the desk.

As I have mentioned in previous podcasts, I am a believer in owning your tools and owning your website. In website technology, software is a significant tool - we will all agree to that I am sure. Why rent graphic software when you can buy it for less? Back in the day, Adobe used to allow purchasing Photoshop and Illustrator, but no more. Now you rent their programs - forever. Every feature that Adobe offers in those two programs is matched or exceeded in Affinity software. Very recently, Affinity released a Publishing software and I have not used that one yet. There are loads of tutorials and tips on the Affinity software, including YouTube videos, which add to the value and helps reduce your learning curve. One excellent resource of Affinity tutorials is JenCoDesign.com

In this week's Show, we have a little chat about the beautiful side of business and how there is actually a rather deep level of substance behind all things pretty. We are all very much visual creatures, whether we like to admit it or not. So much so, that everything we see has an instant emotional and behavioural effect on us. So what's it all about then? Why do we respond to the way things look and more importantly, how can we use this knowledge to better position ourselves to our audience, building both trust and engagement? Jump on in to find out! And in the Content Report this week, we talk about some awesome coaching by the one and only Sean Mize and the new kid on the block design applications to take down Adobe - Serif's Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo. Let's get to it!

It's been 5 months since our last episode. In that time I've become a father (woah) and Mark has become really popular on Instagram. So it's a sort of catch-up episode, and a moan at each other about Apple, Microsoft, CPU's and Adobe and software named after disasters. Not exactly sure what ‘State of the Union’ is, Mark suggested it and I heard it on The West Wing once so sure it’s all good. Corrections: - Spectre Vulnerability: When we recorded this and discussed the Spectre and Meltdown CPU exploits, it looked like only Intel Chipsets were at risk. Within days there were identical exploits for most of major chip manufacturers. - Loscil, producer of my jukebox track DID reply to my tweet... it's pronounced like 'fossil'. There's no Toolstar this time, but we do talk about alternatives to Adobe's Creative Cloud suite, namely Hindenburg audio editor (https://hindenburg.com) and Affinity Designer (https://affinity.serif.com) My Jukebox pick is a track called 'Anthropocene' by Loscil (Monument Builders album, 2017). It's used in the Iceland surf film 'Under An Arctic Sky', a short documentary I recommend whether you're into surfing or not. Mark's tune is 'Cruise (Don't Stop)' from the 1995 Nightmares on Wax album Smokers Delight. Mark says this album was a constant feature in his car in the late 90's. Both tracks are added to the Relative Paths Playlist. Links: Leaving this bit to Mark... of there are any. Episode 13 - The future of WordPress, Customizer, Visual Editor and less Plugins
TechByter Worldwide (formerly Technology Corner) with Bill Blinn
An inexpensive vector graphic program might be just what you need, even if you use Adobe applications for other tasks. A disk drive suddenly goes off line and all efforts to revive it fail. Panic time? Not exactly. In Short Circuits: A plug-in for Chrome makes the N ew tab more useful, maybe to the point that some people will use it! A misbehaving mouse problem was resolved (I think) with an easy Registry patch. In Spare Parts (only on the website): Free tax preparation that really is free if you meet certain conditions, predictions that we'll see a lot more artificial intelligence used by stores, and retailers will also increasingly make use of the Internet of Things.

Maloche in Freiheit, oh Knecht! Was macht mir Freude? Was ist Coworking? - Make a SuperDuper! backup - Optional: Rename Hard Drives - Adjust path to volume/file location - Adjust paths in Hazel scripts - Adjust paths in Keyboard Maestro scripts - Adjust paths in TextExpander scripts - Adjust paths in Services - Adjust paths in Scripts - Adjust paths in Workflows - Adjust paths in GeekTool - Make/replace SymLinks - LaunchBar - LittleSnitch - 1Password - Dropbox - Drag and drop applications from Backup - Migrate Preferences from Backup - Geektool's Preferences - Transmission's Preferences and Applications Support Files - Dictionaries from `/Library/Dictionaries` - Install the rest of the applications manually Was aus der Liste entfernt wurde sind Hyperlinks zu den jeweiligen Ordnern oder Dateien auf seiner Festplatte – ist halt übersichtlicher so.
