Can autonomous drones be deployed in urban areas? Reese Mozer is President of Ondas Holdings and CEO and Co-Founder of American Robotics. Ondas Holdings is a leading provider of private wireless data and commercial drone solutions. The Wireless data solutions are provided via Ondas Networks. The commercial drone solutions are provided through American Robotics and newly acquired Airobotics. Together, American Robotics and Airobotics design, develop, and market autonomous commercial drone solutions worldwide. Their Scout System and Optimus System are highly automated, AI-powered drone systems capable of continuous, remote operation. Right after being acquired by Ondas Holdings, Airobotics announced a $3.5M purchase order and joint venture with SkyGo, a UAE-based company that has a commercial license to provide unmanned aerial transport of goods and services across the city of Abu Dhabi. With this partnership in place, the companies will move forward in launching a first-of-its-kind deployment of Urban Drone Infrastructure throughout Abu Dhabi. The project will serve as the autonomous UAS model for the rest of the world, especially in major cities. Reese is an accomplished entrepreneur, executive, and technologist, with over 12 years of experience in the drone, robotics, and private equity sectors. Dr. Mozer, believes that everything in an organization rises and falls on leadership. Influence is an important aspect of leadership. The speaker cites the story of Desmond Doss, an army medic who refused to carry a weapon in World War II and rescued 75 men during a grueling battle, as an example of how one person's service and commitment to their core values can influence an entire company. Leaders come in all shapes and sizes and take action based on serving others. An increase in leadership ability leads to an increase in the ability of the organization to lead, and can positively impact various aspects such as company culture, core values, and profitability. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/

The world of business is full of empty promises masquerading as the next “big thing.” From pitch comps in high schools to stakeholder meetings for the Fortune 100, you hear the same claim; that this service, or that product will be a total game-changer. As proof, all we have to do is take a little look into the past. Back in 1957, Ford dove in headfirst into “the next best thing,” also known as the Ford Edsel. But consumer preferences were evolving quickly, and no one wanted a big, bulky gas-guzzling car anymore. After a few years, and $400 million dollars down the drain, it was quickly taken off the market. Or what about when Coors tried to sell its “rocky mountain spring water” to its customers? Another flop. Turns out beer drinkers only want one thing from their favorite beer brand. Or let's think back to when everyone thought they had to offer phones to their customers. Amazon, Facebook, and ESPN all took a swing at the opportunity only to realize they overpromised and underdelivered. It's hard, almost impossible, to create something that truly has a long-lasting impact on the world and on consumer behavior. The internet was one of those things, and companies like Google, Tesla, and Apple were a few leaders that transcended the world of fad and actually entered the zeitgeist in real ways. But they are the exceptions, not the rule. And they also weren't the first movers in their industries. Google wasn't first in the search market. Tesla wasn't first in electric vehicles, and there were computers and phones far before Macs and iPhones became ubiquitous. So where does that leave an innovative new drone company, which is angling to be another one of those unicorns, but is paving a completely new path to get there? American Robotics became the first company authorized by the FAA to conduct automated drone operations without humans on site. Reese Mozer, the co-founder of American Robotics calls it an inflection point and he's aware that the whole industry could soon be riding in his slipstream. But Mozer has learned a couple of valuable lessons as he was pushing for approval and found nuggets under the golden ticket that he unleashed for the industry. On this episode of Business X factors, find out the valuable lessons Mozer learned in being the first-mover and how he plans to sustain the lead and not go the way of the Ford Edsel… Main takeaways: Push Where Others Don't Dare To Go: By their definition, entrepreneurs question the status quo and start-ups that come up with new ideas and inventions often find that they are overburdened by regulations. Innovators should be aware of what regulations are in place, and where the boundaries are to figure out what's possible. Then they should push those boundaries in order to create new opportunities before others strike up the nerve to challenge the regulators. The Edge Is In The Data: In developing a product, many entrepreneurs focus on pushing out new offerings and constant development of products to stay ahead. What often gets lost in the rush to focus on the product is the value that lies underneath what you build. Gold often lives in the data that companies gather and if they analyze and optimize that data, they can outlive any product that might be hot today but not tomorrow. The hardware or products often only serve as the enabler for data-centric transformational business value. Insane Perseverance: Steve Jobs said he was convinced that what separated the successful entrepreneurs from non-successful ones was pure perseverance. Many people will fold when they experience pushback, especially from peers or investors. Those that carry on anyway are often the ones that end up changing the world.---Business X factors is produced by Mission.org and brought to you by Hyland. For over a decade, Hyland has been named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms, leading the way to help people get the information they need when and where they need it. More than half of 2019 Fortune 100 companies rely on Hyland to help them create more meaningful connections with the people they serve. RCLCO’s Director of Business Development, Joshua A. Boren, speaks with George Smith Partners’ Principal & Co-Founder, Gary E. Mozer, about managing expectations during this period of market uncertainty as transaction volume has slowed; his strategies for successfully balancing work, home, and community life; and the importance of mentoring the next generation of real estate practitioners through ULI and other professional organizations.
Using Autonomous Drones in the Power Sector. Drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), have been dabbled with throughout the power industry for years. POWER featured a drone on its cover in April 2014, and it has published many articles on drone technology since then. Yet, the technology has been used more as a novelty in the power sector up to this point. As a guest on The POWER Podcast, Reese Mozer, CEO and co-founder of American Robotics, suggested that could change in the very near future. “We've all been talking about this for a very long time—you know, a decade plus—and despite all that, we really are not even scratching the surface yet of the scale that drones will be implemented and the value that will come from them,” he said. “But we are about to enter a very different generation of drone technology—and really robotics in general—and, you know, I think the next decade is going to look quite a bit different.” According to Mozer, American Robotics has developed the next generation of drone technology. The company offers a fully automated drone system that's capable of continuous unattended operation. Mozer explained that the autonomous drones work in conjunction with automated base stations to capture, process, analyze, and transfer data remotely to a user. The base stations charge and house the drones to prepare them for their next flight. He said this level of automation is key to finally unlocking drones as a viable tool for the energy sector. “The reality is that until we can remove the human from the loop, drones will not be able to scale to the levels that everybody has imagined,” Mozer said. “Once we can, [that] changes the economics of working with a drone. That changes the logistics. Not only does it make it affordable and practical to actually scale, it actually unlocks a whole different type of data collection, and thus, analysis that we can do on that data.” There are still some challenges to overcome, however, such as getting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations updated to allow autonomous operation. “That is the primary hurdle stopping this technology from taking off,” Mozer said. “American Robotics has developed the technology, the automation, the machine vision, the AI [artificial intelligence] that's required to actually conduct these automated operations reliably in the real world. And the last step for us, and for the rest of the industry, is to overcome FAA regulations. “Beyond line of sight is probably the most key. There's also a list of other ones that would prohibit this kind of automated operation,” he said. “And that's one of the reasons that we don't see drones flying all over the place right now.” There is reason for optimism. “We expect it in the near future,” Mozer said. “This topic is something that has been debated over and worked on from both a technology perspective and a policy perspective for really the past decade, and we think that that change is coming quite soon.”
This episode of #TeacherTalk has a very sensitive topic. Special thanks to everyone for providing sincere input and for sharing their insight. Allowing me to share our conversations here on this podcast is truly appreicated.
* The topic, Fights in School and Influences, is a sensitive subject and one that our guest, Mr Alvin Pitts, addresses sharing his very personal opinions. Input of all contributors is what makes the podcast a platform worth sharing. As the producer and editor of all TeacherTalk podcasts, I rely on the generosity of others, their time for the recording of the interview and trusting me enough to phone me directly is a very big deal. Thank you.
Community members speak up about what they hear being said by students in public - and many times what is being said is offensive. Profanity in public spaces is more popular and less private…
The trend in student misbehavior has almost everyone concerned, and how to correct what continues to be a growing problem is not an easy fix. Maybe some parents need more help at home, just as some teachers need more assistance in the classroom.
Going back to school is a new beginning for teachers and students. New lessons, changes in classrooms, and new energy. On this episode of #TeacherTalk we reflect on how science education is valued by "well known members" of the community. Micheal Green "The Science Machine" started his phenomenal science show at SciTrek Museum. Book author of "Extraordinary Success" Mike Howard gives us all a motivational lift. Atlanta's TV reporter Tom Jones recalls growing up in Houston, TX. Meeting up in a local Atanta coffee shop my chat with the brother of Astronaut Ron McNair, is partly shared here. Your suggestions and comments are appreciated.
**Teacher Retention and Expenses** An "#influencer" of digital education media, Dr. Will Deyamport (@iamDrWill on Twitter) chats with us from his home state of Mississippi. We hear very personal classroom shares from several callers regarding our topic "Teacher Retention and Expenses" that touch our teaching hearts. "Stop taking money out of your pockets," says the president of KSTB at KSTBEnterprises.com , Kimberly Sellars-Bates tells us to put grant money to work. [www.LisaMozer.com](http://)
Progressive commentator, Dr. K. Slaughter, recalls his experience facing a school bully, and experts on digital resources chime in on school resources. This is one of those discussion topics that we will address again and again.
Special thanks to everyone for sharing their opinions here on Teacher Talk, especially Conservative Radio Commentator, Mr. Shelley Wynter, President of the Center for Sustainable Communities, Mr. Garry Harris, and teacher friends. A recent report that should cause everyone to take notice claimed that roughly $1 billion was lost to fraud and waste in the charter school sector. Findings of the report were brought to the attention of Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. #TeacherTalk is a [Weather Wonder Inc](http://LisaMozer.com). production by UpWind Project Inc (a not for profit media group).
**Ethical or Cheating** Numerious USA news headlines elaborate on the the investigation and scandal of university admissions cheating. The discussion presented here indicates that most of us are aware of right and wrong and yet cheating is NOT an uncommon practice. For educators and many careers fields/jobs ethical behavior standards are in place.
# Firearms and Teachers on the Ready News reports highlight options for teachers to take up arms: Dec 7, 2018 "In 14 US states, there are already schools in which some teachers carry guns" according to *BBC Reports* teachers can enroll in a three-day training course. *Utah News* reported Feb 14, 2019 - In Lee County, teachers may be allowed to carry the guns they already owned... While the line of defense is getting support not all school community members are on board. **Presenting voices of concern is what we do here on Teacher Talk with [Dr. Lisa Mozer]**(http://www.LisaMozer.com )
