The FBI declined to comment, but Adams' attorney, Alex Spiro, called the operation a “spectacle,” noting that Adams was not arrested and is looking forward to his day in court. Federal charges against Adams are expected, potentially making him the first sitting NYC mayor to face prosecution, though the exact charges remain unclear. Adams denies any wrongdoing, calling the accusations false and politically motivated. He vowed to fight the allegations and stated he would not resign, insisting he could still lead the city. Join Coach Ashlie Walton and Detective Walton in this thought-provoking episode of The Tactical Living Podcast as they delve into the recent NYC riot on August 4, 2023. Drawing from firsthand experience and expertise in law enforcement, they critically analyze the challenges these chaotic events pose for law enforcement officers and the broader societal implications.   Referencing a recent article from NBC New York, they delve into the tumultuous events that unfolded, transforming the streets of Manhattan into a chaotic circus. The episode probes the fairness of such situations for law enforcement officers tasked with upholding the Constitution and securing law and order amidst the pandemonium.   The hosts thoughtfully dissect the inherent contradictions of these scenarios - how the very individuals tasked with ensuring the safety and security of our communities often find themselves grappling with untenable situations. They underscore the need for a balance between maintaining public safety and allowing lawful protest.   Further, the episode provides insightful discussion about the larger societal norms that enable such events to occur and their subsequent impacts on public order, safety, and trust in law enforcement. Through this critical dialogue, they shed light on the nuances and complexities inherent in these high-pressure situations that law enforcement officers encounter.   In a world where streets can quickly become a stage for chaos and disorder, this episode encourages a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by law enforcement and the fundamental role they play in maintaining societal stability. The massive blackout across New York City that began at 9:30pm on 13th July, 1977 lasted for a little over a day. Yet, during that time, arsonists set over 1,000 fires and looters ransacked 1,600 stores. It was the climax of a dark chapter for NYC, which at this time had an enormous financial deficit, was regarded as sleazy and dangerous, and had laid off hundreds of public service workers. But it also led to the spread of hip-hop. Perhaps. At 10 years old, Mary Alice Williams decided she wanted to tell news stories. In this fast-moving Fast Chat, we cover the timely -- what's up with CNN, the Cable News Network Williams' helped create -- and the timeless -- just what is news, anyway? Is local news dead? Williams recently stepped down as anchor of NJTV News, a Public Media station devoted to telling stories of import to New Jersey residents, capping a news career that began local — at NBC New York and WPIX — to becoming one of the highest-ranking female executives in American television. A primary architect behind the design of the first worldwide television network, Williams oversaw the construction of CNN's New York bureau and served as principal anchor and Vice President in charge of the New York bureau. From there, she went on to NBC News, where she was an anchor of the news team that won a national Emmy Award for its coverage of the fall of communism. Take a listen and be in the know in 30 minutes.
